Last minute support ahead of the make or break contest. Josh the nice weekend weather continues, but theres more snow on the way, a look at when youll be breaking the shovel back out. No one covers New Hampshire like we do. Amy good morning, im amy coveno. Sean im sean mcdonald. The first votes will be cast. To 2016 coverage. It was an eventful night as they took to the stage one last time before the Granite Staters headed to the polls on tuesday. Amy there were key moments that could effect how Candidates Campaign the next couple of days before the primary. Well have much more on the debate in just a minute, first, josh judge joins us in the Weather Center with a look at the weekend forecast, hi there, josh. Josh hi there, its a chilly start, but depends where you down flipflop regime. In plymouth youre not seeing things, north New Hampshire. In lower New Hampshire, the teens and 20s because of the clouds in northern New Hampshire keeping it milder there and flurries in the mountains and that could be the case this morning, some flurries or light hampshire. The rest of the day a Beautiful Day is upcoming with lots of sunshine and temperatures in the 30s and 40s, but were watching this weather system down here in southeastern parts of the country and thats going to work its way up the coast and head toward us in the next couple of days. Well talk about that and what few minutes. For today, a beautiful one. Bright and milder and highs in the upper 30s and lower half of the 40s. Amy with just days to go before the first in the nation primary, the republican candidates faced headed to the polls. Sean seven president ial hopefuls went head to head and it got heated. Ray brewer joins us with highlights. Good morning, sean, one candidate in particular seemed to be wearing a target on his back during this debate. Florida senator marco rubio. Heated exchangeses between marco rubio and new Jersey Governor Chris Christie dominated the early action in the g. O. P. Debate. You have not been involved in a consequential decision where you had to be held accountable. You just simply havent. Under Chris Christie governorship of new jersey theyve been downgraded nine times. We dont need to add to it by electing someone who added to and destroyed the credit of a state. The notion that barack obama doesnt there it is, the 25 second speech. Donald trump ended up taking on an audience which repeatedly booed him. Donors in the audience and the reason theyre not loving me, the reason excuse me, the reason theyre not loving me is i dont want their money. During the debate though, trump did not unleash as many jabs as were used to seeing for him. Instead for the most part he let his rivals fight amongst themselves. In the next half hour well hear what ben carson, ted cruz, john kasich and jeb bush had to say in the final debate before the new jersey primary. Amy our political director Josh Mcelveen was one of the moderators. One of the heated exchanges after his questions about Northern Pass and Eminent Domain. Mr. Trump, you have said, quote, i love Eminent Domain which is the seizure of private property for the greater good theoretically and youve tried that in business endeevers and supported for the keystone the Northern Pass would bring Northern Canada into the eastern grid. Do you deEminent Domain as an appropriate tool to get that done. When Eminent Domain is used on somebodys property, that person gets a fortune at least fair market value and if theyre smart two or three times the value of the problem. Without Eminent Domain you dont have roads, highways, bridges, schools, anything. Not that i love it, but its a necessity for a country. And certainly, its a necessity for our country. So, thats a yes on the Northern Pass project. Yes. The difference what donald trump did was use Eminent Domain try to take the property of a he willer elderly woman for a parking lot for one of his casinos which is not for public use. In florida we made that as part of our constitution. And thats the better approach, conservative approach. A lot of times youll have and it doesnt work very well. How tough is it to take property from an elderly woman. Let me talk, quiet. How tough is it . Following that moment, google trending showed that searches about Eminent Domain spiked 740 . Wmurs jean mackin continues our Team Coverage with a closer look how technology and social media are playing such a big role in this election. Jean im jean mackin in the google spin room at st. Anselm college. It used to be a hockey rink and now its for covering the g. O. P. Debate, more than 500 members of the press were here and we want today check on social media aspects. One interesting moment when wmur political director Josh Mcelveen questioned candidates about Northern Pass and Eminent Domain. Is Eminent Domain, and la toya, thats a tremendous spike in people asking about Eminent Domain. Absolutely. We have the debate tonight and tomorrow the super bowl. What is Eminent Domain topped when is the super bowl. It showed people were paying attention to what was happening at the debate. It does. And we were looking at Google Search trends around the room posted for the press to see tonight and what interesting thing is that in the state by state searches, the top searched candidate at one point was marco rubio. Tell us why thats interesting. Its interesting because when we went into the debate, donald trump was the most searched candidate, nationally and also in every county in New Hampshire. Throughout the debate, marco rubio went to the top and became the most searched candidate throughout the debate and they end of the night. Some interesting snapshots into social media. Thank you, latoya, what people were talking about and what people were interested in and what got them talking during the from st. Anselm college, wmur sean thanks. Toward the end of the debate, things turned to a somber tone when it turned to james foley executed by isis overseas. The question to the candidate, what would they say to foleys mother and should families of hostage be able to raise money for ran some for their loved ones. Putting in place legal regimes that encourage the payment of ransom has the effect of putting a bounty on other americans. There is a reason it has been longstanding u. S. Policy that we dont negotiate with terrorists, we dont pay ransoms. You cannot negotiate this way with terrorists. If you do, youre going to have, many, many more james foleys. James foley was a great young man, his parents are incredible people and done such a good job since his death, but you just cannot negotiate that way with terrorists. One candidate who appears to have done well in last nights debate was Chris Christie. The republican president ial hopeful has been performing low in the polls recently in new strategist says this was the debate that christie needed. I think that governor christie was clearly the winner tonight, showed hes the strongest person that can take on and ultimately beat donald trump and ultimately take on Hillary Clinton in the fall of this year. He was clearly, the most in command, most tested, the most ready and i think that the rush to coronate other people in this race is over. Amy and be sure to stay with news 9 following our newscast this morning for a special lineup of programming, breaking down the debate and setting the stage for primary week. At 10 00 well have a live hour long edition of closeup. This week with George Stephanopoulos, well have more analysis at noon, followed by as a matter of fact. And on tuesday, join us for continuous live coverage from the time the polls close until the winners are declared. Sean i feel you cant walk entourage. Amy its an exciting time in New Hampshire for sure. Coming up, north korea confirms it successfully launched a long good morning, welcome back. Clear skies over meredith, a chilly start to our day, but a nice one coming up. Those clear skies turned into sunny skies today, but when do they turn back to clouds and snow . Weve got the answer to that coming up. Sean josh, thanks. Right now officials are investigating a tragic incident at umass. Amy they say that james tilley fell out of a fourth floor window and died. He was a senior majoring in physics and a math minor. Commonwealth commonwealth. And north korea launched a missile just as the g. O. P. Debate got underway. Now World Leaders are lining up to condemn the firing, calling it potential threat to regional and world security. Still to come this morning, the awkward moment at last nights debate and what caused the confusion. Sean its 13 minutes past 6 00. Expecting snow in the the American People cant afford to wait for ideas that sound good on paper. But will never make it in the real world. The grandmother who has to choose between paying for medicine and paying rent. Cant wait. The single mom who desperately needs a raise. Cant wait. The student with a mountain of debt cant wait. We can make real progress, right now for people and families who need it. P im Hillary Clinton and i hmm hmm hmm hmm hmmhmm theyve all come to look for america all come to look for america all come to look for america and i approve this message. Now, meteorologist josh judge with your storm watch 9 forecast. Josh well, it was a pretty nice start to our weekend and another nice day is coming and then things for the week ahead in several different ways that well discuss. First of all, well start off with your temperatures. Notice the warmest in northern New Hampshire for a change. Lower 30s there. Meanwhile, everybody else in the teens and 20s out there. So, a chilly start. So highly variable depending upon your location. Clouds having a big part to do with why its so mild in northern New Hampshire. The includes lock in warmth at night and there could be a few northern part of the state today as well. The rest of us are going to see a lot of sunshine. Next up, its in weather system that stormed right now and it moved up the coast towards us. Theres going to be two of them. More and more, its looking like the second one, around tuesday, wednesday, mostly will be a miss, but not the storm for tomorrow. Even though it will be out to sea. It will be close enough to swipe us by with some snow, it does appear. So it look at the light snow showers in northern New Hampshire during the morning today. Otherwise a good amount of sunshine out there today and it will be a pretty nice day. Temperatures play get into the upper 30s and lower to mid 40s, so, 40s end up on the map in a lot of locations this average. Light winds and comfortable. Things cloud up through the nighttime hour. Overnight we start to notice the clouds increasing and as we wake up tomorrow morning, northern New Hampshire, a little bit of sunshine left and southern New Hampshire, its cloudy. Here comes snow pushing up though through the mid day and afternoon hours of tomorrow. And then it gets a little steadier, even more so during the nighttime hours into early Tuesday Morning. 4 00 or 5 00 in the morning and then it starts to wane during the morning commute and going to scattered snow showers which could linger off and on in a few spots, especially in northern New Hampshire. Primary day not bad, but we will wake up to snow on Tuesday Morning. Here is a look at what i think the highest will be. To the eastern and west, those amounts will be headed downwards just a little bit. The high temperatures for today will be, as i mentioned, on the milder side. Upper 30s and lower 40s. We get to tonight and the temperatures down where they are tonight. Last night, rather, into this morning. And tomorrow, for your monday, it will be a chilly one as temperatures will peak out much cooler. Its going to be a colder week ahead, too, as temperatures only peak out in the 20s tomorrow and how about a preview of election day, chilly, highs in the upper 20s to near 30 degrees, with some snow showers at times, especially in central and northern New Hampshire as there is a look at your weekend forecast, chilly and cold weekend to the end of next weekend. Na could be the coldest weve had this season. Amy were back to where we should be. Josh normal winter returned. Amy thanks, josh. Last nights g. O. P. Debate got off to a rocky start when there was confusion when some of the candidates would take to the stage. Doctor ben carson. [applause] [applause] texas senator ted cruz. [applause] [applause] businessman, donald trump. [applause] [applause] following the debate, dr. Ben carson spoke with us about why there was so much confusion. You know, the acoustics back stage were horrible and there was too much noise out front, you just couldnt hear. I kept listening for my name, i couldnt hear it, i think the same thing happened to john kasich. Amy following that minor hiccup, the rest of the debate went without a hitch. Sean and supporters gathered to watch the abc primary debate and cheer on the g. O. P. Hopefuls. An overflow crowd of more than 300 packed, and more than 300 people clapped for rubio at unh and 150 for jeb bush, and ted cruz and Chris Christie held watch parties. It wasnt just republicans in the Granite