It is an improvement from yesterday. Yesterday we felt those biting winds, so it felt like it was below zero throughout most of the morning. Today, not dealing with those wind speeds. The flags are barely moving but still seeing cold temperatures starting off in the 20s. Heres a look at our first alert weather day, as it goes into effect tonight. Thats all the way until monday morning, because we do expect to see a messy monday morning commute. We also expect smoenow, a wintry mix, freezing rain to move as we head into tonight. Theres a system you can see its on its way, bringing snow to chicago. Scattered showers to cleveland and ohio and as we head into the rest of your sunday we will stay dry throughout the morning, the early afternoon, a few snow showers are possible early evening, before the main brunt of the moisture gets here but that will not be until closer to 11 00 p. M. And after midnight and lingering until your monday morning rush. 26 degrees currently in philadelphia. Mid20s in pottstown. 19 in mt. Pocono. Today temperatures will range between 32 and 35. Nbc 10 was on the scene along spruce street in Ewing Township where the fire broke out inside of a liquor store around 3 45 this morning. The flames spread to a deli next door before fire crews snuffed them out. Nobody was hurt. Also new from overnight in Mercer County one person is hurt after a crash on interstate 295. This happened in the northbound lanes in hamilton township. Authorities say the victim was thrown from the car. Emergency crews took that person to the hospital. No word on a condition. This morning, a south jersey neighborhood is looking for answers after a deadly discovery inside of a womans house. Nbc 10 was on this scene in mt. Holly yesterday, where police say a woman walked into her house on washington street and found a man and a woman dead. She then called 911. We spoke to a neighbor who told us what she saw at the scene. They brought the young man out. He had on boxer shorts and he was full of blood. And that was it. And they put him in the ambulance, in the handcuffs. Authorities say they are not releasing details right now, but they tell us that a killer is not on the loose. Coming up at 6 30 this morning, we will have more reaction from the neighborhood. Health workers say he flew to new york city on Christmas Day boarded an amtrak train in manhattan last sunday and then rode to upstate new york. Officials are now warning anyone who may have been exposed to be aware of symptoms like fever, runny nose and a rash. If you cannot get vaccinated or if you choose not to there are other ways to stay safe. Wash hands, dont touch your eyes, nose mouth, and you kind of just have to be careful where you go. If youre on a subway on a train, and someone next to you is coughing, its very likely you could get it if youre not immunized. Its highly contagious. Officials are trying to find out if this latest measles case is linked to an outbreak in new york city this time last year. Tuberculosis is the problem in charlotte, vermont. Seven children and an adult at a school there have tested positive for tb. Health Officials Say the patients will be treated with an antibiotic. They are expected to be okay. Other adults and kids at the school will be tested as a precaution. Tuberculosis, by the way, is an airborne bacterial disease that affects the lungs. All right. Now lets talk a little bit of weather. The town of heniker, New Hampshire, theyre going to have a tough time clearing the snow after a fire wipes out most of its snowplows. Flames destroyed five dump trucks used as plows like this one. The fire started in the engine of one of the trucks that was being stored in a garage. The town is down to two pickup trucks and a front end loader. This is a real problem, because theyre still digging out from last weeks blizzard and there is more snow on the way for New Hampshire tomorrow. Good morning. As we head into the rest of your sunday i am tracking snow and rain but it wont be until we head into the afternoon and into the evening. A first alert day goes into effect tonight at 7 00 p. M. Lasting until monday morning, because we expect to see a messy monday morning commute. A live look outside right now, a few clouds, 26 degrees, the air is calm. The feelslike temperature is at 26. A big improvement from what it felt like yesterday. Heres a closer look at the big system thats heading our way. Its bringing snow right now to omaha, chicago, and starting to bring more rain here to st. Louis and also into memphis. This is a very large system that will continue to move closer to us as we head into the rest of today. We even could see a few little snow flurries right in Lancaster County within the next hour or so but even as we push into your 2 00 hour your early afternoon, a few snow showers as well. These are going to be shortlived and this is going to be ahead of the system that will get here heading into our overnight hours. So by 5 00 6 00 again, a little bit of light snow. This is just a teaser for whats to come. We are going to see that mainly confined to the Lehigh Valley and also into the poconos. Now, by 10 00 p. M. As youre probably leaving some of your super bowl parties, thats when well start to see slick roads, because some of this light snow and even a wintry mix is going to move into parts of philadelphia stretching out to Lancaster County just to the south of allentown. So you do want to be careful, depending on where youre going to be tonight, if youre going to be driving somewhere closer to 10 00 p. M. Just watch out for this system thats going to move in. Its going to be heavier as we head into our overnight hours. You can see, well start off a a little bit of light snow wintry mix, but its switching over to rainfall. It will mostly stay rain as we head into the overnight hours. Still dealing with wet conditions. By your commute time tomorrow and even by 11 00 a. M. Were still dealing with lingering showers in south jersey and lingering into the shore. By our precipitation type with this system is mainly going to be snowfall for the Lehigh Valley into the poconos, i95 corridor well start off with light snow. Then a wintry mix and switching over to rain. If you live closer to south jersey and along the shore, mainly rain with this system. Heres your snow forecast 3 to 6 inches and possibly higher amounts for the poconos. 