Are yeah, they they are gathering evidence and speaking with witnesses because again this happened just as people and taking a look behind me, you can still see some flashing lights. Police officers have still blocked off this section of tremendous month, this happened just outside the courtyard marriott there and there is still evidence there on the ground. I want to show you some video of what this area looked like at around 3 00 this morning. You can see better those piles of clothing on the ground, also a number of police cars surrounding this area. Again, the stabbings around 2 15, bars and clubs here closed at around 2 00. I did ask police here at the scene whether these were random shootings, and they say stabbings i should say, but what they told me is this very likely is connected to the night life scene here. They wouldnt say anything beyond that. They say that they were responding to a call about a fight and when they arrived they found 7 people stabbed. Now, according to the boston globe , some had knife wounds ad one person is in Critical Condition. We are a 5 minute walk from Emerson College, after this happened the college sent out an alert to its students stating that police were searching for two suspects. Police wouldnt confirm that, but they did tell me they will likely be able to identify a suspect in the coming days. The college is also asking students to report any suspicious activity if they happen to see or hear anything. And again we are continuing to reach out to police h updates as soon as we get them. For now, in the theater district, im Stephanie Coueignoux, fox 25 news. And new this morning, boston firefighters are still chasing hot spots at this home on Elm Hill Park in roxbury. They say heavy fire started in the basement just before 4 00 and then quickly spread throughout the house. We are told everyone made it out safely but one firefighter did suffer minor injuries. We are also breaking news out of baltimore this morning, where police are searching for three suspects who they say shot 8 police say the gunman converged on the victims standing outside a relatives house just before 9 00 and opened fire with two handguns and a shot gun. Police are calling the shooting a pred tated act of retaliation. None of the victims had life threatening injuries. We are learning more about the the man accused of carrying out the deadly shooting rampage in Washington State. 20 yearold ar kahn fa teen was walking on a sidewalk 30 miles away from where from the mall, where the shooting happened shy of 24 hours earlier. The sheriff and his deputies pulled their guns and took fatine into custody. He said nothing. He was just kind of zombie like, thats the best i can describe for him. Fatine did not have a weapon on him at the time, just a bag with a computer in it. This morning, we have learned he does have a criminal record. Arrested for assault last year. The Seattle Times reporting he is also faced Domestic Violence charges. Investigators say fa teen had immigrated legally from turkey and is expected in court tomorrow. Right now police have not released a motive for the shooting. And news of the Washington State shooting brought back many here to a day in may when a man went on a stabbing rampage at a mall in taunton. Rosemary heath lost her husband, george, that night. The couple was eating at bertuccis when the george rushed in to help and never made it out. Norwood has more than 14,000 in unpaid citations, since 2011. Canton, more than 10,000 since 2009. Walpole, 4,000 in the past year and a half. And weymouth we pulled both numbers, going back 3,000 in fines were paid, nearly 10,000 are unpaid. The way the Ballot Initiative was written the fine penalty can go up to 100, no late fees so the only way a town or city can get that money back is by going to court. Some agencies have decided to go forward with filing like a small claims case where they can try and go and recoup the money. People we talked to are on both sides of the fence as far as what to do. If you legalize it and put a tax on it, its bet for definitely need to find a system in place to better monitor this. Those janitors who maintain nearly 2,000 Office Buildings in boston are currently negotiating a contract asking for Better Benefits and opportunities to expand to fulltime employment. Around 2 00 in morning month citys theater district. Fox 25s Stephanie Coueignoux is live on the scene in treemont street where police are gathering evidence. Stephanie . Yeah, they have been here for about 4 hours, they have been gathering evidence. They have been interviewing witnesses and right here behind me you can see a couple of the detectives standing just outside the courtyard marriott where the stabbings happened, both on the sidewalk and just off the sidewalk, right behind that crime scene tape right there. Some video. This is what the scene looked like about 45 minutes after all of this happened. Police say the stabbings likely were connected with people leaving bars and clubs in the area, again, the bars and clubs in boston close at 2 00 and the stabbings happened at 2 15, again, 