New from overnight, an 8yearold boy was taken to the hospital after a house fire in north philadelphia. The fire broke out at a home on north 18th street around 2 00 this morning. The crews tell us that the boy breathed in too much smoke. He was taken to the hospital. No word on his condition. Investigators are still looking for the cause of the fire. In Ocean County Police are looking for the person who stabbed someone inside a restaurant. This happened at a place called elwatakanyo. The victim was stabbed inside the restaurant. Its not clear how badly the victim is hurt. Extreme punishment or what . A philadelphia woman will face a judge after police say she locked her four kids inside a basement for 12 hours. Matt delucia joins us live. Some of the womans neighbors still cant believe what shes accused of doing, right . Reporter yeah thats right, chris. That mother was questioned here at special victims last night. Right now this is all believed to have been because one of the kids stealing money according to neighbors. They say they saw this woman come out of the house yesterday yelling, i dont raise thieves. Now nbc 10 was here at special victims last night. We could see the children playing in the lobby here. Apparently doing well after police say they had been locked in that basement for 12 hours. This happened on east atlantic street in kensington. Four children here two boys two girls, ages 9 to 13. One happened to have a cell phone and dialed 911 to call police. Firefighters got to the house, they had to break through a second floor window to get in and get the children out. Neighbors we spoke with yes, they were taken by surprise. I started crying. I was i was like what type of person does this to their kids . Thats not even a type of punishment that you do. Just a kind lady. Shes a very disciplined mom and really honestly were all really shocked. You know, this doesnt seem like something that she would do. Reporter that mother now is likely to face several criminal charges, including endangering the welfare of a child. Happening today, five people charged with abusing five Young Children face a pretrial hearing. The abuse happened in darby. The adults punched, beat sexually abused the children. At 5 03 we have new information in the shooting of a Philadelphia Police officer that happened last week. Authorities say the suspect in that shooting, this man, 35yearold William Nobblen was arraigned last night. Hes charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault and other charges. He was being investigated for possible drug charges. Officer kostick was hit in the arm but he was able to return fire injuring nobblen. He was taken into plus custody saturday night. Now to new video from nepals capital kathmandu where the death toll has pasted 3700. More than 6500 people are hurt. This is more new video of a Chinese Rescue Team pulling a survivor from the rubble. Also today, 57 members of an elite search and rescue team from Southern California will arrive in kathmandu to help find more survivors. Here we have another avalanche. It just happened right now. After shocks triggered more avalanches in the himalayas. Earlier they recovered the bodies of 17 climbers who died when boulders and ice chunks fell during that avalanche. This doctor from the United States is from new jersey. She died during the avalanche. Her team was at the camp at 21,000 feet when the quake struck. Family, friends, local leaders gathered at the Historic African Episcopal Church of thomas to remember james stuhlman. Police say he was walking his dog along wood crest avenue in overbrook when some teenage boy shot and killed him. Three teenagers are facing charges in stuhlmans murder. They shot him while robbing him. 68yearold james sopuck died from a blow to the head. Officers say james sopuck jr. In bucks county, a man accused of breaking into a home and holding a couple at gun point is now in custody after one of the victims turned the table on the robber. According to investigators jules kahle used a hidden key to get into a house in tinicum township. He held them for 20 minutes.
