New from overnight, violent encounters with philadelphia police. Officers shot two men at two different crime scenes. The first incident happened along grays avenue. A short time later, officers shot a man in overbrook. Nbc 10s katy zachry is there live as Police Continue to investigate. What are Police Telling you about what happened . Interestingly they are talking to us about one of the shootings but the other one theyre being tight lipped about. That is where we are right now, this scene of the second shooting and it is a deadly shooting, happening around 1 00 this here at the intersection of 63 Railroad Street and overbrook avenue. Were being told from investigators that police fired several shots at a man. He was killed. Were still trying to determine why the shooting started. There is also a mini van here at the scene that they are looking into. We are trying again to gather information about why that mini van is playing a role in this investigation. Lets show you video of the first shooting that happened overnight. We do know in this earlier police shooting, this one section of the city, 53 railroad and grays avenue that an armed man fired at officers from a back porch. Heres how it happened. As they approached the male, they tell the male to drop the weapon. That male aims, fires one shot at police, misses and one of the officers fires two times back and shoots the male in the leg. One of those two shots that was fired at the suspect hit both of his legs. He is right now listed in stable condition. There was another man inside that house in the grays ferry philadelphia. They are waiting to get a search warrant and they going into the home, look for the weapon that was used and any other evidence in that shooting. Well stay on scene here. Police just opened up the intersection. We have been reaching out to some chief inspectors who were on scene trying to get more c information. The National Transportation safety board says a short circuit in the metro system caused thick smoke to fill a stranded train, killing one passenger and injuring dozens of others in january of 2015. They were setting up yesterday when we were going in there. Its all set up now for the start on this conference later on today. We have about 12,500 people in town. It might not seem a lot but for the craft Brewing Community it is the largest conference as you mention in america. And right over here it will be help at the conventionc center throughout the rest of the week. About ten years ago, consider this, the conference was here in philadelphia, only 1,500 people showed up. This business, the craft beer culture, if you will, has grown a lot in recent years. The expo is tfl tself is not op the public. We want to know how much business craft beer brings to our area. Some 4,400 jobs in pennsylvania we have enthusiasm, a lot of new breweries opening. The Brewers Association also came up with a statistic that 57 of adults 21 and older live within ten miles of a brewery. This is big business. About 600 breweries opened last year. Thats about two a day. I spoke with one of the founders of one of the largest breweries in our area about why the interest has taken off and why it is so big in our area.
