Several streets in pin el as county are underwater. Radar on wheels in north carolina. We can give you the most updated forecast. The radar can extend 75 miles, and it can show us views inside the storm that you cant get anywhere else. The nbc 10 First Alert Team is tracking hermine and its impact on our Holiday Weekend, and even into next week. We have you covered at the beaches and in the air. We begin with meteorologist sheena parveen. Sheena, i know timing and location are critical here. Yes, jacqueline, very critical to the weekend forecast. And like you mentioned, storm ranger 10, we drove it to Elizabeth City. I have that look in just a second. Hermine is in South Carolina right now. The winds are 50 miles an hour near the center. Its weaker than yesterday as it made landfall as a category 1 hurricane. Its moving at 20 miles an hour. Its picked up speed here. When it gets closer to us, its expected to slow down offshore. Not good news for us. The rain extends to the north and northeast. The right side of any tropical system is always going to be the worst side. There you see the left side of the center. Not much happening. Actually clear skies there. The clouds for us are already starting to increase. Its approaches parts of southern virginia currently. Some of the heaviest rain bands in this thing are close to 3 inches of rain per hour. The good news with that, though, yes, its heavy tropical rain but its not going to sit in one area for an hour. The flooding concern will not come from the rain for us, it will be coming from high tide, along with an yoen shore wind and the water getting pushed onshore. Closer to the center of the storm, off the coast of South Carolina, 18foothigh waves with winds gusting near about 60 miles an hour. You see closer to home, we are dry. The rain is just to our south. It will be moving into part of the area tomorrow. Now we zoom into Elizabeth City where we find storm ranger 10, the only mobile radar youll find on wheels. We can move it wherever we want whenever we want. Well keep it around for the weekend with this storm. There you see some of the heavier rain. As we go into the weekend, we have a Tropical Storm warning for the jersey shore and delaware beaches surrounding the delaware bay. We could see winds gusting as high as 60 miles an hour. The closer look at the updated track and what to expect for your weekend, chief meteorologist glenn hurricane schwartz is standing by. This is not one of the storms that will actually make landfall at the jersey shore, but it could produce so much flooding, that it does go down in history. Now, we could see that there is a lot of rain associated with that storm. And its moving in our general direction. And, of course, it will come with the track. So as the track goes up towards the northeast, that whole big rain area that sheena just showed you, is going to shift up, too. And the storms not really weakening very much. And then it goes out into the warm atlantic waters, as the gulf stream thats even warmer than usual, over 80 degrees, thats enough to support a hurricane. And it could potentially redevelop into a hurricane. Theres the 75mileanhour predicted max wind with a bit of a left curve, or doing a little loop or stalling not far offshore. Thats kind of a worst case, considering a storm coming from the gulf of mexico. Gulf of mexico storms dont generally do anything like this. But as it stalls, its pulling winds from hundreds and hundreds of miles out to sea, churning up those waves, sending them right for the beaches. Hour after hour after hour, and day after day after day. And each high tide gets a little bit higher. So thats the setup, until the wind starts blowing offshore, that water is not going to be going down. Well talk more about the specifics of what to expect at the shore and everyonewhere else in our area in a few minutes. If you are headed to the shore or staying home this weekend, make sure you download the nbc 10 app. It will be valuable to you. We caught up with philadelphia congressional candidate james jones who was inside that meeting. Im involved with mr. Trump in a meeting. We talked about how to bring more jobs back into america. And i believe he can be able to do that. Some in the Africanamerican Community have called the meeting a media stunt. So what did donald trump have to say about his visit to philly . Nbc 10s lauren mayk spoke to him one on one. She joins us live from north philadelphia. Lauren, i know you addressed a lot of topics with him. What did he have to say . We met with numerous africanamerican folks from the area, and theyre having a tremendously hard time. And we will make things so good. Reporter in our oneonone interview, we also talked about immigration, a central issue to trumps campaign. One where plans for undocumented immigrants who have not committed crimes is still unclear. Once the border is secure and weve stopped this horrible flow of illegal immigration, in