Chill in the air. Then in the pacific the strongest hurricane ever recorded is closing in on mexico, Hurricane Patricia could have a catastrophic impact. What a difference a day makes, yesterday in the high 70s and today anywhere between nine to up to 18 degrees colder, so 18 degrees colder in the poconos, down 13 degrees in philadelphia from this time yesterday, down 9 degrees in wilmington, down 10 degrees in Atlantic City and millville, so your current temperatures are barely in the 60s. 64 degrees in philadelphia, 61 in chester spring, 62 degrees, mid 60s in wilmington, barely at 60 in pottstown, low 50s in the poconos. Closer to south jersey, 69 here in woodbine, and tonight temperatures are going to get down into the 40s and 30s, so it is going to be a very cold start to your weekend, as well, temperatures hovering around freezing for allentown and the poconos tonight. 32 degrees for philadelphia and 44 for Atlantic City. A look back at yesterday, 77 degrees, today were more than ten degrees cooler at 64. Even into the weekend we are going to stay in the 60s both on saturday and sunday. Well take a closer look at the forecast in just a bit. All right, brittney. Now to Hurricane Patricia, strongest hurricane recorded in the western hemisphere and its on track to mexico, making landfall in just a few hours and forecasters say its winds are Strong Enough to send a plane aloft and keep it flying. Were going to get to glenn hurricane schwartz in a moment, but first the preparations for this monster storm. Reporter mexican authorities have issued a state of emergency and people are bracing for sustained winds of 200 miles per hour. Anyone on the coast is extremely, extremely dangerous. Reporter patricia only formed on wednesday and continued to churn and grow, moving towards the mexican coast. Its expected to make landfall near the tourist resort of puerta vallarta. Translator this hurricane will effectively be the most intense hurricane that has existed in this part of the pacific in our country since records began in 1949. Reporter more than 7 Million People will be directly affected when the storm makes landfall later tonight, including tourists from the united states. Hotels are trying to evacuate guests. I just worry because, i mean, if we dont get out of here, and we drove in to town to get out, which is not the direction we wanted to go, so if we dont make the flight, then were riding it out here. You know, once it makes landfall, there will be, you know, substantial surge and flooding at the coast. Reporter forecasters are calling Hurricane Patricia a historic storm, and are advising people to move as far inland as possible. Kurt gregory, nbc news. Dire warnings there. Its getting so close to land theres really no doubt that its going to be making landfall within hours. You can see the tiny eye of it very clearly, and this is just no exaggeration, you can measure hurricanes in different ways. The maximum winds, highest winds ever recorded in this portion of the world, and also the lowest pressure ever recorded. So we continue to see it moving toward the northeast. The sustained winds at 200 miles an hour. And the pressure lower than anything in this portion of the world. The worst part of it is that its hitting land. If it was a category 5 in the middle of the ocean it wouldnt be as big a deal. No matter what anybody tells you, they call them hurricanes in the eastern pacific. Its typhoons in the western pacific. You can win a big bet on that one. As it makes landfall its going to weaken, but its going to cause tremendous amounts of rain. Some of the remnants of that is going to go and hit texas over the weekend, not as a hurricane, but a lot of rain, and eventually some moisture coming our way. Tmz reports the football star was not at home at the time but say there were about six people inside who fought the intruders. Authorities believe this was connected to a gang. Sources tell tmz the intruders were not targeting jackson, but someone else inside the home. You might recall this is not the first time jackson has been the victim of a crime. January of last year his south philadelphia home was burglarized. The thieves made off with personal items and jewelry worth a quarter of a million dollars. The eagles released jackson back in march of 2014, just hours before that an article appeared on nj. Com that talked about jacksons connections to a gang in l. A. Jackson later told espn that report made, quote, crazy allegations. New information this afternoon on the deadly Center City Building collapse. Heavy equipment operator will not learn his fate until next month. He was expected to be sentenced today for his role in the collapse, but that was moved back to november 3rd. Benschop pleaded guilty to Involuntary Manslaughter and other charges in connection with the collapse on june 5, 2013, a building under demolition collapsed on a Salvation Army thrift store there, killed six people, 13 others were hurt. Earlier this week a jury convicted contractor Griffin Campbell on six counts Involuntary Manslaughter. New information on the man who hit and killed a jogger, now facing reckless driving and gun charges. 29yearold Allison Mcginnis was jogging on route 206 last summer, police say millers pickup crossed into oncoming traffic and hit and killed mcginnis. Millers passenger also died. Sky force 10 over the scene in august, police found a drug in millers truck. Details about toxicology tests are also not being released. Today a south Jersey Community said goodbye to a little boy at the center of a mysterious death investigation. 