State. The democratic hopefuls were busy campaign and speaking with potential voters out there. Hillary clinton went doortodoor in manchester and held events in concord and supports mouth and senator supporters at Franklin Pierce university. If we can bring out a decent vote on tuesday, i am confident were going to win. And right now we need to join together to make sure we serve each other and our country. Sanders has an event planned for today in portsmouth and clinton will continue campaigning today before travelling to flint, michigan. So the hoopla continues. Exhausting. Sean coming up, the republican candidates take the stage before welcome back. It wasnt just voters who were excited about the debate saturday. Children at ywca in manchester got to learn about politics. This is the first ever primary fun day. Children and parents were encouraged to participate and learn about issues important to local families. It included a video booth where kids can tell the candidates which issues are important to them. Sean a nice little civics lesson. In the lakes region hockey players are participating in the 7th annual hockey classic. Moving it from meredith bay on lake winnipesaukee. Around new england make it a yearly tradition. Classic pond hockey organizers say it was a challenge. Its a unique deal and people are walking down and having fun. This one will have to be transported in, but once theyre here, its the same hockey action. Sean the tournament wraps up today. And today, hundreds of people will flock to Hampton Beach to take part in the penguin plunge. They gathered and joined Kevin Skarupa in a grass skirt, im sorry i saw that. Is he really going . Yeah, yeah, hes in, fair enough. All the proceeds go to the Special Olympics of New Hampshire, a great, great fundraiser for the year. Amy a fun event, keep the clothes on, seriously. And here is whats coming up in the next half hour of news 9. Debate continues and well have a wrapup of the events. Sean live outside of Manchester Hmm hmm hmmhmmhmmhmm hmm hmm hmm hmm hmmhmm let us be lovers, well marry our fortunes together [ cheering ] ive got some real estate here in my bag counting the cars on the new jersey turnpike theyve all come to look for america [ cheers and applause ] all come to look for america all come to look for america im Bernie Sanders, and i approve this message. No one covers New Hampshire like we do. Now, wmur news 9 this morning. Amy good morning, its 6 30, im amy coveno. We have a live look along the seacoast. A pretty sunrise. Sean beautiful. Im sean mcdonald. It was a big night for the president ial candidates as they debated for the final time before tuesdays primary election. Amy and even after the debate, many New Hampshire voters we spoke with say theyre still uncollide un undecided, but closer to a decision. Well get to those momentarily. Lets go over to the Weather Center and check with josh judge judge. Hampshire, it was cold, 33 in colebrook right now and those temperatures in the lower 30s in northern New Hampshire decrease as you head southward. 020s and even teens in the southern part of the state. That he is because theres clouds and even a few snow flurries in the mountains, keeping it milder there, not allowing the warmth to escape with radiational cooling. In southern New Hampshire, clear skies, that will lead to a lot of sunshine though for today. Were looking at a system here off to our south, well to our south and southeastern part of the state, that will bring some snow for us tomorrow, but not today. Today a beautiful one, 30s and even low to mid 40s out there. Well talk about how much snow we could be talking about in a few minutes. Amy the republican president ial candidates will be back on the campaign trail hours after facing off in the final debate before the New Hampshire primary. Seven g. O. P. Contenders will take the stage addressing a number of topics. Ray brewer joins us live in the good morning, sean and amy. We told you about exchanges between marco rubio, Chris Christie and donald trump. This time we take a look at other four candidates who shared the stage. During the last debate before the first in the nation primary ben carson, Whose Campaign has largely ignored New Hampshire looked back on his loss in iowa where the Ted Cruz Campaign told voters he was dropping out of the race. It gives us a very good example of certain types of washington ethics. Washington ethics, basically says, if its legal, you do what you need to do. Senator cruz says he would give the military more leeway to fight wars by losing the rules of engagement. We should use overwhelming force and get the heck out. Dont involve in nation building. Make it go impossible to do the objective. John kasich continued to candidate. Staking out moderate territory on issues like immigration. I think that the guest worker, path to legalization and not citizenship. Jeb bush says its time for a total overhaul of the Veterans Administration. Citing a local living vet who received his own death notice. He was told that he died, literally, the Veterans Administration sent a death certificate to this guy and took nine months to clarify the guy i met him, hes voting for me, and hes likely to be alive. Now, all of the republican candidates who took part in the debate, will be making Campaign Stops across the Granite State. Fellow republicans, Carly Fiorina and jim gilmore will also be here and on the democratic side both Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders will be in Granite State today. You can learn more by checking out the candidate tracker in the politics section of wmur. Com. Amy wmur political director joshing mcelveen was on the panel asking questions at the debate. One of the most pressing issues in New Hampshire is the opioid crisis. Josh touched on that causing some of the president ial hopefuls to get emotional. Senator cruz, youre a member of that committee and your Campaign Schedule didnt allow you to attend this, even though the Police Called it outrageous, and you told a close family members struggle with addiction. What can you say to Law Enforcement to convince them that you understand the severity of this problem and not just saying what people want to hear days before the primary . Well, josh, as you noted this is a problem that for me, i understand firsthand. My older sister miriam, who was my half sister, struggled her whole life was drug and alcohol addiction. Need leadership to solve it, solving it has to occur at the state and local level with programs like aa, and counseling and churches and charities securing the border because youve got mexican cartels smuggling vast amounts into this country and we know how to secure the borders, what is missing is the political will to do it and as president , i will secure the border. We will end this deluge of drugs. Senator cruzs point, lets take it a step further. Would you be willing to engage in cross border enforcement in mexico where Law Enforcement traced a lot of supply back to, would you engage in cross border enforcement without the corporation of the mexican government. Yes, as a former prosecutor fighting on the streets of my state i would do that, but we need to do more. Amy this morning, Manchester Police nick willard is spoke about not attending. Given senator ted cruzs answer i question further his sincerity and senator ted cruz couldnt attend the committee that he sits on. Two New Hampshire senators testified. Sean fresh off the debate stage, two candidates made their way to the spin room. The first two candidates to sit down with wmur were john kasich and donald trump. Here is what they had to say about New Hampshire. Look, i feel like im home, you know . When you spend as much time and, you know, a hundred town hall meetings, ive met people everywhere, ive just fallen in love with the people of this state. I see were doing well with undecideds, but not going to know until tuesday, but were doing well with undecides, and theyre amazing people and New Hampshire is a great place. Amy Lindsey Graham explains why and he recently backed him. My hope for jeb bush is to show temperament and if i went to sleep at night knowing that jeb was president , i would sleep well, some of these guys not so much. Sean as the primary draws closer, when it comes to campaigning, he wont be changing much. I dont need to change the strategy. I just need to get in front of more people and i will be doing that. The key thing is messaging here and always telling the truth and sticking with the issues that are important to america. Amy the Republican Debate featured seven of the nine republican candidates. Carly fiorina and jim gilmore did not meet the debate criteria, but in a one on one interview, fiorina told news 9 that she would have wanted to leave voters with this message. We have to take our country back. Our politics and our government back. We have a professional Political Class and an out of control government and neither one of them work for us any more. Im running for the presidency because we need to restore a citizen government. So, citizens of New Hampshire, voters, stand with me, fight with me, vote for me, cause back. Sean fiorina held a town hall in goffstown. Jim gilmore made stops around the state including some target shooting in exeter. Amy with only two days left until the primary, many New Hampshire voters say they still havent decided to theyre voting for on tuesday. During the debate, Shelley Walcott watched with voters hoping to be swayed one way or the other. These undecided voters say theyre a little closer to know who theyll vote for. That the debate is leading them to lean to the governors. Im voting bush or kasich. Kasich, however, i changed, i thought that jeb bush came out strong. Kasich and krissie. As for the frontrunners, none of them said theyve been swayed to vote for donald trump who is leading the pack. I just think donald trump is too divisive. I think about every other word out of mr. Trumps mouth, and unusual life to the whole campaign process, particularly here in New Hampshire. President. Marco rubio has been polling in second place in New Hampshire since his strong showing in the Iowa Caucuses. But many say tonights debate showed what they call his lack of experience. I was not impressed. I wanted to be impressed by him because i thought he might be the establishment alternative to trump and cruz, but i was not i felt that the first part of his debate was repetitive. Hes a pretty thin resume. I mean, really is an empty shirt. Ive always got that impression about him. And that again, ive had the opportunity to see him up close several times and its sort of the same Program Every time. Some of our undecideds say they havent made a choice and decide on voting day. Im going to go home and do my Fact Checking tomorrow to see who is who. Amy and here is a look at what the dnc had to say following the Republican Debate. We see republicans first tripping all over themselves at the beginning, but then going back to canned talking points, insults, shushing and really disrespectful tone that marked this and dog politics, and were handing out dog whistles to highlight how many times republicans are going after the you really see that democrats are focused on Building Energy and enthusiasm and getting them engaged. And the fact that the polls are tightening up. Sean dont forget to join us for a lineup of special programming after the show. At 10 00 well have a live hour long edition of closeup and at noon this week with george step nop stephanopoulos, and followed by matter of fact. Amy head over to wmur. Com and see the most memorable moments of the debate and see which helped their cause the most and the debate. Sean the debate continues long after its over. Amy indeed. We hope you stay with us. Coming up next, the bruins needed overtime to get past the sabers last night. Sports. Josh weve got sunshine and milder temperatures, but things are about to change. Ive got a look at the snow we could be dealing with. Business. New hampshire has the lowest welcome to New Hampshires business, im freddie kocur. Minimum wage, let me show you a series of numbers on minimum wages in the new england states. Here is New Hampshire atted 7. 25. Maine at 7. 50, but 10. 10 in portland. Vermont, connecticut, rhode island all at 9. 60 and massachusetts at 10. Thats all. Hampshire. The situation, 7. 25 reflects the federal minimum wage we have defaulted to that one. Walmart in New Hampshire and the u. S. Is now at 14. 