Reporter and ted, police tell me an officer on patrol here this morning heard the sounds of breaking glass and arrived at this parking lot and found a group of people Wearing Masks. They were Holding Mason jars filled with white paint and throwing them at this mural of frank rizzo. The suspect also spray painting antipolice graffiti and the words r. I. P. David which is likely a reference to david jones shot and killed by police. This is the latest he is calais, and this time antipolice messages plastered on the mural. Earlier this week, vandals also targeted the rizzo statue in center city. Neighbors here tell us this is unacceptable and not a productive way to send a message. They really are destroying a piece of art. Even though you disagree with the man this, is someones work on the wall. What i dont want is the rizzo family name to go down in history as a bunch of racists because its not true. State police say the gunfire broke out around 9 00 last night, a witness says about a dozen shots rang out, Police Sources say that the suspect was killed. Medics transported the wounded troopers to hospitals, both reported to be stable and alert. In florida, one officer is dead, another seriously wounded following a shooting in central florida, it happened last night in kissimmee near orlando. Poliay checking people in an area of the city known for drug activity when they were shot. Authorities say the officers had no chance to return fire. Police tell me last night they heard the sound of glass breaking, and they came out here to find this, a group of people Wearing Masks and they had white paint inside a mason jar. And police say they were throwing the jars right at the face of former mayor frank rizzo, also spray painting antipolice graffiti and the words r. I. P. David which is likely a reference to david jones who was shot and killed by police earlier this year. This mornings vandalism is the latest escalation this time offend suffer antipolice messages on the mural. Police did arrest one of the vandals.
