going to be like, so let's send it over to lynette charles. >> weather is not too bad. we could get hit or miss showers out there. some people will get hit and some will miss. and that's good news going through the rest of the afternoon and also evening. check out what we had yesterday, though. we were on the hot side baltimore came in right around 93 degrees. more of the same into winchester, 95 in charlotsville and 90 in york and 91 in hagerstown and i am forecasting close to the temperatures for today. right now, the temperature into baltimore coming in at around 71. 72 in easton and 71 at patuxent river. 70 in dulles and more into winchester. moisture is a big factor this time of the year. so, dew points the measure the moisture in the air and over 65, you are feeling it. feeling nasty outside. 72 degrees now for the dew point temperature into easton. satellite and radar not picking up on a lot. that's good news. the showers and thunderstorms that we got yesterday and this morning starting to fizzle out a little bit. but they will fire back up possibly as we go into the afternoon. reason why, we have a cold front back towards the west. and it's going to sag more to the south and as it does it will stall out around virginia and that's the focal point as we start to get more showers and thunderstorms going into the afternoon and future radar. picking up on that, as we go into the afternoon time frame, we will have scattered showers and thunderstorms, but most will stay off to the east or eastern shore heading to the beach today. ocean city looks like it could be a little bit more wet. tuesday, things will dry out more. that's good news. more sunshine in the forecast. but today hot and hazy and temperatures around 92. yesterday, we got up to 93 degrees. and with that heat, we had the chance for showers and thunderstorms. by tonight, more of the same. patchy clouds and temperatures coming in around 6. by tomorrow, a better day i believe e think we will be more dry -- i think we will be more dry outside. the seven-day forecast, still looks more of the same. we have the temperatures in the 90 -- 90s and it will be hot and we have the chance for showers and thunderstorms. it won't be until the weekend that we start to dry things out and temperatures willan. >> thanks so much. 18 minutes after five this morning. if you walk along main street in northeast, or see the boats zooming by, you see the boats heading for the bay. of course annapolis is all about sailing there. but from captains to third mates you have to be careful if you are on the water. eric nelson has the story that could save your life. >> it is the number one most effective thing to keep you safe on the water. >> reporter: the sun up is and the boaters are out in high force on loch raven reservoir. >> the very first thing to be aware of going out on water is to put the life jacket on. you need to wear it. >> water is unpredictable for one, and even though you can swim, you know it's a safeguard. anything can happen. >> you have to listen to the captain. >> reporter: carl and sherry sherman know how to swim. >> i am the captain. >> reporter: but even they know the importance of wearing the life jackets. >> yes, we wear our life jackets. >> mandatory. >> mandatory. even though we are swimmers, we still have to be safe. >> reporter: and those with children need to take special precautions. >> you want to make sure you're choosing a life jacket for your kid that fits them at this time. you don't want one that they are going to grow into. that's one of the worst things you can do. >> reporter: you also want to make sure it fits right. >> when you put it on the child, if you were to pull up, if it comes up around their ears, that means it's too big and you need to find a different size for your child. >> reporter: another good tip, let them pick it out. >> they are fun -- there are fun styles colorful with their favorite cartoon characters. >> cinderella. >> reporter: carrollton -- carol discuss it with her daughter. >> even if they can swim, she can keep herself above but that's about like you know, it's just for a little bit and it would be pretty hard to -- there would be a good chance she wouldn't make it very long. >> reporter: wearing the life jacket could be the difference between a good day on the water and a disasterous one. >> you know you never get another chance. >> reporter: in north baltimore, eric nealson. >> eric says that another thing to keep in mind when picking out a life jacket, make sure that it is u.s. coast guard approved. it's 5:20. this morning people are still talking about a drowning that took place outside boston. check this out. a woman's lifeless body went unnoticeed at the crowded public pool for nearly three days. we know exactly how that woman died and lindsay davis has an update. >> reporter: the autopsy report confirms what many struggled to believe. the 36-year-old marie joseph drowned sunday afternoon and went undetected by swimmers he, lifeguards and health inspect db -- swimmers, lifeguards and health inspectors for three days. children swam in the pool-aware there was a corpse in the water -- pool-aware there was a corpse in the watter. >> the only thing of note is the inspector did indicate that the pool water was cloudy. >> reporter: her neighbors's 9- year-old son said he told the lifeguard when she went down the slide she never came back up. but he says no one looked for her. conventional wisdom suggest no one would have to look that a body on the floor of a pool would stand out. but investigators say when the pool opened for the season, just one day before joseph went, the water was murky and cloudy. but even in clear water, just look at what happens when this dummy sinks to the bottom of the pool. in still water you can see it. but in age tatted water when -- agitated water, it is almost impossible to make out. and in this video produced in 2003 by a lifeguard training company to test lifeguards, when they put dumbies in crowded pools to see if lifeguards would spot them, none of the lifeguards saw the dumbies even after they had been submerged for three minutes. vj figure fisher says he is aware of similar scenarios. >> on a sunny day, you can have sunlight rays off the surface of the water creating a situation that the lifeguard can't look below the surface even with clear water. >> that was lindsay davis reporting. a boating accident leaves one person in critical condition this morning and a boat operator is facing charges. investigators say dennis allen was trying to tie up boats together when he accidently ran over deandra scott. he faces misdemeanor charges of a neglect operator and not having enough life jackets on [ female announcer ] using less never felt so good. we all go... why not enjoy the go with charmin ultra soft. now "good morning maryland." 5:26. hundreds came out to lend their support to men and women serving overseas. people in burlington, kentucky warted to be -- wand to make this 4th more meaningful than ever. the event has grown significantly since it started six years ago. more than 1,000 people came out to support the troops. thanks to the growth in the event, now more and more troops are being sent care packages full of donations they collected. and a large-scale group of anti-war demonstrators staged a dine-in at huntington beach pier in california. they did this on sunday. protesters covered themselves in fake blood and laid down on the pavement calling attention to the death of american soldiersance afghan and iraqi civilians. some held photos of american troops killed in battle. the mock coffin was set up and grade in the american flag. some of those demonstrating were veterans. organizers say every person matters. it's wonderful holiday tradition. picnics. >> i love them. they are so great. every family does it a different way. so, just ahead, from presidents to movie stars to families, how we all sit down and enjoy the sum tear digs. how about -- summer are a digs. how about history people gathering in the set every brotherly love for a huge celebration. and a little historical perspective. we will tell you about that when we return. you are watching "good morning maryland" first and only at 4:30. up to new york on this july 4th for this morning's tech bites. >> reporter: in teed tech bites, apple may-- in today's tech bites apple may be the hacker target. they posted 2 dozen user names and passwords they took from an online servers. they say there could be further attacks. it's reported that facebook and skype this week will launch a video chat service that will work with a browser. the site tech crunch says it could significantly increase skype useage and the amount of time people spend on facebook. and google is reported to be one of the companies vying to buy ha loo courting about half a dozen potential buyers. google owns youtube which could raise antitrust concerns. and go daddy is sold to a private equity consortium for 2 1/4 billion dollars. go daddy is the largest domain registration company and the new owners will seek to expand go daddy internationally. and those ruer tech bites, -- those are your tech bites, i am daniel sieberg.
