Live, im sydney long, nbc 10 news. Aside from that, we have a Tornado Warning just issued for the poconos. This one is for carbon and monroe counties. The actual area there could be tornadic activity is, in fact, through Carbon County at the moment, over lee heighten, 4 of 7 476, one thunderstorm, small in size, but over pariville and this one is moving mostly to the northeast. This is through the poconos it is moving to the northeast. Carbon and monroe counties, both the areas under a Tornado Warning. This is a red box you notice here. The Tornado Warning for both of the areas goes until 6 30 tonight. It is moving mostly to the northeast around 25 miles an hour. As i track this for, zoom out a little bit, adjust the map here, as we track this storm, moving again to the northeast, carbon and monroe counties, crossing 476 now. It is a radarindicated tornado, as of now, dont have a report of a tornado on the ground, there could be one. Meeksville by about 6 29. Long pond by about 6 40. So this again is moving across the poconos, Tornado Warning. Lets take a look at the live radar, north of allentown, if you are in this area, want to north of the poconos, carbon certainly get into a basement, county part of the storm looks get into an interior hallway or like it weakened, Monroe County, closet and you want to stay away northern Monroe County getting from windows. That is the one thing you hit hard. The Tornado Warning expires in definitely want to do. Just a minute or so. Stay away from windows if you are in this area. Let me track this again for you the hail intensity looks like it has gone down and on the as the radar keeps changing here velocity mode, that looks like around keeps adjusting the things have calmed down a little times. Bit, too. As we get closer into the all right, glenn, we will pocono, mer winsburg by about continue to monitor the threat for the rest of the evening. Be sure to keep it right here on nbc 10. Nbc nightly news is right now. 6 28 and tung happen knock by have a good evening. 6 33, this moving to the northeast around 25 miles an hour for carbon and monroe counties. This is a Tornado Warning, it is moving right across 4 76 in hurricane arthur gaining Carbon County and could possibly strength and nearing land fall produce a tornado, if it is not tonight as millions prepare for impact. Plus, the hidden danger all up producing a tornado, seeing conditions favorable for and down the coast this holiday extremely strong winds. Weekend. Now, i will toss it over to nbc startling evidence in the case of a father charged with murder 10 chief meteorologist, glenn after leighing histle boy in hurricane schwartz. This is one of several storms a stifling hot car. Moving into the area. And an epic life. This is the latest track with tom brokaw remembers the this particular cell, 6 50, tobyhanna and the general live american original hero. Radar showing all sorts of the war hero who inspired millions and a movie by angelina storms to the west. This is just one of several. Jolie. We have another cluster in the nightly news begins now. From nbc news World Headquarters in new york, this is nbc nightly news with brian williams. Good evening. Tornado warning up in the poconos goes from lee heighten up to the north and east and that includes just east of jim thorpe and up through the poconos. Now, tornadoes in this part of the country tend not to last very long. So we need to keep monitoring this minute by minute, because sometimes, it doesnt last much longer than five or ten minutes. The Tornado Warning itself goes until 6 30 tonight. You can see those storms. Now, they look like theyre tracking north of allentown and reading. Now, remember, reading got hit really hard yet with flooding and theres some very heavy rain that is moving into that area right now. We have to be concerned about that as well. We have Flash Flood Watches in effect. Is moving in to berks county in farther to the north causing Severe Weather going up to the poconos. Yeah, thats right, glenn. We are watching this Tornado Warning all again, the red box you see on your screen, for carbon and monroe counties, lets look at the computer where we have the radar up at the moment. There we go carbon and monroe counties across 476, where you see some very heavy rainfall as well, see the purple colors, the area where we expect to see at least some rotation inside the storm. Thats the why the Tornado Warning was issued for this area, over 476 near parryville, moving toward the penn forest area, polk as well, general direction to the northeast, again, this is for carbon and Monroe County, just tuning in, a Tornado Warning, i will continue to track this for, as we go through the next about five to ten minutes, its going to continue moving into parts of Monroe County. Pocono pines by about 6 44 this afternoon. We will stay with this storm but coming up, we will take another look at the radar and what else you can expect for the rest of the evening, stay tuned. Tornado warning, i will continue you can expect for the rest of to track this for, as we go the evening, stay tuned. As we have been reporting, first alert weather tracking a Tornado Warning in the poconos. Lets go right took nbc 10 first alert meteorologist, Sheena Parveen who is watching