Randy gyllenhaal is live at the scene. How are the children doing . Reporter denise, theyre relatively fine with special victims detectives. 13yearold boy and three girls aged 9, 10 and 12 years old. Firefighters had to climb up to the second story. See the open window there and how they gained access into this house. They went down to the basement and found the four children locked inside. Now police with telling us that the kids are okay. Theyve been down in the basement since yesterday. Almost 24 hours. Police think they were ug deliberately locked inside. Detectives are looking for their mother. Police say the kids did have access to a cell phone and how they dialed 911 and got help and firefighters went into the house. Neighbors here watching as the kids were taken out of the basement. When they came out of the house, they all ran right into the policeman. Seemed like they were they were like covering their face and everything and a little embarrassed and scared. I was like what type of person does this to their kids . Thats not a type of punishment that you do. Reporter now, neighbors tell us theyd never noticed any problems inside the house. And the kids mom usually loving and attentive. No charges filed yet by philadelphia police. But again, detectives are hoping to find that mother and talk to her. Were live in kensington. The devastation in nepal. Crews are working to find survivors. More than 2,500 people are confirmed dead. Strong aftershocks sparked new fears, among the survivors. Thousands slept outside their homes and hotels over concerns that more buildings could collapse. These organizations are now rushing in to help to the tens of thousands who are now hurt. Reporter yes, she does. And its been a very stressful weekend for the woman and her entire family here in colmar and many relatives in nepal and says its been the not knowing in the early hours. I was unable to reach my parents. I call them the line and its not working. Reporter she had no word from her parents, sister and grandmother in kathmandu, nepal. In the hours after the massive earthquake. She called her mother in thailand able to get through. First time i was able to hear my mothers voice. It was desperate. It was like you know i was very worried. Reporter they were unhurt and worried about going back into their homes with the aftershocks. So she says her family has been camping on the lawn and the local nep lease Unit Community is working. Low cost to transport and able to do that then theyll take the blankets at the present times and things like that. Reporter she says she will be meeting with organizations tonight and over the next few days saying if its too costly to ship the supplies from the United States to nepal, they may send the money and have them buy those supplies. A Philadelphia ChurchCommunity Came together this morning to celebrate the life of a man murdered while walking his dog. Family friends and local leaders gathered at the Historic African Episcopal Church in overbook to remember james stuhlman. They planted and blessed a new tree on the grounds in his honor. Police say he was walking his dog last month when some teen boys shot and killed him. Today his brother michael read a poem and said a few words about james. Jims legacy to all of us lives on in our hearts and our minds and the family and friends just by the way that he lived. And thats all that any of us can hope for. Three teens are facing charges in connection to the death. Now a story first on nbc 10. Families at a Montgomery County day care scrambling to get lastminute child care after learning the school suddenly shut its doors. Dozens of families gathered outside the Goddard School hoping to find open spots at other locations and get answers to why the day care closed down. Around 100 families are affected. Teachers were told not to report to work. Parents say finding a new school in just a few days is not enough time and will be a major adjustment for the young children. She loved her friends and teacher. So now well have to start all over again. Its hard when theyre little. My Plan Personally is to just try to find employment. Thats what i do in child care. I love my babies. But trying to be positive and move on from this. The Goddard School shut the doors friday. Parents said they were given no warning. Friends, family and strangers streamed into a baltimore funeral home for his wake. 25yearold died last saturday a week after he suffered a spinal chord injury in police custody.