29. Retail trade is now the largest employer in New Hampshire and most of those retailers do pay above the minimum wage. With me to talk about this are two people who are intimately state house, state senator lieu dalessandro dalessandro, and shane from a group in concord, representing the National Federation of businesses and Convenience Stores and New Hampshire restaurant and lodging association, bruce. Great to be here with you and senator dalessandro. Nice to have you. Senator, there are a couple of bills in the legislature, 1412 was defeated last week on it to 12. Whats the case for that . I think the case is this. New hampshire had its own minimum wage, but that was repealed when obrien was speaker of the house and we now defaulted to the federal wage, the federal wage is low. Two things are very important. New hampshire has a tremendous thirst for employees, good employees, every business in this state is crying for better educated, better trained, better employees, that weve got a real problem. That Mass Immigration that took that migration is outward, rather than inward. The reason is because better jobs are in the other states, particularly massachusetts where theyre flocking to massachusetts. So the minimum wage situation, it was a punitive situation created by a legislature for no reason. There was no reason at all to do that. The legislature always had the power to increase the minimum wage, keep it the same. It was within their jurisdiction. And its been defeated over ap over again, year after year. Yes, it has. Now, bruce, your clients that i just listed are opposed to the raising of minimum wage in New Hampshire, why so . Well, fred, we believe that basically the free market is working. There really isnt any minimum wage workers, very, very few minimum wage workers in the state of New Hampshire. I know in the ski industry, starting wages are at about 10 an hour and another retail settings, that the wage is up. So, i think that we have a working and people are working for higher wages. So you said that minimum wage, businesses that you represent are already paying more. Correct. Ok. Now, here we are surrounded, as we just put up on the screen, surrounded by five other states in new england, all with higher minimum wages than New Hampshire. Is that going to put a pressure on businesses and on the legislature, in particular do you think thats a disadvantage for New Hampshire businesses, having that kind of a low minimum wage, compared to the other states where employees might tend to go rather than stay here, lou . And we see it. We see that happening now. One of the real cries coming from industry in New Hampshire, business industry, is we need more employees. We need better trained employees, we need more employees. Theres a real problem here. We have an Unemployment Rate of area, so, theres a need for employees and i think when you default to the federal 7. 25, you dont give New Hampshire the opportunity to do more legislatively. Thats at problem and taking that away was a very, very bad move. Well, i think that the legislature has looked at whats happening in the market and i think that theyre seeing that it really isnt necessary to increase it. We dont need to put any arbitrary thresholds out there. I think let the market work and let these businesses compete and thats what theyre doing. So not a disadvantage in your mind . Its not a disadvantage because you have employers now paying much more than the minimum wage and so they need to compete with those border communities like what senator dalessandro. Bruce, thank you, and state senator dalessandro, thank you. An important issue. If you want to see that interview again, go to wmur. Com, click on news and click on project economy. Now, meteorologist josh judge with your storm watch forecast. Josh here we go with another nice day to come here for the second half of the weekend, but things are going to take a turn as we head into the new week. Woo are were looking at manchester, mainly clear skies and 22 degrees in downtown manchester. Light winds. We will have increased sunshine and light winds and temperatures milder today. Should be a pretty pleasant afternoon to be outside by february standards. Well be a good 10 degrees above average for this time of year. Check out those temperatures. Mildest in northern New Hampshire for a change with cloudy skies there and clear skies leading to chillier temperatures in central and southern New Hampshire this morning. It will reverse itself though as the clear skies turn into plenty of sunshine for us today and we see the temperatures make the mid 30s for northern New Hampshire, extra cloudy, a few flurries here and there. Next up, its to our south. This is the next weather system well be watching right now. It just looks like rain, but as it moves into the colder air here, take a look at it on future doing just that. It will change into some snow as it rolls through tomorrow afternoon, tomorrow evening into early Tuesday Morning thanks to this area of low pressure. There are two lows. Two low pressure systems off the coast the next couple of days. This one makes the closest call tomorrow, thats why we have snow tomorrow afternoon and evening into Tuesday Morning. And leftover snow showers not only from that system, but the second one but the Second System now, its becoming more clear. Stays farther away and weaker. Thats good news in terms of primary day, meaning just scattered snow showers at times as that system stays away and pulls away. Lets zoom in closer and show couple of days, plenty of sunshine in northern New Hampshire with extra clouds there today. Again, a pretty nice one on the way. But things cloud up overnight into tomorrow. Tomorrow morning, the early sun will fade and here comes the snow mid day and afternoon from south to north and steadier during the nighttime hours of monday night into early Tuesday Morning. Tuesday, primary day itself shouldnt be that bad. Scattered snow showers, youll wake up to some fresh snowfalls, monday night into Tuesday Morning. Breaking up with scattered snow showers during the time itself and youll be perhaps shovelling Tuesday Morning when you wake up or doing some snow blowing in some areas as well. Amounts. Highest amounts, closest as you might expect to the ocean storm. Two to five inches in southeastern New Hampshire from nashua, pelham east of manchester or Brown Manchester its tapering off to the farner north and west. We all get accumulating snow. 30sen 40s across the state and mid 30s in northern New Hampshire. Here is a check of your week ahead. Again, primary day should be better than it could be, anyway, but still some left over scattered snow showers. A chilly week ahead. Very winterlike and very cold next weekend, too, by the way, early. Heads up. Ill have to dig up my extra layers. Lets talk supports now. The bruins and sabers play the back of the home and home series. This game went into overtime tied at one. At one point the defender lost his stick and Brad Marchand scored the game winner. Boston will host the kings on tuesday. Amy hockey fans are seeing a lot of pink at Verizon Wireless the monarchs had the rink in the pink game for breast cancer. And monarchs went on to win the game 42. Sean oh, yeah, there was Something Else going on tonight, too. Amy what is it . Oh, doesnt, super bowl 50 kicks off with the broncos and panthers, not the patriots. The candidates shared a moment who they thought would win the lombardi trophy. I dont know, a lot of people are thinking the panthers. Amy who are you cheering for . Welcome back. As you know Media Outlets across the country and around the world are in New Hampshire for the primary. Hundreds attended the rnc Republican Debate at st. Anselms college. Amy they were welcomed with an Innovative Press room built over the ice rink at sullivan arena, it was equipped with screens showing Google Search trends and retreated to New Hampshire favorite, samples of maple syrup to take home. We caught up with them at the cafe that was brought in to warm up the photographers and producers so busy on the we were down in charleston for the debates in charleston. Its our job to be here and add a little bit of experience to, you know, a ult all the press running around all over the country for the last few months. Amy there was a lot of buzz about the google spin room being sophisticated. 50 news rooms around the world were covering the debate. An exciting time here in the state. Sean weve got some snow to greet people. Josh is that your spin on the forecast today . Spin in a storm system nearby tomorrow afternoon. Those temperatures will be going downward after today, but a Beautiful Day coming up today, some snow tomorrow. Primary day should be ok, just some snow showers scattered about i think on monday night and Tuesday Morning when well see most of the snow. Amy that wont hamper turnout. Josh i dont think so. Amy coming up next, the final debate before the first of the nation primary. One of the areas that ive been particularly interested in is the area of children. We intend to be sure that everybody in this room and every child in this state is somebody. No matter where theyre born, no matter to whom they are born. Ri want to make sure that every child has a chance to live up to his or her godgiven potential. Ive spent my life fighting for children, and im not stopping now. Im Hillary Clinton, and i have always there are those who say we cannot defeat a corrupt political system and fix a rigged economy. But i believe we need to lift our vision above the obstacles in place and look to the american horizon. To a nation where every child can not only dream of going to college, but attend one. Where quality healthcare will be a birthright of every citizen. Where a good job is not a wish, but a reality. Where women receive equal pay and a living wage where after a lifetime of labor, there is time for rest and grandchildren. A nation that defends our people and our values, but no longer carries so much of that burden alone. I know we can create that america if we listen to our conscience and our hearts and not to the pundits and the naysayers. Im Bernie Sanders. I approve this message, and i ask for your vote. I am convinced every individual standing on this stage would make a much better commanderinchief than barack obama or Hillary Clinton or Bernie Sanders. Youre going to win with trump and people back down with trump and thats what i like and thats what the country is going when im president of the united states, we are going to reembrace all the things that make america the greatest in the world and leave our children with what they deserve. With days to go before the first in the nation primary, the Top Republican candidates debated the issues one last time before New Hampshire voters head to the polls. Meanwhile, the democratic frontrunners are making their rounds across the state trying to drum up last minute support ahead of the make or break contest. The nice weekend weather continues, but theres more snow on the way. A look at when youll be breaking the shovel back out. No one covers New Hampshire like we do. Now, wmur news 9 this morning. Good morning, New Hampshire, 7 00 on this sunday, february 7th. Im amy coveno. Good morning, im sean mcdonald, the top trend on twitter, g. O. P. Debate. The 2016 coverage, it was an eventful night as the republican president ial candidates took to Granite Staters head to the polls on tuesday. Amy there were plenty of fireworks and key moments that could affect Candidates Campaigns ahead of the primary. Well have much more in a moment. First, josh judge joins us in the whether center with a look at the forecast. Hi there, amy, weve got a cold start to the day and a lot of sunshine on the way. Look at Hampton Beach, look at that over the atlantic to the east and a beautiful start to the day and a nice one coming up. Yesterday was good and today will be more pleasant with temperatures going from the 20s, teens and to the 30s and 40s. Theres clouds in New Hampshire. Could be employers in the through this morning. Its this weather system that were going to be watching and makes a close pass at us snow. For today, it does look nice. Milder, and highs in the upper 30s in a lot of the state to the lower 40s. So its going to be much milder. Well talk about the snow and with just days to go before the first this the nation primary. The candidates faced off one more time before they went to the polls. Several hopefuls went head to head. And ray brewer joins us with highlights from last night. Good morning, sean. One candidate in particular seemed to be wearing a target on his back during this debate. Florida senator marco rubio. Heated exchanges between marco rubio and Chris Christie dominated the early action in the g. O. P. Debate. You have not been involved in a consequential decision where you had to be held accountable. You havent. Under Chris Christies governorship of new jersey theyve been downgraded nine times in their credit rating. This country has a debt problem. We dont need to add to it by somebody that runs up the state. And barack obama with there it is, the memorized 25 coming out of a question of Eminent Domain, donald trump ended up taking on an audience that repeatedly booed him. The rnc told us we have all donors in the audience, the reason theyre not loving me excuse me, the reason theyre not loving me, i dont want their money. During the debate though, trump did not unleash as many jabs, instead for the most part let his rivals fight amongst themselves. In the next half hour well hear what ben carson, ted cruz, john kasich and jeb bush had to say during the final debate before the primary. Ray brewer, wmur news 9. Amy our political