the radar for us. Sheena . This is for carbon and monroe counties. Tow wa men sing, strongest winds with this system. Amensing, stro with this system. Trow wa men sing, you are in the bulls eye of this storm, as we speak. The heaviest rain shown by the pink coloring, we could see winds gusting near 60 to 70 miles an hour, but we are seeing pretty good signature here, which is basically this hook shape that you see. This is where we could be seeing some of the strongest rotation in the storm so tow wa minute sing you are in the path, if you are in this area, get into an interior hallway or closet if you do not have a basement. If you have a basement, get into the basement. Penn forest in the track of this, polk, also in the track of this, and continue moving from Carbon County into Monroe County. It is a Tornado Warning, so, as i loop it again, you can see the general direction is to the northeast. As i track this storm for you, moving about 25 miles an hour. We are gonna see it in the corner by 6 23, long pond by 6 39, pocono pines by about 6 46. Again, this is a radarindicated tornado. We could be seeing enough rotation in this storm to possibly produce a tornado, right over tow wa minute sing. So again, we will be watching this very closely as we go through the next 20 minutes, 15 minutes, i should say. Lets look at velocity. What we are seeing rotation. This general area, where we have basically seen the most rotation inside this storm, look at where red meets green, show the wind directions coming to the radar site and away from the radar site. Essentially, just shows us another tool to see where the most rotation is. This is what we are watching as we see is this Tornado Warning. So again, as we zoom in here, its just to the east of 476, now, towamensing, we could see the strongest wind and rotation. Nearing polk. If you are in any of the areas, get inside. You dont have a basement, get into an interior hallway of closet. Tracking it again to the northeast, going about 25 miles an hour, it will be near polk by about 6 29. It will be near Indian Mountain lake by 6 36. We will continue to see it move into Monroe County. Does not look like its weakening at this point. And because we saw this strong radar signature here, kind of this kidney bean shape, thats where we are seeing the strongest winds most likely. So, this is showing us that it most likely is not weakening. Head over to nbc 10 chief meteorologist, glenn hurricane schwartz. Let me give you an idea of where this is in the bigger picture. In the philadelphia area and even some of the northern suburbs recall not much going on. You see right up in this area, in the poconos, thats one area that is really getting hit hard there, one Tornado Warning, this other cluster that is going into Chester County and have to keep an eye on that because we have the potential obviously for these kind of storms to develop. I know a lot of people want to go to the poconos for hot Holiday Weekend, you might want to wait until these storms pass by because even if the tornado threat passes, these storms are really nasty and tough enough drive going up through the mountains at night, let alone in example, okay . Theres the Tornado Warning area sheena was talking become the warping goes until 6 30 at night. Theres towamensing. Once again, she was showing you the velocity, showing you the winds going toward or away from the radar, given a indication of the circulation. Now, just five minutes ago, i measured the hail based on radar, four inches in diameter, now that that hail shaft is going up toward towamensing and very often, very large hail right ahead of a tornado, you have one of those classic supercells you get in the midwest and the plains. We dont get them all that often around here. But this is a pretty intense cell for this part of the country. Glenn, youre not going anywhere. I know we will have your full forecast coming up and an eye on sheena with the severe storms moving through the poconos area. The threat for severe storms affecting a big welcome america event in philadelphia. Live in the parkway, im doug shimell, nbc 10 news. All right, doug. First, we have to get through this evenings storms. Nbc 10 chief meteorologist, glenn hurricane schwartz monitoring that Tornado Warning as well as other Severe Weather in the area. Glenn, where are the worst of the storms right now . Jim, we have that one cluster up in the poconos and another one approaching Chester County. You can see the cluster, theres allentown and reading. Remember, reading hit hard with flooding yesterday. So they dont need this heavy rain. But this area up through the poconos is training, as we call it going right across the same area, so, not only do you have that tornado threat but a flood threat in the poconos the next few hours. Now, this other cell also looks severe. This is going into Chester County, west caln up here, oxford is in the lower left hand portion of the county. That is going straight through the middle of Chester County a tremendous amount of lightning with that. A Severe Thunderstorm Warning in effect for that particular cell. That will eventually go into montgomery county. Entire area hit by this, talking about it for days actually, some of the storms from the washington, d. C.
