Well talk about that in a second. I want you to see the position. Its moved further west, nothing has changed as far as our forecast. Potential even for isolated tornadoes for tomorrow. But the biggest threat, again, will be the flooding as this continues to be more of a Tropical Storm situation than a hurricane situation. As we check on citrus, hernando and pasco, the entire counties, if youre watching from there, under a Tropical Storm warning. Ok with that, right . 40, perhaps 50 mileperhour winds. Now there is the outside chance this right along the coast hard to see this line along the immediate coast there is a chance that you could experience hurricaneforce gusts. This is why we have a hurricane watch in effect. I dont think that will happen but better safe than sorry what the National Hurricane center is thinking. Thats the update with the warnings. This is all mainly for tomorrow but we will have to get through a lot of rain today. This is why the flooding will be an issue. Look at these rainfall this is something else. 2 to 3 inches just in the last three hours. Clearwater, st. Pete, lets go in tighter here, are you morning, you are probably up now with all the lightning, a lot of thunder across downtown and this continues to head to the north. Frequent lightning with heavy rainfall and this will be the case throughout the day today. Not going to rain every minute but well have bands of heavy rain that will move through. Case in point, what im talking about, pinellas getting the bullseye of the rainfall this morning. But its not just you, all of us will begin to fill in. Especially along the coast. I think that is where were going have issues as far as the flooding, because of the ra falling upwards of 9 inches along the coast. Much less as you get away from the coast but not just from the rainfall, also from the coastal flooding potential as the storm begins to get closer tomorrow, perhaps 1 to 2 feet of storm surge coming up. And a little higher as you get further north. All the green you see here, all of this under flood watches, National Weather service thinking 8 to 12 inches through the day today, tomorrow and even into friday. So with a prolonged rain event. Then as far as the threatening day thursday. Again i think were talking Tropical Storm winds as opposed to hurricane winds which is certainly excellent news. So no big changes this morning as you wake up with us here. This is still a big rain event and will continue to be that way for the next couple days. And look at the plume of moisture breaking off and moving on top of us here. A prolonged rain event, that will do that for us. 35 to 45 mileperhour winds at the center of the storm expecting it to become a Tropical Storm today. Dont focus on whether or not it gets a name,le affect is going to be the same for us. It will be along the big bend thursday evening, friday morning. We have a Tropical Storm warning for Citrus County, Hernando County and pasco county, for winds in excess of 40 miles per hour. Along the coast of said counties a hurricane watch still remains in effect. I dont think well get 75 mile perhour winds plus but the Hurricane Center is playing it safe, potential gusts that way but i dont see that happening. I think this is again going to be mainly a big flood threat for us. Across our inland sections because of the rainfall but along the coast you are going to see coastal flooding with a 1 to 2foot storm surge for tomorrow as the storm continues to move in. Currently. Heavy downpours continue this morning as janelle has been tracking traffic. Losing lightning but not losing the heavy rain and more where that came from. Look at downtown st. Pete, 275, youre going down the skyway, its what we have had, upwards of 3 inches already in the last few hours. That would be again for tomorrow but well out ahead of it as weve been talking about its going to be a oneday wind event but multiday rain event. That began yesterday, it continues today.