director Josh Mcelveen was one of the moderators posing the questions. One of the most heated exchanges came after Northern Pass and Eminent Domain. Mr. Trump, you have said, quote, i love Eminent Domain, which is the seizure of private greater good, theer ethically theoretically. And in New Hampshire, Northern Pass would bring hydro electric power from canada into the northeastern grid. Do you see Eminent Domain to get that done . When Eminent Domain is used on a persons property, the people get a fortune. Fair market value and if theyre smart more. And without it you wouldnt have highways, roads, a bridges, schools. Its a necessity for a country and certainly, its a necessity for our country. So, thats a yes on the Northern Pass project. Yes. The difference, what donald trump did was use Eminent Domain to try to take the property of a an elderly woman in atlantic in florida we made that impossible, its part of our constitution, thats the better approach. Its the conservative approach. Mr. Trump. He wants to be a tough guy, you know, a lot of times it doesnt work well. How tough is it to take proper from an elderly woman. Let me talk, quiet. Following that moment, google trending showed searches about Eminent Domain spiked. And jean mackin continues our Team Coverage with a closer look how social media is playing such a big role in this election. Im jean marken on the floor of the google spin room at st. Anselm college. Beneath us used to be a hockey arena. We wanted to check in on the social media aspect. One interesting moment when wmur political director Josh Mcelveen questioned the candidates about Northern Pass and Eminent Domain. Into the question, what is Eminent Domain. And were joined by latoya drake from google. Thats a tremendous spike in people asking about Eminent Domain. Absolutely. This is a really busy weekend. We have the debate tonight and tomorrow night is the super bowl. So what is Eminent Domain topped the super bowl. And it shows whats happening with the debate. We are looking at Google Search trends around the world posted for the press to see. One interesting thing, in the state by state searches, the top searched candidate is marco rubio. Tell us why its interesting . Its interesting because when we went into the debate, donald trump was the most searched. But throughout the debate marco rubio went to the top and became the most searched candidate at the end of the debate ap at the end of the night. Some interesting snapshots. And people were thinking about what got them talking during the g. O. P. Debate. From st. Anselm college, im jean mackin, wmur news 9. Toward the end. Debate, it took a somber tone when it turned to james foley executed by isis overseas. The question to candidates, what would they say to foleys mother and should hostages be able to raise ransom for their loved ones . Putting in place legal regimes that encourage the payment of ransom has the effect of putting a bounty on other americans. There is a reason it has been longstanding u. S. Policy that we dont negotiation with terrorists, we dont pay ransoms. You cannot negotiate this way with terrorists. If you do youre going to have many, many more james foleys. James foley was a great young man, his parents are incredible people. Theyve done such a good job since his death, but you just cannot negotiate that way with terrorists. One candidate who appears to debate was Chris Christie, the republican president ial hopeful has been polling low in the polls in New Hampshire and they say this is what he needed. I think he showed hes clearly the strongest person to take on donald trump and take on Hillary Clinton, the most in command, the most tested and most ready. The rush to coronate other people in this race is over. Be sure to stay with news 9 following our newscast this morning for a special lineup of programming, breaking down the debate and setting the stage for primary week. At 10 00 well have a live look at closeup. This week with George Stephanopoulos will have more analysis at noon followed by as a matter of fact. And news 9 will follow the candidates up until the primary. A special broadcast monday at 10 p. M. To set the stage for the very first ballots. From the time the polls closed until the winners are declared. Certainly an exciting time in the state. Those first votes will be cast at midnight, its coming up fast. Indeed. North korea confirms it successfully launched a long range rocket. The country is already facing harsh criticism. Not just here to add beauty good morning and welcome back, weve got bright skies around today. Clear skies allowing some sunshine and milder conditions. It will be a nicer one today, but things are about to change. We will talk about the chance of snow in your forecast coming right up. Sean all right, josh, thanks. Officials are investigating a amy Massachusetts Police say james tilley of windham fell out of a fourth floor window and died early friday morning. He was a senior majoring in physics with a math minor and a honors college. Sean the community of massachusetts is mourning the sudden death of a father and coach. 48yearold thomas gunning was tending to the back yard hockey rink and a batch came down. This accident came after Kaleigh Kenyon was killed on the other side of town by a branch. Amy north korea launched a rocket as the g. O. P. Debate was getting underway. World leaders are condemning the firing, calling it a potential threat to regional and world still to come this morning, the awkward moment at last night g. O. P. Debate. Ben carson weighed in on what caused the confusion back stage. Josh a live look outside at manchester. Its going to be a nice day today, but snow moves theyre one of the wall street banks that triggered the financial meltdown goldman sachs. Just settled with authorities for their part in the crisis that put seven million out of work and millions out of their homes. How does wall street get away with it . Millions in Campaign Contributions and speaking fees. Our economy works for wall street because its riggedt by wall street. Is bought and paid for, we cant build an economy that works for people. Sanders im Bernie Sanders, now, meteorologist josh judge with your storm watch forecast. Much like we saw a good amount of sunshine, northern New Hampshire may be a bit of an exception with clouds there and flurries around. Here is the look from weirs beach and a couple of things of note here, its certainly clear out there for sure. You can also notice that we still have this line right here where the ice ends, but Colder Weather this upcoming week and into the jump coming next weekend may help change that, but not today. Its going to be above freezing again today and another milder day. Starting off at about the freezing mark in northern New Hampshire. More warmth there because of the clouds that were overhead overnight keeping in some of the warmer temperatures. If you could call it that. But seasonably cool in the teens and 20s in southern New Hampshire. Theres the clouds in the northern part of the state, but clear skies elsewhere. Leading to a lot of sunshine, a next up, its the first of two weather systems that come very close to us. Weve been talking about this for days, of course, the biggest question is exactly how close they come. This system develops, rides up the coast off into the ocean and makes a close pass at us during the day tomorrow. What happens today. Plenty of sunshine, clouds, flurries in northern New Hampshire. Temperatures will be milder than yesterday and above average by about 10 degrees. Upper 30s to lower 40s in most of the state. Mid 30s in northern New Hampshire. We cloud up tonight, tomorrow morning, any sunshine fading away. Here comes the snow from the system that is down south as rain and moves in tomorrow as snow. Scattered light snow at first and then firming up a little bit and settling into the entire state during the overnight hours from monday night into tuesday. You wake up Tuesday Morning to some snow, but then it begins to break up during the morning commute into scattered snow showers for the primary day. Thats the good news is that we should see less snow on tuesday, most of it will be there when showers that will be around. In terms of how much we get from the snow tomorrow night into Tuesday Morning, obviously, well want to stay tuned because if the storm moves farther east or west, that will make a huge difference in these amounts. And two to five inches and then slightly less and less as you head farther to the west. Very cold air building in throughout the rest of the week. We get to mid week and late week and there it is, the polar vortex, youve heard of that. It makes its way down bu next weekend and could be the coldest weather of the week of the season so far. Here is todays high temperatures. As you can see, we make it into the 30s and 40s. Tonight about the same temperatures overnight, and temperatures tomorrow will be noticeably cooler, and the snow developing in the afternoon, into the evening as well. And her is a look at the rest of the week ahead. A chilly one for much of the week and by next weekend, the coldest, ail eyes trained on should be done by Tuesday Morning, but some scattered snow showers will still be around. Amy the polar vortex is back. Vacation. Josh it takes off the political season, but its back. Amy last nights g. O. P. Debate got off to a rocky state when there was some confusion when some of the candidates would take the stage. Dr. Ben carson. [applause] texas senator ted cruz. [applause] [applause] businessman, donald trump. [applause]. [applause]. Sean and following that minor hickup. Amy the rest of the debate went off without a hitch. About why there was so much confusion. Because i couldnt hear. The acoustics back stage were horrible and there was too much noise out front so you couldnt hear. I kept listening for my name. I think the same thing happened to john kasich. Amy and the rest of the debate went off without a hitch. Sean it wasnt just the republicans in the Granite State last night. The democratic hopefuls were busy campaigning and speaking with potential voters out there. Hillary clinton went doortodoor in manchester and held events in concord and portsmouth. Senator Bernie Sanders rallied supporters at Franklin Pierce university. If we can bring out a decent vote on tuesday, im confident were going to win. And right now, we need to join together to make sure we serve each other and our country. Sanders has an event planned today in ports mitt and clinton before travelling to flint, michigan. Amy quite a pace. Sean the republican candidates take the stage one last time before the first in the nation primary. It wasnt just voters who were excited about the debate on kids at ywca in manchester also got to learn about politics. This was the first ever fun day. Parents and children were encouraged to learn about issues important to families. It was sponsored by groups, including a video booth where the children can tell what is important to them. En like the onesie there. The pond hockey classic, the mild winter forced them to move the event. Thousands of spectators, as many as 1800 players around new england make the classic a tradition now. Pond hockey classic organizers say the move had its challenges. When were on the bay in meredith, its right in the village. People are parking and locking down and having fun. You have to be transported in, but once theyre here, its the same hockey action. Out. It wraps up today. Hampton beach to take part in the penguin plunge. Yesterday, High Schoolers around the state joined our Kevin Skarupa in a grass skirt and a hawaiian shirt to jump into the chilly atlantic, its in the 40s degrees. Amy a hawaii theme, it looks like. P im Hillary Clinton and i no one covers New Hampshire like we do, now, wmur news 9 amy good morning, its 7 30, im amy coveno. We have a live look at the big lake in meredith. 