3yearold Brendan Creato was found dead last week in the woods in Haddon Township and today the boy was laid to rest. Reporter a lot of emotion, as you might imagine, the impact of brendans death has truly touched the heart of the community, we still have people within the hour stopping by the memorial and as close as the memorial is to where were standing, thats how close the church is to brendans grandparents home, as well as his fathers apartment, which was the last place he was seen before this terrible and mysterious tragedy. Just full of energy like any other 3 year old. Reporter a little boy who loved legos and jake the pirate according to loved ones and planned to be the incredible hulk next weekend for halloween. Hundreds came together inside Haddon Townships Holy Savior Church to say goodbye to 3yearold Brendan Creato. I was talking to the grandfather, people bringing them meals, offering them comfort. Reporter comfort today came in the form of hugs and tears after ten days of despair after brend brendans body was found by the cooper river. Today a tiny coffin covered in white roses was set into the hearse. Scott kelly grew up playing Little League with brendans grandfather. I said do you want to be alone or do you want people to be around . He said, no, it really helps people to be around. Thats whats carrying him through all this, its just devastating. Reporter kelly was moved by the intimacy of the prayers and called it a beautiful service. I think the father described it the best, mischievous, he was spontaneous, he loved music and the beatles Yellow Submarine was the last song they played in there. Reporter they know the Community Feels heart broken and says keep praying. People that dont really know them, so kind of pulled the community together. Be nice to find out what happened, too. Reporter and investigators announced two days ago there was no forced entry into the fathers apartment and no sign of any Sexual Assault to the little boy, though no one has been charged in brendans death, investigators are still very much hard at work. It is being called the worst accident in france in more than 30 years. 43 people died after a bus and a truck collided in the southern part of the country. It happened on a remote road near the famed wine country of bordeaux. Nbc 10s keith jones is following new developments from our Digital Operations Center and joins us with more. Keith . Jacqueline, the passengers of the bus were part of a Retirement Group on a day trip and we learned one of the victims was the Truck Drivers 3yearold son, the truck driver was also killed. The road where the accident happened is said to be notoriously dangerous. This is video of the remains of the bus, its a burntout shell. The truck was carrying lumber. Rescue crews lifted the injured to nearby hospitals. Nine people survived. The survivors were seen wrapped in foil blankets to keep warm. One french official said the truck driver lost control of the vehicle but the cause of this crash is still under investigation. We now know the identity of the First American soldier killed in the fight against isis. 39yearold Master SergeantJoshua Wheeler was killed in a rescue operation in iraq. The Defense Department says wheeler died from small arms fire during the mission. The oklahoma native is the First American to die in iraq since u. S. Forces withdrew four years ago. American special ops and Kurdish Forces landed near an isis prison early yesterday morning, the raid was supposed to rescue kurdish hostages about to be executed. Kurdish troops stormed in, but isis guards inside fought back, so u. S. Troops decided to step in. When the fight was over, the americans and curds got out with 75 hostages and five isis guards. This is with bright sunshine, so imagine how chilly its going to get tonight when we lose that. 69 degrees in woodbine is the warm spot. Temperatures ten to 15 degrees colder than this time yesterday. Mount pocono, 18 degrees colder. The lows tonight down to the freezing mark in allentown and mount pocono, 36 in reading, 34 in pottstown, 32 degrees in philadelphia itself. So its not like its that cold for this time of the year, but compared to what weve seen recently. Well, were certainly still dry. There are showers to the west. This is not a strong system. Its a weak front thats going to be coming through over the weekend. This is the strong system, this is Hurricane Patricia, the eye is tiny and theres 200 mile an hour winds around that thing. Going to be catastrophic here just in a matter of hours. Its a category 5 and if they had things up to category 6, this would be a category 6, because it is way, way stronger than the minimal category 5. Call it minimal. Well, the temperatures going up and down, this time they are going down. Watch how far down they go as we go through the night tonight, low 40s by 10 00, definitely need the coats out there. By tomorrow morning, look at some of those places in the 30s. Not much wind. Winds going to diminish. What about cloud cover . Start with sunshine tomorrow, then clouds during the day. No rain expected tomorrow or tomorrow evening, as youll see there, but well after midnight, heres that front coming down, and so if were going to see showers this weekend, it will be more like 5 00 to 7 00 a. M. On sunday. And then its gone. So we can handle that, right . Sundays even a decent day. Actually, a little bit warmer than saturday. The best color, south of the poconos, is coming during the next week or two and then farther to the south in parts of delaware and south jersey into early november, but in the poconos itself, the best color this weekend. You can see just about every tree has colors in it right now. Later on, were going to, of course, be seeing them all fall to the ground, which is whats happening up in Northern New England right now, the color is fading quickly. The wind is coming out of the north bringing the colder air down 10 to 15 miles an hour and that wind will diminish as we go through the night tonight. University of Delaware Police are looking for a man who tried to sexually assault a female student just after midnight thursday morning. The victim was running to the store when it happened. She was able to fend off her attacker. Campus police are going over surveillance footage. Hundreds gathered today to celebrate the life of 3yearold Brendan Creato of Haddon Township. Brendans body was found last week in the woods not far from his fathers home soon after he was reported missing. Right now how that little boy died remains a mystery. Well, its now day 150 without a budget in