Some moisture blowing past the aramark building and one of the elements that helps fog to form and we got that this morning. Now down to zero visibility at Atlantic City at the airport. If you have a flight out this morning, there may be delays. Check with your carrier. Georgetown a half a mile visibility and dover has been in and out of the fog so far this morning. Were into cooler temperatures north and west pottstown and allentown back in the 30s and 40s in the i95 corridor and 47 degrees at Philadelphia International. Watch the temperatures climb and that will clear out the fog. Partly sunny, 50 at 9 00 and into the 60s at noontime and climbing. Your hour by hour forecast. First alert traffic reporter katy zachary has your traffic. Behind me a foggy shot. Cherry hill right at route 70 where were seeing fog is an issue on many new jersey roadways and will be over the next hour or so. So, just take it slow. Of course, your low beams will need to be on. A live look at 76 and girard avenue. This camera was of a problemfree stretch of 76, but now were focusing in on a vehicle right now. I dont have control over these cameras, penndot does. The expanse of 76 between the vine street expressway and the blue route looking great. Your drive times in both directions about 14 minutes. Finally, in abington, there is a scene right at old york road and adams avenue. Youre asked to avoid that area by fire crews out there. Lets talk more about that, katy, at 6 02. Breaking news. An Early Morning fire inside a ymca and new information just into nbc 10 about what caused a fire inside their child care facility at the y. Matt delucia is live with this update. What do you know . I spoke to the abington fire marshal and he told me the fire was caused by an air conditioner space heater one of the units that are in the back of the building here and that is what caused the fire. It malfunctioned and the flames started coming out. Heavy smoke coming from the back of the original building. That is the building that you see right here behind us and there is still a lot of Fire Department activity here for the moment. The fire is out. It has been for a little while. The fire started about 4 00 this morning. And what were told right now is that the northbound lanes of route 611 here, old york road still shut done for the moment but im told it should reopen within the next 30 minutes or so. You see they do have that ladder truck up there right now and inspecting the property making sure everything is okay. As for damage, were told that it is mostly smoke and water damage. The damage was contained to the one room that contained that heater and air conditioner. So, that happened in the child care area. And, so, that will be closed for the day. So, no child care at this ymca facility in abington. So, you may want to make other plans if you have kids that come here for day care and right now, at least, they dont know how long it will take to get everything back up and running. Also new from overnight, police say a series of fires at six flags in new jersey looks suspicious. At least five different fires broke out on the property on the theme park in ocean county. Nbc 10 jesse gary is live just outside the theme park in jackson. Jesse, you just spoke with the township police. What are they telling you this morning . Just talked to lieutenant decker. He confirmed authorities are investigating this as a case of arson. The signs were there. If you see last night the secondary set of flames in a wooded area of the great adventure theme park. Youll see they almost make a circle on the ground, but the tree limbs appear to be burning. The initial fire was reported late last night in a utility shed in the safari off road adventure. The roof collapsed before firefighters tapped out the blaze. No reported injuries and park Officials Say the animals are all safe. Ill put one more call into the park Officials Office here and see if anybody made it into work yet and perhaps have little more information before the end of the broadcast and well join you again in 40 minutes. The man was arrested and facing several charges this morning. Happening today, the man accused of abducting a woman in philadelphia will begin his journey back to pennsylvania to face charges today. In just a few hours, the fbi will take custody of Delvin Barnes in virginia. Being held there on charges from a separate kidnapping case. Tomorrow he will appear in a philadelphia court. Barnes faces several kidnapping charges here in philadelphia after Authorities Say he abducted carlesha freelandgaither off a germ germantown street last week. New information this morning on the State Police Barracks in the poconos that was the target of a deadly ambush. The barracks will resume full operation tomorrow. Eric frein is accused of opening fire on two state troopers killing one of them and injuring another. He was captured a 48day manhunt and now his defense attorney claims police tried to keep him away from his client. James sweat said he was hired by freins family on the night of his arrest but police told him he couldnt see the suspect because frein himself didnt ask for the lawyer. A northeast philadelphia man was injured when he tried to stop a burglar from taking his stuff. The man broke in ransacking his home that happened around 6 30 last night. The 49yearold homeowner tackled the burglar who was in the