28 degrees and theyre searching for ice. Sean a credit to that bob house, it survived the weather. Josh will have that. First big stories on the half hour, it was a big night for the president ial candidates as they debated for the last time before the primary. Amy some say theyre closer to making a decision. Lets head over to josh judge. Josh its going to be an interesting couple of days, a beautiful start to our day today and wrap up for the weekend as well. Look at the sunrise here over at the seacoast. Clear skies, the temperatures are certainly chilly around most of the states south of the notches. North of the notches, look, its warmer thanks to the clouds. You see the clouds, a few flurries in northern New Hampshire. Central and southern New Hampshire, partly sunny for a pretty pleasant day is on the way. Tomorrow could be different as this system makes its way up toward us and moves just off shore, but close enough to bring some snow tomorrow afternoon and evening into early Tuesday Morning, well talk about the impact there. But today, its going to be a nice one out there, temperatures in the 30s and even low to mid 40s, a look at how much snow could fall tomorrow and into Tuesday Morning, coming up in a few minutes. The republican president ial candidates will be back on the campaign trail this Morning Hours after facing off. Several took the stage at st. Anselm college addressing a number of topics. Ray brewer has some of the highlights. Earlier we told you about some of the exchanges between marco rubio, Chris Christie and donald trump. Now this time well take a look at other four candidates who shared this stage. During the last debate, before the first in the nation primary, ben carson, Whose Campaign is largely ignored in his loss in iowa where the Ted Cruz Campaign told voters he was dropping out of the race. It gives us a very good example of certain types of washington ethics. Washington ethics, basically says if its legal, you do what you need to do. Senator cruz said hed give the military more leeway to fight wars by loosening rule of engagement. We should pews overwhelming force, kill the enemy and get the heck out. Dont get involved in nation building. Instead of risking their lives with politicians making it impossible to accomplish the objective. John kasich continued to pitch himself as the positive candidate staking out moderate territory on issues like immigration. I think that congress would pass the plan, to finish the border, a path to legalization, not citizenship and weve got to get this done. Total overhaul of the Veterans Administration. Citing a living vet who received his own death notice. He was told that he died, the Veterans Administration sent a death certificate to this guy and took nine months to clarify the guy i met him and hes voting for me and hes likely to be alive. All of the republican candidates who took part in the debate will be making Campaign Stops across New Hampshire today. Fellow republicans, Carly Fiorina and jim gilmore will also be here and on the democratic side, both Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders will be in the Granite State today. Now, you can learn more details about their Campaign Stops by checking out the candidate tracker in the politics section of wmur. Com. In the studio, ray brewer, wmur news 9. Amy wmur political director Josh Mcelveen was on the panel asking questions during last nights debate and one of the most pressing issues in New Hampshire is the opioid crisis, josh touched on that causing some of the president ial senator cruz, youre a member of that committee and your Campaign Schedule didnt allow you to answer this, the police chief called it outrageous, different the severity of the problem. You told a perm personal story with a family members struggle. What can you saw to Law Enforcement that you understand the severity of this program and not just saying what people want to hear days before the primary. Josh, as you noted this is a firsthand. My older sister miriam, who was my half sister, struggled her whole life with drug and alcohol addiction. This is an epidemic and we need leadership to solve it. Solving it has to occur at the state and local level with programs like aa and counseling and churches and charities, but it also has to occur, securing the borders, youve got mexican cartels smuggling vast amounts we know how to secure borders, what is missing is the political will to do it and as president i will secure the border well end this deluge of drugs. Senator cruzs point, take it a step further, would you engage in cross border in mexico where they trace a lot of this supply back to, would you engage in cross border enforcement without the cooperation of the mexican government. Of course i would, as a former prosecuting attorney who spend fighting this. Police chief nick willard is responding after ted cruz spoke about not attending the meeting. Given senator ted cruzs answer to the question about his absence i question further his sincerity on the issue. He couldnt attend the Committee Senators testified. Fresh off the debate stage, they made their way to the spin room. And donald trump. Here is a look what they had to say about New Hampshire. You know . When you spend as much time and, you know, a hundred town hall meetings, ive met people everywhere, ive just fallen in love with the people of the state. I see the people are tuesday. Weve done well with the undecideds and theyre amazing people and New Hampshire is a great place. Lindsey graham shared why he wants jeb bush as president , he recently backed jeb. My hope for tonight for jeb is to show temperament, background and experienced and relaxed in the idea of being president. If i went to sleep tonight knowing that jeb is president tomorrow, i would sleep well. Some of these guys, not so much. Has some of the lowest poll numbers in New Hampshire outlined his plan as the primary draws closer. When it comes to campaigning, he wont be changing much. I dont need to change the strategy, i just need to get in front of more people and i will be doing that. The key thing is messaging here and always telling the truth and sticking with the issues that are important to america. Well, with only two days left until the primary, many New Hampshire voters say they havent decided who theyll be voting for tomorrow tuesday. During saturdays debate, our Shelley Walcott watched with some voters hoping for swayed one way or another. Theyre saying theyre closer to knowing who theyll vote for. After the debate many leaned toward the governor. Bush or kasich. I was looking at kasich and i strength tonight, however, i changed, i thought that jeb bush came out strong. Kasich and christie. As for the frontrunners, one of our undecideds say theyve been swayed to vote for donald trump who is leading the pack. I just think that donald trump is too divisive. I think that every other word out of mr. Trumps mouth is crazed. I think hes brought unusual life to the whole campaign process particularly here in New Hampshire. As president. Marco rubio has been polling in second place in New Hampshire since the strong showing in the Iowa Caucuses, but many say tonights debate showed what experience. I was not impressed. I wanted to be impressed by him because i thought he might be the establishment alternative to trump and cruz, but i was not impressed. I felt that the first part of his debate was repetitive. An empty shirt. Ive always got that impression about him. That, again, the opportunity to see him up close several times and sort of the same Program Every time. Some of our undecideds say they havent made a choice and may decide on voting day. Im going to go home and do my Fact Checking tomorrow to see who is who. And here is a look at what the dnc had to say following the Republican Debate. We see republicans first tripping all over themselves at the beginning and then going back to canned talking points, insults, shushing and really disrespectful tone that marked this campaign and dog whistle politics. Thats why were handing out dog whistles at the press at the Republican Debate to sort of highlight how many times republicans are going after and really the ugliest elements of politics. You really see that democrats are focused on Building Energy, enthusiasm, getting voters polls are tightening up is a reflection of that enthusiasm and the energy that theyre driving. Remember for all things politics, head over to wmur. Com. See the memorable moments from last nights debate. See videos from the debate. Weve collected a few videos. A lot going on here. Amy we hope you stay with us. Coming up next, now that the debate is over, the focus is shifting to the first in the nation primary. Were live with a political analyst to break down what the candidates face in the final days. Sean the bruins needed overtime. See the game winner in sports. Josh another nice one to wrap up the weekend. Lots of sunshine, temperatures to talk a little bit more about the g. O. P. Debate this morning. Were joined by a familiar face here at wmur. Political analyst, thank you for waking up on a sunday morning. Appreciate it. Love it, sean. Sean talk about the debate. Everybody wants to know who are last night was the night for the governors. John kasich, Chris Christie and jeb bush, they overperformed, which is good at the end. Its leaving so solid leaving voters with a head scratching what do we do now situation. This field and the outcome may have gotten into doubt. We want to talk about the losers in this, too. A lot of people saying that marco rubio taking shots from Chris Christie, how did he do . Rubio came out of iowa surging doing extremely well and needed to do well in the debate last night. Expectations were high because every debate performance has been so solid for him and he same simply failed to deliver. Chris christie turned the debate into a review of experience and hitting rubio on the campaign trail the republicans version of an obama, a first term senator with no accomplishments and he got that question head on and did not deliver a good answer. Sean do you recall in the past, voters might be more undecided. I totally agree, after last night for whatever factor that debate, i believe it will be a big ones, you went from a two or three person race to four or five options, the governors did so well and put the names in a hat and have a completely different outcome. A lot of people talk about donald trump after the debates, last night didnt seem like it was the true donald trump, maybe a little subdued. I feel like his performance was reminiscent of a person who doesnt want to lose, playing not to lose a game. He was measured and he slammed cruz at the very end, but the reality is, i dont think too many people are talking about him first thing this morning. Theyre talking about Chris Christie and marco rubio, that doesnt help donald trump. Talk a little about undecided out there. Days before the election, how much does an event like this change their minds and how important is it in making up their minds . One thing that we know, minute, upwards of half in this cycle say they remain undecided going into tuesday. Last nights performance was hugely important for all seven candidates on the stage. I believe the undecideds might be more undecided now they have a wider, more broad sense of the field and there are four or five people that could change up to seconds or third place or possibly be a spoiler for donald trump. When you hear about Hillary Clinton going to flint, michigan, and ben carson, how important is it for them to be here . Over and over again and john kasich is an example. You have to be here, you have to invest the time and energy and meet facetoface with voters and take their questions, it truly can and does make a difference. Sean scott, thank you very much, amy, back over to you. Dont forget to join us for a special lineup programming right after the show at 10 00, well at noon this week with George Stephanopoulos, more analysis followed by matter of fact, now, meteorologist josh jung judge with your storm watch forecast. Josh were starting off with sunshine out there. A lot of sunshine on tap and milder temperatures, too, youre going to enjoy the day today with temperatures up into the 30s and even low and mid 40s with lighter winds and it will be pleasant. Look at blue skies, sunshine, 28 degrees, but a very pretty picture out there as you can see. Here is a look at temperatures at the moment. Its actually mildest in the northern part of the state as those temperatures are in the lower 30s, and teens and 20s in everywhere else around the Granite State right now as we have those clear skies. Those temperatures will reverse. Look at clear skies, central and southern parts of the state. That means sunshine and milder air mass will do its work as we go through the day today. This is a big storm thats brewing down in southeastern parts of the u. S. Lets show you futurecast and how this evolves from a rain storm in places like florida, georgia, and the carolinas, up the coast and changes into snow as it moves past us during the day tomorrow. So, here is a look at the low Pressure Center. Were telling you for days, there are two of them. Here is the one and i think one is more meaningful and more impact to us here in New Hampshire. The low Pressure Center tomorrow afternoon, bringing in the snow and as it pulls on through, snow for the entire state, highest amounts in the eastern half of the state because youre closest to the storm. Then, a Second System pulling up. This is the one thats been the bigger wild card. The data today suggesting it stays farther out to sea. Thats good news for primary day. Just some snow showers, here or there, possible flurries on tuesday, wednesday as well. Here is a look at futurecast for today. A lot of sunshine is looking likely. Lighter winds, some snow showers in the mountains. Tomorrow morning, clouding up quickly. Snow first in southern New Hampshire and mid day and in the afternoon, light snow at times, central and southern New Hampshire working its way to northern New Hampshire by evening. Steadiest and most accumulating during the evening and nighttime hours into early Tuesday Morning. But by the time we get to the morning commute, look at it start to break up here, thats good news for voting day, we could start off with shovelling or snow blowing, things calm down a little bit and it will be chilly out there, a few more snow showers are a possibly on wednesday and maybe thursday. In terms of accumulations, highest amounts. Two to five inches, maybe a spot six inch amount at the seacoast. But, still, a couple inches likely most locations. For today, a nice one. Upper mid to low 30s for tonight. Upper teens, lower 20s, tomorrow were going to be 20s as we head into tuesday and were going to see the voting day just some snow showers and temperatures in the upper 20s, so chilly weather on tap for the week ahead and coldest weather perhaps of the entire season late week and into next weekend. Now we check out sports. Now, news 9 sports. Hey, everyone, well start on the ice with the bruins. Last night they played the back half of the home and home series with the buffalo sabres. This one at t. D. Garden in boston. Pick it up, a great chance, but the defender loses a stick and goes after marchand. So he got a penalty shot and he delivers. A beautiful shot. The game winner, his 24th of the year. Bruins take it 21 in overtime and boston hosts the kings on tuesday. Plenty of pink over at the Verizon Wireless arena as and 20 manchester after one, late in the second. Mcpherson gets el myra on the board. They win it 42. Same two teams play again this afternoon. Its a 1 00 start. Huge win for unh last night at 8th ranked umass lowell. 