Not washington dropping into the Single Digits in the morning. Eight to 10 inches of snow over the last three or four days. You can see more high clouds diving in. There might be a stray shower for the North Country later tonight. Temperatures tonight will not be quite as cold. We are still talking 30 s for overnight lows. A lot less 20 s on the map. The coldest temperature this morning, 14 inland out la ndeau. We will have details in the forecast in a few minutes. Amy thanks to the cold weather, some ski resorts in new england are already open killington ski resort became the first ski resort to open in north america yesterday. Only pass holders were allowed on the slopes yesterday. But this morning, it opened to the public. And in maine sunday river opened , today. Wildcat mountain fired up the snow cannons yesterday, but they don t have an opening date scheduled yet. New hampshire fish and game has put in place an emergency measure after a hunter was shot. He was not seriously injured but they are worried others may not be so lucky. Ray brewer is near one of the sites. I gather this is not a new problem but it seems to be worse this year. Ray that is right. The executive director says presence pheasants prefer open fields. There are fewer of those than in the past. That has led to a concentration of hunters in one area. This year, New Hampshire fish and game is releasing more than 12,000 pheasants for hunting. Something hunters are eager to take advantage of. Glenn normandeau a lot of folks who know the stocking schedules and are showing up at our stocking sites, and really sort of shooting at birds immediately upon release. Ray that activity led to a hunter getting shot last friday. Glenn normandeau an individual was hit by some pellets, basically right in front of our stocking crew. Ray the hunter was not seriously hurt and was treated at the scene, but the executive director of fish and game says the practice of stalking the stocking crews has gotten out of hand. Glenn normandeau i ve had several comments by email from some folks that this year, for some reason, it s the worst they ve ever seen it. Ray adding this is not a new problem. Glenn normandeau we have a report that was written about the Pheasant Program back in 1949 that delineates the same sorts of issues. Ray however, before anyone gets seriously hurt, Effective Immediately no shooting will be allowed at stocking sites this thursday and friday from 07 00 to noon. The director says that should give the hunters and their game a chance to spread out and lessen the chance of someone getting hit. Amy lawyers for a former prep School Student are reiterating the arguments that his most serious conviction be thrown out. He was convicted of five charges in august related to the Sexual Assault of a teenage girl. His lawyers say one charge carries too harsh and a penalty requiring him to register as a sex offender and is inconsistent with the intent that someone convicted of misdemeanor sex assault should not have to register. Jury deliberations resumed today in the murder trial of tristan wolusky. The 19yearold rochester man is charged with first and Second Degree murder in the stabbing death of Aaron Wilkinson in madbury last year. Two other men have already pleaded guilty to Second Degree murder and testified against wolusky. But the defense claims that those men lied, and that wolusky didn t know they had brought knives and a machete. A hotel guest at the radisson in manchester was arrested this weekend. Officers say 25yearold William Maloof of derry refused to leave the hotel. Police escorted him to his car where he hit a parked car and almost hit two officers while backing out. Officers say maloof fought with them, and an officer tackled him to the ground to take him into custody. He s charged with criminal trespass, conduct after an accident, reckless conduct, and resisting arrest. Counselors are on hand today at Spaulding High School in rochester after a student died over the weekend. Today, Police Identified the 17yearold found dead early officers are investigating the death as a possible drug overdose. But an autopsy will determine the exact cause and manner of death. Nashua schools could soon have the heroin antidote narcan on hand. The president of the nashua board of education asked the School Superintendent to study the costs of installing narcan kits. They are looking into adding kits to the high schools and possibly middle schools. A goffstown boy is in Critical Condition at a maine hospital after being hit by a car. We start sauteing onions until not until dark but cooked enough so you start to be in the see through them. After that, i am going to add two cups of vegetable stock. The vegetable stock we make ourselves. Amy you have been going a couple of years. Two years this past april. Amy you are committed to the farm to table idea. This vegetable stock you made at the restaurant. We did. It comes from vegetables from local growers. This pumpkin is from New Hampshire. No cans. We cook these. After it is cooked, we put it into a food processor. You can do the same thing. You don t have to do this the day your cooking. You can do this ahead of time. That way, you always have some in the freezer to whip together a soup whenever you want. Amy love that. Broth. I m going to add spices, cinnamon. I m going to add some nutmeg. And i m going to add some salt. Things with this. I look at this as a base recipe. If you want something more savory, you can add other ingredients. You don t have to do cinnamon. We do a curry pumpkin soup which is good. Amy we have less than a minute. We can add this now, one cup of cream. This is going to look real pretty. 1 3 of a couple of maple syrup as you can see, that is starting to come together. Really, that is all it takes. It is as simple as that. Ready to serve.
