gridlock alert today. leave the car at home. thank you heather. 4:32, and we begin with breaking news overseas, at least a dozen people are dead after an attack at a nightclub in egypt. it happened early this morning in cairo. officials say three men on a motorcycle threw molotov cocktails into the club killing 12 people and injuring five more. the fire was put out, and investigators are now on the scene. time is 4:32. now the deadly mass shooting in california. more details are surfacing as the fbi investigates the couple accused of killing 14 people and wounding 21 others. >> we're also learning new abc's lauren lister is in san bernardino with the update. >> this morning we're learning more about the victims of this deadly mass shooting and about the two suspects killed in a shootout with police. authorities still searching for the motive trying to figure out what would drive a young couple with an infant to allegedly carry out this attack. >> the sights and sounds of grieving on display in this southern california community grappling with the loss of 14 lives. as we learn more about the suspects who abruptly took them in wednesday's shooting ram pain. >> they were equipped and they could have continued to do another attack. >> 12 unexploded bombs found in the young couple's home along with thousands of rounds of ammunition. one neighbor said his wife had become suspicious. >> she had noticed that they had been receiving packages, quite a few packages within a short amount of time and they were actually doing a lot of >> the fbi is now treating the investigation of syed farook and his pakistani born wife -- their names all confirmed by the medical examiner. ryan reyes lost his partner daniel kaufman. >> the world will suffer from having one last person like him. >> michael wetzel is survived by a family reeling with the loss of a father, husband, and breadwinner. >> they are very overwhelmed. there are six kids that have lost their father. >> jennifer thalisinos now clings to her last embrace with husband nicholas. >> i got an extra hug and kiss when he left. >> authorities tell abc news the fbi is looking for connections between farook and two individuals here in the in cad radicalizing him or in planning the attack. ken and shirleen back to you. 4:35. we have been learning more about the victims. police have released the names of all four victims and we're getting a better sense of who they were, nine men, five women. the youngest 26, the oldest 60. almost all of them were county workers. they included a father of six and a mother of three who fled religious persecution in iran. nicholas thalisinos was a worker at the san bernardino department of health. he was born in work. he was just 52. the shooting rampage sparked a renewed debate about gun control in america. while some people are calling for tougher legislation one local county sheriff wants more people to embrace their right to carry their guns. eyewitness news reporter dray clark joins us now in the >> while the deadly shooting in california has once again ignited the gun control debate for politicians across the country, a local sheriff is telling his citizens to arm themselves when they leave home. ulster county sheriff paul facebook. he's urging the residents with permits to carry their guns in and others. the sheriff says the post comes in light of the attacks in the u.s. and the terror attacks in paris saying if he was there he'd want to know people were armed. >> i'm just reminding them that they are licensed and if they're comfortable, responsible enough and they have the training and they're familiar with the laws of the state of new york i'm encouraging them to exercise that right and carry a firearm. >> and when asked about retaliation. now to horrific story out of brooklyn, a mother and her boyfriend shot in front of the woman's two children. police say the man who pulled the trigger was the children's father. eyewitness news reporter kala rama is live with an update for us. >> this story is as hard to hear as it is to tell, horrific story here out of brooklyn. the kid's mother is doing okay this morning. we're told she will make it. it's these kids who have been through a traumatic situation here watching their own father shoot their mother, then kill her boyfriend and turn the gun on himself. the kids 33-year-old mom walking with her 43-year-old boyfriend into the corner bodega. the suspect and his former long- time girlfriend were meeting to hand off the kids to one another. instead, the suspect turn enraged shooting the boyfriend in the head killing him and shooting his ex in the upper body all while their two kids ages 11 and 6 watched in horror. police say the suspects brought those kids to the corner of 91st and clarkson to watch the violence unfold before he took his own life. >> apparently there was a domestic violence issue which related to somewhat of a triangle where there's a boyfriend and a young lady and another man involved. going to shoot, my brother was in a shooting. >> those kids an 11-year-old boy and 6-year-old girl are now in the care of family. their mom is in stable condition this morning. we're told she will survive. we're live in brooklyn outside kings county hospital, kala