7 people in all were stabbed. I did ask about suspects if there might have been one suspect perhaps more than one, police here would only say this is still a very active investigation and they likely would be of the suspect in the next few days, but again this happened in the theater district here on tremendous month street, next to the wang theater and shoe bert theater and this is a fiveminute walk from Emerson College. Again we are talking a very busy weekend night when a lot of people are going out. Emerson college actually alerted their students just after this happened, saying that there were two suspects involved in the stabbing, asking everyone to call police with any suspicious the identity of one suspect in the next few days. We continue to follow breaking news out of baltimore where police are searching for three armed suspects who shot 8 people include ag 3 yearold girl. The violence erupted just before 9 00 last night outside of row houses on the citys east side. All 8 victims were rushed to the hospital and are expected to planned pred tated act in retaliation to a labor day shooting in which one person was killed. They are also staying on top of developing news out of Washington State where this 20 yearold suspect is now in custody accused of the shooting at that mall that killed five people. Police say ar kahn fa teen was arrested in oak harbor, 0 miles away from burlington, where that shooting happened. Investigators say fatine was unarmed when he was arrested. Fa teen is a legal immigrant from turkey. Police say they are now in contact with his family who are cooperating. The gun used in the shooting was recovered at the scene. Fa teen is expected to make a Court Appearance tomorrow. Tonight Emergency Responders will take over the auburn mall for an active shooter drill. This event was planned before the tragedy in washington. Fox 25 security expert said its imperative that people know what to do in that situation. When you are going into mall, you have to look for exits and places and think about a plan, where you would go if there is an emergency. Its not just customers who need a plan, experts say mall management needs to better security guards and increase cameras to try to keep people safe. Norwood police are searching for the thieves who stole from a local charity that supports veterans. Take a look at this Surveillance Video right here from saturday morning. In it, you can just make out two people letting themselves into an unlocked storage shed and speakers and amplifiers and two stands for the speakers. The equipment belongs to the run for a veterans fund, which holds an annual 5mile road race to honor a Fallen Service member. They also help local veterans and their families with finances. The stolen property was supposed to be used to emcee future races. Total, 1,800, thats 1,800 less we will be able togy out the veterans in need. Norwood police are asking local pawnsh property. Police in andover say they have recovered more than 15,000 worth of heroin. They say their detectives were conducted surveillance on a suspected drug dealer when they witnessed the transaction go down. 27 yearold jos . Firefighters in several towns were called in to help rescue a man following a construction accident in graphton. Telling us the man was driving a payloader on carol road when it overturned and got suck in this trench right here. Rescue crews arrived quickly but took about an hour to get a Technical Team out there. That Technical Team was compromised of First Responders from 25 different communities. They say the man who was operating that payloader was conscious and talking to First Responders the entire time, and the good news is he is now expected to be okay. Meantime, firefighters had to rescue a dog fr nashua. It was an abandoned dry well on old street. Crews were able to fine the dog 10 feet down there. Thankfully, the firefighters tell us the dog wasnt hurt and was returned to his owner. The preferential treatment cost the state money. Investigator Kerry Cavanaugh tracked down what changes are being made as a result now. State police temporarily suspended their contract but it has since been reinstated. The report said perfection towing bid so low at one dollar a tow, mass dot thought it was a typo. We also reached out to both perfection towing and state police, but the tow company told us no comment. State police told us they will defer to the motorist if their vehicle is in an immediate danger and many motorists use aaa. State police also added the affiliated company that is closest to the sector discussed in the Inspector Generals report and the tows diverted to perfection towing were as a result of consumer request to reap the benefit of the the aaa benefit. We have 44 plymouth, 55 brewster and nantucket. Then we get back to the west here, middle 0s, temple and fitchburg from our weather sensors there. And thats where we can see a little patchy frost in those typically colder lowlying spots and you get surfaces that can support from moisture on them. The tender plants you want to be careful with those. Certainly not too late to bring