process of stealing jewelry. He fought back hitting the homeowner in the head with a crowbar. This is my neighbor. No. This is unacceptable. The homeowner was treated for injuries to his head, his face and his neck. The burglar got away. Seven new Jersey High SchoolFootball Players accused of hazing their teammates will not be tried as adults. Family court is the appropriate venue for the cases, instead. Last month the Football Program was cancled for the season. Those seven players are charged with crimes ranging from hazing to sexual assault. The teams head coach and four assistant coaches were also suspended. Yesterday the Veterans Affairs department announced the largest overhaul in its history. And you can also see some of the low fog that is parts of the area. This is what cherry hill looked like earlier this morning. The thick fog will not last all day. We will see it disappear. Still plenty of fog in burlington and Atlantic City, zero visibility this morning. Spotty in the dover area and now good visibility there and georgetown half a mile visibility and southern delaware. They have not released his name. They do plan to file charges. We have new information about last years deadly car jacking in the parking lot of a north jersey mall. The owner of the mall at short hills tried to block the release of Surveillance Video that shows the deadly shooting of 30yearold dustin freeland. Freelands widow who was with him that day has filed a wrongful death lawsuit accusing the mall of reducing security to save money. Four men are charged in that deadly carjacking have pleaded not guilty. Attorneys for convicted murder jodi arias has filed a motion to dismiss all charges against her. A forensic expert hired by the defense discovered that thousands of files were deleted from the computer of arias exboyfriend. Most of the files were pornographic. Police have previously testified there was no porn on the computer and prosecutors disputed ariass testimony that she walked in on Travis Alexander viewing porn. Conviced of killing him last year. The jury will decide if shes sentenced to life or in prison or death. The family of joan rivers says theyre outraged after learning the results of an investigation in the comedians death. According to the new York State Health department the clinic where rivers underwent surgery made several errors during the procedure that ultimately led to her death in september. The report says staff failed to notice her deteriorating vital signs. The report does not accuse the clinic of negligence. The clinic says its addressing all the issues raised in the report. Members of a parish in fishtown say the archdiocese of philadelphia is violating church law. Theyre upset because workers began removing sacred items. The archdiocese closed the building last march saying it was in imminent danger of collapse but the church has appealed to the vatican and parishioners say removing sacred items before the appeal is complete feels like a violation. I was angry because i know theyre just pushing ahead and doing things in defiance of the vatican and theyre showing a complete disrespect for the church and its parishioners. The archdiocese says it was the new pastor at the parish who asked them to remove the items whose building is unsafe and might attract thieves. Archdiocese leaders tell nbc 10 that each item will be cataloged and stored in a warehouse at least until a decision is made on that appeal. Zero visibility in Atlantic City and mount holly and toms river and especially thick in new jersey and at times seeing thicker fog in delaware, too. First, a live look at 95 southbound right near exit 4 right near the exit for the Commodore Berry bridge. A disabled vehicle initially we thought it was an accident, but upon further review, a disabled vehicle. Its not blocking any lane any more. Further southbound on i95 an accident that is affecting, it was affecting traffic in the center lane and has since been moved to the shoulder and right when you approach churchmans road. Moving on now and we are updating a situation in abington on old york road and the scene of a fire there at adams avenue and that has since been cleared for about a quarter of a mile was off limits to traffic that has since been reopened and a live report coming up on that soon. A fog an issue for new jersey drivers. Route 73 at jackson road. We have an update from the scene of the fire inside montgomery county. Matt delucia which katy just mentioned it reopened. Tracy, all the fire crews have left and the scene is clear and ill give you a look at the road right now. Both directions are back open and the northbound lanes reopened just within the past 15 minutes or so. We have some video of what the scene looked like not long ago. I have been talking with people out here about what happened. The fire started inside this ymca at old york and adams avenue just after 4 00 this morning. The fire marshal tells me that it was caused by a faulty window unit air conditioner and space heater. There was heavy smoke when firefighters arrived and the fire was contained to one room. The child care room, but there is also smoke and water damage im told throughout this building. I spoke with a representative for the ymca in the past hour. Take a listen. Well, our child care facility will be closed for the day. It will be closed until further notice until we find