rama channel 7 eyewitness news. thank you. police hope new video will help them find a suspect wanted for a bias attack on the upper west side. officers say this man went inside the west side on broadway and shouted threatening anti-semitic remarks. he pumped a 15 a 2 to be looking at temperatures today even warmer than they were a year ago. we have a big el nino going on across the united states and across over to europe. the temperatures are spiked up warmer this down as we get into the center. saturday we're looking at 52 and the high goes down into the atlantic. the winds come around from the south and there's nothing to come along and do anything. the through a chick- fil-a drive through in tucson. the car wound up on its side after smacking into three other vehicles at a mall. the crash caused some delays but no one was seriously hurt. time is 4:48. in new jersey are still awarting answers this morning following a foiled bomb plot. five students are suspected of planning to set off a bomb at clifton high. it was thwarted when teachers discovered the plan. the students have been released to their parents. other parents say they weren't alerted to the plot until yesterday. comedian jon stewart made a return to washington to plead the case of 9/11 workers. stewart was on capitol hill urging lawmakers to provide money for those workers, health care. stewart wanted to meet with ohio senator rob portman but was routed to portman's chief of staff. >> we just can't figure out why we have to drag guys hundreds of times down to washington who are suffering from cancers to plead their case when our country should have taken care of them in the first place. >> advocates hope to get lawmakers to approve funding before they leave for their one vote hurts two of president obama's major health causes, senate republicans have approved a bill that destroys the so-called obamacare and wipes out funding for planned parenthood. the house is expected to follow suit in a few days. the president has promised to veto. the port authority will have more cash rolling in this weekend. good for them. that means they're raising your tolls. the hikes take effect on sunday at the lincoln and holland tunnels, the george washington, bayonne, and goethals bridges and outer bridge crossing. az pass rates will go up $0.75. cash tolls will go up a dollar. e-z pass customers will pay $10.50 during offpeak hours and 12.50 during peak hours. little light wind right there out of the north to the northeast coming in today that is kind of heading on out. a little northwest wind there this morning. we are looking at temperatures that are warmer than normal for this hour of the day. 38 around new city to 31 morristown. 44 around the park. a little bit of wind. there's that wind kind of northwest to west, here's showing up southwest searching for this man saying that he is the suspect in bias attack in brooklyn. this man punched a 42-year-old man in the head while yelling antiwhite statements. the suspect then ran into the roberta clemente housing development across the street. a second person is being questioned in an attack on a former resident of a city-run homeless shelter. katori washington is the mother charged with assault. katora says they were defending themselves while being attacked by the alleged victim and her boyfriend. she says a photo shows the injuries she suffered when she was punched in the eye. >> i'm here to turn myself in just to get justice because i was assaulted. i was the one that got punched in the eye. no one else got injured. it was just me. >> that is a very different story than that of the alleged victim. she says video shows shelter workers screaming at her when she went there to retrieve her belongings, and she says the attack was unprovoked. 4:56. hoop dreams came true in new jersey for a budding basketball player who survived a life saving double lung transplant. 12-year-old josh hernandez suited up with his teammates at st. patrick school in chatham. it was his first game since his transplant surgery in may. this time last year josh could barely walk the halls of the school let alone play >> i'm really happy to be back with my friends and playing basketball this season. i feel great. >> josh has spent the last two years in a battle for his life, so these boys and this school, st. patricks school have rally around josh and his family. >> what a cool story. josh since he was very young has suffered from a series of serious lung conditions. when he turned 12 he became eligible to be placed on the transplant list for adult lungs. >> what an adorable kid. about the investigation into that deadly mass shooting in california including the search for the person who purchased two rifles used in the attack. >> community members are banding together in grief killed in a mass shooting in southern california. >> investigators are focusing on the suspects and the arsenal recovered at the scene of the shootout with police. the fbi says a suspected gunman syed farook legally bought two handguns that were recovered by police. now they are trying to find the person who bought two rifles also found at the scene to determine if they were purchased legally or if they were stolen. >> eyewitness news