location. but we have burst of snow across the area anywhere from a coating up to an inch tops for most of us. some of the road may be slick. we have a two-hour school delay in frederick county now added to the howard county list. we have got those at bottom of the screen. if you don't have any in your backyard, you may have missed it. baltimore county schools opening two hours late. frederick, howard and baltimore county and we have afternoon flors and in between we will dry out. ellicott city, the problem has been a little snow. but that's dropped temperatures from near freezing to 28. that could cause a quick slick and that's what we have in howard county. the last flakes in howard county may be in the next, let's say, 10 to 20 minutes. baltimore has it. i want to pull this back. you can see the darker blues where the heavier snow is falling. it's pushing into harford county. for those in cecil county it should be there any moment. and we have it crossing the bay bridge. kent island on the eastern shore. antigen idea here for most of us, is that we will have ourselves a dusting up to an inch of snow slightly higher amounts off toward the north and east as this disturbance swings through the area. more on the opts in the forecast coming up. -- in the amounts in the forecast coming up. now kim brown has the spie he civics on the -- specifics on the road. >> reporter: we are keeping an eye on the road temperatures. it's cold enough to freeze. temperatures between 33 degrees as low as 22 in someplaces. so keep this in mind. that could make for a slick ride. we are seeing snow falling in howard and baltimore county look live at beltway. traffic is moving well. you see the streak beginning to -- streets slick up a little bit. we have reports of a couple accidents not too far in glen oaks a pair of crashes on liberty road. one at liberty and he is ex and essex and the second at liberty and south of the beltway, police activity with a road closure. meadow ridge road closed between route 1 and roosevelt possibly reopened by about six. charlie, back to you. >> thanks a lot. new for you this morning at 5:32, i-95 reopened overnight at two suspicious packages were found. now a driver first spotted the first package around 10:30 under the i-95 bridge near meadow ridge and hunt shire drive. officers closed both directions of the interstate at meadow rimming and let businesses and residences know what was going on. investigators found a second package in that same vicinity. both of those packages posed no significant danger at all. the same couldn't be said for the government workers in hanover and annapolis after two were injured when two packages caught fire. abc2's megan pringle is live at the site of one of the burnings in hanover. now, megan, the concern this morning is will workers be safe when they walk in the doors today? found by a driver around 10:30 under the i-95 bridge between meadow ridge roadin elk ridge. officers closed both directions of i-95 at med row ridge road to let business -- meadow ridge road to let business andresidents know what was going on. they found a second package in the general vicinity of the first. both packages or neither posed danger at all. the same couldn't be said for two events in anne arundel county. yesterday afternoon, it caused moments of panic and sent police scrambling as well as federal agents swarming two locations 20 miles apart. abc2's megan pringle is live at one of the locations. megan, very tense moments yesterday. >> reporter: absolutely. we are talking about two different buildings, 20 milesapart. both in anne arundel county. one of the buildings, the one behind me which is the maryland department of transportation in hanover, this place was evacuated yesterday. but today, the doors are going to be back open. this all started after two suspicious packages were found. they were about the size of two small books ignited and released a sulfur like smell when they were opened at the two maryland government buildings. two employees burned their fingers. we are told the injuries not serious. now the other package was found 20 miles from where we are now. this one in annapolis. just about half a block from the statehouse. a package with what they are describing as an insinneddary device was opened and a flash of fire went off along with the smoke and the odor i described earlier. that was the reaction. that package had a note complaining about the signs that we see when they tell you if you see something suspicious to report it. and this package was addressed to the governor. >> and emergency officials responded to that location. the headquarters was evacuated. >> we are working with the federal agencies postal service and the fbi and atf had folks here as well. >> reporter: now the package was addressed to 100 state circle annapolis which is the address of the statehouse. and it was identifying and they he knew it was connected to the other one because of the five christmas like postage stamps on the package. now after all of this happened, as you can imagine, they told every state building you have to be careful. and the mail rooms were look out for something suspicious and that caused a little panic in downtown baltimore. some of the streets were blocked off near mlk boulevard that turned out to be nothing. however, authorities do want to stress they believe