This is all mainly for tomorrow but we will have to get through a lot of rain today. This is why the flooding will be an issue. Rain already coming down hard in abbeville weve had five crashes reported in 275 and st. Pete. Slow down. Ill tell you where the slowdowns are coming up. Upwards of three inches in fact has fallen in the last couple of hours. That is why you had issues there. Slow it down. Look at the depression, its well to the south. So no big changes this morning as you wake up with us here. This is still a big rain event and will continue to be that way for the next couple days. And look at the plume of moisture breaking off and moving on top of us here. A prolonged rain event, that will do that for us. 35 to 45 mileperhour winds at the center of the storm expecting it to become a Tropical Storm today. Dont focus on whether or not it gets a name,le affect is going to be the same for us. It will be along the big bend thursday evening, friday morning. We have a Tropical Storm warning for Citrus County, Hernando County and pasco county, for winds in excess of 40 miles per hour. Along the coast of said counties a hurricane watch still remains in effect. I dont think well get 75 mile perhour winds plus but the Hurricane Center is playing it safe, potential gusts that way but i dont see that happening. I think this is again going to be mainly a big flood threat for us. Across our inland sections because of the rainfall but along the coast you are going to see coastal flooding with a 1 to 2foot storm surge for tomorrow as the storm continues to move in. Currently. Heavy downpours continue this morning as janelle has been tracking traffic. Losing lightning but not losing the heavy rain and more where that came from. Look at downtown st. Pete, 275, youre going down the skyway, its what we have had, upwards of 3 inches already in the last few hours. We continue to see that rainfall today on and off, not going to rain the entire day but what it does, its tropical rains so can accumulate quickly and cause what weve been dealing with on the roads this morning. Weve pop up especially in the st. Pete area. Looks like theres a little break in the rain for the moment. This is one crash were watching, southbound lanes at 28th street south. Looks like only one lane getting through. Theyve also had to shut down two northbound lanes through downtown st. Pete on 275 due to standing water. So we are seeing slowdowns here on 275, 57 the average speed heading northbound. 60 the average speed heading southbound. Also have a crash on the Sunshine Skyway, reports of an can see the slowdown here. It was in the red, now in the yellow so looks like maybe theyve got that truck back upright, maybe off to the side. Were seeing just about a three minute delay across the Sunshine Skyway so you may want to leave yourself extra time if youre heading that way. This is what were seeing the next few days. Weve been talking about the flooding potential and the rain that comes down two to three inches an hour sometimes and we cannot drain that fast enough. Even talking about flooding and even streams and rivers getting involved the next couple of days. This is exactly where its happening, in st. Pete, 275 at 54. Just one area where it has been raining buckets so far this morning. Put this in motion and you can see lots of heavy rain, in fact we have plenty of lightning, weve lost that a little but doesnt matter because you have more rain on the way. Waves of it on and off throughout the day today. That will continue to impact our bridges, now getting into downtown tampa as well. Its going to be slow commute but that is all we want it to be for you, a slow commute. Standing water turn around certainly. One to three inches already family fell the last couple of hours. Its from the last tropical depression. You dont need a name for it to be a big problem here. We talk about heavy rain continuing. Theres the heavy band that set up. This continues to move north. No significant changes as far as what we can expect for our area. Theres been changes as far as the track moving a little further west, excellent for our nature coast here as the waves and storm surge not as significant. That would center which continues to trend further and further west. I still think coastal flooding is possible tomorrow. 1 to 2 feet at times of high tide especially and then we have the Tropical Storm warnings that include now the entire counties here of citrus, hernando and pasco with winds in excess of 40, 45 miles per hour. That would be again for tomorrow but well out ahead of it as weve been talking about its going to be a oneday wind event but multiday rain event. That began yesterday, it continues today. Tomorrow, even through the total from 6 to 9 inches and big cutoff inland as you head away from the heavy rain bands, 3 to 5 inches, which is plenty but not enough for a flood watch which has now been posted from the nature coast all the way down into sarasota. Weather service thinking 8 to 12 inches, that is through friday morning, goes into effect through 2 00 p. M. Forecast looking better as getting rid of the storm. Well do that late friday. For the weekend youre good. 50 to 60 rain that would be just into the afternoon. This is the time you want to get your stormshield ready. This is back in the day we had weather radios. This is northbound on the Sunshine Skyway, now taking about 14 minutes to get from toll booth to toll booth. So if youre heading that way definitely want to leave extra time because the rain combined with the crash is going to take you a little bit of time to get across the Sunshine Skyway.
