Were learning more this morning about the young couple deadliest shooting spree in years. Fieafter wednesdays massacre at a Health Services clinic in Southern California, the two were armed to the teeth with more than 1600 rounds of ammo on them, and 4500 more bullets at home. Dozens of those rounds fired from four guns that were legally purchased in california. Meanwhile, authorities have identified the 14 people gunned down including one man originally from new jersey. Eyewitness News Reporter n. J. Burkett begins our coverage live in San Bernardino. Good morning n. J. Reporter and ken, good morning. You know, overnight authorities shipped cell phones and hard drives to the fbis famed laboratories in quantico virginia hoping to identify collaborators and perhaps to confirm a motive. That will not be easy because pieces. The suspect attempted to destroy all of that in order to cover up their tracks. A vigil mourned the victims as authorities looked for the two rifles used in the massacre by syed farook. Hurt, pain, disappointment, disbelief. Investigators say farook had reached out on social media to extremists who were already under fbi surveillance. The question now is was farook radicalized and was he in contact with any Foreign Terrorist Organization and how did he convince his new wife to stand at his side and pull the trigger. The 14 People Killed have all been identified and a check of hospitals raised the number of wounded to 21. One survivor says he was knocked back by a bullet smashing straight through a restroom wall. It was like a bomb went off. I turned back and looked at the mirror. I can see im bloody here, here and here. Two brothers who attended the same mosque as farook say he was a devout muslim who showed up to pray every day three weeks before the attack. Police who broke down the door to farooks home found an arsenal of terror. These search photos were released last night after police found a bomb factory with hundreds of tools, 12 unexploded pipe bombs and more than 5,000 rounds of ammunition. Clearly they were equipped and they could have continued to do another attack. We intercepted them before that happened. Finding possible collaborators now will be tougher because the couple drive. The Digital Media is incredibly important because we are trying to determine a motive. Reporter authorities are under no illusions that piecing together those files may be extremely difficult. The shooting in california is having a Ripple Effect across the country as loved ones mourn People Killed. Two of the victims have area. 52yearold Nicholas Thalasinos was working at the San Bernardino department of health after moving from Southern California from south jersey. He worked for the Cape May County Health Department before moving west. His wife says when she said goodbye to him wednesday morning she did not realize it would be for the last time. I actually got an extra hug and a kiss before he left, so Im Just Holding on to that. Im just grateful for that. And new york giants safety learning his cousin was one of the victims in the shooting, just got word that one of my cousins was among the 14 killed yesterday. Im so sick right now. He followed up a tweet reading the true terror is that this keeps happening. I still cant believe it. Take a moment to think of the families hurting right now. Among those also killed was michael wetzel, a married father of six children. His wife is a stay at home mom. One friend says now not only has she lost her husband but also the sole provider for their family. Just hours after the massacre, the u. S. Senate voted against expanding the background checks for gun buyers. The vote was 5047. It means gun buyers will face a background check only when they the proposed law had tried to expand that to inbound all gun purchases online and at gun shows. Police are searching for the driver involved in a deadly hit and run that happened in nassau county. This happening just after 9 00 last night on marric road. The victim was crossing the street when he was hit by a car going eastbound. The driver kept on going. The victim sadly died at the scene. 6 07. New details on a deadly triple shooting. A 39yearold man shot and killed the mother of his two children and her new boyfriend before turning the gun on himself. Its the most read story on our news app right now. Eyewitness News Reporter kala rama live at kings county hospital. Reporter ken, good morning. The worry this morning is about these kids. Mother, killed her boyfriend, then took his own life all in front of them. Meanwhile, that mom is here at the hospital in stable condition. Were told shes going to survive. Surveillance video captured the kids 33yearold mother walking with her 44yearold boyfriend into their corner bodega. Weve learned the suspect and his former longtime girlfriend were meeting to hand off the kids to one another, but instead, police say the suspect turned enraged shooting the boyfriend in the head killing him and shooting his ex in the upper body all while their two kids they had together, an 11 yearold boy and 6yearold girl watched in horror. Police say the suspects brought those kids to the corner of 91st and clarkson to watch the violence unfold before he took his own life in front of them. Apparently there was a Domestic Violence issue which related to somewhat of a triangle where theres a boyfriend and a young lady and another man involved. I got a call that he was in a shooting, my brother was in a those kids an 11yearold boy and 6yearold girl are now in the care of family. They will get the help they need. Police say the men are behind three Jewelry Store robberies. Investigators say the county met his victim through a craigslist post. 19yearold dylan