People mourning the loss of terrance lagrew who died early friday morning after his family says he was run off the b. W. Parkway. Good evening. Im kimberly suiters. The family spoke only with abc 7s rich reserve tonight. What an emotional evening. Richard yeah, kim. It sure was. You can see the friends and family of this young man have left candles here and some markings in the shape of a t. Short for terrance. This was a Basketball Court where he used to play with his friends. He was killed in a terrible car crash early friday morning. I can fly high richard it was a tearful, emotional gathering. As dozens of family members and friends came out to honor 19yearold terrance lagrew. Lagrew a buoy state student who was trained to become a social worker was killed friday morning in a horrific car crash along the b. W. Parkway in cherifly. Lagrew was out with friends when a group of armed men approached and they believed the 19yearold was escaping in car when a vehicle rearended him pushing him off the road before it burst into flames. Saturday night lagrew was remembered as a loving mentor and a good friend. He was such a loving spirit. I know from family, hes well loved. I have little cousins look up to him and hes a hero to my little cousins. And apparently, hes a hero to everybody out here, too. His passion was so that was his was passion work and that was his major and wanted to help youth in trouble. He had a great heart. Nobody didnt like him. Richard family members say they are grateful for investigators who are working the case. They believe the the family believes that two suspects have been picked up. We have not confirmed that with the authorities. If we do find out that information, we will make sure to let you know. Live in Silver Spring richard reeve, abc 7 news. Kimberly a homicide suspect is on the ploose after an elderly woman was found dead. Her neighbors there are frustrated over the lack of answers from police. Roz plater is live in chillum with the very latest on that death. Roz . Roz well, kimberly, investigators just left here a few minutes ago. And they were here for more than 10 hours. Still tonight, not a lot of information. Were told theyre still trying to develop a motive and a suspect. Late into the evening, investigators combed over the crime scene, searching for evidence that this home on knollbrook drive. Police calling this a homicide. And in this Quiet Community of older homes, neighbors just dont know what to make of it. Just shocked and very surprised. And again, he still dont know whats going on. Roz police say they were called here around 11 30 saturday morning to check on the welfare of a resident. They found a female with trauma to her body. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators have not said how she died. And have not yet identified the victim. But multiple neighbors tell us the home owner is a woman in her 90s. She lives here with her nephew. She now gets around with a walker. And is well liked. One of the original homeowners here in knollbrook heights. She was my neighbor for ive been here over 10 years. And just a wonderful person. Very nice. Very pleasant. And always cheerful. Roz police are releasing few other details except to say they do not believe this is a random crime. Well, still neighbors here tonight say until they know more about what has happened and what theyre what the motive might have been and a suspect, they will be a bit on edge. The owner of Trinity Kevin vadke says johnson did give an incorrect zip scode for his illinois i. D. But he says when johnson explained the mistake was because he recently moved, he did not seem intoxicated. Route 15 an arundel county is back open after a deadly crash the eastbound lanes near route 655 were shut down for several hours. Maryland state Police Telling abc 7 63yearold raymond batters of manchester was killed when the car he was in was rearended. Batters daughter was driving and she had stopped because of an accident just up the road. New at 11 00 new York City Fire investigators believe a hot plate started a blaze. That ended up killing seven children. The victims were all siblings. They ranged in age from 5 to 16. Their mother and teenage sister survived by jumping from the second floor of their brooklyn home. Authorities said because the fire spread so quickly, firefighters were unable to save anyone inside. A sheriffs deputy shot Richard White as he charged at people with a 14 inch machete. Investigators said white was also carrying gas filled molotov cocktails and had smoke bombs in his car. Now, some neighbors told abc 7 news they want a Greater Police presence on the streets and more officer involvement with the community. D. C. Mayor mariel bowser is saying a recent positive review for the citys street car could be just the spark the project needs to roll forward. The street car has faced numerous delays. But the American PublicTransportation Association an Industry Group says it found no fatal flaws that would prevent the system from going ahead and opening. We ordered a top to down review so that we can know everything that we need to do to have the system running safely. The winds are coming in from the northwest. So ushering in this cooler air mass and when we get the cooler air moving in the wind will be with us and feel a little bit cooler than our actual air temperature tomorrow. But at least this friday isnt going to bring us any precipitation. You can see a few clouds and even some clouds streaming in from another system off to the south. The main weather story is that we just have a cooler air mass moving in tomorrow. But it will be nice and dry for your sunday for whatever your plans are. And as i mentioned earlier, right now, in d. C. , were still in the upper 50s. So i think that through the overnight hours, well probably stay in the 40s here downtown. But in the suburbs, especially in parts of montgomery county, maybe northern sections of frederick and Washington County you will get into the 30s but the northwesterly breeze between 5 and 15.
