How about taking a look at some of the leaves down in new england should be fantastic youll see beautiful beautiful colors in most areas of course not all areas are colorful but the color is so much better than in recent years thats for sure getting a lot of reports from people and c around the region. Already a little past peak in the northern mountains. Looking at peak colors coming down here into massachusetts in the north and western suburbs some beautiful color showing up already. Youre wearing the purple. Yeah so purple is definitely the in color this color this month it is the representation of Domestic Violence awareness. Please understand that its to heighten awareness on this issue. 1 in every 4 women are affect by the this issue during the month of october folks, agencies, shelters, representatives advocates try to heighten awareness of victims and survivors try to heighten the awareness around this so folks can become more aware and in ways that they can help. Well, i understand that 92 of women massachusetts alone here in massachusetts have experienced some form of number. So one of the initiatives that we took upon ourselves was starting to brown bag lunches and care packages so that we could go out and distribute to women that may be affect by the this epidemic. And we dont ask, a lot of women we come in contact with end up sharing their stories. We just wrapped up our fall initiative this past monday and we were out there and one woman started to talk about abuser was set to be released and she wasnt sure where she was going to go because he knows exactly where she stays at the homeless shelter but shes not safe there. And youre right and so you know, shes afraid that the restraining order wouldnt kick in. And thats where we offered resources for her to be able to go and find Emergency Shelter elsewhere from where shes staying right now. Yeah, yeah. Its a huge huge number, and again, we dont know whos going dont know whos being affected by it because people are afraid to speak up. You would know with about that. Yeah. Because you yourself were a victim of Domestic Violence. A survivor, absolutely. You have come up with the love love foundation. Tell us about the foundation. This is a Success Story you were in the shoes of a lot of women that are probably watching us right now. One of the reasons Initiative Came about is because at one point during my abusive relationship i left my home to be homeless with him. It was that sort of bonnie and clyde attitude. And i decided i would rather leave and live in his car rather than you know stick it out with my family. So i became isolated over the course of the relationship and was homes with going into a month. So i understand not wanting to go to family and say, hey, this is what im going through out of shame. Yes. Really out of shame, being looked down upon, being blamed. It doesnt mean that thats how things are. Exactly. Its how you feel. It is exactly how a lot of people feel. And a lot of women end up on the street because of that. Lovef many years later. I decided that after the year with those titles i really wanted to continue this work. Now, here we are 6 years later im so excited. Lets talk about the good things. This is your 7 annual drive. Yes. How can people help . What is it that you need . So over the course of a week we pick a week in october to heighten awareness, once again its all about awareness where folks can donate a new twin our Events Benefits a shelter.
