She said shes heard reports a human bone was found near the home and says she knows the homeowner, a man she and her daughter worked with. From the air, state police could be seen using buckets to haul away dirt and sift it to look for evidence. No charges have been filed in the case. Nbc 10 learned Pennsylvania State police obtained a search warrant in the case filed in Monroe County, and its under seal. Grim vanished in 2013. She had taken her son to the bus stop. She was supposed to go to work but instead her car was in her driveway and grim was gone. Jeanette hopes holly will come home. I know when you get the opportunity, youll come home to us. Were doing our best to bring your son up right. You can be very proud of him. Reporter at this point the Monroe County District Attorneys Office and the Pennsylvania State police are saying very little on the record about this investigation. Again, the home is a coworker of holly grim who no longer works in allentown. We stopped and talked with the owner, he says you cant talk about the case. He says every time Pennsylvania Police have stopped in there, they have been cooperated. Grim saying she wants people to continue searching for her daughter. Live in ross township, Deanna Durante, nbc 10 news. Also tonight, a developing story in the caribbean. Right now the people of haiti are bracing for the worst of Hurricane Matthew. Heavy rain has already led to flooding and at least four deaths. Right now other countries in the caribbean are warning people to evacuate. Cuba, jamaica, and the bahamas are bracing for potential flooding and strong winds from Hurricane Matthew. Nbcs Morgan Radford joins us now from kingston, jamaica. Morgan, whats the latest from there . Reporter denise, keith, good morning well, good evening now. The eastern bands of that storm system have already dropped heavy rain on the eastern part of the island. Thats where about 900 people have gone into shelters. Those who are deciding to brace for this storm this evening, theyre collecting bottles of water, stocking up their car with extra gas. Winds could reach 140 Miles Per Hour and rain 10 to 15 inches. This is one of the most severe storms the caribbean have seen thus far. People are not only concerned about Hurricane Matthew but also concerned about the aftermath. Were talking about flash floods and mudslides. And everyone weve spoken to here not only mentions Hurricane Matthew but also hurricane gilbert back in 1988. To give you a sense of scale, that was a category 3 and it almost completely debilitated this island, leaving it without electricity for three months. So people here are not taking any chances with this category 4. Back to you. Morgan bradford live. Lets get the latest from nbc 10 meteorologist sheena parveen. There is still uncertainty about where Hurricane Matthew could go next. Its moving north, could get into the bahamas over the next few days. After that, theres a wider range of uncertainty. Theres jamaica, hispaniola, cuba. This is a wellorganized, strong category 4 storm with hurricane warnings over cuba, hispaniola and the bahamas. Were seeing a strong hurricane with damaging winds. Lots of rain, like we mentioned. We could see over 15 inches of rain in some of these caribbean islands. Max winds, 140 Miles Per Hour, moving to the north at seven Miles Per Hour, relatively slow for a hurricane. As it continues moving north, it will be passing near the bahamas by about thursday afternoon. A lot of computer models are agreeing on this, at that time it could be a category 3 hurricane. Florida back in the cone from thursday to friday. The track has shifted just abilitia little bit farther to the west, putting the United States more in the track friday and saturday afternoon, could be nearing north or South Carolina by the weekend. Theres a lot of uncertainty so well be watching this closely. Computer models have it going up the east coast of the United States, and then a big range of uncertainty. Pretty quick movers, fairly light. But the clouds will hang around. Even for wednesday well stay mostly dry, and the clouds will still be with us. More sunshine through the day on thursday. But then by thursday, take a look at what should be off the coast of south florida, over the bahamas. That would be Hurricane Matthew by thursday afternoon. So the recent update, the most recent as of 5 00 p. M. From the National Hurricane center, still a category 4 hurricane, winds sustained at 140 miles an hour, moving fairly slow to the north at seven Miles Per Hour. It is impacting jamaica, hispaniola, on its way to cuba. By thursday could be a category 3 hurricane as it nears florida. Well be watching that very closely. This is the updated track. More of the United States is now in this track. Its shifted farther to the west. Were going to be watching this closely to see if it maybe skims the florida east coast. South carolina, north carolina, and more of this forecast cone as we go into the weekend than we had previously. Of course as we get later into the weekend, well be watching for it to potentially impact our weather. Were still a little bit too far out to tell. We will be watching it with its proximity to us as we go from mostly saturday, sunday, and monday. Here is a look at the computer models, the time frame being about saturday to monday here, depending on the speed of this thing, as we know these things starts to change more as we get closer. The spread here with the computer models, thats about 800 miles. So i think by the middle to end of this week especially, well have a much better idea on the speed and of course what track this storm will be taking. But as of now, it is definitely something for us to watch. Temperatures over the next couple of days with your tenday forecast, upper 60s tuesday and wednesday. Back in the 70s by the end of the week. Ill put a rain chance in for saturday and sunday. But of course that forecast will most likely get adjusted as we go further out in time. Reporter more than a thousand emergency shelters are opened as Hurricane Matthew barrels down on haiti. Some areas could see up to 40 inches of rain, that could trigger deadly mudslides in a country thats still struggling to recover from a deadly earthquake six years ago. Hurricane matthew has dumped torrential rain and is making its way north. Haitis airport is closed and the interim president in haiti is warning residents to take cover. It will come to the United States by thursday afternoon, at that time well have a better idea. But parts of florida and the east coast are in part of the cone now, that update coming in at 5 00. This is the center, the eye of Hurricane Matthew getting closer to haiti, which is under a hurricane warning, as well as cuba, and the bahamas under a hurricane warning, a strong category 4 storm. And it is very well organized. We