Commuters here. Theyre buckling in for a 12th day where theyre asked to remain highly vigilant on this busy stretch of i10. Authorities asking them to Pay Attention for anything suspicious on the side of the road and even other drivers. They havent ruled out the fact that the shooting could be coming from a moving vehicle. This morning, authorities investigating yet another shooting along one of arizonas most heavily traveled freeways. Police say the rear window of this truck was shattered wednesday afternoon in broad daylight by what the driver believes may have been a bb gun. Authorities linking this to a surge of shootings all along this highway, now ten reported incidents in the last 12 days. Im a big target. It does kind of concern me a little bit. Reporter every shooting happening along this short eightmile stretch of road, cars hit on both the east and westbound lanes at all hours of the day. One incident damaging a tour bus. In mother shooting a 13yearold girl was injured. These are bad people trying to do harm to good people. Reporter police desperately trying to figure out who is responsible. Do you guys have the manpower to handle something of this magnitude . We do not have the staffing alone to do that and thats why at the Phoenix Police department, atf, fbi and tempe police department. Reporter at the arizona Traffic Operation these cameras monitored 24 7 and have 19 cameras dedicated to the area happening. But this footage is never recorded which means they cant go back and review it. Now, with commuters terrified, some are choosing to avoid the highway entirely. Its pretty scary to think that somebody could be shooting and my daughter could be in the car. Reporter authorities have put up these tip signs. Theyve been up all week. Look how they changed. They read i10 shooter with a number that people can call if they see anything suspicious, george, remember, authorities consider this an act of domestic terrorism. That is alarming. Homes knocked off their foundations, tropical downpours creating a wall of water. 100,000 are evacuated. Many more still trapped and ginger, rescuers cant keep up with the calls for help. Its an ongoing situation north of tokyo, japan. Dangerous landslide, water still rising thank to the remnants of a Tropical Storm. Serious concern about a Nuclear Power plant in the flood zone. Disaster in japan this morning. North of tokyo, more than 20 inches of rain falling in just 24 hours. Rivers overflowing, breaching levees leading to scenes like this. Helicopters in overdrive rescuing people from windows and roofs. Japanese meteorologists warning of this imminent and serious danger, evacuating nearly 100,000 homes. The culprit to the chaos, remnants of what was a Tropical Storm slicing across the island nation, winds gusting up to 80 miles per hour. Torrential downpours forcing major runoff raising concerns about the fukushima power plant still damaged from the 2011 earthquake. Reports that these heavy rains may overwhelm the sites drainage pumps. And its too early to put an exact figure on how many might be missing. That crippled plane behind me is being treated like a 200footlong piece of evidence, Police Cruisers surrounding it now and know investigators are on the ground. Theyre going to take a look at that engine. But also at that video we obtained showing the terrifying moment that fire began. This morning, the exclusive look into that terrifying engine fire from inside the cabin. Flight 2276 from las vegas to london is in the middle of takeoff doing 90 down the runway when it jolts. We started to take off and we just heard this big boom. Reporter then swerved. Even as black smoke billowed, flight attendants urging calm. Ladies and gentlemen, please remain seated. Reporter flames began leading into the air. They saw flames on the left side and smoke on the right side. I was in the middle and i was like, weve got to get off this plane like i grabbed him. Reporter as the frantic rush for the exits began. The captain was like get to your seats now then he goes to the back and sees the flames, evacuate, everybody, evacuate now. Reporter the captain issuing this mayday call. Mayday, mayday. Request fire services. Reporter hurling themselves down slides nearly singed by the heat of the inferno. It was like the gas was coming and seeming and the plane of fire. Reporter on the tarmac. On the tarmac, yeah. Reporter two minutes after that call firefighters arrive to tackle the blaze. That fire within inches of the planes fuel tanks. The biggest threat to the passengers would have been if the fire had breached into the cabin and filled the cabin with smoke as they were trying to get out. It came very, very close. You can see its just below the windows. Reporter passengers bumping into the capitol on the runway. And the captain was fantastic. It was his last flight before he retired so reporter talk about going out with a bang. And the captain got a standing ovation when he got back to the terminal. Now we know hell probably be interviewed by investigators today. told friends and family and passengers that after 42 years as a pilot that is his very last flight. Robin. Very much. This former Police Officer is charged with murder and remains in isolation at the county lockup but theres a chance he could get bail and walk out of this courthouse today. 223 dispatch, shots fired. Reporter this morning were learning how the former Police Officer in this disturbing recording plans to defend himself in court in the cell phone video seen round the world, Michael Slager is seen shooting an unarmed black man in the back as hes running away. Prosecutors say that walter scott was no danger to himself or the officer. But at his bail hearing today slagers attorneys will show a different video, a few seconds fbi. Its hard to make out here but they say this is scott fighting with slager on the ground before the shooting. But the fbi analysis of the video is a violent physical assault in which clearly on that video mr. Scott obtained the upper hand. Reporter scotts grieving family and their lawyers still say what happened on the tape was an execution. What would you make you have that much hate in your heart toward another human being to do brother . Slagers lawyers plan to share toxicology reports that they say shows that scott was drinking and using drugs before the incident but the amounts are either below the legal limit or not enough to make anyone crazy. Reporter this morning, james blake one of the worlds most legendary