Estimates black friday is such an event in our country, four out of ten american shoppers do their holiday buying today. The question thats on a lot of consumers minds is do you actually go out and buy today or do you maybe play the waiting game . The answer is both. You probably do a little bit of shopping today and then you supplement that in subsequent days leading up to christmas. Its estimated for every one penny drop in the price at the pump, consumers have an additional billion dollars in Discretionary Spending money. Weekend today Sheinelle Jones is here with breaking news out of texas this morning. Yes. A gunman is dead after a shootout with police on the downtown streets of austin, texas. The suspect was shooting at Police Headquarters and other nearby buildings. He was shot and killed by police. Police still arent sure about the motive. No one else was injured in the incident. Some dramatic video this morning of two new york boys being can pulled to safety after being buried in a snow bank for several hours. A plow operator inadvertently pushed snow over their fort norkts realizing they were there. The snow was probably six or seven feet tall. Early thanksgiving morning, captured on a cell phone camera, shows police and residents frantically digging out two boys buried in snow for hours in subfreezing hours. Wasnt thinking much, just trying to get to the kids. Police say the cousins, ages 9 and 11, were building a fort when a plow driver, clearing the lot, dumped more snow on top of them. When the boys didnt return home around 10 00 pm, Newburg Police canvassed the neighborhood until something caught an officers eye. At that point, he thought he would take a couple of digs in there and saw the boot of one of the children. Everybody was contributing with shovels. The boys were found conscious and suffering from exposure from the cold much even though they had to spend thanksgiving in the hospital, this mother is grateful that her son and his cousin are alive. The pope has taken a strong stand against isis, supporting the use of force against them and calling their persecution of christians in syria and iraq the worst since the early days of christianity. Well, this morning a woman is recovering after firefighters saved her from a burning building in atlantic city. These boys in new york, two cousins, ages 9 and 11, building a snow fort. A lot of us remember being outside. I was out with my sister all day long, building fo forts and stuff like that. They were buried by a snow plow. They were playing around. The guy, i guess, didnt see them. They end up stuck for hours. Their parents didnt know. I ca they called police at 100 at night. Neighbors jumped in and Police Officers spotted a shovel or shoe. And it took the whole neighborhood to get these boys out. Theyre going to be okay. But can you imagine . They were trapped for hours under there. Hours, yeah. Police said their fort protected them, made a little air pocket so they could breathe in there. Theyre both going to be okay. The parents looked for them themselves, thought they were just out in the yard, in the neighborhood and then realized, wait a minute, this is a situation. They called the police and the police saw a shovel sticking out. Trying to dig out from the inside. After a while they probably thought uhoh. So much snow. It happened in newburg. They got really pummeled with snow. If i was out for hours with my sister, my mom wouldnt think anything of it for a while. Right. But then with nightfall, thats kind of scary. We have flood watches right in seattle itself because of the heavy rain. Already, a couple of inches of rain has fallen. Well see even more over the course of the next several hours. But then watch what happens as this cold front moves down from the north. Could even see the rain change over to snow for a little while. Not a lot of accumulation. As you point out this is like an italian wedding soup. Instead of meatballs were making stuffing dumplings. Were going to add some bread crumbs as a binder. Bread on bread but it works. Some eggs. This is really good. Dont you like it . Doesnt it all play nice together . And some parmesan cheese. This is whats going to make it italian and hot pepper flakes. I cant help myself. I just love hot stuff. And so we mix it up. Shape it into the balls. Then what you do, mix this even more. You put them right into the soup. Here goes the soup. Now what also makes this italian is you start with escarole. I had onions and garlic sauteing. Add escarole or finish with some spinach. This just wilts now. Dumplings take about 15 minutes in there covered. And leftover turkey. Put it right on top. Right on top. There you go. Look how beautiful it looks. Lets move on. Chloe wants to know how to deal with the controlling mother or fatherinlaw. Good luck. How do you do that . First you have to understand peoples motivation. In all human dynamics, what is motivating this person to be that way. With a controlling motherinlaw, it is feeling like im not significant, like im not important, either as a mother or motherinlaw. The second part what if she isnt. If she isnt important to the well, understand that that insecurity is not going to change. But you can influence. So if you say, you know what, i can go some way to making this person feel a bit more important, you know, it might be that i talk about how, you know, her son hasnt stopped talking over the last week, it might be saying i cant wait to have your turkey, it was so amazing last year i cant wait. Or give them both a glass of wine and say you guys go and talk. I think one of the problems is that someone who is a controlling mother or fatherinlaw might try and take control of every situation. So instead of you addressing them directly and saying, look, you know what, it is not okay youre doing this, were in a relationship and youre not in it, you should have a conversation with your partner, you never want to get between your partner and his parents. It is very, very sticky. Have a conversation with your partner and say, look, this is how im feeling and i feel like im not as important here, and this is why.