3 to 6 for the south of the allentown, the Lehigh Valley area. 1 to 3 if youre closer to pottstown, norristown and also westchester, so well start off with the snow at first, but for most of these areas, we are going to see that switching over to more of a mix and rain. Its going to be hard to get any type of snowfall accumulation. Less than 2 inches for the i95 corridor, than if youre closer to south jersey to be on the safe side well go with a trace to an inch and a coating right along the shore. Here are your impacts, light snow going to move in 7 00 to 10 00 p. M. Overnight, well see that intensity picking up. Icy spots are possible for your morning commute. Late snow and rain expected. Our temperatures will range between 32 and 35 degrees, and then as we head into the rest of your workweek we are going to see those temperatures dropping right back down again on tuesday, down to 26 degrees. By wednesday, back up to 40 and then again, our temperatures drop with another cold blast on friday, but we definitely have to get through tonight, heading into tomorrow morning, with a messy monday morning commute. Go reporter youve heard of a retractable roof . This is a retractable field. A turf surface that usually lives outside the stadium. It allows the field to be maintained out there in the bright heat of the arizona sun. Reporter but before game time the grass makes its move on a kind of tray. The only one like it in the country. In a game of inches thats how the field rolls in. A little at a time until 19 Million Pounds of turf is under the dome and under the close watch of groundskeepers. Really from every point here on, it goes down a notch spop. So we have to really start rubbing on it and paying attention to it. Reporter 92,000 square feet of grass meticulously maintained and babied until the big day. Field crews are actually brushing each blade of grass. In the Atlantic City casino crisis the sale of the former revel casino is on hold while the company that ran its nightclub appealed. The federal judge ruled that revel had until tuesday to respond to the appeal. The nightclub and other tenants argue they could be wiped out if the sale goes through. New this morning, a defense Attorney Says he is considering a Mental Health defense for a North Hampton county man charged with killing his stepdaughter. Gregory graf waived a preliminary hearing on friday. His attorney plans to seek a Mental Health evaluation for his client although the lawyer says he is unaware of prior problems. According to the district attorney, graf admitted to shooting his stepdaughter Jessica Padgett in november. Prosecutors also accuse graf of videotaping himself sexually abusing padgetts corpse before hiding the body on his Allen Township property. Almost three years after Whitney Houston was found dead in a hotel bathtub, her daughter went to the hospital under similar circumstances. Bobbi Kristina Brown is being treated at an atlanta area hospital after her husband and a friend found her unresponsive in a bathtub. Police say brown was given cpr and was alive when she was taken to the hospital. Today, new Jersey Governor Chris Christie will begin a threeday trip to great britain. Our humidity is at 58 . The air is calm, so the feelslike temperature is closer to 26. 25 in allentown, 23 in westchester, 20 in Atlantic City. 27 in stone harbor and 19 degrees in dover. So its still a cold start, not quite as bad as what we saw yesterday with those bitter wind speeds. But if we take a closer look at the satellite radar shot this is the large system that is heading our way. This is going to move in into our overnight hours. But first, were already seeing is a few little snow showers moving into parts of Lancaster County. This little first batch is going to be short lived. Well even see another round closer to 5 00 or 6 00. First at 2 00 so a few light snow showers, and closer to 6 00, another round, and thats going to be mainly confined to the Lehigh Valley and into the poconos. This is ahead of the main system. I dont want you to get caught off guard if you see a few snow flurries moving in. The main system starts to push in closer to 10 00, 11 00. If youre staying out late with super bowl parties, as youre heading home you want to be careful. Youll start to see this system pushing into our area. Youll notice it mainly switches over to rainfall, as we head into our overnight hours. Any snow accumulation will probably be right at the beginning of the system and right at the back end. Mainly rainfall as we head into the overnight hours, and its still going to lead to slick roads by the time you go to work on monday morning. The best chance is to see mainly snowfall if you live closer to the Lehigh Valley into the poconos. If youre right along the i95 corridor and into our suburbs, were going to start off with light snow then see more of a wintry mix, then mainly rainfall. Its going to continue to change as we head into our overnight hours, and its going to depend on where you live. If you live in south jersey closer to the shore, mainly rain with this system. So snowfall totals 3 to 6 inches are possible, and the poconos, and the same for the Lehigh Valley area. Some of our suburbs could see 1 to 3 inches when that first batch of snow moves in but then its going to switch over the rainfall. And then well see along this i95 corridor less than 2 inches.
