We have an overturned car on kelly drive right now. Its on the westbound side so kelly drive is closed at sedgley drive with crews responding to that. So you want to stick to mlk drive or the schuylkill expressway to get around that. On the schuylkill expressway things are improving. Take a look here at the westbound side near gladwyne. We have a multivehicle car crash blocking the righthand lane. But now it moved to the shoulder, so both lanes are getting by. Its not causing too many delays out there. As we take a look throughout the area, we are seeing some of that wet weather. That is what bill was talking about. And youre going to see that as you head out on your morning commute. Some wet weather, some limited visibility, just take it easy because there are slick spots on the road out there. Volume already starting to pick up on interstate 95 on the southbound side. And take a look at the drive times right now, 14 minutes on 95 southbound from woodhaven road to the vine street expressway giving green lights on 76 and 422. Thank you. We are following breaking news right out of Montgomery County where firefighters are on the scene of a fire in cheltenham. Katy zachry just gone on the scene. What have you seen and what can you tell us . Reporter we pulled as close as we could to the house fire because theres a large hose next to us extending to the scene. And you can looking at the back of the ladder truck, but the ladder is extended to the second floor of this home. This fire broke out along wister drive near thornberry drive. Heavy vir was showing when they first arrived. Formally, the family who lives inside did get out unharmed. Now this neighborhood sits behind the Cheltenham Mall to give you an idea of the location. Peco was here and they turned off power just to the house because of the fire. So fortunately power is not out for other homes along this stretch, they are not affected by the power outage. The fire marshall is on the scene looking into the cause of the fire now. Over the next few minutes well try to get closer to the scene with a better picture and hopefully ill be able to ascertain in terms of investigation and cause of the fire what they are looking at right now. We have been following the fiery exchanges between Council Members for months now. Matt delucia is live in colwyn. Matt, what is the mayor saying about what happened last night . He said every time the leaders try to get back on track, someone tries to shut it down. Yes, we have fighting once again and well show you what happened in that meeting. If you want the keys get a cop reporter you can see right there the fighting began when a vote was brought up to fire the borough code enforcer. After that, the president tried to adjourn the meeting. Well, before there was a vote on that motion, the remaining Council Members decided to hold their own meeting voting to fire the borough manager who was vocal in accusing some Council Members of misappropriating funds. So they fired borough manager paula brown and also installed councilman fred lesher as Council President. Mayor Michael Brown said the whole thing makes him sick. I am sick to my stomach about it because of all the work put into this borough. And now the chiefs fired. You know i hope the state of District Attorney come down and do something about it but im just the mayor. I cant do nothing about it. Reporter we have been fighting this fight for a few months. The Delaware County d. A. s office has been approached several times on the discord and theres currently a grand jury hearing information about colwyn. Its been on and off scattered showers and thunderstorm activity racing past northeast philadelphia, bensalem is seeing thunder and lightning. And pemberton is seeing thunderstorms there. The stronger storms are near the ohio valley and into the deep south. This is the line of storms that has already produced Severe Weather, including tornadoes. And the possibility for us for this afternoon for Severe Weather includes hail and damaging winds. By 11 00 this morning that line is in western pennsylvania. During the afternoon and evening commute, thats following right through the wilmington philadelphia, area and continuing into the evening hours. So a stormy day ahead and potentially dangerous as well. Thats why we have issued a first alert weather day for today. Temperatures will be warming into the 70s, but showers and thunderstorms fueled by that heat will roll through later in the day. Taking a live look right now, interstate 76, this is near gladwyne on the westbound side where we saw an accident taking up the righthand lane. The good news is the accident is cleared out of the way, but theres still an accident with an overturned car on kelly drive on the westbound side shut down at sedgley drive. A number of news organizations cite sources within her camp this morning saying shes going to announce her campaign for the 2016 democratic president ial nomination as early as this weekend. The New York Daily News and a british newspaper are both reporting that clintons announcement will come on sunday. Theres no official comment yet from the clinton campaign. And police in maryland say a man kidnapped his wife and then shot and killed a guard at the u. S. Census bureau building. That led to a police chase and a crash and a shootout with officers. Police say they shot at the suspect in at least two different spots in the city. They eventually rammed his car to stop him and then police and the man got into a shootout. One officer was shot and another was hurt in the crash. The gunman was shot in the chest. He is said to be alive right now and the woman who was kidnapped is okay. And the victims of the 2009 fort hood shooting will all get purple hearts today. The attack left 13 people dead and 32 hurt. Congress changed the criteria for who was eligible for a purple heart so the fort hood victims could be honored. The former major nadal hassan was convicted of 13 counts of murder and sentenced to death. And wait times at the vet van Affairs Clinics are not improving after Congress Gave the department more than 16 billion more to hire more doctors and open new facilities. This morning a look at how our area is shaping up. According to an Associated Press report, more than 18,000 medical appointments were delayed at least a month in pennsylvania. But the vast majority of patients received care within 30 days. In new jersey nearly 6,000 medical appointments were delayed for at least a month. One in 16 appointments were delayed by more than a month. At the vineland clinic alone, that is. And in georgetown Sussex County was among the worst in the country for wait times. The elsmere facility also exceeded the u. S. Average. The Delaware County school is reporting two more cases of whooping cough. Radnor township reported the total of cases there three times this year. Parents need to watch out for symptoms of whooping cough or pertussis that is spread through the area by coughing and sneezing. Symptoms include coughing fits followed by a whooping sound. Children need five days of medication before returning to school. Lawmakers are calling for the state to be in charge of Charter School audits to make sure the taxpayer money is not misused. Right now charters can decide who audits them. Proposed plans show who gives the audits. Many schools are accused of making personal purchases with the School Credit cards. We have seen some showers rolling through philadelphia south philadelphia the ballpark, on and off showers, but there are thunderstorms in the area. And look at the temperatures 39 in reading with rain falling in philadelphia and trenton with temperatures right around 40 degrees right now. At the shore, showers and thunderstorms are offshore. But thunderstorms are a real possibility for much of the area later today. Right now, thunder and lightning, Lower Bucks County moving past bensalem toward hamilton we are seeing heavy downpours with thunder and lightning moving through ocean county and past Burlington County. This is what is on the way for later today. This line of storms that extends into the deep south with a history of creating Severe Weather. Now behind it look how nice and clear it is. Thats our weekend. But before the weekend gets here, well have to deal with the storms. And thats later today. Now well take a live look at the cameras to see the wet conditions we are dealing with. Just watch out for some slick spots along the way. And also some limited visibility as you head out with some of the fog paired with the wet driving conditions. We have seen a pretty busy morning out there. So you may want to watch speeds and take it easy because the wet weather is throughout our area. And if we take a look at our 76 drive times, things are moving along quite nicely right now, especially along the conshohocken curve. Nothing much to slow you between the blue route and the vine with a 13minute drive. And look at this the Associated Press found there were 25 breaches of security at philly international between january 2004 and 2015 to put phl second behind San Francisco for most in the country. There were 268 total Security Breaches at 31 major u. S. Airports during that timeframe. Now the ap says very few of the breaches were publicly reported, however we saw the 2012 incident which a Delaware County man was caught speeding down the runway. Most of these included fence jumpers taking shortcuts. None of them were terror related. A first alert weather day for late this afternoon and this evening. Thats potentially when well see severe storms with damaging wind, hail and heavy downpours roll through the area. The threat will be here later today into the early evening hours. But look what we are starting with.
