Families creating together is a multigenerational arts program in boston started in 2008 with the a mission of children with disabilities. You started to basically serve children with with children with disabilities. Its for everyone who wants to use the program. Welcoming for everyone. What can you tell us about it, how exactly does it work . The main goal is to keep the Families Together by having them spend time together and yes. The idea is to bring families to communicate through our child regardless if the child has a disability or is deaf. All of the programs are presented in spanish, english that is really good. Talk to us about the times and i understand its actually offered in jamaica plains area, are you including other people outside the i cant make ka plains area. The program is based in jamaica plains, its a free program. We are actually looking at pictures right now of the families. You can see how much fun they are having being creative with their children, what can you tell us, have you been growing year after year . When you say contribute, you say they can become volunteers, they can do monetary donations in order for the program to continue to grow, you actually have to pay these great artists, actually, that you bring to the program. These are really true artists that are actually working with the families, correct . Yes. All of the programs have experienced teaching artists as well as speech latters, every teen of the program has an artist with a disability as a role model for all part aunts. That is great talk to us about the fact that recently you had workshops offered this we did a series of workshops on holiday traditions which was full to capacity. The idea was to create original cards for different holidays. Ornaments, wrapping paper, clay work. And the program was full. So, we had 26 participants. Well obviously we can see its a great program, do you have a lot of latinos part of the program. Many. Because jamaica plains there are a lot of latinos living there, its very diverse. We have a very large latino population, it is one of the largest populations. And we have some african americans, but mostly lateen toe participants. Yes. We also make sure that we are reflecting the diversity of the families in our staffing. So that the role models are people from their own communities in which the participants live in. What i like about this program its very inclusive, which is, i mean obviously you started with a gel but you are the community and that is what is good about the program i think, and makes it extra special.