lantini is accused of the stabbing death of 66yearold michael wimbert. Lantini had been living in the same apartment for several days after answering wimberts craigslist post. He had been living in a manhattan homeless shelter until last week. A grand jury is expected to consider this case today. Time is 6 15. Federal prosecutors threatened to strip Sheldon Silver of his pension. Silver was convicted of construction after serving 40 years as an assemblyman. Despite the federal moves against him the state constitution says he cant lose his pension. We learned overnight that the former lead singer of top 90s band Stone Temple Pilots has tide. The body of Scott Weiland was reportedly found on a tour bus in minnesota last night. He was scheduled to play with his current band in suburban minneapolis. Right now theres no word on how he died. Weiland had a history of drug and alcohol abuse. 6 25. Actor Charlie Sheen is now facing a lawsuit from his ex fiancee who says the two had sex several times before sheen told her he was hiv positive. This accident has proven to be on the throgs neck bridge. If youre traveling from queens into the bronx this morning at the throgs neck bridge n is what youve got in front of you. Its a twocar accident with a fuel spill. As we noted the tow truck has arrived. One of the vehicles has been cleared from the scene. The second one still up against the divider. Only the right lane is open. Remember theres a fuel spill here which also needs to be cleared up. We saw on the commuter alert maps that heather showed you big delays here coming up the cross island parkway. Moving the big delay is on the clear view expressway northbound. Its a standstill delay from northern boulevard up to the bridge. What you want to do, especially if youre in a commercial vehicle or in a tractor trailer, swing over to the Whitestone Expressway to get you to the whitestone bridge as an alternate. Syed farook returned to a holiday banquet prepared to kill. In the end he and his wife were gunned down by police as they tried to escape. A motive for the attack is still unclear. The scope of the carnage is only beginning to set in as we learn more from the officer who was the first on the scene of the massacre. But after two days, shock is giving way to grief as this towards healing. There were prayers for the dead last night in a mosque not far from the scene of the massacre. The religious leaders there were tears at a vigil in a nearby baseball stadium, but it all does little to ease the loss inflicted on so many here. Reporter while the deadly shooting in california has once again ignited the gun control debate for politicians across the country, a local sheriff is now telling his citizens to arm themselves when they leave home. Ulster county sheriff Paul Van Blarcum posted this message within 24 hours of the San Bernardino attacks. Hes urging the residents with permits to carry guns in public to protect themselves and others. Blarcum says if he was there hed want to know people were armed. Im just reminding them that they are licensed and if theyre comfortable, theyre responsible enough and theyre, you know, have the training and theyre familiar with the laws of the state of new york im encouraging them to exercise that right and carry a firearm. Breaking news overseas, more than a dozen people are dead after an attack at a nightclub in egypt. It happened early this morning in cairo. Video just in to the Eyewitness News room smoke pouring out of the first floor of the building. Officials are searching for two young men who threw molotov cocktails into the club after being denied entry. In the last hour we learned that 16 people were killed and three others hurt. Investigators remain on the scene. Authorities say a deadly building explosion in brooklyn was not caused by an accidental gas leak as previously suspected. The fdny says Francis Figueroa a tenant poured gasoline in the stairwell of the building. Investigators say thats what figueroa was on the verge of getting evicted. Figueroa and another tenant were killed in the blast. 6 38, and police are searching for the man accused of a biased attack on the streets of brooklyn. This Surveillance Video showing the man police want to find. Police say that he punched a 42 yearold man in the head while yelling antiwhite statements. It happened early wednesday morning at the corner of berry street and division avenue in williamsburg. The suspect then ran into the Roberta Clemente Housing Development across the street. Police hope new video will help them find a suspect wanted for a bias attack on the Upper West Side. New this morning, the search is on for the person who stabbed a wellknown new York City Police released these summers photos of the suspect accused of attacking 58yearold david henry wang. It happened just before 9 00 sunday night on South Portland avenue in fort green. Wang who is known for his Tony Award Winning play m butterfly was carrying groceries home at the time. Reporter shirleen, ken, the real worry this morning is about these kids who have clearly gone through a traumatic situation watching their father shoot their mother and also kill her new boyfriend on a very crowded street yesterday. Police say a 39yearold man shot the mother of his two children and her new boyfriend during a planned custodial exchange of their kids at a corner bodega. Surveillance video caught the violence unfold ass suspect shoots the kids mom in the upper body and shoots her 44 the suspect went back to the car where the two children were waiting and turned the gun on himself and took his own life. Now those kids, again ages 11 and 6 are being cared for by family members. Meanwhile their mother is in stable condition here.
