A fugitive murderer or murder suspect, that is, has been killed in a battle with police. Were talking about michael vance, who had been on the run for just over a week. Vance was wanted for the murder of his aunt and his uncle for a shooting at four people including two Police Officers. After not being heard or seen in days vance was spotted by a western part of the state. The Highway Patrol spoke shortly after that. About 3 00 this afternoon a farmer discovered a vehicle in his field, a vehicle that came very close to matching the description of the vehicle wed been looking for, the suspect vehicle. Before that final shootout last night vance shot and wounded a sheriffs deputy, but he is expected to be okay. Of course were going to continue to follow the developments with that. We want to turn now to politics and the email controversy that is now plaguing Hillary Clintons campai through thousands of emails found on a laptop used by clinton aide huma abedin and her husband Anthony Weiner. Our latest abc News Washington post National Tracking poll shows clintons 12point lead from last week has virtually evaporated. Shes now just one point ahead of donald trump, which is a statistical dead heat. And trump is using the email review to rev up his supporters saying we never thought we were going to say thank you to Anthony Weiner. Heres abcs mary bruce. Weiner now under investigation for allegedly sexting a teen. Comey making the new review public on friday. Even though there is no evidence of wrongdoing by clinton. Something like that out with such Little Information right before an election. In fact, in fact its not just strange, its unprecedented and it is deeply troubling. Reporter her campaign launching a coordinated strike. Its just extremely puzzling. Why would you release information that is so incomplete when you havent even seen the material yourself . Holder said comey violated Longstanding Justice Department policies and tradition on the proper way to conduct investigations during an election cycle. And experts are warning that central italy could be hit by more powerful earthquakes after a 6. 6 quake struck over the weekend. It was the third major one to hit in just the past two months. It just started calling 911 like crazy and i couldnt stop. I kept clicking the end button and nothing was happening. It just kept recalling, recalling, recalling. In Washington State an 18yearold man has been arrested for investigation of data service interference. Police say he claims he spread the link after getting it elsewhere. The next day in a letter to lawmakers he revealed the renewed inquiry that has thrown the campaign for a loop. Hillary clinton, now fighting donald trump. I mean, hes such a downer, right . And by the way, were leading in florida. Well, trump is campaigning in michigan today while mike pence heads to florida, insisting he wont be knocked off course. Clinton is attending to early voting events in ohio. And tim kaine will be in north carolina. Isis is calling a wave of new violence in iraq retaliation. A series of explosions yesterday rocked shiite neighborhoods in baghdad. At least 17 people were killed. Dozens more were injured. The terror groups response to thousands of shiite fighters joining the battle near the city of mosul. And those shiite fighters are now participating in the fight against isis and receiving help from Iranian Military advisers. Iraqi forces advancing toward mosul from the east have closed to within four miles of the edge of the city. Advances continue to be slower from the south, where Government Forces are still 20 miles from mosul. The fight is expected to continue for weeks at least. Thousands of people are spending the overnight hours in shelters or hotels following another powerful earthquake in central italy. It was a third strong quake in just the past two months. The view from above showing a town already utterly devastated reduced to ruins. The faces ripped off home after home. Theres no reason to think its now suddenly magically going to stop. Theye some of them are going to be bigger. Reporter miraculously, no one was killed in this latest quake but aftershocks roll through the area. A population on edge and on the move. Were injured after yesterdays nascar race at the martinsville speedway. A chevy convertible reportedly tried to cut into the line leaving the Handicapped Parking lot. And investigators now know what happened to cause this American Airlines jet to catch fire, but not why. The american Airlines Flight was about to leave chicago for miami when an engine failed, spewing pieces for thousands of feet and setting fuel on fire. Surveillance video from outside a walmart about 20 miles outside of washington is puzzling police there. It appears to show an abduction outside the store. Abcs Marci Gonzalez has more. Reporter Online Retail giant amazon is facing a massive lawsuit just as millions of their customers start working on their Holiday Shopping lists. A tennessee couple claims the company was negligent for selling them this hoverboard that eventually caught fire, torching their milliondollar home. The fact that a toy caused this kind of destruction to our reporter brian and megan fox bought their kids the hoverboard for christmas last year and say a few weeks later it burst into flames, destroying their home. When i got there, i was kicking the doors and i thought im going to lose two of my four children today. Reporter the fox family is seeking 30 million in damages, claiming amazon knew the dangers of the product. The suit alleges the family thought they were purchasing a hoverboard with a samsung lithium ion battery but instead were sold a counterfeit product. Product liability laws holds both manufacturers, distributors, and sellers responsible for defective products. Reporter these balance boards have long been under fire. To date the Consumer Products Safety Commission has investigated more than 