Farther to the southwest, very light rainfall now in New Castle County and in Chester County, getting light rainfall, just a few scattered light showers to start with. We will see sunshine later on and the temperatures, well, theyre already warmer this morning, 50s and 60s and no sign of the 30s and most of the area started with yesterday. Clouds and a healthy breeze during the day today after a few scattered showers at 7 00, well see skies start to break at 9 00 and even isolated shower at noontime before we break out into bright sunshine this afternoon. Christine . New from overnight, nearly 100 people are out of their homes after a fire at a Delaware CountyApartment Building. Nbc 10 matt delucia is live at the fire station which is a temporary shelter for neighbors. Matt, what have you learned there . Back into their apartments. Heres what the scene looked like last night, the fire broke out at the Glen Crawford apartments around 10 30 last night. The fire was contained to one apartment, but smoke filled the rest of the building. Now, firefighters tell us three people were taken to the hospital with minor smoke inhalation and no cause has been determined at this point. Residents are expected, though, to be allowed back inside later this morning. Now, a total of 92 people were forced out of their apartments. Most of them found another place to stay, but, again, 21 people staying here at fire station as the Investigation Continues this morning. Live, matt delucia. Heres what else were following. Doctors at Childrens Hospital of philadelphia are monitoring five people with acute muscle weakness. They say its possible the children have enterovirus d68. Theyre testing those patients for that virus. As of now, there are four confirmed cases of enterovirus d68 at c. H. O. P. Mris revealed changes in the spine of the two newest patients. You should wash your hands frequently and disinfect surfaces that your child comes into contact with. With all the publicity over enterovirus and ebola the biggest concern should be the upcoming flu season. Today is the first of three free chances to get a flu shot in philadelphia. Shirley is offering a clinic at her office in north philadelphia. Now, three things you can count on to follow today. The ceo of Cooper Health system and his wife will be remembered at a memorial service. The couple died after a fire was set inside their new jersey home. The couple was found in the burning bedroom of their home in Somerset County last thursday. Still no word yet on who may have set it or if the fire is what caused the couples death. Delaneys father tells nbc 10 his son is being falsely accused. An ocean county man is facing charges after police say he attacked his sons youth football coach. C accused of tackling his sons coach after the game. This happened sunday night on the field at Toms River High School north. Police say he was angry at the coach because the coach threatened to cancel the rest of the season because of the teams bad attitude. He is charged with assault and his son, an eighth grader, has been expelled for the league for allegedly jumping in to help his dad. Its not a good example for our kids to see things like this. No matter what happens on a youth sports field, there is never an excuse for a parent to physically attack a coach. Now, that coach was also kicked out of the league for using profanity in his players after the game. Hundreds of packets of heroin passed around at a day care. This morning a woman from Sussex County after her 4yearold daughter passed out the drug like candy. The girl had 249 baggies of heroin in her backpack when she showed up at the Hickory Tree Child Center in shelbiville yesterday. Her classmates went to the hospital as a precaution, but everyone was okay. The girls mother, ashley toll, was arrested when she showed up at the day care. She gave her daughter the wrong backpack by mistake. To the Philadelphia School bumgt crisis. The federation of teacher will fight the sudden decision to cancel their contract and force them to pay more for their health care in a surprise move that caught many off guard yesterday they terminated the unions contract that will force teachers to start paying 20 to 70 more each pay period. Over all the district says it will put 44 million back into the classroom that principals can use for whatever they need. The teachers we spoke with said if the district gets its way, there will be bigger problems. I think if it goes through and if the courts dont side with us, i do believe that the end of the school year, if not soon, will bring an exit of teachers, i really do. If the move isnt challenged in court, the change will take effect december 15th. But the president of the Teachers Union has made it clear that the union will fight this. For the second time in two months, some educators in Delaware County brought out their picket signs. More than 100 teachers and Staff Members working for the Ridley School district protested outside Ridley High School after a Board Meeting last night. They have been working with a contract since it expired in june. We spoke with the president of the Ridley Education Association who tells us theyve made some progress in contract talks, but the main Sticking Point is the teachers getting preparation time throughout the day. Pennsylvania governor tom corbett says he will support a bill that will give crime victims a way to prevent offenders from causing them mental anguish. An effort launched in response to a Vermont College having convicted killer Mumia Abujamal give a commencement speech sunday. It would give victims the ability to go to court for an injunction against offenders. Abujamal is serving a life sentence for the 1981 shooting death of Philadelphia Police officer faulkner. News from our south jersey bureau. Adults in the garden state will earn High School Degrees from an Online Program being offered at public libraries. That program will be free for the students because of grants from the State Government and through the clinton global initiative. To start off this is open to just 125 people. If youre interested, you need to sign up soon. Students will be screened before theyre allowed in. After they enroll, students will be allowed to do online course work anywhere. Youll have up to 18 months to complete that course work, though youre expected to take eight months to complete. From our delaware bureau, planes used by the States International guard will soon be too outdated to fly. The guard has eight c130 aircraft that move people and gear all over the world, but starting into the year 2020, International Aviation standards will change. Planes will be required to automatically track and rotate their own positioning. But buying new planes is expensive, so theyll upgrade them, instead. The guard tells nbc 10 it will take a year to upgrade the planes. A different kind of alarm may wake up some of you this morning near smyrna, kent county. The Delaware Emergency Management Agency and state police will test the sirens. So, if you hear sirens going off between 9 00 and 11 00 this morning, dont panic, its just a test.
