This one to start is on route 202. Its right around route 401. You can see lane restrictions in both directions. Even down to one lane in some spots. Also, the vine street expressway still watching that construction there. Were a little behind schedule here. Westbound and eastbound, some exit ramps and some partsc of e road are still closed. Theyve opened up some of them but still, that means you want to take your alternate, local vine, because it is closed between the vine street and the schuylkill expressway. The schuylkill expressway, lets check that out. No problems with drive times right now. Eastbound into center city, a 12minute trip from the blue route to the vine and speeds in the 60s. Just about two after 5 00. Were following breaking news out of northeast philadelphia where one woman is dead this morning after she was hit by a van on roosevelt boulevard. It happened near the corner of the boulevard and adams avenue. Nbc 10s katy zachry is live on scene in the citys crescentville section. Katy, police tell us the impact sent that victim hundreds of feet down the boulevard. Tell us more about what happened. It was an enormous impact. Thats what witnesses told police, tracy. Witnesses told police the woman was doing what so many of us have done so often. She was crossing the street at a marked crosswalk when the light had turned green and witnesses say, as she was doing that, she was hit by a speeding van that threw her body about 200 feet. Thats more than half the length of a football field. Witnesses told police the impact was so strong, she was first thrown up on the vans hood, her head slammed into the windshield and she was airborne quite a distance. When police arrived, they say she was dead on the road and the white or silver mini van that people saw hit her had driven off. It was last seen going east on adams avenue. Police say this has been upgraded from a hit and run to vehicular homicide. They also say the driver will be caught. Again, the description of the van theyre looking for, a white or silver mini van with extensive windshield, bumper and just overall front end damage. In terms of the victim here, they say shes a young woman, possibly late teens, early 20s. She didnt have any identification on her. So if you have any information, you need to call homicide detectives. One other thing, police have shed some light on exactly what was taking place at the time of impact. They say the woman may have been distracted as she was walking across the crosswalk. More information on that coming up at 5 30. Reporting live in crescentville, katy zachry, nbc 10 news. Katy, thank you. This morning, were getting new information on the man accused of killing 50 people inside a nightclub in orlando. Nbc 10s Pamela Osborne is live with that information in the digital operations center. Pam . 29yearold omar mateen apparently was no stranger to the scene of the shooting. This revelation comes from a regular at pulse nightclub. He told investigators that he had seen mateen at the club in the past on more than one occasion. The fbi tells nbc news that investigators are getting similar reports who others who say omar mateen had been at the club several times before. Theyre also looking into reports that mateen sent messages from an online gay dating site. They also started the process of recreating the crime scene in an effort to better understand exactly what happened. Federal Officials Say omar mateen appears to have been a homegrown extremist. We know mateen was on the fibs watch list for remarks he made about terrorist connections but the case was closed. If he tried to buy a gun then, the fbi would have been notified. Because the investigation was over, he was able to and did legally purchase the weapons he used in the attacks a littlec over a week ago. Fortunately hes evil. We happened to be the gun store he picked. Theres nothing else i can say. Its horrible. That response coming from the gun dealer who sold two guns to omar mateen. He offered his condolences to the victims and their families, adding that he did everything by the book. And on thursday, president obama will travel to orlando to pay his respects to the victims. Coming up in the next half hour, well tell you more about the victims and how theyre being remembered. One of them, an 18yearold philly teen who just graduated from high school last week. Hours after the nightclub massacre, Edison Police and the fbi spent hours inside a home where her brother lives. Yesterday, he confirmed his sister was physically and verbally abused during their marriage to mateen. He said he is in disbelief over the terror in orlando. Barely knew the guy but its a terrible thing to happened. Its really a tragedy. I feel bad for those 50 people that lost their family, sons, daughters. Authorities will not say if they seized anything from the house, adding that its still an active investigation. Now to an nbc news exclusive. Matt lauer talked with the pulse nightclub owner. She founded the club after her brother died of aids as a place where gay men and women would feel welcome. How do you make what was the mission and do it justice now . A man wanted for murdering three people in West Virginia is under arrest in chester county. Eric shoot is accused of killing three men yesterday near a state park in West Virginia. Authorities say the killing was sparked by a fight over firewood. He was originally from pensville salem county. Pennsylvania state Police Arrested him earlier this morning in chester county. Today the fan accused of throwing a bottle at Phillies First baseman ryan howard will be in court. 21yearold sydney smith from wilmington turned himself in on friday. Hes charged with disorderly conduct. Howard wasnt hurt in the incident on june 4th at Citizens Bank park. Delaware is looking to crack down on distracted drivers. House lawmakers plan to vote this week on a bill that would toughen penalties for anyone caught texting and driving. The bill would increase the penalty for a first offense from 50 to 100. The fine for drivers caught again would jump as high as 300. The bill has to pass the senate but governor jack markell says he will sign it. Police are testing out a new piece of equipment. The Department Announces its launching a Pilot Program to use body cameras. The test will run through the rest of the year. The Department Hopes to have ten officers outfitted with the cameras. The goal is transparency between police and the community. We strongly believe creating and engaging in new practices will help to create a level of transparency and credibility between our community and police department. It will cost between 70,000 and 100,000 to fund the cameras for all officers. Chester was given a 10,000 donation for the Pilot Program. Voters are split down the middle when it comes to bringing the Casino Industry to north jersey. Theres a group of south jersey businesses called no north jersey casinos.