60 hoverboard fires and has recalled more than half a million of the popular products from ten different companies. Reporter museum cofounder Joanna Ebenstein has done more than her fair share of digging when it comes to studying what happens after we go six feet under. Her fascination with death began a long time ago. I was very lucky that my dad kind of wanted me to be a science geek. So he really encouraged this love for me. Bought me my first taxidermy kid when i was like 14 or 15. [ scream ] reporter fast forward a few years, and the museum was born. Shining a new light on some dark subject matter. What i hope people take away from visiting is to question our own attitudes about death. Not to say its good or bad but just through showing all of these objects and books that have all this information about the ways in which different people in different times and es attitudes. Reporter i certainly began questioning my own attitudes anna put a real human skull into my hands. I am really freaking out that i am holding this in my hands right now. Do you want me to make it . Not that im scared of it. I just cant believe that thats what just happened. Reporter but that skull, which by the way belonged to an indian man who died in the 30s, wasnt the only character i met at the museum. I dont know if you guys have heard of something called santa muerta. Does it main saint death . Or holy death. This is a folk tradition that emerged in mexico. A female figure of death kind of like the grim reaper is worshiped as a saint so she can be on an altar next to the virgin of guadalupe and other sorts of figures. Its seen by some people as satanic but by practitioners its just seen as one of many saints or holy figures that can intercede on your behalf. This is a lot of peoples favorite object in the entire museum. It is two ducklings. So together itno twoheaded duckling. They were not born like that . They were not born like that. Reporter in fact, blame tonight full moon or some kind of enchantment but after a while i started acting like some of the museums inhabitants. Safe to say theres something for every maturity level at the museum of morbid anatomy including those with an affinity for intellectual history and of the dead animal variety. One piece in particular stood out. . So this is the centerpiece of the exhibit. This is a piece called the kittens wedding by a 19th century taxidermist, selftaught taxidermist named walter potter. Its 20 kittens engaged in a wedding ceremony. This guys pissed off because he thinks the bride is marrying the wrong kitten. Reporter despite being surrounded by dead kittens, by artwork made of human hair and human teeth for sale, like our favorite horror movies i couldnt look away. But why, why especially this time of year do we dare examine things we usually find so spooky . I think theres a sense of mystery, a sense of pleasure in the dark side, a sense of laughing at death. Reporter fbi director james comey this weekend began briefing lawmakers, who were demanding more details about a new batch of recently disclosed emails potentially connected to secretary clintons private server. We both encouraged him to make sure that the American People have as much information as possible before they have to make a decision on november 8th. Reporter the case was reignited by an investigation of an alleged sexting scandal the fbi confiscated weiners devices, including a laptop where sources say they discovered emails from abedin. Those sources acknowledge the fbi doesnt know whats on those emails or whether they will turn out to be important. The focus, whether those emails contain classified information and are tied to clintons private server. The fbis obtained a court order allowing them to study abedins emails. Justice Department Officials had advised against alerting congress, citing department doing anything that would be seen as influencing an election in its final days. Comey has operated with extraordinary independence, and matters were complicated after the attorney generals illfated meeting this summer with bill clinton on that tarmac in arizona. It apparently took weeks for the revelation to be brought to the fbi director. There are questions about why it took so long. We have breaking news now from oklahoma. A murder suspect on the run for more than a week has been shot dead. Michael vance was wanted in the murders of his aunt and uncle and for shooting two Police Officers with an ak47. He was killed in a shootout with police in western oklahoma. Vance was spotted earlier in the day by a farmer who reported it to police when Law Enforcement responded vance shot a sheriffs deputy, but that sheriffs deputy is expected to be okay. Where thousands of people have lost their homes after a third and powerful earthquake struck the central part of that country. The sunday morning quake was a 6. 6. It destroyed centuriesold buildings and in one area in particular sent monks and nuns running for safety. No one was killed in sundays earthquake. They gave the elephants all these giant pumpkins to stomp on, squash, in some cases even snack on, and they say that this is a good way to just keep the animals sort of entertained and mentally active when theyre in some of the other zoo animals have some fun like this earlier on in the week as well. Its one way for them to just kind of like go to town and eat if they get hungry. Some of them were snacking on them as well. There you go. Keeping with the halloween theme, this one has nothing to do with it. Theres a kid in alabama who has created his own food pantry inside of a mail room there in his dorm. This is really cool. His name is justin franks. Hes only 20 years old. And the whole purpose of it is to feed hungry students. He started out by buying 40 worth of food and then the operation grew, and now the cafeteria on campus closes relatively early so that he can set up the pantry to be open between 6 00 p. M.