them in. But tonight, a better chance that we will see frost across the area. Right now, we are following breaking news this morning, 7 people stabbed outside of a boston hotel. This morning, fox 25s Stephanie Coueignoux is live on tremont street and we understand the scene is beginning to clear and the street was reopened to traffic, stephanie . Yeah, heather in just the the road and actually they have recently left, but you can see just outside courtyard marriott, that is where those stabbings happened both on the sidewalk as well as on the road. Thats where all of the evidence markers were. But, again, in just the last 30 minutes played favorites his have since cleared this scene right here. I do want to show you some video though of what the area looked like at around 3 00 this morning. You can see some piles of clothes on the ground, the number of police cars the stabbings happened at 2 15 in the bars and clubs and restaurant, a lot of them closed at 2 00. So this happened just after all of them closed here on tremendous month street. I did ask whether these were random stabbings and police hearsay that they are likely very connected to the night life scene here. They wouldnt say anything beyond that. But, we do know that they responded to a fight here and when they arrived they found 7 people stabbed. According to the boston globe , some had knife wounds, others had been stabbed with person is in Critical Condition, and this is just about a 5 minute walk from Emerson College. Right after this happened the college sent out an alert to students stating what happened and that police were searching for two suspects. Now, police here on the scene, they wouldnt confirm they are searching for two suspects but they did tell me they will likely be releasing the name, the identity of one suspect in the coming days. The college also asking students to report any suspicious again, police were here for just over 4 hours gathering evidence, speaking with witnesses. New this morning, boston firefighters are still chasing hot spots at this home on Elm Hill Park in roxbury. They say heavy fire started in the basement, just before 4 00 this morning and then quickly spread to the rest of the house. We are told everyone made it out safely but one firefighter did suffer minor i are learning more about the man accused of carrying out those deadly shooting that left five people dead at a Shopping Mall in Washington State. A 20 yearold ar kahn fa teen was arrested last night after a sheriff happened to see him walking on a sidewalk about 30 miles from where the mall from the mall where the shooting happened just shy of 24 hours prior to that. The sheriff and his deputy pulled their guns and took fa teen into custody. Kind of zombie like, thats the best i can describe for him. Fa teen didnt have a weapon to on him at the time, we are hold, only a bag with a computer. This morning, we have learned he does have a criminal record. Police confirming he had been arrested for assault last year. And the Seattle Times is reporting he also faced Domestic Violence charges. Investigators say fa teen had immigrated legally from turkey and is exexpected in court tomorrow, right now police have not released a motive for the shooting. Two new pe the debate surrounding police use of force. And caused five Straight Days of protests and riots. Yesterday the Charlotte Police department reversed its position and released dashcam and body camera video of last weeks Deadly Police shooting. What we are releasing are the objective facts. Police in charlotte, north carolina, releasing dashcam and body cam footage of tuesdays fatal Police Shooting. After days of public outrage and most complete puzzle that we can without trying the case out in public. The video only shows a partial view of the incident that led to the death of 43 yearold keith scott. [gunshots] the footage itself will not create in anyones mind absolute certainty as to what this case represents and what the outcome should be. Police also releasing photos of the gun they say was recovered at the scene, as well as the ankle holster they say scott was wearing and the drugs he had on hi evidence that proves all the complexities involved in this investigative process relative to this case. Shortly after the footage was released, scotts family held a press conference reacting to the news. We shouldnt have to humanize him in order for him to be treated fairly. What we know and what you should know about him is that he was an that is our position, and it should be yours. That video released did not come from the officer who fired the shots because that officer was not wearing a body camera. Now, the dashboard camera showing the showing it showed the shooting but its not clear from the video whether in fact scott was holding a gun. Turning our our attention to local new, its been 7 weeks since Vanessa Marcott was killed while jogging near her familys home in prescriptionton and residents are placing signs throughout the community hoping that might while out for a run on brook station road. That sign read justice for vanessa and the signs read