Area bridges, still losing one lane heading into philadelphia on the ben franklin bridge. Chris. New from overnight, emergency crews had to take an 8yearold boy to the hospital after a house fire. It happened at a home on north 18th street just before 2 00 this morning. Firefighters had control of the fire in less than an hour. The boy breathed in too much smoke. No word yet on his condition. Investigators are still looking for a cause of the fire. Also new from overnight, police are looking for two men who robbed a man inside his home. It happened after 11 00 p. M. On the 56 block of haggerman street in philadelphia. They pulled a knife on him outside his home and robbed him inside. Just before midnight at a place called elwatacanyo on lake wood. The suspect came into the business, stabbed the victim and took off. Right now its not clear how badly the victim was hurt. Extreme punishment or Something Else . A philadelphia woman will soon face a judge after police say she locked her four kids in the basement for 12 hours over the weekend. Nbc 10s matt delucia joins us live from the special victims unit. Matt police say the children were put in the basement as punishment by this mom, right . Reporter thats right, chris. Right now its believed that it was punishment for one of the kids stealing money. Now its their mother who is in trouble with the law. Nbc 10 was here where they could see the children playing in the lobby after police say they had been locked in a basement for 12 hours. This happened with four children in all, two boys and two girls, ages 9 to 13. One of them happened to have a cell phone that only dialed 911. That is how they told police. When firefighters got to the house they had to break through a second floor window to get in and get their mother out. Their mother spent time at svu being questioned. She faces charges including endangering welfare of the child. As of last night temporary custody was being worked out. They could be released to family members but they wont be going home with the mother at least not for the time being. Live in hunting park im matt delucia. Theres a pretrial proceeding for five people who were charged with abusing five young children. That abuse police say happened in a house in darby. All five victims under the age of 12. Prosecutors say the adults punched, beat, sexually abused those children. We have new information this morning in the shooting much a Philadelphia Police officer that happened last week. Authorities say the suspect in that shooting this man, 35yearold William Nobblen was arraigned in court last night. Hes officially charged with attempted murder and aggravated assault. He was being investigated for a drug crime when he fired at officer kostick. He injured nobblen when he returned fire. In the past five minutes we learned that the death toll again has gone up in nepal following saturdays devastating earthquake. Just minutes ago there officials increased the number of deaths to more than 3600. 3600. More than 6500 people are injured in that magnitude 7. 8 quake. Rescue workers are having trouble getting to the mountain villages following more than 100 after shocks. Today an elite search and rescue team will arrive in nepal. They will help try to find people buried under the rubble from saturdays quake. The after shocks triggered more avalanches in the himalayas. This was at the mt. Everest base camp. Earlier they recovered the bodies of 17 climbers when boulders and ice crashed around their camp. Nbc 10s Tracy Davidson is live with more on u. S. The quack has people in our area worried about relatives caught in the disaster zone. This womans parents, sister and grandmother all live in kathmandu. She managed to get in touch with them and found out they are safe. For hours she didnt know if they survived. Youre like youre here and you dont know how they are. You dont know whats going on. In bucks county a man accused of breaking into a home and holding a couple at gun point is now in custody after one of the victims turned the tables on the robber. According to investigators jules kahle used a hidden key to get into the house. He then hend a man and woman hostage for 20 minutes before leaving with cash credit cards and food. As he left one of the victims grabbed his own gun and confronted kahle in the driveway and held him there until police arrived. It weighs about a ton and is 26 feet wide. Heres the thing, the crew was traveling in a wooden boat when the man at that ray got tangled in some of their nets. The man at that ray was injured. Its not clear if it will survive. In new York City Police captured a coyote that was on the logs over the weekend. Heres Surveillance Video that shows officers cornering that animal at an outdoor cafe. They tranquilized it and took it to the aspca. Four coyotes have been spotted. A pennsylvania driver made a bold move as a car came speeding towards him on the side of the road. Next the daring leap he made that may have saved his life.