do not not expect this thing to be weakening dramatically anytime soon. Max winds 140 miles an hour, right around the center. You see the cloud cover extending as far north already as the bahamas. The most updated track from the National Hurricane center, a lot of computer models are in agreement, which is why the cone is fairly fnarrow until thursda, that this will be passing over the bahamas as a category 3 hurricane, a major hurricane. Florida is a little bit more in the cone, as well as parts of the southeast, along the east coast, up through north carolina. This cone as of the 5 00 p. M. Advisory has shifted a little farther to the west, that does include more of the United States. Again, were still fairly far out in time. Were looking at saturday afternoon here, approaching south or north carolina. Potentially as a category 2. But this again could change. The cone gets wirder as we go farther out in time because of the uncertainty. Look at the what the computer models are doing. Once we get right around the southeastern coast, there is quite a bit of a spread here. When it gets closer to the midatlantic states, that would be about an 800mile spread here of this this would be closer to the weekend, potentially by the end of the weekend, so well be watching this very closely for updates later this evening as well as of course the rest of this week. This morning Hillary Clintons National Campaign manager told us, you can expect to hear her running mate talk about taxes during tomorrows debate. Senator kaine is going to be talking about the plan that he has put together with secretary clinton to get this economy working for everybody, not just those at the top. Rather than talking about how smart it is not to pay your taxes, hes going to talk about how well get billionaires and millionaires paying their fair share. Much of hispaniola, on its way to cuba, ultimately the bahamas. Its a very strong hurricane. 73 now in philadelphia, 75 in wilmington. Low 70s for south jersey neighborhoods as well as our pennsylvania suburbs. Closer look at the philadelphia area, kensington coming in 75 degrees. Graduate hospital, 76. Fox chase coming in 74 degrees. Chestnut hill down to 68. Still a very comfortable afternoon. Take a look at what temperatures will do over the next couple of days. In philadelphia weve been in the mid70s. Tomorrow, 68. Wednesday, 69. Feeling a lot more like fall. Well end out the week with temperatures in the mid70s. Then our attention turns to what Hurricane Matthew will be doing at that time. Locally were pretty much mostly dry. There is one area seeing some rainfall. That is in parts of berks county heading into upper Montgomery County. Thats really about it. We just have this one shower that will be moving into Montgomery County soon. But then we go into wednesday and expect another dry day, partly to mostly cloudy skies. By thursday, more in the way of sunshine. At the same time, Hurricane Matthew should be right over the bahamas. Its a very strong hurricane. Well be watching this very closely. At that point, by thursday, it will be close to the United States. Right now, max winds 140 miles an hour, making it a category 4. Theres jamaica, theres hispaniola, cuba is right there. This storm will continue tracking north, putting it very close to south florida. The recent update with the hurricane track does put more of the United States in the track. Its shifted farther to the west. By the beginning of the weekend, it could be approaching south or north carolina. Of course this track, we do expect it to change at least a little bit farther out in time. Well have more updates coming up later this evening and of course as we go through the week. Stay tuned. The story a lot of people are talking about today, reality tv star Kim Kardashian west robbed at gunpoint inside a private residence in paris overnight. Armed robbers made off with millions of dollars of jewelry. Nbcs Erica Byfield has the latest. Reporter we saw reality star Kim Kardashian west and her husband kanye west in their tribeca neighborhood. This is the first time weve seen her since fake cops in paris tied her up and got away with millions of dollars worth of jewels. She was there for fashion week. Sources tell nbc news the highest happened in this residence early sunday morning. Celebrities are known to stay here. Its like a bed and breakfast. One Security Guard was on duty overnight. The phony cops restrained him, went to kims room, and managed to tie her up and locked her in a bathroom. Pariss mayor released a statement that says, i have complete confidence in the effort to identify and apprehend the authors of this crime. We saw her mother, kris jenner, just before afternoon. About a half hour later, kims famous friend la la anthony showed up. We watched her leave 90 minutes ago. Next at 5 00, struggling to find answers. Crews are trying to clear the wreckage so investigators can access the train cars inside. Investigators say they recovered one of the event recorders but it wasnt operational. The black box remains in the control car but not accessible because of the dangerous debris. Nbcs tom costello has the latest on the investigation. Reporter this morning, photos from the ntsb show the extensive structural damage inside the hoboken station thats kept investigators from gaining access to much of the train. The engineer told investigators he had gotten plenty of sleep the night before the crash. He said the train and brakes were working normally. He said when he checked the speedometer, he was operating at 10 Miles Per Hour when entering the station track. The engineer says he has no memory of the accident. He remembers waking up on the floor of the cab. Reporter 10 Miles Per Hour is the posted speed limit. But witnesses say the train was going much faster. Another setback for the ntsb, the first black box retrieved wasnt working. No recording of the trains actual speed for braking action. Investigators hope a second black box, still inside the wreckage, captured the data. Meanwhile the body of the mother who died in the crash, Fabiola Bittar de kroon, is back in brazil for the funeral. I just told her, breathe, focus on your family, your loved ones, im not going to leave you. She fought. She really did try her best. Reporter also this morning, renewed focus on new Jersey Transits safety record. Federal rail inspectors were so concerned about the culture at nj transit, they began safety audits over the summer, finding dozens of alleged violations and ordering immediate fixes. Dozens of officers are sifting and digging in a search that could crack the mysterious disappearance of this woman nearly three years ago. That woman disappeared from her home in Lehigh County in november 2013. Now the search has led investigators to a house about an hour away in ross township, Monroe County.