that, and they have been spotted around the town common. More than 1,000 hits have already come through the state tip line for her case. The Massachusetts State Police and Worcester District Attorneys Office say they are not responsible for those new signs. Pretty much the air mass weather as we like to ul ka it today, mid 60s, cape cod and looks like plenty of sun. The clouds stay off shore today. Check out the lows tonight. I think middle 40s in the city, and then upper 30s over toward framingham, middle 30s in norwood. So, some of those normally colder, suburban locations could see some patchy frost by tomorrow morning. So, if you have sensitive plants outside, bring them in or cover them up. We want to begin this morning with breaking news out of boston where 7 people were stabbed outside a brawl in a city hotel overnight. Police tell it happened around 2 00 in the theater district and Stephanie Coueignoux is live on tremont street where Police Spent Hours gathering evidence, some left in the middle of the street, stephanie . Yeah, they this area and within just the last 10 minutes i actually spoke with a couple guests who were staying at the courtyard marriott, when all of this happened. They told me they didnt hear anything, but police werent allowing them to go out the front door and taking a look behind me, i want to show you where all this happened. You can seee the courtyard marriott sign right there, there were evidence markers both on the sidewalk as well as in the road, so it appears as though this happened both on the sidewalk and in the road right minutes after all of this happened. Police told us that the stabbings likely were connected with people leaving bars and clubs here in the area, again, all of this happened around 2 15 this morning. Bars and clubs closed at around 2 00 and again 7 people in all were stabbed, aaccording to the boston globe , one in Critical Condition but so far no fatalities involved in this. I did ask them about suspects whether there was one suspect, maybe more than one this currently is an active investigation and they will likely be releasing information about one suspect in the next few days. But, again, this is an an area very popular with people, next to the wang theater, right next to the shoe bert theater and also just a five minute walk from Emerson College. And again we are talking about a very busy weekend tonight. A lot of people out and about enjoying their saturday night going into early sunday morning. That there were two suspects involved in these stabbings and they are asking everyone if they saw anything suspicious to immediately give them a call, but again at this point, police were only saying they would likely be releasing information about one suspect in the coming days and to give them a call once again because you can see they are not here on scene anymore and i will have another live update for you in 30 minutes. Accused of shooting and killing five people inside that Shopping Mall earlier this weekend. We told you about it yesterday morning on the morning news. Police say arcan cetin was arrested around 6 30 last night in his hometown of oak arbor, about 30 miles away from burlington, where the shooting took place. Yeah, and you know a lot of the guests who are staying at where that happened, they have been waking up and i have been speaking with them a lot of people telling me they heard a lot of sirens early this morning put they were not exactly sure what was going on. Taking a look behind me, police have since left this scene and they actually have roped off part of tremont street earlier this morning. The stabbings happened outside the courtyard marriott here in this theater district, and i want to show you some video, just after 3 a. M. This is just after all of those stabbings happened and in the video you can see some piles of thats some of the evidence that police took away and you can also see a number of police cars surrounding this area. And again the stabbings happened at around 2 15 this morning. Bars, clubs, they all closed at around 2 00. And police were telling me they are pretty sure that the stabbings happened connected to this night life scene, but they are not seeing anything beyond that. They were actually responding to a call about a fight here and those 7 people stabbed. According to the boston globe , some had knife wounds, others had been stabbed with bottles and one person, the globe is reporting, is in Critical Condition. Again i have been speaking with guests all morning long, one man told me this is his first time to boston and he really doesnt know what to think. Sure its concerning. Unfortunately, its happening every where now. Its just an unfortunate sign of the times, i and again this is just about a five minute walk from Emerson College. After this happened the college sent out an alert to students stating that police were searching for two suspects. Now, police here on the scene, they are not confirming the information, they did tell me that they are likely going to be releasing information about one suspect in the next few day, but the college was asking