that this is the work of one person, a lone wolf as they are describing him or her and they will investigate to find out who did this and why. megan pringle, abc2 news. >> thanks a lot. new for you this morning, mechanical problems forced a medivac helicopter to land in someone's backyard in reisterstown. it was in route to pick up a patient around 8:30 thursday night. none of the crew members were injured. no word on what caused that medivac to have to make the emergency landing. southwest airlines is changing its frequent flyer program to encourage customers to buy higher priced tickets by letting them urn bonus flights faster. passengers will be able to redeem points for any flight without black outdates. credit card holders had be able to get points for flights on other airlines as well. the program is set to launch on march 1st. now, maryland's most powerful doppler radar and the forecast certified most accurate by weatherate. i want to thank andrea malcolm who told me that she is in northern harford county at the pa line and said the road are bad in harford county on the north side. be careful. we have a bunch of school closings and mostly delays on the bottom of our screen. now look, this is a snow outside of the building. burst of snow almost precision schedule here with the first flakes arriving 3:30 to 4. it's approaching 6:00 and we have snow sticking on our road surfaces and cars. and if you are on an untreated area where it was near freezing and dropped, it could be a quick, slick layer of sighs and just enough to cause a problem and a nuisance. thanks very much. harford county will pass that along. cecil county is coming your way. and you can see this band that's this blue. see the deep blue. that's the trough. that's the influence in the atmosphere that has new york city concerned. and this is the one that just flared up east of frederick and got some enhancement off the chesapeake and is pulling in moisture from the atlantic. and this is the one we get to watch pull to the northeast as it spins out of here. this is the issue. there's a not down there. that is right on top of kent island crossing the bay bridge east of annapolis. and there's going to be a burst of snow and it could be a quick one inchch or more because it's very fluffy. it doesn't take a lot of moisture to pile this up. just enough because the bases around the bay hovering near freezing there could be some moderate icing conditions out there. kent island eastern shore and easton centreville maybe denton and north through millington could have snow issues this morning. not a heck of a lot but just enough to cause the problem. we have given an average dusting to an inch. and we verify that for everybody. that one to three, i know some of you in central york county is not getting much. but you've had a coating to a half inch on the ground and upwards to an inchch or more in that northern har forecounty zone. we have you slated in there yesterday morning. want to point that out north and northeast of bel air and cecil county we have slightly higher amounts. if you get to that three, it might be an impressive local feat. but most of you in the one inch plus range and there will be more up towards the north and east. generally, this is a morning event. we have the snow moving to the east over the next couple hours. even though we say nine, that is going to be east of the area. we won't have snow. less is falling for most of us baltimore west bind. and a little sun breaks out and we will have flurries mixed in the afternoon. another shot this evening and tonight where we expect snow showers and maybe another quick inch as we had towards daybreak. back to 24. you know once you get into the winter mode, an inch is not a big deal especially in the cold pattern as we follow this very cold flow of air pushing through new york and another hint of snow from iowa back through southern sections of illinois. and we are watching basically the upper-level low to the north. it's the trough that's swinging through and enhances for new england and that's where they could get big winning amounts as we get dry air work in during the afternoon. heavier snow north and east shows you this map. we can verify that one to three towards philly and south central new jersey. you get to metro new york and 3 to 8 inch range. the suburbs 8 and up towards the catskills and on in through places of connecticut could get upwards close to a foot or more. isolated real heavy burst with the event. and it's a very localized thing but a unique thing as well. for us, again, our snow passes through the area the next couple hours. we get clearing today and the clouds come back with afternoon flurries and we will look for another shot of light snow overnight and through early in the morning and then we will wait for the next big event heading through next week. we are expecting a storm to head on through by tuesday. but until then, we should have ourselves a weekend with spotty snow showers. we could have a burst tomorrow morning. flurries in the afternoon and it's unsettled and cold and near 30s. lows in the lower 20s. you can't see that split because of the delayed banner at the bat -- bottom of the screen. 37 on monday. the coastal storm looks like a good chance, too early to say amounts but a moderate snowfall heading through tuesday. let's go to the roads and we