32 the final. Danny made 43 saves for New Hampshire and jack berry, a goal and assist to help lead dartmouth past brown. 63 was the final in that one. High school hockey, merrimack, hosting spaulding. A shot from the point and m mccutchen a redirection. Merrimack wins it 64. Dont forget, super bowl 50 kicks off tonight at 6 30. The Denver Broncos and carolina panthers, panthers quarterback cam newton was named the nfl offensive player of the year last night as well as the his first super bowl tonight. On the other side, Peyton Manning has the broncos back for the first time in three years, its his fourth super bowl overall. Its a real privilege to be a part of that team just like its an honor and privilege to be a part of this team that gary kubiak has led us to this opportunity and being the quarterback on both teams, i do not take it for granted in any way and im very grateful for the opportunities. A dream to play out as it has, through the ups and downs, it means the world for us to get what you prepare for. All right, kickoff at 6 30, sunday. Sean as jason mentioned super bowl 50 will kick off at 6 30 tonight with the Denver Broncos and carolina panthers. During last nights debate the candidates shared a light hearted moment where they sdus discussed who they thought would win the lombardi. Favorites, but i think that everybody will be watching with the commercials in new england, anyway. Amy and the snacks, i guess. As you know, Media Outlets are from around the country and amy they were welcomed with an Innovative Press room at the arena. It was showing Google Search trends in realtime and treated with samples of maple syrup to take home. We caught up with the cafe that was brought in to warm up and fuel the photographers and producers busy on the campaign trail. We have some experience, we were down in charleston, for the debates down in charleston. Its our job just to be here and add, you know, a little bit of experience to all the press that have been running around all over the country for the last few months. Amy 15 networks from around the world were on site at st. Anselm college covering last nights debate. What better place to google myself than there. Which i do. Josh you talked in and they i had said sean. Sean trending and seeing it live. Josh weve got a great day today. Tomorrow is going to be a thicken up and snow. The good news for primary day it comes to an end in the morning of tuesday. And we see some scattered snow showers. Tuesday isnt that bad, like the snow should be just before it and snow showers during the day on tuesday. A chilly week ahead after today. Amy that looks more like a classic february forecast. Josh absolutely. Amy the news continues at the top of the hour with todays top stories. Coming up next, the final debate before the first in the nation primary. Im Hillary Clinton, now on news 9 the pressure is on for the president ial candidates to rally support ahead of the first in the nation primary. Sean newly released poll numbers are giving us an idea where the candidates stand among New Hampshire vote, well take a look at those plus highlights from a heated g. O. P. Debate. No one covers New Hampshire like we do. Now, wmur news 9 this morning. Amy good morning, New Hampshire. Its 8 00 on sunday, february 7th, im amy coveno. Sean im sean mcdonald. Two days to the primary. Were following breaking news, commitment 2016 news. Brand new numbers from our president ial debate. Of things. This polling of likely New Hampshire primary voters wrapped up before the debate last night. And the candidate who dominated the polls so far continues his donald trump is on top of the heap at 33 . Amy next, marco rubio and ted cruz, rubio is next at 16 , ted cruz, who won the iowa caucus is at 14 . The three governors are next, here is how it breaks down this morning, Ohio Governor john kasich at 11 followed by former Florida Governor jeb bush at 7 and new Jersey Governor Chris Christie at 4 . Sean again, these are fresh poll numbers. Rounding out the poll for g. O. P. , Carly Fiorina at 6 and dr. Ben carson at 2 . Interesting to note that 55 of still trying to make a definitive decision. Lets move now to the democrats and the big lead remains for senator Bernie Sanders, but he dropped a few points. Amy the poll just into the news room, sanders at 58 , former secretary of state, Hillary Clinton is at 35 . And for the dems, 39 , 39 still trying to decide. Both at about half, we dont know where this is going to go. Much more on our 2016 coverage in a minute. First lets talk weather with josh judge. Josh hi there, yeah, we have some snow to talk about with our forecast. Were talking about sunshine except northern New Hampshire where we have clouds and flurries. Our camera in berlin showing that. The warmer temperatures are in northern New Hampshire and the clouds all night long. Clear skies allow for chillier conditions in central and southern New Hampshire, but that resers certifies verses itself and see the flurries in the northern part of the state. That trend continues especially for the Morning Hours and then well watch this weather system right here, it rides up the coast like this and makes it close pass at us tomorrow. Bringing some snow. Well talk about that in more details, how much to expect in our forecast in a moment. For today, as you can see, the temperatures are pleasant, upper 30s, low to mid 40s for lots of sunshine, that snow forecast coming right up. Amy that sunshine has been a treat. With days to go before the first in the nation primary, the republican candidates faced off one last time before they headed to the polls. Sean several hopefuls went head to head during the debate and got quite heated. Good morning, ray. Good mornings, sean, one candidate in particular seemed to have a target on his back during this debate. Florida senator marco rubio. Heated exchanges between marco rubio and new Jersey Governor Chris Christie dominated the early action in the g. O. P. Debate. You have not been involved in a consequential decision where you had to be held accountable. You just simply havent. Under Chris Christies governorship of new jersey theyve been down gra graded in their credit rating. This country has a debt problem we dont need to add to it by elect be somebody who ran up the the notion that barack obama there it is, the memorized 25 second speech. Donald trump ended up taking on an audience which repeatedly booed him. The rnc told us we have all donors in the audience and the reason theyre not loving me the reason theyre not excuse me, the reason theyre not loving me, i dont want their money. During the debate, trump did not release as many jabs as were used to seeing from him. Instead of let his rivals fight amongst themselves. In a half hour well hear with ben carson, ted cruz, jeb bush, had to say before the final debate before the New Hampshire primary. Ray brewer. Amy our political director Josh Mcelveen was one of the candidates posing questions. One of the heated exchanges after Northern Pass and Eminent Domain. Mr. Trump you have said, quote, i love Eminent Domain, property for the sake of the greater good, theoretically. Youve tried to use the measure in business endeavors and said youd support its use for the skistone project. Here in New Hampshire, knowns a the Northern Pass, would bring electricity to the northern grid. Would you see Eminent Domain as a tool. When Eminent Domain is used on a persons property, that person gets a fortunate, at least fair market value if theyre smart two or three times the value of their property. Without Eminent Domain you dont have roads, highways, schools, bridges, anything, Eminent Domain, not that i love it, but its a necessity for a country. And certainly its a necessity for our country. So thats a yes on the yes. The difference, what donald trump did was use Eminent Domain to try to take the property of an elderly woman on the strip in atlantic city, to turn this to his casinos is not public use and in florida based on what we did, we made that impossible as part of our constitution. Thats the better approach, the conservative approach. Mr. Trump, 30 seconds. He wants to be a tough guy. Doesnt work. Let me talk. How tough is it to take property from an elderly woman. And following that exchange, Google Search showed Eminent Domain. And how social media is playing such a big role in this election. Im jean mackin on the floor of the google spin room at st. Anselm edgecle. Beneath us used to be an ice hockey rink and now its covering the g. O. P. Debate. About 500 members of the press is here. One moment when wmur political director Josh Mcelveen questioned about Northern Pass and Eminent Domain. And the top Google Search turned to what is Eminent Domain. And latoya from Google Search, thats a tremendous spike about people asking about Eminent Domain. We have a busy night tonight and tomorrow night the super bowl. And what is Eminent Domain topped what time the super bowl comes on. That shows to people were paying attention perhaps to what was happening at the debate. We looked at Google Search terms for the press to see tonight. One interesting thing, in the state by state searches, the top searched candidate at one point was marco rubio. Tell us why thats interesting . Its interesting because when we went into the debate, donald trump was the most searched candidate nationally and also in every candidate throughout New Hampshire. Throughout the debate marco the most searched throughout the debate and at the end. Night. Interesting snapshots into social media, what people were thinking about, what they were interested in, and what got them talking, during the g. O. P. Debate. Im jean marken, wmur, news 9. Thanks, toward the end. Debate, things took a somber tone when it turned to james foley, executed by isis overseas. The question to candidates, what should they say to james foleys mother and should individuals be able to collect ransom. With ransom, it puts a bounty on americans. Thats why theres a longstanding possible we dont negotiate with terrorists and dont pay ransoms. You cannot negotiate this way with terrorists. If you do, youd have many, many have done a good job since his death, but you cannot negotiate that way with terrorists. One candidate who appears to have done well in last nights debate was Chris Christie, the republican president ial hope hfl has been polling low, recently in New Hampshire and his Campaign Strategist says this is the debate that christie needed. I think that governor christy was the winner tonight and the strongest person that can take on and ultimately beat donald trump and ultimately take on Hillary Clinton in the fall of this year. He was clearly, the most in command, the most tested, the most ready and i think that the rush to coronate other people in this race is over. Be sure to stay with news 9, for a special lineup of programming, breaking down the debate and setting the stage for primary week. At 10 00, a live hour long closeup and George Stephanopoulos at news and matter of fact, in addition to our regular programming, we will p. M. To set the stage for the very first ballots and on tuesday, continuous live coverage from the time the polls close until the winners are declared. Its an exciting time. A reminder, three communities will be doing midnight voting, it should be interesting. Amy coming up tomorrow. Next on news 9 this morning, north korea confirms it successfully launched a good morning and welcome back. Hey, here is a look at the clear blue skies out there. Well see a lot of sunshine, temperatures will be milder today. 