students to call police if they saw or heard anything suspicious. Police, havent heard back again its still a relatively early on this sunday morning. But, as soon as i get an update, of course i will let you know. They say heavy fire started in the basement, just before 4 00 this morning and quickly spread to the rest of the house. We are told everyone made it out okay, but one firefighter did suffer minor injuries. Twopaging this morning we are learning more accused of carrying out the deadly shooting that left 5 people deed inside a Shopping Mall in Washington State, this man, 20 yearold arcan cetin was arrested last night after a sheriff saw him walking on a sidewalk 30 miles from the mall where the shooting happened. Not even 24 hours before. The sheriff and his deputies pulled their guns and took cetin into custody. He said nothing. He was just kind of zombie like, cetin didnt have a weapon on him at the time, but he did have a bag with a computer on him. This morning, we have learned he does have a criminal record, Police Confirmed he has been arrested for assault last year and the Seattle Times also reporting that cetin faced Domestic Violence charges. Investigators say cetin immigrated here legally from turkey and is expected in court tomorrow. Right now the police have not reeslood a motive for the shooing. The news of the Washington State shooting brought ma went on a stabbing rampage at that mall in taunton. Rosemary heath lost her husband, george, that night. They had been eating at ber truechis when the stabbing began at the silver city mall. George rushed in to help but never made it out. Rosemary survived. We want to get you to breaking news out of the boston we have been following this morning for you. 7 people were stabbed during a brawl outside of a city hotel. Thats right. Police tell us it all started around 2 00 this morning, just a few hours ago, in the citys theater district. This morning, fox 25 Stephanie Coueignoux is live on the scene attempt street where police stephanie . Yeah, they have actually just left a short time ago, again, they were here for just over 4 hours, at this point in time, no arrests have been made. But take ag look behind me, i want to show you the exterior of the outside of the courtyard marriott, it was right outside of this hotel where the stabbings apparently happened. The street was actually blocked off for quite a few hours as police were gathering evidence and speaking with witnesses. This is what the scene looked minutes after all of this happened. And police were telling me here on the scene that the stabbings likely were connected to people leaving the bars in the clubs in the area, stabbings themselves happened at around 2 15 this evening mo. Bars and clubs closed at around 2 00. And again, 7 people were stabbed at this point its not clear if possibly one suspect more than one suspect involved were also injured in this. Police telling me aga an active investigation. They would only say they are likely going to be releasing information about the suspect in the next few days. But, just to give you a better idea as to where exactly this happened again this is in the theater district. This happened right next to the wang theater and happened right across from the shoe bert theater. This is also just a fief minute walk from Emerson College. Again we are you can tag a very busy and popular weekend night when a lot of people are out and alert to students letting them know what happened. And, also, telling them that police were looking for two suspects asking them to call police if they saw any suspicious activity. Again, at this point in time, police only telling me they are likely releasing information about one suspect. They wouldnt say if there was more than one suspect, if they are looking for. I just called police and am still waiting to hear back from them, but as soon as i have an update, of course, i will let you know. In the theater district, im Stephanie Coueignoux, news. We are also following developing news this morning out of Washington State, where this 20 yearold man who you are looking at right here is in custody. Accused of shooting and killing those five people inside a Shopping Mall early yesterday. Or friday night, rather. Police say arcan cetin was arrested around 6 30 last night in his hometown of oak arbor, 30 miles from the mall where the shooting took place. Investigators say cetin was walking down the street unarmed his family came here from turkey. Police say they are in contact with that family and they are cooperating. You can also tell you the gun used in the shooting was recovered at the scene. Fa teach is expected to make a Court Appearance tomorrow. Tonight Emergency Responders will take over the auburn mall for an active shooter drill. This event was planned before the tragedy in Washington State. Fox 25 Security Experts said its imperative that people know what do in that situation. When you into into the mall, look for exit and places and a plan where would you go if there is an emergency. Its not just customers who need a plan. Experts say the mall management needs to