Midd middletown in Newcastle County seeing the rain, and you see the yellows, oranges, and zooming in more, i think, mostly, northern delaware is just going to be dealing with this for the time, and thats where we see the pockets of that heavier rain right now in Newcastle County. Along these areas, townsend seeing it too. This estimated rainfall, 13 inches in the area. We dont expect heavy rain like that this morning, but another thing we see with scattered showers is threat for coastal flooding, warning for the jersey shore and delaware beaches. This is for high tide between 7 and 9 30 tonight, expect street flooding, and adds vise ri for the delsz rivers, by 2 22 in the morning, thats when the high tide is by philadelphia. Watch for minor street flooding there. This evening, headed out, 10 00 p. M. , 51 in philadelphia, 4 the 9 by 6 00 in the morning, and showers are in the forecast for saturday, even in the pennsylvania suburbs and the lehigh valley, but theres sun in the afternoon. Late this afternoon, Police Arrested a suspect after three deadly shootings including two today at a mall and a Grocery Store eight miles apart. Nbc 10 is following the story from the Digital Operations Center joining us now live. What have you learned, jack . We learned the suspect was threatening suicide by cop before the shootings happened. Todays violence started at 11 30, shooting one person and two others came to help, and they were shot too. One of the victims tie died at the hospital, the other in critical condition. 20 minutes later, a woman shot and killed outside a Grocery Store. Investigators say the first shooting actually happened yesterday when the suspect shot and killed his estranged wife at the childs High School Parking lot. It was a scary time for people throughout the area, and police say they are still piecing everything together to find out what happened. The suspect was a Law Enforcement officer for the federal government, but he was put on leave when someone filed a protective order against him back in march. The hitandrun crash happened 155 at 3 00 this morning. Or rather 6 00 this morning. Police think the woman lost control, left the road, and hit a tree. She got out of the car just before another vehicle hit and killed her. The wife of legendary penn state football coach wants to end the, quote, character assassination, that new allegations bring against her husband. Today, sue released a statement in response to a new court ruling that alleged paterno learned of child abuse allegations of Jerry Sandusky two decades earlier than first thought. Chris palone has the story. Reporter in a court battle between Penn State University and Insurance Company who should pay settlement money over the sexual abuse victims, a philadelphia judge made a r revelati revelation. The judge wrote insurance claimed a child reported to the head coach he was sexually molested. If true, that means paterno first heard the accusation nearly two decades earlier than he previously admitted, and, again, raises the question of whether paterno could have done more to stop the coach. We might never know if the allegation is true. Sandusky convicted on 45 counts of sexual abuse in 2012 serving 30 years in prison. Paterno died in 2012, and the alleged victims testimonies are sealed. Most students arrived after he was convicted and paterno died, but hearing this allegation adds another layer to ponder when considering his legacy. In my opinion, he did as much as he could have, just was not taken further by the university officials. It does make you question, like,ly who you are, like, supporting. Reporter in a written statement, the family called the new allegation unstanuated, and said its one again smeared the late coachs reputation. Penn state is unable to comment. We have new information on this fire crash that killed three people in bethlehem, a viewer captured the aftermath on video happening shortly before 1 15 this morning on willow park road near first street. We know police say a crashed into three parked cars. The cars, as you can see, then, burst into flames, killing three people inside the drivers vehicle. One man escaped. Hes being treated at the hospital for severe burns. We spoke to Police Moments ago. They tell us that the car sped by an officer right before the crash. The officer tried to catch up, but it was too late. We also spoke to a neighbor who heard the crash. And then i looked the window upstair, and i saw over the rooftop, i saw the big bright glow and the flames. Right now, investigators are still trying to identify all victims. It was a miserable morning commute for drivers traveling norlt on 95 near academy road. The area of low pressures spinning down to the south. We do have heavy pockets of rain, though, moving into the area, so well watch that have thanning, but if you head out, take the umbrella with you because scattered showers will be in the forecast. So through the area right now, we are mostly seeing some light scattered showers with moderate rain now developing in parts of Newcastle County. This is one section we watch for heavier rainfall at the moment headed to 95 here, and wilmington seeing it soon. Middletown as well, and that is headed towards major interstates. That is heavier rain in Newcastle County. Aside from that, we have the lighter scattered showers in the forecast. Some of those could be locally heavy, but not like this morning. In the back bays, five hours later, and we expect street flooding, moderate coastal flooding is a threat at the shore. Further inland, Coastal Flood Advisory, minor flooding, watching the Delaware River for that, high tide at 2 22 in the morning near philadelphia may be causing minor flooding there. Neighborhood temperature, though, still cool, 54 degrees in philadelphia, and the jersey shore coming in at 54 and south jersey at 48 degree, and pennsylvania sbubs, looking at new jersey neighborhoods, temperatures have stayed cool because of the rain, and, of course, the cloud cover. 53 in pitman, and if youre in mercer county, hope well township, 50 degrees, and princeton at 49 degrees right now. Reporter police say that bullet came through the victims door and traveled into the car, lodging into the Center Console likely saving that victims life, but the suspect fled in his car last seen taking the exit to conshocken. 476 is really bad. I cant believe that someone shot somebody, though. Driving side by side, suspect leaned out with the right arm firing a single shot into the passenger side door of the victims vehicle. Reporter the suspect fled, now nowhere to be found, but the police are tracking leads from the public. Detectives are on the street now going to businesses, checking cameras. They need help to identify the shooter 40 years old, driving a dark blue town car, and they warn drivers everywhere not to engage any deranged person behind the wheel. I recommend to merge lanes safely, stay at a safe distance away from the driver and call 911. It is that water from the back bay we expect to see fill up local streets here this evening with flooding thats more serious than this morning, and for some folks here, it comes with waves of worry. The threat of high water tonight causes high anxiety for john martin. His West Wildwood home still being reed after being severely flooded in januarys noreaster. Older you get, the more hahe shore communities this morning with my flooding causing low lying streets to fill with water, but continues high tide is expected to be more serious with widespread moderate coastal flooding. Built in the 1700s, and my understanding is originally a stop for travelers, a tavern. Reporter stayed put long after development has sprupg up around it. In the 1800s, the building was a general store. Any time you put a thumb tack in the wall, you have to get a variance or prove, so it blows my mind they think of knocking the whole thing down. Reporter the plan would be to straighten the road because behind franks property, a larger one, one thats historic. Abolition hall. The Historic Building owned privately along with a large plot of land, and now a developerments to put 48 town homes here. Its a landmark. The land mark stays, but the general store would be gone. It was part of the underground railroad in the civil war, and thereafter, and if you go in the basement here, and went its like going through the catacombs, dont get lost. Reporter we went to the basement, opportunity tunnels and pathways to freedom used by slaves looking to escape are there leading to the old abolition hall. The plan calls to be filled if the road is widened. They have put in a bid to buy the land to preserve all that is here, but that bid was rejected. Right now, though, we have a lot of rain around, but most of it has alreadied off to the west and down to the south, so theres a big area of low pressure just spinning right around delaware, and what we have seen today is very heavy rain this morning. Thats moved out, so now we are just seeing the scattered lighter rainfall except if you are in Newcastle County, thats one area where we, in fact, have one heavy pocket of rain moving through, so right around newark, 95, just in the north of middletown, this is moving out of New Castle County soon, though, and well be left with the lighter showers as we go through tonight. Aside from that, coastal flooding in the jersey shore and coastal beaches, a warning tonight at high tide, could be up to five hours later on the back bay. In the areas, you could see street flooding, so well watch that closely, and further inland, that would them start to affect the Delaware River.
