Sam we have been here for the last eight hours and this train has been stuck after an Early Morning fire in the last three minutes. It moved from the tracks above benning road behind me. It is a great site for all of those people in this area. This train has caused delays for the orange, blue, and silver lines all morning since the metro opened at 5 00 this morning. Some people telling us they got to work more than an hour late today. Metro saying it has been causing delays of to 30 to 35 minutes. It all started when a small fire happened under the train. Clearing weekend track work. They brought in a test train to go over the area and they say a small fire started. They were able to put it out with a fire extinction. Asy left that train in place they worked on it throughout the night into the Early Morning and trains sat waiting to go by. This was not the only problem. A partial power outage at Farragut North station causing signals and single tracking on the red line. We caught up with metro travelers and just like many other days in recent weeks they are frustrated. I was at landover 30 minutes. Expected to be here at a certain time and we are not. We have reached out to metro. So far they cannot tell us why this happened or whats involved to get it fixed but we can tell you you should expect residual delays. Items women need and yet they are something shelters are not able to provide. Especially with tampons and pads.
