Here in midtown, where trump is expected to speak tonight, the police are already setting up pens on 42nd street and the side streets to make cope with large protests. The billionaire is here trying to convince people new york is his kind of town because he hopes it will help him cinch the republican nomination. We are home and i love long island. Reporter donald trump was at a Suffolk County fundraiser just hours before he will take the stage with ted cruz and john kasich at a black tie gala for the state republican committee. He hopes to clean up delegates in next weeks New York Primary. As his advisers are telling top republicans, there will be no convention fight. Trump will get the nomination. I dont see how we dont do very well in new york. I dont see how we do very well next week. I think were on a glide path. They outlined a scenario in which he will go to the convention in cleveland with 1265 delegates, 28 more than the 1,237 needed. The strategy for john kasich and ted cruz here in new york and the rest of the primaries is to win enough delegates to stop trump and forcing battling at the convention. Reporter a town proposal to build this Minor League Ballpark struck out with ramapo voters in 2010. 70 voted no. Longtime town have you ever christopher st. Lawrence built it anyway and in the process, the supervisor may have broken the law. Whether you run a corporation or you lead a town, you are not allowed to cook the books. Plain and simple. Reporter the u. S. Attorney used charts to illustrate claiming st. Lawrence and his head of development aaron to make it seem like the town had money in its general fund and could afford to float 100 million in bonds to build the ballpark and other projects. In fact, the town was deep in the red. St. Lawrence and troodler lied repeatedly about the towns finances, deceiving both the citizens of ramapo as well as thousands of bond investors. We learned today that the fire that killed two young sisters in their apartment in the bronx was started by burning incense. Their grieving mother returned to the building in the butler houses this morning. Authorities say she left her 2 yearold and 18monthold daughters home alone last night with incense burning in the third floor apartment you see there. The fdny says there were no working smoke detectors inside. Was too black. We couldnt breathe. The mother came running looking and crying, my babies, my babies at the time the fire began, the mother was seen on security video across the street doing laundry.
