The temperatures, taking you around the area to show you that right now at Philadelphia International holding at 43 degrees along with northeast philadelphia and wilmington. The pocono mountains are right at the freezing mark, and it is in the 30s at the airport and Atlantic City 38 degrees. Right at the shore, its low 40s this morning. Clouds will break for some sunshine during the day, and that will start the warming process. By lunchtime, well be up to 45 degrees. Good morning to you, bill. We have an accident in abington moreland road and one on the northbound side of the northeast extension as you approach Lehigh Valley, exit 56. So, watch out for lane restrictions there. This is a live look at 76 right near Spring Garden street. You can see its quiet in both directions. Were not reporting any accidents on 76 and certainly no delays. So, that is good news there. 95 even looking good. So is the vine street expressway through center city, philadelphia. And if you have an earlymorning flight maybe, 95 drive times looking great near the airport. You can see about six minutes in both directions between the blue route and naamans road. An update on breaking news were following for you this morning. Nbc 10s jesse gary is live in may fair, where a Police Officer shot and killed a suspect. Jesse, tell us more. Reporter tracy, this on that white Dodge Charger that you see behind me. Thats where the suspect was in that car, and they say theres a gun inside that car. Two officers responded to this call, thinking that this vehicle may have been involved in a robbery, and that precipitated some kind of struggle and then the shooting. One shot fired that killed the suspect. Now, im told that the officers involved in this remember, weve done a series of reports during the year about the 15th district and how residents wanted more officers in this district to help respond to police calls because the district is so large. Im told the two officers involved in this shooting were both new officers, about 30 or so that were brought into this district this year. Im told those two officers were part of that group of 30 and that one of the two fired the one time, killing the suspect. Investigation continues. Were going to try and get some sound with Police Captain george pukes when he has a second and beginning that to you as soon as we can. Jesse gary live in mayfair. Were following breaking news out of australia this morning, where a hostage situation is unfolding in sydney. Now, five people have escaped a cafe where a gunman took a number of hostages at the height of the monday morning rush hour. Were also learning some new details now this morning. The gunman entered the shop and forced people to stand at the window with their hands up. Thats what youre seeing in that video there. Were also told that two hostages were made to hold a black flag with an islamic declaration of faith on it. The first three hostages to escape ran from the cafe about six hours into the ordeal. Two women who appeared to be cafe employees escaped shortly after that. Dozens of armed police, obviously, are on the scene there. I can think of almost nothing more distressing or terrifying than to be caught up in such a situation. Our hearts go out to those people. Now, at this point, police do not believe anyone has been hurt. A lot of Media Outlets reporting that the hostagetaker has made contact with Media Outlets in australia, demanding to talk to Prime Minister tony abbott and also to have an isis flag sent to the cafe, but at this point, authorities have not confirmed that this is related to terrorism. You knew it wasnt going to be pretty, and it was going to be a long night when the eagles fumbled the opening kickoff. I went to bed right after that. Dallas jumped out to a 210 lead. The eagles bat baeld back. Chris polk had two touchdowns, Darren Sproles had another as the eagles rallied to take the lead in the third quarter, but the cowboys were just too much down the stretch. Dez bryant had three touchdowns. The birds lost 3827. And then, to add insult to injury. Have you seen this video . This is another thing thats sort of stinging eagles fans this morning. New jersey governor chris christie, he was spotted during last nights game highfiving and celebrating in a box with cowboys owner jerry jones. This video now has eagles fans criticizing the governor on social media, and some of the most heated tweets i dont know if you saw these go out. Philadelphia councilman jim kenney. In one of the tweets, he said hey, fat blank christie, kiss jerry joness blank in his box in dallas. Not across the river from philly you are just a creep in another, he said, donny jones just flipped you the bird, christie go home. Well actually see the clouds start to move out after a cloudy morning. Well see decreasing clouds during the day. We finally get some sunshine that was missing right on through the weekend. Tomorrow, though, the clouds return and we are tracking some rain that will affect parts of the area, but not everybodys going to see the rain tomorrow. 