30s and even 40s out there and light winds, it should be a fairly pleasant day to get outside and do things, but there are more chances for snow. Snow is on the way again, well tell you when and how much to expect a few minutes away. Starting to feel like winter out there. Officials are investigating a tragic accident at umass. Massachusetts police say james tilley of windham fell out of a fourth floor window and he was a senior majoring in physics with a math minor and a member of the commonwealth honors college. Sean this morning, massachusetts is mourning the death of a father and coach. A man was taking care of the back yard rink after a tree fell on him. This came after Kay Lee Leigh Kenyon was hit and killed by a branch falling. North korea launched a rocket as the g. O. P. Debate was getting underway. This comes a month after the countrys Fourth Nuclear test. Now World Leaders are lining up to condemn the firing, calling it a threat to regional and world security. Still to come, the debate is finished and the primary just we sit down with a political analyst to discuss whats next for the candidates. Josh . Now, meteorologist josh judge with your storm watch 9 forecast. We start the weekend the way we ended the first half yesterday with more sunshine on the way for today. Theres a great look at mount monadnock over there in the southwestern part of the state and the temperature 18 degrees right now. Blue skies, very pleasant start to the day. Its a little bit crisp out there, that snow probably a little crunchy this morning, but we will be softening it up as the day goes along with warmer temperatures. Its mildest right now in the North Country and thats because of the clouds out there overnight. They kept the warmth in and the temperatures allowed to get much colder in central and southern New Hampshire thanks to the clear skies, but the clear skies lead to sunshine for today and it will be a pretty nice one out there. But, were keeping our eyes on this system here. Southeastern parts of the u. S. Seeing it as rain, but it turns into snow for us. Weve been talking about how there will be two systems passing by. It looks like the first one that the one that impacts of us more, the second one, tuesday into wednesday, much less of an impact as it will stay farther out to see. For today, clouds in the state, flurries and a snow showers or two. The rest of the state. Partly to mostly sunny as i mentioned, but things cloud up overnight. We wake up tomorrow morning to increasing clouds and fading sunshine and then by about mid day to early afternoon, maybe even late morning in a few spots, far southern New Hampshire, here comes some of the snow from the system that rides up just off the east coast and brings in snow tomorrow, mid day, lunchtime, perhaps, into the afternoon, spreading northward. It may be spotty off and on at times at first in the afternoon and then getting steadier through the nighttime hours. Steadiest tomorrow night into early Tuesday Morning, but you wake up Tuesday Morning, primary day and it starts to let up. Scattered snow showers. Shovel agoen snow blowing to do, but shouldnt have too much snow. Wednesday, a few more are possible as well. In terms of accumulation, this is what develops tomorrow night to Tuesday Morning, two to five inches, maybe more at the coast if the storm comes closer. Remember, this storm off the eegs ocean here, a slight jog could vary just a little. Eastern New Hampshire the most and lesser amounts as you head west, but still several inches to be dealing with. As the week goes along a big dip in the jetstream developing, and cold air reinforcing all week and by the time we get to next weekend, this could be the coldest weather that weve seen all season long next weekend. But first things first. Beautiful day after 30s low to mid 40s out there. Typical temperatures tonight. Tomorrow, were looking at temperatures in the 20s with that snow moving in and a quick look at primary day, your voting day will be mid to upper 20s here is a look at the week, Beautiful Day and tapering, ending in scattered snow showers on tuesday. Amy thank you, josh. Now that were days away from the primaries, were lucky enough to be joined by scott. How the candidates did in last nights debate. We have fresh poll numbers here, but put it into perspective. They came in before the debate. The daily tracking poll is just before the debate. When you take a look at donald trump is on top 33 and a huge gap between he and ted cruz and marco rubio, factor those numbers into a debate in which pretty much, if the media has its say, Chris Christie won last night, won going away. The governors, jeb bush and john kasich did very well. Marco rubio is seen as the person who lost the debate. That jump believes these up. Another thing to keep in mind, the exact numbers, i wouldnt put a lot of stock in them. I think that the electorate in New Hampshire is still making up its mind. A lot of people have not decided yet and this could move around, this is an extremely fluid race. Amy ok. And in the wake of the debate, now its the spin time, right. Yes. Amy these are the crucial hours, are we going to see these campaigns making some adjustments into what theyre doing or how theyre saying they did in last nights debate . Absolutely, its the importance of a debate this late in the game. Now they have to talk about it. What i would call the republican interpretive dance that each do. Chris christie will run around New Hampshire this point saying two things, one, i just won last night and here is why. Two, experience matters. All three governors can walk away saying this is why i should be your top choice. Marco rubio is going to have to have to do some damage control, he lost out talking about leadership and experience in washington. He fumbled that question badly damage control and try to shift the conversation back to where he had that post iowa momentum. Amy what about donald trump . We saw tam pd down donald trump and hell cash amountlize on the numbers. Donald trump has rewritten every potential rule for running for president in New Hampshire and elsewhere. Hes doing it his way. I continue hell continue to be donald trump. One thing im interested of, the interpretation of the Eminent Domain question that josh asked last night. Thats a big topic in New Hampshire. Maybe not nationally, but when youve got the Kinder Morgan debate and Northern Pass, even though theyre not using Eminent Domain and the way that trump embraced it, that could turn voters off, and thats a factor. Amy thank you for that analysis. Sean coming up next, the republican candidates took the stage one last time before the first in the nation primary last night. What they had to say and the wasnt just the republicans in the Granite State last night. The democratic hopefuls were campaigning and speaking with potential voters. Hillary clinton went doortodoor in manchester and held events in concord and portsmouth. And Bernie Sanders rallied supporters at Franklin Pierce university. If we can bring out a decent vote on tuesday, im confident right now, we need to join together to make sure we serve each other and our country. Sanders has events planned for today portsmouth and clinton will continue campaigning today before travelling to flint, michigan. Amy today hundreds of people will flock to Hampton Beach to take part in the penguin plunge. Saturday High Schoolers joined our Kevin Skarupa to jump into a chilly atlantic ocean. The proceeds go to the Special Olympics. Kevin does those back to back days. Sean he does. The water is 42 degrees, even though its nice outside, cold. Not an easy jump to make. Amy no, here is another look at whats coming up in our next half hour. We have our coverage of the g. O. P. Debates, a wrapup of the there are those who say we cannot defeat a corrupt political system but i believe we need to lift our vision and look to the american horizon. To a nation where every child can not only dream of going to college, but attend one. Where quality healthcare will be a birthright of every citizen. Where a good job is not a wish, but a reality. Where women receive equal pay and a living wage an america where after a lifetime of labor, for rest and grandchildren. A nation that defends our people and our values, but no longer carries so much of that burden alone. I know we can create that america if we listen to our conscience and our hearts and not to the pundits and the naysayers. Im Bernie Sanders. I approve this message, no one covers New Hampshire like we do. Now, wmur news 9 this morning. Amy we begin with breaking commitment 2016 coverage this morning, brand new numbers from our wmur cnn poll following last nights president ial debate. Sean lets start with the republican side of things. This polling of likely New Hampshire voters wrapped up right before the debate last night. And the candidate who has dominated the polls so far continues his lead. Donald trump is on top of the heap at 33 . Next, marco rubio and ted cruz, rubio is at 16 , ted cruz who won Iowa Caucuses is at 14 . Amy the three governors are next, here is how it breaks down this morning. Ohio governor kasich at 11 , followed by former Florida Governor jeb bush at 7 and Chris Christie at 4 . Rounding out the poll for the dr. Ben carson at 2 . And interesting to note that 55 are still trying to make a definitive decision. Sean the undecideds out there. Lets go to the democrats. Bernie sanders dropped a few points, at 58 . Former secretary of state Hillary Clinton at 35 . Picking up 4 points. And for the dems, 39 are still trying to make up their minds in this. Amy feels like anybodys race still. Yeah. Well have more commitment 2016 coverage in just a minute. First lets check with josh judge. Hes in the Weather Center. Hi, josh. Josh it looks like yesterday, but milder wind, 27 at the seacoast now with blue skies. The temperatures around the region, highly depends where you are. Very, variable. Teens and 20s in central and southern New Hampshire. Laconia jumped to 30 and thanks around, they topped the milder temperatures in overnight, but you notice there are some snow flurries and showers in the northern part of the state and were expecting those to continue through the Morning Hours and the rest of the state will see sunshine. Here is the system that will move up the coast, just off the coast tomorrow. It moves in, bringing snow and, yes, there is accumulating snow expecting them. Well talk about that and much more detail on our full forecast, as you can see, today looks nice, 30s to low to mid 40s. Well detail that coming up. Amy the republican pardon me, president ial candidates will be back on the campaign trail this morning just hours after facing off in their final debate before the New Hampshire primacy. Sean they were at st. Anselm college addressing a number of topics. Ray brewer joins us with highlights. Sean and amy. We told you about exchanges between Chris Christie, marco others who shared the stage. During the first in the nation primary, ben carson Whose Campaign largely ignored New Hampshire, looked back on iowa and ted cruz supporters told he was dropping out of the race. It gives us a very good example of washington type ethics. Washington ethics basically says if its legal, you do what you need to do. Senator cruz says hed give the military more leeway, loosening the rules of engagement. We should should overwhelming force, kill the enemy and get the heck out. Dont engage in nation building, but instead allow our soldiers to do their jobs, instead of risking their lives with politicians making it impossible for them to get to the objective. John kasich portrayed himself as the positive candidate. I think that congress would border, guest worker, define a path to legalization and not citizenship. And jeb bush cited a vet the Veterans Administration sent a death certificate to this guy and took nine months to clarify the guy i met him, hes voting for me and likely to be alive. All the republican candidates who took part in the debate will make Campaign Stops in New Hampshire. Fellow republicans, Carly Fiorina and jim gilmore will also be here. On the democratic side, both Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders will be in the Granite State today. You can learn more about their campaign stocks the politics tracker in the politics section of wmur. Com in the studio, ray brewer news 9. Mcelveen was on the panel asking the questions. And one of the most concerning is the opioid crisis. He touched on that causing some to get emotional. Senator cruz youre on the committee and your campaign didnt allow to attend this. The police chief called this outrageous given the severity of the program. Last week you told a personal story of a close family members struggle with addiction. What can you say to Law Enforcement to convince them you understand the severity of the problem and not saying what people want to hear days before the primary. Josh, as you noted, this is a problem for me, i understand firsthand. My older sister miriam, who was my half sister, struggled her whole life with drug and alcohol addiction. This is an absolute epidemic, we need leadership to solve