shots. >> robert gardner's elderly mother heard the shots down the street. he like others with senior parents or young children are concerned about safety. >> this is crazy you know. folks don't have more than groceries. >> just over three weeks ago 22-year-old demetrius stumpson was fatally wounded near alabama avenue and 24th street. two suspects shown on surveil as -- surveillance video were captured in florida. police say the shooting stemmed from an argument moments before. >> stuff like this is why i'm not around here. >> metro said after the shots the driver moved the bus to east capital street blocks away. the shooting victim was able to walk off. residents suspect the gunfire is part of a gang turf dispute. >> the way the drug boys around here you owe them money they'll do what they can to get it. >> ample reason for residents to keep a low profile. >> i stay in the house unless i'm going somewhere, my friends take me somewhere. >> a lot of folks in that neighborhood concerned about safety. the victim in stable condition nonlife-threatening injuries. right now we're told metro is looking through surveillance tapes looking for additional information to what we're following a developing story from laurel where four cars collided this afternoon and it happened around 3:00 on laurel buoy road. one was killed and others injured. detours are in effect while police investigate the accident. no word on what sparked the collisions. police in buoy in the meantime are looking for a driver that killed a woman and kept going. the hit-and-run accident happened just after midnight on crane highway. the victim has not been identified but is believed to be in her 20's. witnesses told police they saw a light-colored vehicle stopped near the scene of the accident and then again in the parking lot with a damaged hood and windshield. if you have information about this police would like to hear from you. and u.s. park police now have an arrest warrant for the man they believe is connected to shots fired near the white house. new photos are being released tonight of the suspect and he's identified as 21-year-old oscar ortega. gunfire was reported friday night in the 1600 block of constitution avenue about a half mile from the white house. police later found an abandoned car with an assault rifle inside. authorities don't believe the white house was the actual target. and once again anyone with information on this one is asked to call police. it was a big day for the washington national cathedral. this morning was its first sunday service since the cathedral was damaged in the august earthquake. suzanne kennedy was there and joins us now from northwest washington. >> thousands packed the cathedral for this very important celebration and for the first time since the earthquake church bells rang out and sunday services were held. today's holy eucharist at national cathedral was the first held there in nearly 50 days. the nation's spiritual home has been closed since august 23, 5.8 magnitude earthquake. >> it was beautiful a very moving service. >> it was wonderful. >> the service was marked by the official seeding of official mary ann buddy the ninth bishop of the episcopal dice es of washington. >> the importance of what you are doing and what we are doing. on this earth. >> inside the massive gothic cathedral, the only sign of the earthquake's impact is the protective netting that's been erected under the church's ceiling. outside, two charge pinnacles that were damaged stand as a reminder of what happened late summer. the repairs will take years and cost millions of dollars. >> what we've done over the past 10 weeks is stabilize the building so we can reopen but the work of restoration hasn't begun. >> church members who attended today's service were happy to be able to worship in a familiar setting today. >> it's terrific, terrific. because it's just such a wonderful space and the music and her words too, the new bishop's words. >> it's a privilege to be here in this church, and it's wonderful experience all the way around. it's wonderful to be back in the building. >> and temperatures, the 24-hour temperature change from this time yesterday about 10 degrees warmer, a good indication of what's on the way for the day tomorrow. we have a cold front brewing to the west of us. the clouds are already beginning to impact the great lakes region. this cold front will stall for a bit for the day tomorrow into early tuesday. but by tuesday evening and early wednesday it's going to finally move through a change in wind direction may have been here, a few rumbles of thunder and could pick up an inch or two of rain especially south and east of the d.c. metro. our future cast the next 48 hours. here we are in d.c. notice the cloud cover begins to wear a bit. moving through the day tomorrow we'll keep a good deal of clouds a winds out of the south and west and temperatures may push 70 degrees in fredericksburg and mid to upper 60's for the district and heading northward to hagerstown with temperatures around 64-65. the widespread rain is expected on tuesday though we'll see quite a bit of rain. it will follow a 12-18 hour period of time so we're not looking at a flooding situation. good news there. partly to mostly cloudy for the overnight, 45-52 degrees, day time highs tomorrow will be in the mid to upper 60's to around 70. the cold front, it arrived. we'll feel the difference. look at the high on thursday, only in the upper 40's. that's the lower to middle 50's on friday and saturday. >> so despite 69 degrees it's going to be not necessarily a great day with all that rain? >> it's going to feel warm. the rain will hold off until tuesday.