32 degrees in the pocono mountains. Thats the cold air. Everybody else is dealing with readings in the 40s. Not bad at all. 40 in trenton. Dovers at 42 degrees with clouds hanging in there. Thats a cold front that is going to be moving in first to st. Louis this morning with rain and through the midwest. And by tomorrow morning at this time, it will be approaching western pennsylvania. So, its going to be moving our way, but the next chance of showers will be arriving tomorrow afternoon. But you wont see it today. In fact, youll get a few breaks in the clouds. More clouds in the pocono mountains with a high of 39 degrees. Then in allentown, reading and quakertown. Trenton up to 47 degrees this afternoon. Doylestown and mt. Holly at 46. Northeast philadelphia warms to 48 degrees. And right along the coast, the clouds break to partly sunny skies, which means middle 40s for cape may, Atlantic City. Rehoboth will top out at 47 degrees, while dover warms to 48 degrees this afternoon. And a cloudy start this morning, but we will get the breaks of sunshine later this morning and then see more sunshine this afternoon. High of 47 degrees in west chester, chester and glassboro will be up to 48 degrees. And through it all, the wind is going to be fairly light. Its a northwesterly wind, which is going to hold us into the upper 40s today. But only 4 to 9 miles an hour during the day today. We will see those winds steady at times out of the northwest, but thats about it. And then, sunshine today, this afternoon we will see clearing skies tonight, which means cold start tomorrow morning. Heading to Montgomery County, we have an accident in abington, moreland road and Huntington Pike. Were also following an accident right now out of germantown. This one is wayne avenue right near salania street. Thats blocked off. So, to get around it, green street is a good option in the meantime. And a check of area bridges. A new case of the mumps in the National Hockey league is causing concern for players and the people around them. Pittsburgh penguins star sidney crosby, look at this, showed those telltale symptoms of a swollen, chipmunklike face this past week. Hes been sidelined after testing positive for mumps. Crosby at least one of a dozen players from five teams who have come down with that highly contagious disease. Flyers general manager ron hexall says he is concerned for his players and the team is taking extra precautions. Buildings and wash your hands and vaccines and Everything Else you can do. Today, sony is planning a town hall meeting with employees as other movie studios make major changes to defend against a similar attack. Now to the casino crisis in Atlantic City. Today is the deadline to save the trump taj mahal. The owners of that struggling casino says its main Workers Union backed out of a deal that would have kept the casino open and save ed 3,000 jobs. The union has until 5 00 p. M. Today to drop its appeal of a courtordered costcutting move that cuts Workers Pension plans. The taj is set to close december 20th and become the fifth of Atlantic Citys 12 casinos to shut down this year. Trump plaza, showboat and the Atlantic Club have all closed since january. Happening today, former philadelphia sportscaster Don Tollefson is expected to find out his sentence for a charity scam. Tollefson is set to be sentenced in a bucks county courtroom this afternoon. He pleaded guilty back in october to stealing hundreds of thousands of dollars. Prosecutors say he sold tickets to sports packages with the promise that the money would go to charity, but pocketed the cash instead. Tollefson claims hes been battling addiction for four decades. He could spend more than 30 years behind bars. And this afternoon, the former treasurer of a Chester County volunteer fire house is expected in court for a preliminary hearing. Prosecutors say howard smith iii stole more than 300,000 from the westwood fire company. He served the fire house for four decades alongside his dad, but once he became treasurer in 2007, thats when prosecutors say that he began skimming the funds for his personal use. 4 49 now. A new report says lax enforcement of traffic laws in philadelphia means more dangerous drivers are on the road. The Philadelphia Inquirer reports that police cite far fewer drivers than they did 15 years ago. It says there were more than 118,000 arrest warrants and a third of those for serious offenses. Police commissioner Charles Ramsey acknowledges his focus has been on violent crime, but he says drivers with outstanding warrants must be arrested. The Cheltenham School district will hold a meeting tonight to update parents on the plight of the moldplagued middle school. Crews found the mold there in the beginning of 2013. The district closed the Montgomery County school last december after efforts to remove the mold failed. Students moved to schools in cheltenham and springfield townships in march. You can see the clouds in the pocono mountains. No sign of any wet weather today and im not expecting it today. Tomorrow a different story, however. 43 degrees right now in northeast philadelphia. Philadelphia international and wilmington is at 43. A couple spots in the 30s. Quakertown and doylestown, and in new jersey, its Atlantic City at the airport thats dropped to 38 degrees, while the rest of the region is in the 40s. So, not a bad start at all this morning. The clouds are still here. They were with us all weekend long. Theyll break this afternoon, but that will return tomorrow. That is rain that is going to be pushing into the area. During the day tomorrow, we could see some rain showers, but going to take some time to move in. By this evening, its moving into the ohio valley. By this time tomorrow morning, western pennsylvania gets some rainfall. And then during the morning hours, well be dry, but into the afternoon, a chance of some rain showers, especially north and west. Thats 4 00 tomorrow afternoon. For today, you will see clouds to start with but discretiecrea clouds this afternoon and temperatures in the 40s later today. And we will see nice, clear skies tonight, so it will be dropping down into the 30s by tomorrow morning, and sunshine will be fading as the day goes on tomorrow. And clouds .