tennis players speaking out after being detained by police. The 35yearold harvard educated player says he was tackled and thrown to the ground by a plainclothed officer outside new york citys Grand Hyatt Hotel and handcuffed for 15 minutes. It shouldnt have happened and its something that well deal with with the police and find out what they have to say internally and, you know, hopefully theres video of it and people can see what happened. Reporter blake once ranked number four in the world suffered cuts to his left elbow and bruises to his right knee. New york citys Police Commissioner bill bratton says they are investigating the matter. Just the nature of what he described is not what we do. Not what were supposed to do. We will aggressively address it. I will not tolerate any type of excessive use of force. Reporter bratton said one of the officers was placed on modified assignment after watching surveillance video. I know that you were reluctant to do this but you think its a very important story and that theres a bigger story here. First of all, were you injured at all . How are you . Im shaken up. A couple bumps and bruises but all right. What exactly happened . Its broad daylight in front of the hotel waiting to be transported out to flushing for the open and then what happened . Yeah, it was really shocking. I was standing there just waiting and i saw someone coming from the street running directly at me and as naive as i am i thought it was maybe i didnt recognize a High School Friend to mess with me and give ee a bear hug and turned out quickly that is wasnt. He picked me up and body slammed me and put me on the ground and told me to turn over and shut my mouth and put the cuffs on me and i told him the first words out of my mouth were im going to 100 cooperate. I dont want any incident, just out of reaction from what ive seen in the media i dont want any miscommunication. You were communicating this with him as you were of my mouth. Ill cooperate. I dont know what happened but i will cooperate with you and he put the cuffs on me. At no time did he let me know he was a Police Officer. He put the cuffs on me and said stand up and i asked what was going on he said well tell you soon. That was it. So you didnt resist at all. No. You were no, i feel lucky i didnt. Because im happy that my reaction was i was smiling at the person because i could see how if i put my airports up or did anything it could be a sign of showing some sort of resistance and instead of having a little bruise on my leg i might have broken bone organization actual injuries because it didnt seem like he was slowing down and he was going to continue that tackle. Plainclothes Police Officer. Tshirt and shorts. He never identified himself. Didnt have a badge in any way showing, not around his neck, not on his belt, anything. The Police Officers that walked up later i saw a couple badges on bells but none were really displayed and no one identified themselves. I did didnt get one name out of anyone. And when how long were you held like that . What were you talking to them and telling them and asking them . I was held for about 15 minutes and about five or ten minutes in i admitted i said, look, officer im scared. So if i Say Something wrong im sorry but i want to know whats going on. I think you have the wrong person and i had my credential for the u. S. Open in my back pocket. I said, please, check that. You can tell im a former player. Its the final eight badge. It means i did well at the u. S. Open. Id hike to clear my name and just i told him that and he wasnt having it. He said well see. Were running your license. Youre running my license . The worst youll find is a speeding ticket. Thats the most trouble ive been in. You never been in trouble and as we said you were reluctant to come forward. You just wanted to put this behind you. Why did you change your mind . Well, it was immediately after it happened i was just i didnt want to talk to anyone about it. I was so shaken up i just didnt want to hear anything or talk to anyone and i immediately talked to my wife. She was the first i talked to and she said, you know, what if this happened to me . And immediately i was fuhr use because i thought about what i would be thinking if someone did that to my wife. If someone tackled her in broad daylight paraded her around in a busy crowded sidewalk in new york city with handcuffs with her cuffed behind her back and taking away her dignity and i just i couldnt accept that and i know that a lot of people have no voice to have any recourse and im lucky enough to have the opportunity to be sitting here with you to be able to tell this story and let meme know this happens too often and most times its not to someone like me but someone that has no way no resources to get their story out like this and you really believe this was a case of excessive force. Youre not making about racial profiling. You feel it was use of excessive force. Yeah, and i probably wouldnt even be so clear, be so indignance if it wasnt so obvious. It was so blatant. I was standing there doing nothing, not running, not resisting, in fact, smiling. If the video ever does come to the media, you can see that im smiling. And just minutes earlier a reporter happened to be walking by and recognized me and asked a few questions. The Police Officer could have easily asked and said can i see your license. Have the police reached out to you since . They say theyve been trying to contact you. No, i havent heard anything but i mean id be surprised if they were making that concerted of an effort since ive been contacted by a lot of media sources who found my number. What do you want from them. Id like an apology. An explanation for how they conducted themselves because i think we all need to be held account football or our actions and police as well. Theyre out there going a very difficult job and i seen said that during the 15 minutes, i know youre doing a tough job and i respect that, i appreciate everything you do to keep us safe but i think you have the wrong person here and they didnt want to hear it. Didnt want to listen to that and i do think most cops are doing a great job of keeping us safe but when you police with reckless abandon you need to be held accountable and i think im hopefully going to let people know that some of them need to be held accountable and these that are doing police work the wrong way need to pay for those actions and be shown either the door or whatever retribution punish them.