pennsylvania. Schools and social services are really feeling the crunch. They are not getting paid by the state. Authorities believe he may be hiding in atlanta. Police say thomas shot and killed shannon reid on west 27th street in wilmington back in april. They say he took off after the crime and hasnt been seen in the area since. Second man wanted in connection with a deadly Home Invasion in Newcastle County is now in police custody. He was on the run since last week. Shabazz and a second man broke into a home in dover, killed the home owner and an 18yearold woman. The home owners son was injured. The second suspect turned himself into police earlier this week. Getting in shape could put your security at risk. That is if you use those popular fitbits. Earlier this month a researchers from a Security Firm claimed she found a way to hack into a fitbit through its bluetooth connection. In a statement to nbc news the company says those reports are false and that the researcher confirmed to fitbit this was only a theoretical scenario. In response, a spokesperson for the Security Firm told nbc news its researchers demonstrated a vulnerability in fitbit that could Impact Computers via a bluetooth connection. A new lawsuit says one of the Worlds Largest retailers of Health Nutrition and energyrelated supplements knowingly sold products spiked with two synthetic drugs. The suit claims gnc continued to sell the supplements knowing they may contain substances known as hidden speed without testing them or warning customers. Federal and state officials have been cracking down on supplements that call themselves all natural but contain hidden drug ingredients. Gnc is not commenting on the lawsuit. New study by the Childrens Hospital of philadelphia shows female High School Athletes more likely to have knee injuries than males. Most of their injuries happen playing soccer, basketball, and lacrosse. Experts say programs focused on reducing injuries for those at risk sports could cut the number of knee injuries. Pregnant women who use marijuana are more likely to use other drugs, thats according to researchers. A quarter of the expectant moms who tested positive for marijuana admitted to using other drugs such as methamphetamines and cocaine. Doctors encourage to screen. A new way to test for marijuana, youve probably heard of an alcohol breathalyzer. Researchers are working on a device that screens for the chemical in marijuana that gets a person high. The device was accurate about half of the time in a recent round of testing. And they can make improvements, they will send the breathalyzer to Police Departments so officers can use it some time next year. All right, well, you wont get me doing this. Were in the low to mid 60s, except for the 52 in mount pocono, and once we get the sun going down, it will drop into the 50s very quickly and then into the 40s, then some places even into the 30s. So weve seen the 76 wednesday, 77 thursday, the average high 65. Were close to average today, as cold as it feels. Even colder tomorrow, then we jump up for one day on sunday before going back down on monday. Its bright and sunny out there across the entire area. We do have a front to the west, so does not have a whole lot of moisture with it. Not expecting a wet weekend here. This is the trouble, Hurricane Patricia in the eastern pacific, right about to make landfall in mexico and yet they are called hurricanes in the eastern pacific, typhoons in the western pacific. A lot of people get that confused. It is a category 5. If it went to category 6, it would be labeled that. Its got 200 mile an hour winds, 155 miles an hour gets you a cat 5. The pressure, thats the lowest ever recorded, as well. Now as far as the strongest to ever hit land, last year haiyan in the philippines, 195 mile an hour sustained winds, camille in mississippi 190, andrew 167. Right now patricia has 200, so if it continues in its intensity, it will be the most intense on earth to make landfall. Temperatures to the 30s tomorrow night, chilly tomorrow morning and not going to warm up a lot during the day. Dont expect any rain, more clouds in the afternoon, no rain tomorrow evening either for your outdoor activities, but if theres any rain this weekend, heres when its likely to come between about 5 00 and 8 00 a. M. On sunday. If you sleep in on sunday, youll miss the whole thing and even then its not a lot of rain. Look at the temperatures going back up into the 60s. Upper 60s for sunday afternoon. Sunday afternoon may actually turn out to be pretty nice. Clearer, much cooler tonight, 42 for the low philadelphia, 32 north and west. During the day tomorrow, we expect things to start off sunny, then the clouds increase. Kind of chilly with the high of 60 degrees. Thats actually below average. Then we jump up on sunday after an early shower. Again, generally between 5 00 and 8 00 a. M. , then monday is chilly, as is tuesday, and the rain that were seeing in the seven day Late Wednesday and into thursday, that would be from some of the remnants from patricia. And some of the remnants of patricia likely to hit texas over the weekend and cause flooding there, but the storm itself is not tracked right across mexico to go into texas. Really is a monster storm. It is unbelievable. It was a Tropical Storm yesterday. It increased 100 miles an hour in one day. Amazing, amazing. Very. All right, glenn. It was, of course, a long drive back from north carolina, but a happy drive after their major win against the east Carolina Panthers. The team has been on a hot streak really all season and last night certainly kept that going, but now the teams focus is on a mightier opponent, notre dame and the upcoming faceoff on halloween. For student fans, the record so far this season is the talk of campus. Its been very lively. People are really into it. We have the pep rallies, white knight last night, it was really fun. Were so excited because we want to go for the longest ever and were so happy were 70. The Football Team is the best now. Were just really proud of everyone and really excited for next week.