better security guards and increase Surveillance Video to keep everyone safe. Speak of Surveillance Video, Norwood Police are searching for the thief who stole from a local charity that supports veterans and it was call on surveillance, take a look at the video from saturday morning showing two people letting themselves into an unlocked storage shed and and amplifiers and two stands for the speakers. The problem is that equipment belonged to the run for a vet fund. They hold an annual 5mile road race to honor a Fallen Service member and also to help local veterans and their families with finances. That stolen property was supposed to be used to emcee future races. In total about 1,800, and thats 1,800 less than we will be able to give out the is the veterans. Yeah, large number of people, fox 25s Stephanie Coueignoux is were watching earlier, stephanie, as police were gathering evidence . Yeah, and we actually just got an update from boston Police Telling us that four people were transported to the hospital, three others actually went to the hospital on their own, luckily, they said, nobody has lifethreatening injuries, but taking a look behind me just outside the courtyard marriott, that is where all of those stabbings happened. And actually, in just the last half hour we saw firefighters with the Boston Fire Department come in away some of the blood stains on the sidewalk after those stabbings occurred. Meantime, i do want to show you some video of what this area looked like at around 3 00 this morning and you can see some piles of clothes there on the ground, police bagged those into evidence and took them away and you can also see the Police Patrol jar cars in the area, they blocked off the street for 2 15 this morning, the bars an clubs closed at around 2 00 and police on scene were telling me that they do believe it was very likely that these stabbings were connected with the night life scene here. They wouldnt go beyond anything else except to say they think that it was connected to those bars and clubs closing. Now, Police Responded to a call of a fight here, when they arrived thats when they found those 7 people stabbed. According to the boston globe , some had knife wounds had been stabbed with bottles. And i have also been speaking with guests here at the courtyard marriott. They often told me they heard a siren outside their windows this morning. One guest told me this is his first fizz it to, that he doesnt know what to think. Sure its concerning. Unfortunately, its happening every where now it seems. Its just an unfortunate sign of the times i guess. Emerson college, just about a five minute walk now. As soon as it happened the college sent out an alert to students letting them know what happened and also saying the police were searching for two suspects. Police here at the scene wouldnt confirm that information, only to say that they will likely be releasing information about one suspect in the next few days but again, the college is asking students to alert them to any suspicious activity, we are reaching out to police, they are still working on their report an so until ty they are not going to issue information. That this morning, boston firefighters chasing hot spots and putting out hot spots on the home on Elm Hill Park in roxbury, they say a fire started and quickly spread to the rest of the house, we are told everyone made it out okay but one firefighter suffered injuries. Accused to carrying out friday nights deadly shooting that left five people dead in a Shopping Mall in Washington State. This is the suspect, 20 yearold arcan cetin, he was arrested last night. Sheriff saw him walking on a sidewalk about 30 miles from the mall where it happened. They saw him there just shy of 24 hours after the incident. Investigators tell us this all started around 2 00 this morning in the citys theater coueignoux is live on the scene on tremont street where Police Spent Hours investigating. Stephanie . They were putting up evidence into bags, at this point in time, no arrests have been made, they are not releasing any information about a suspect or suspects. But, taking a look behind me, you can see that the courtyard marriott there, they gathered most of their evident just outside of the hotel here. And again they did block off a section of this street as they witnesses, but this is what the scene looked like, just about 45 minutes after the stabbings happened. And police here on the scene were telling me that the stabbings likely are connected to people leaving bars and clubs here in the area. Again, the stabbings happened at around 2 15, the bars and clubs closed at around 2 00 and again 7 people standed, im being told by police, that everyone has nonlifethreatening injuries. At this point in time, i did ask them about suspect, they would only say they to be releasing information about one suspect in a few days but they wouldnt say if there might be more than one suspect that they are looking at right now. But, just to give you a better idea again this did happen in the theater disability, right next to the wang theater, and the shoe bert theater.
