suspects. they say they do have a person of interest in custody. >> an unusual scene at a prestigious school. richard montgomery high school was on lockdown. police swarmed the campus. >> they were arriving at the same time that i got here. >> police say a fight during the off campus lunch hour prompted the code red. >> i believe it was students returning to the school or fleeing from the scene saying let's get out of here before there are shots fired. >> there were under their desks. they had heard somebody may had been with a gun in the building. >> police searched for somebody with a weapon. teachers and students sat in the classrooms. some watched as one student was taken into custody. >> they arrested the student. >> police say nobody has been charged at this point and no weapon had been done. >> it appears that the concerns about a weapon may have been rumors. the response is completely appropriate. >> police say the student who was hurt bond up in the hospital. poli say death of a tile that paramedics did not take to the hospital. the mayor and fire chief confer they will conduct a 30-day review and will release the results of their investigation publicly. the family of the two-year old called 911 last month because she was having difficulty breathing. the ambulance crew told the mother to take her into the bathroom with shower running to helper to brief but did not take her to the hospital. if the hospital -- if the investigation reveals the ambulance crew acted improperly, they could face disciplinary action. there is a massive effort to repair pulse. they're calling the effort potholepalooza. they are tripling the number of trucks on pothole duty. city streets are covered with thousands of them because of the recent snowstorms. the director of the thomas jefferson high school stole the cash to pay for gambling trips. natasha barrett is live in alexandria with that story. >> this high-school community largely depends on its fund- raising campaigns and the efforts they do every year. this is what we found out. the woman was charged with embezzling all of this money apparently told investigators that she needed the money to pay off gambling debts and loss vegas, atlantic city, credit card debt and her mortgage payment. thomas jefferson high school in alexandria is ranked no. 1 in the country for high schools for the last two years in a row. the timidity is used to good news, not to this. police say a finance technician allegedly stole hundreds of thousands of dollars from various high school bank accounts. they say the total of the stolen money was about $279,000. >> it is shocking. she is stealing from a bunch of kids. >> documents said she was responsible for receiving and deposited money from various sources. she allegedly stole, the money by writing checks to herself without authorization and by making withdrawals from bank accounts and depositing that money into her personal bank account. >> we need that mon. it is awful somebody would do that. >> and a letter to parents, the principal wrote that -- >> i am. if we lost that much money, that is a huge amount of money. >> the principal said that she has designed and no longer works for the school. she also said to investigators that the money was going to those gambling debts. the principal also said they will try to recoup the money they lost through insurance claims. from alexandria, natasha barrett, a 7 news. a woman who spent 18 years woman -- living with her kidnapper is speaking for the first time. >> she and her family say they are thriving despite all they suffered. >> a woman who had been silenced for more than 18 years finally speaks for herself. in these videos, she shows that she is a survivor. with her daughter at home, her mother makes a plea for patients and privacy as her family recovers. >> police, give us the time we need to heal. without the prying eyes of the photographers and the press. we released this video school bus collided with a pickup truck in texas. >> witnesses describe it as a olent crash but this aid the bus struck a pickup. if least half the people died at the scene. just south of phoenix, a scene of carnage but a tour bus with windows knocked out and debris everywhere. at least six people dead and 16 injured. groups a large number of victims were brought in at one time. >> the bus had been traveling from mexico to los angeles. around 5:30, the driver lost control and hit the pickup truck from behind. >> the driver reared the vehicle. the driver pulled off the road and world. the bus rolled over ejecting several occupants. and basically, nobody in the pickup truck was hurt. the road was shut down and turned into an outdoor triage center. there for other concerns. it had triggered a second accident when another pickup truck slowed in was struck by a sedan. area hospitals scramble to deal with the injuries. six of them are in critical condition. >> these are pretty severe injuries including broken spine and lung damage. >> police say there were two drivers on board. the plan was to switch drivers and the index. they are trying to find out if the operating driver information about a small plane crashed yesterday. witnesses reported seeing smoke coming from the aircraft before it crashed the pilot died when the plane crashed into a yard and ignited a private home. an investigator with the national transportation safety board says the investigation into the cause of the crash could last up to eight months. the fed wrote transit administration releases a report critical of safetyeasures -- safety measures that matter has taken. -- that metro has taken. they said they allowed unknown hazards to remain uncorrected fro years. -- for years. police are charging a woman with trying to hire people to kill her husband. investigators say she recently approached different acquaintances about killing her husband. she is being held without bond and is scheduled to appear in court on monday. an influential state senator is demanding answers about the chaos that erupted after a maryland defeated duke on wednesday night. brad bell is live with the questions that the lawmaker has for police. >> it was a wild scene out here. students did storm the road. every student we spoke to said it was the police action that turned from a celebration into something close to a riot. police have defended their actions. this senator says police have some questions to answer. the university of maryland administrators will be trying to decide which students should be punished for the disturbance on route 1. some may actually be expelled. an influential state senator says the police deserve some scrutiny, as well. >> there was a problem but i am concerned if it should been handled differently. >> he was not there after the maryland basketball team beat duke. he saw the video and have heard what students have said and how police responded to complaints. >> they were over aggressive. >> our department expanded accordingly. we attempted to restore a peaceful environment. >> he says there is no doubt that student behaved badly and laws were broken bute shares the concerns of students that aggressive police on horseback and in riot gear may have made the situation worse than it needed to be. >> was it a full-blown riot? did it require what they did? it is something that could not come down the situation. >> police arrested 23 students out here the other night. at least two of them cla they were injured during their arrests. i heard from a lawyer on the inner loop from college park all the way to 202. that is slow traffic. what is worse is what happened on 270 northbound. this is going to be extremely slow traffic because there was an earlier