out the extent of the damage. The rest of the building, as of right now, is open. If anyone wants to come and take a fitness class or use the wellness center, they are more than welcome to do that. The pool area was closed, also, were waiting to find out if that will open today. And back out here live on the scene, again, this is old york road and adams avenue. The ymca. You see the window there, a lot of activity in that part of the building. We see some people in there just trying to clean up this damage. Parts of the building will stay open today. Fairly big complex. People were even in the gym im told as firefighters were out here investigating. Im also told no injuries and no one was in the affected section of the building at the time, but repeating, once again, old york road both directions back open for your morning commute. Live in abington, im matt delucia. New from overnight, a series of fires at six flags in ocean county are being investigated as arson. Crews had to attack five different fires at the theme park. One was in a utility shed at the safari offroad adventure and the others in the woods surrounding it. No one was hurt and all the parks animals are safe. As we celebrate veterans day, the Va Department has announced the biggest overhaul in its history. The goal to make sure veterans get the services that they deserve. The va has been under intense scrutiny over wait times at its hospitals. Checked with hospitals across the region to see where they stand. Chris cato is live in the Digital Operation Center with a look at those numbers. Chris, what did you find . Following that scandal over wait times the va set a goal of 30 days or less for veterans to get their initial appointment to be seen by a primary care doctor. Heres how regional hospitals are doing. That goal is being met at va hospitals in philadelphia and coatesville. In wilmington, they have some work to do here. The average is much higher, 66 days. Wait times for Specialty Care. The highest in this case is at the philadelphia va where theyre waiting 55 days for an appointment there for Specialty Care and 36 days in wilmington and 29 in coatesville. Veterans are waiting for months and months to get a response on their disability claims. According to pennsylvania senator bob casey, pennsylvania has one of the longest wait times in the country. 266 days for a response. He addressed this problem before Veterans Group in West Philadelphia yesterday and said more needs to be done to fix the backlog. We do this not just to make a system work better, we do this to fulfill, to fulfill a promise that this government that our country has made to our veterans. Now, senator casey is sponsoring a bill to address that backlog. It calls on regional offices to improve their practices. A Police Officer pulled from a burning car is telling nbc 10 exactly what happened during that ordeal. Officer mark kinsy was pulled from his car moments after he crashed. He was rescued by joe chambers a ridley park volunteer firefighter. He cant remember much because he blacked out after the impact and suffered a concussion, but what he does know is that he is grateful that chambers was there. Oh, hes my hero. By far. Because, i mean, if he wouldnt have pulled me out of that car, i would still be sitting in it. I owe him a steak dinner or something because i owe him big. Moments before the accident, the officer was responding to a call with his lights and sirens on. Chambers isnt the only hero, were told Donte Johnson helped drag the officers to safety. Today the u. S. Is ebola free and later today dr. Craig spencer will be released from a new york City Hospital after being declared free of the ebola virus and making him the last patient in the u. S. With the disease. Doctor spencer returned last month from west africa after working there for doctors without borders. He was monitoring his own health when he came down with a fever. He was criticized for using Public Transit and going to Public Places like a bowling alley. And part of his treatment, he received a plasma transfusion from another ebola survivor. Our area bridges for the most part look good, but we are dealing with a lot of fog for drivers in new jersey. There are some issues on 95 southbound approaching churchman Road Accident and there was an accident in the center lane and since moved to the shoulder and not tying anything up there. Average speeds on 95 southbound and northbound right Near Center City really slowed over the last half hour. Its down to 19 miles an hour was your average speed. And then finally the newest accident into our system, this is in Concord Township route 202 at smithbridge road. Thank you, katy. Four new special license plates that recognize veterans which bring the total number of plates honoring veterans to 34, including the medal of honor and Operation Enduring freedom. In the Nations Capital on this veterans day preparations are under way for a number of events there and since the president is in china, Vice President joe biden will take his place in Arlington National cemetery. Happening tonight, a Chester County community will debate whether alcohol should be sold at a local sports complex. The United SportsTraining Center wants permission to serve beer. State Police Say Two people have died after crashing on icy roads there. Troopers also responded to nearly 500 crashes and 700 spinouts.
