Sources say four Police Officers got into a shootout with 27yearold gerald harris, who allegedly led them on a chase through this neighborhood then opened fire at them several times. Sources say a 52yearold was packing up his car for a Holiday Weekend trip. He walked away and left the car unlocked. Gerald harris got into the vehicle. When the owner returned he confronted the stranger and harris shot him and took off. I saw somebody running down the street. That was it. It was hectic. People were screaming throughout the night. Reporter police say the victim tried running after him and found some Police Officers. When the cops spotted harris at bushwick and jefferson, he hid behind a Police Cruiser and shot at them. Those officers called for backup. When they chased the suspect down the block to broadway, he apparently ran towards them continuing to shoot until he was struck by one of their bullets. Davis has been at large until he was taken into custody this morning. He has been identified through several witnesses at the store that were working that day as the person who committed these larcenies.