fact, i just was with an incredible family that lost their daughter to a person that should never have been in this country, illegal immigrant who never should have been in, once thats done over a period of time, we sit back, where is the country, whats happening, and we make a determination for the people that are here that werent criminals, other than the fact that they came in illegally, and we make that determination at a future date. And hopefully it have been a very positive determination. The first thing we have to do people could stay and not get legal status . Heres what i see. I see a possibility that were going to look at this very, very strongly over a period of time. I asked the republican nominee about his plans to withhold federal funds from socalled sanctuary cities like philadelphia. We defund sanctuary cities, we hold back money. Sanctuary cities are a disaster in this country. Would that include medicaid money . Law enforcement money . Theyve going to give them up. Sanctuary cities are for criminals to protect themselves. Reporter the conversation came just after the fbi released new notes from their investigation of Hillary Clintons email setup. Trumps response . I think that the fbi is ashamed of themselves for their final adjudication for what happened. I think theyre ashamed of themselves. Why do you think that . Look at these notes. And also, why dont they have tape recordings of this meeting . Theyre taking notes of the meeting. The notes are horrible, by the way, for her. Theyre horrible. But why wasnt she put on tape . Reporter the clinton emails, the foundation has been under scrutiny for how things were handled while Hillary Clinton was secretary of state. So i asked donald trump what he would do if he is elected to make sure there is no conflict with his business. He said he would put it in a trust and that his children could run it. Now its getting pretty close to being offshore. Were also seeing some of the outer bands strengthening. This is still a tropical system. And it has a chance to maintain that. Now, look at the leading edge thats moved 40 miles in four hours. Thats 10 miles an hour. And so its now about 170 miles from southern delaware. So that would put the rain starting time around noon. So it could start raining as early as noon in southern delaware tomorrow, just to give you an idea. The Tropical Storm warning, all up and down the jersey shore, all of delaware bay, even the Delaware River may be affected. Gusts of 60 miles an hour at the shore. Theres a Tropical Storm warning until monday at 5 00 p. M. Heres the track. Northeast, right near the coast. So it doesnt really weaken much. Then it strengthens out in the warm waters and stalls. Or does a little curve back toward land, or a little loop here. Whatever, thats bad. Because it keeps spinning that water right toward the beaches and strengthens, too. Thats Hurricane Force winds its projected to be. The high tide, atlantic city, rehoboth beach, some of these may be record levels. Thats the kind of potential that we have. Were talking about potentially having roads closed, as people try to leave the shore. Certainly not going to be pleasant sunday and monday. Were going to have minor tidal flooding late saturday, getting worse sunday and monday. The flooding in the back bays may not go down for several days. And then, of course, that tidal flooding all the way up into the Delaware River. You can see the computer models, very many of them doing that left turn. Some of them all the way back to the coast. And weve seen storms like this in history, not many of them, but they all end up bad. Saturday, northeast 15 to 30, minor coastal flooding at the shore. There will be a big difference between shore and inland. Sunday rain heavy at times. Moderate coastal flooding. Winds 35 to 55 monday. Gusts probably higher. Major coastal flooding by then as long as the winds are still onshore. But look at tomorrow. Cloudy day. Cool day. But not bad. Even at the shore its not as bad. But at the shore its going to be really bad starting sunday, especially. Thats when the heaviest rain comes, strongest winds. Delawares going to get hit pretty hard, especially southern delaware, near the delaware beaches. But look at this. P. A. Suburbs, chester, montgomery, bucks, may not see any rain, or maybe just a little bit of rain on sunday. Lehigh valley, probably no rain. Sunshine tomorrow. Its going to be such a sharp edge here. Depends where you are as to how bad the weather is going to be. And of course, the shore is not going to be the place to be. And thats not just through monday. Even tuesday there could be a little bit of rain and wind associated with that. And then look what happens as we go through the rest of the ten days. Once we get rid of this thing, its going to heat up again. Looks like were going to have another heat wave with temperatures in the 90s by the middle of the week, perhaps extending into next weekend.