it. Solving it has to occur at the state and local level with programs like aa and counseling and churches and charities, but the borders, youve got mexican cartels struggling vast amounts of heroin into this country. We know how to secure the borders, what is missing is the political will to do it, as president i will secure the border, we will end this deluge of drugs. Senator cruzs point, lets take it a step further. Would you be willing to engage in cross border enforcement in mexico and a lot of Law Enforcement in New Hampshire trace this supply back to you, would you engage in cross Border Security into mexico. Of course, i would as a prosecuting attorney for seven years fighting this they made their way to the spin room and the first to sit down with wmur were john kasich and donald trump. Here is what they said about New Hampshire. Look, i feel like im home. A hundred town hall meetings, ive met people everywhere, ive fallen in love with the people of this state. I see were doing well with undecideds and wont know until tuesday. Weve done well, theyre maze amazing people and New Hampshire is a great place. Amy many say theyve still not decided who theyll vote for on tuesday. Sean our Shelley Walcott watched along with voters hopping hoping to be swayed one way or the other. They say theyre a little closer to knowing who theyll vote for. Many said that saturday nights debate has them leaning to the governors. I think ive narrowed down to bush or kasich. I was looking at kasich and i thought he came out with some strength tonight, however, i changed, i thought that Jeb Bush Kasich and christie. As for the frontrunners, no one them said theyre leaning to donald trump. I think hes too divisive. I think every other word out of mr. Trumps mouth in crazed. I think hes brought unusual life to the whole campaign process, particularly here in New Hampshire. I dont think we want him as president. Marco rubio has been polling in second place in New Hampshire since his strong showing in the Iowa Caucuses. But many say tonights debate showed what they call his lack of experience. I was not impressed. I wanted to be impressed by him because i thought he might be the establishment alternative to trump and cruz, but i was not impressed. I felt that the first part of his debate was repetitive. He is he has a thin resume and he is an empty shirt. Ive always got that impression. I had the opportunity to see him of the same Program Every time. Some of our undecideds say they havent made a choice and may just decide on voting day. Im just going to go home and do my Fact Checking tomorrow to see who is who. And here is a look at what the dnc had to say following the Republican Debate. We see republicans, first tripping all over themselves at the beginning and then going back to canned talking points, insults, shushing, and really disrespectful tone thats marked this campaign and their dog whistle politics, and thats why were handing out dog whistles to show how many times theyre going after the ugliest elements of politics. And you see that democrats are focused on Building Energy and enthusiasm and that our polls are tightening up is the amy well discuss the days leading up to the first in the nation primary and what he thinks of last nights debate. For you. A real nice day. Temperatures reach into the 30s and 40s, but theres more snow. Well tell you how much to expect after the break. Coming up in New Hampshires business, New Hampshire has the lowest minimum wage o now its New Hampshires turn, see who we choose in this dangerous time. Hes not flashy, not rude. Hes steady, hes tested and proven. Hes a president , which is what we need to make us strong and safe again. For america, jeb bush. Welcome back, everybody, once again, were joined by political analyst, scott is a familiar g. O. P. Debate last night. Who do you think scored the most points coming out of this debate. Chris christie had a lot he had to do. He had to make an impact because he wasnt the guy being talked about following iowa and last night he did exactly that. He took on marco rubio, the senator from florida who was soaring out of iowa had all kinds of momentum going into last night and he singlehandedly turned this into a discussion about the importance of experience and executive experience. He singlehandedly opened the door for all three governors on the stage opened last night to do well and i think the media universally believes that christie won. What about the guys on the periphery, kasich and carson, do you think he this made up ground. John kasich did well himself, he had a moment to layout his plan for what he would do in the first hundred days. The debate that he would outline what he would do, he was a happy candidate. And ben carson, i dont think he gave him much. And hes dwindling poll numbers. Sean 55 of the g. O. P. Side have not made up a definitive decision yet. 40 on the democratic side. What do you make of that . I think it shows the importance of last nights debate, for jeb bush, Chris Christie and john kasich to have done well, you can take this entire debate field and shake it up and pull names out and get a top three that may not be too far off. The numbers are going to fluctuate and we could see a shocking outcome on the republican side. Weve seen trend lines that are showing that donald trump is coming back to earth in New Hampshire and last nights debate shows this is still anybodys game. Sean so a tough one to call for tuesday. I wont put you on the spot then. Scott, thank you very much. A reminder dont let us forget lineup of programming. At 10 00 we have a live hour long edition of close up, and this week with George Stephanopoulos followed by kwa matter of fact, for all thanks politics, go to wmur. Com and see which candidates helped their cause the most and of course, see video from the debate. Now, meteorologist josh judge with your storm watch 9 forecast. Josh we are going to be seeing another nice one today. Today looks nice, probably nicer than yesterday. We had sunshine yesterday, but today add in milder temperatures. Well into the 30s and likely lower to even mid 40s in a few spots going through the day today. Temperature is 21 in manchester, going up slowly with plenty of sunshine, blue skies for sure, check out the temperatures now. Look where its actually mildest and thats northern parts of the Granite State right now. And thats because you saw the clouds overnight. Little milder at night. We had clear skies in central and southern New Hampshire that allowed for the temperatures to drop more, but theyll recover much nicer through the day today. As i mentioned, 30s and 40s. Clouds in northern New Hampshire. Stick around for much of the day with showers and flurries a possibility. Then this system here, telling you about two areas of low pressure just off the coast, making close passes at new england. It appears this one will be the closest, second one watching for election primary day into wednesday, will be farther away and probably have less impact. Youll want to stick around and keep checking in through the rest of the weekend and tomorrow. Thats the case, but thats what its looking like, the data indicating today. This system here, with a much it come up along the coast here, just off the coast and spread snow here in new england and New Hampshire as well. Highest amounts will be south of austin, cape cod and the islands likely seeing that amount. Around here, the area of low pressure, number one, staying off shore, and here is number two on tuesday, notice its farther off shore and weaker, therefore impacting us less. A possibility of snow showers during the primary day. Breaking sunshine this, otherwise partly to mostly sunny, a nice one for today. The clouds are thickening up. Any sun to the north fades away and snow moves into the mid day hour and afternoon steadiest and best accumulating goes on off sunset tomorrow and tomorrow night and early Tuesday Morning. Could there be problems tuesday. There could be delays maybe, and snow showers could be coming to an end during the morning commute or just before and that will help us on primary day. For sure, there could be snow showers and much of the day will be drier and cold for this upcoming week and wednesday continues as well. In terms of accumulation amounts. Hampshire, coast l a coastal locations and nashua, concord, the cutoff and one to three, the farther west the lower the amounts will be. Because youll be farner away from the ocean system. Here are todays highs. A beautiful one for today. Much colder in the coming weeks. For many milder on wednesday. Into next weekend, very cold, likely the coldest weather weve seen all winter long. Welcome to New Hampshires business, im fred kocher. Minimum wage, let me show you a series of numbers on minimum wages in the new england states. Here is New Hampshire at 7. 25. Maine at 7. 50, but 10. 10 in portland. Vermont, connecticut, rhode island all at 9. 60 and massachusetts at 10. Now, minimum wages in New Hampshire, here is the situation, 7. 25 reflects the federal minimum wage we have defaulted to that one. Walmart in New Hampshire and the u. S. Is now at 14. 29. Retail trade is now the largest employer in New Hampshire and most of those retailers do pay above the minimum wage. With me to talk about this are two people who are intimately engaged in this issue at the state house. They are state senator lou dalessandro. Nice to have you here and bruce burky of Capitol Group in concord, the National Federation of independent businesses and new england Convenience Stores and New Hampshire restaurants and lodging association, welcome, bruce. Great to be here with you and senator dalessandro. Nice to have you. Senator, bill 412 was defeated this past week, raising to 12. The case for that, New Hampshire had its own minimum wage, but repealed when obrien was speaker of the house and now defaulted to the federal level. New hampshire has a thirst for good employees, every business in the state is crying for better educated, better trained, better employees, that weve got a real problem. That Mass Immigration that took place in the past doesnt exist any more. That migration is outword rather than inward. Better jobs in the states, particularly in massachusetts where theyre flocking to massachusetts. So, the minimum wage situation, it was a punitive situation created by a legislature for no reason. There was no reason at all to do that. The legislature always had the power to increase the minimum wage, keep it the same. It was within their jurisdiction. Its been defeated over and over again, year after year. Yes, it has. That i just listed, are opposed to the raising the minimum wage in New Hampshire. Why so . Well, fred, we believe that basically the free market is working. There really isnt any minimum wage workers, very, very few minimum wage workers in the state of New Hampshire. I know in the ski industry, starting wages are at about 10 an hour and in another retail settings, that the wage is up. So, i think that we have a situation where the market is for higher wages. So, you said that the minimum wage businesses that you represent are already paying more. Correct. Ok, now, here we are, surrounded as we put on the screen, surrounded by five other states in new england, all with higher wages than New Hampshire. Is that going to put pressure on businesses and on the legislature, in particular, do you think thats a disadvantage having that kind of a lower minimum wage compared to the other states where employees might tend to go rather than stay here, lou . Sure, absolutely. And we see it. We see that happening now. One of the real cries coming from industry and businesses, we need more employees. We need better trained employees, we need more employees theres a real problem here. We have an Unemployment Rate of. 1 . Lowest in the new england area, so, theres a need for employees and i think when you default to the federal 7. 25, you dont give New Hampshire the opportunity to do more legislatively. I think thats the problem and taking that away was a very, very bad move. Bruce, same question. Well, i think that the legislature has looked at whats happening in the market, and i think that theyre seeing that it really isnt necessary to we dont need to put any arbitrary thresholds out there. Let the market work and the businesses compete and thats what theyre doing. Not a disadvantage in your mind . You have employers paying much more than the minimum wage so they need to compete with those communities. And with bruce from the finney capital group. Thank you. And senator, thank you. An important issue. Thank you, fred. If you want to see that interview again, go to wmur. Com, click on news and then click on project economy. Amy thank you, fred kocher. Ahead on news 9, the bruins lets talk sports right now, the ruins and sabers playing the back half of their home and home series. Boston was looking for the series sweep. Bruins won it in overtime. Hosting the kings on tuesday. Amy tonight, yeah, theres a remember . Super bowl 50 kicks off at 6 30 with the Denver Broncos and carolina panthers.
