out this video of the storms in arlington. the activity is the latest in a hard stretch of weather. right now, we are keeping an eye on the potential for flooding. let's get right to bob ryan for his first look at the radar. >> the very heaviest rains are moving to the metropolitan area. let me show you the wider view. you can see where that line is. we are into the mid 90's today. a lot of humidity. the live doppler -- there is the lightning. parts of prince george's county all that is moving into an arundel county and to the northern tip of calvert county. another back around dale city. because of the rain, the flash flood warning earlier -- it has been a lot of lightning and with the power grid that has been so stretched because of the derecho of two weeks ago, there will be more power outages tonight as the line moves through. already over 2 inches of rain. i am afraid that tomorrow, it will happen again because of a weather front coming our way. that is the probability of some gusty winds. once again, severe thunderstorm warnings. after the rain we have had today, i think we are going to be seen in some areas with perhaps some flash flooding tomorrow. but big changes as we head into saturday and sunday. i will tell you the details in a few minutes. >> we will get back to you. crews canvass of the region as the storms moved in. we got shot of the lightning before the heavy rain hit in southwest. >> this just in from a group out in montgomery county where the rain was coming down in buckets in parts of rockville and bethesda. the entire region is getting drenched once again. >> metro just send a message out by twitter saying the power outage at the bethesda metro station docked out service to escalators and elevators but the station remains open. >> at -- pepco reports about 15,000 outages and another area hard hit. neighborhoods in rhode island ave. that is where tom rouse the is live with the breaking details. >> folks out here are getting real frustrated for the third time in nine days -- a lot of their basements are flooding. if you look at rhode island avenue now, it does not look too bad but check out this video we shot within the last half hour. it was awful out here. it flooded within about 10 or 15 minutes. after the storm came in, cars were having trouble getting by. we have to move our livestock or it was going to get flooded. -- our live truck or it was going to get flooded. third time in nine days in this one section of rhode island avenue nw it also happened last night during the storms as well. people are getting very frustrated and we went with some of them earlier today as they tried to prepare for what they knew was coming tonight. >> it is a pain in the butt. >> ryan decided it was time to sandbag the home he has owned for six years. >> i late every tile and put all that a sport in. i will not wait for someone else to take care of it for me. >> he wishes he did not have to do it. >> you have to leave work early to make your own sandbag. it is not a sustainable way to live. >> residents who live here over 50 years share these images of yesterday's flood. they say the 100 block of rhode island avenue nw has a long history of flooding but lately, it has been getting worse. >> it gets real bad down here. >> some residents are frustrated with the sea water -- with d.c. water. its long term solution is a 13 mile water sewage tunnel that is still 13 years from being finished. residents say that is too long, especially since there is flooding in sewage backing up into their homes. >> when sewage pumps up over and over again, it is a public health concern. there has to be something or some way the city can help. >> here is a live shot of one of the trains here on road island ave. it is working fine now but it got overwhelmed tonight. that is why water started coming out of the drains and into people's basements. i talked to ryan a few moments ago and he said yet again his basement flooded. theuyy stuck a wet vac in the toilet. it -- at least they succeeded in that but his basement is once again ms. they cannot wait 13 years for this kind of stuff that happened tonight to stop out here. after it sideswiped several cars. the driver fled on foot. >> police are searching for an attacker who stabbed a man to death this evening in the lot of -- in south west. a man was spotted leaving the scene. it is not clear what led to the attack. >> the fiancee of a local good samaritan is going through heartbreak again. they have arrested the killer. he was stabbed to death two months ago will try to help someone in distress. he was found blocks away near the intersection of fifth street and florida avenue nw. autria godfrey spoke with a fiancee and she is now live in the news room. >> that fiance says she is having a hard time accepting that the father of one would have put himself in harm's way like that, even with his desire to always help others. >> he never showed up. then is set in that he is never coming back. >> she has felt an eeriness inside her home since the death of her fiancee nearly three months ago. and hearing that johnathan frederick dawkins was arrested for the brisbon appear to be a good samaritan who came up on an argument between two people and stopped. >> he asked if the person was ok. there were words exchanged and he got out of his car and more words were exchanged. then he was stabbed. >> he jumped back in his car and took off within minutes he was found unconscious inside his craft vehicle at the intersection of fifth street and florida avenue. police say this surveillance video helped lead to the arrest of dawkins. neighbors say that sounds like the big hearted brisbon they knew. >> with a warrant for his arrest he turn himself in this horrifying story in prince william county. and 8-year-old pleads for help after he says his adoptive parents physically abused him. the man who entered the knock on the door from the boy talks about what he saw. >> both parents face serious charges and we have uncovered the boy's adoptive father. jay korff is live with the latest on this case. >> authorities believe this little 8-year-old boy had enough inside his own home so he fled to another. just before 1:00 a.m. tuesday in this virginia neighborhood, this man heard the doorbell. >> i look outside the window then open the door. it was a little boy. >> he said he welcomed in a charming but all -- but confuse a-year old boy. >> he was open about pulling his shirt up to show he had these bruises on his body. >> police suspected child fled his home after being abused earlier in the day by his adoptive parents, matthew and amy sweeney. both have been charged with felony child abuse. authorities believe the eight- year old had been abused for an extended amount of time. >> that is so heartbreaking. >> how i felt about the whole experience -- very disappointed in human beings. that a human being could do that to a child. >> three people entering the home denied comments tonight. the alleged victim had a number of siblings and was home schooled. >> the kids were out very seldom lead. and not all of them. i never saw an eight-year old boy. >> the parents in this case are free on bond. the eight-year old boy has been removed from a home. >> thank you. >> the latest on the power outages. pepco is up to about 17,000 adages right now. that is pretty serious. >> every time we get the storm coming out -- we have the heat and humidity, the result has been more of the same. thunderstorms with locally heavy rain. the atmosphere is very saturated. by the time we get into the weekend, there will be dramatic changes. the temperature outside with that rain down at washington -- at national airport, a quarter of an inch of rain. another 95 degree day. we are now down to 76. here is the most rain i could find in washington. a bit over an inch of rain. there is still a flash flood warning out because of the rain that has come by and up around howard county. we tap into a lot of spots. all of this, it would be wonderful to have this, that the 24 hours for the gardens and everything but as you can see it is coming in 20, 30 minutes. look at that line moving out to folks around and arundel county. there is the lightning heading in towards northern parts of calvert county. there could be some power outages there. we are leftover with light rain right now in washington. a little area of moderate rain for folks around dale city and into quantico. all this is moving off towards the east give it another hour and it will pretty much all be all gone. tomorrow as we go through the day, watch -- tomorrow morning, early, another warm, humid morning with pop up variety showers and thundershowers. during the afternoon and especially later on tomorrow night, i am afraid we will be looking at a similar pattern. some cooler air and finally less humid air pushes our way. as long as the atmosphere is saturated, there is always that risk of the slow-moving thunderstorms that come through and of one or 2 inches of rain in a short time. so the risks again of seeing in some afternoon thunderstorms, i think temperatures tomorrow will be into the low 80's. and as the weather front comes through, i think our temperatures on saturday will only be into the 70's and probably sunday as well. heading out to the beaches, i will tell you more about that later. but a northeasterly wind. a cloudy and what we get at the beaches with temperatures only in the 70's. one more day tomorrow with some possibly flooding rains and violent weather. after that, we finally get a break. what a summer. what a delight. >> a break just in time for the weekend. >> it would be nice to have this rain over a month and