reporter dray clark is here with the latest details on the investigation. good morning dray. initially some believed the shooting might have been a reaction to a workplace dispute, but investigators say it now appears to go much deeper than that. investigators say syed farook clearly planned extensively for the attack and now the fbi has to determine if it was an act of terror, and if farook has more accomplices. >> a vigil mourning the victims as authorities look for the man who purchased the two rifles used in the massacre by syed farook. >> hurt, pain, disappointment, disbelief. >> investigators say farook had reached out on social media to extremists who are under fbi scrutiny. the question now is was farook really calized, and was he in contact with foreign terrorists organizations and how did he convince his new wife to stand and kill by his side. the 14 people killed have all been identified and want hospital raised the number of wounded to 21. knocked back by a bullet smashing straight through a restroom wall. >> it was like a bomb went off, and i turned back and looked at the mirror. i can see that i'm bloody here, here, and here. >> two brothers who attended the same mosque as farook says he was a devout muslim who showed up to pray every day before he abruptly stopped three weeks before the attack. police who broke down the door to farook's home found an arsenal of terror. these search photos were released last night after police found a bomb factory with hundreds of tools, 12 unexploded pipe bombs and more than 5,000 rounds of ammunition. >> clearly they were equipped and they could have continued to do another attack. we intercepted them before that happened. >> finding possible collaborators now will be tougher because the couple destroyed their computer hard drive. >> the digital media is incredibly important because we are trying to determine the with the couple having so many weapons and so much fire power inside their home, they could have been planning more attacks. the investigation into what happened certainly is very far from over. shirleen. >> that is the truth. thank you dray. >> the rampage in california is having a ripple effect across the country as loved ones mourn the lives of the 14 people killed. two of the victims have personal connections to our area. 52-year-old nicholas that will see -- his wife says when she said goodbye to him wednesday morning she had no idea it would be the last time. >> i actually got an extra hug and a kiss before he left so i'm just holding on to that. >> new york giant's stacy before urhay tweeted just got word that one of my cousins was one of the 14 killed yesterday. i am so sick right now. hours after the massacre the u.s. senate voted against expanding the background checks for gun buyers. the vote was 50 to 47. it means gun buyers will face a background check only when they buy from a licensed gun dealer. the proposed law had tried to expand that to include all gun purchases online and at gun shows. time is 5:06 this morning, a brooklyn woman is recovering in the hospital after police say that she was shot by the father of her children. authorities say the man ambushed the woman and her current boyfriend killing that man before turning the gun on himself. this all happened in front of their children. kala rama is live in east flatbush with the latest on the woman's condition. >> this morning we know that the kids' mom is in stable condition here at kings county, that's the one good thing out of this. the worry really is about these kids ages 11 and 6 years old saw their father shoot their mother, kill her boyfriend, then turn the gun on himself. the whole thing was caught on surveillance camera here. take a suspected. the fdny says francis figueroa a tenant poured gasoline in the stairwell of the building in borough park. that's what triggered the explosion last month. figueroa who was on the verge of died. the body of scott weiland was found on a tour bus overnight. right now there is no word on how he died. weiland did have a long history of drug and alcohol abuse. scott weiland was just 48 years eastern spur, here's the exit for route 3 just south lincoln tunnel. again, this involves a trooper. now if you're going on to the goethals bridge, staten island bound, there's construction. mass label menus for sodium. the national restaurant yesterday. the rule requires chain restaurants to put a salt shaker icon on menu items that top the recommended daily limit for sodium. the suit claims facing a lawsuit from his ex- fiancee who says the two had sex several times before he told her he was hiv positive. ross says sheen was also physically and emotionally abusive during their relationship. sheen said he would not pay to settle any claims for partners who accuse him of exposing him to hiv when he announced his status last month. the claims are being addressed in private thank you. authorities are uncovering chilling details about the husband and wife accused of opening fire inside a california health care center killing 14 people. investigators recovered two military style rifles, two handguns and thousands of scene of the police shootout where the suspects were killed. the fbi says the suspected gunman syed farook legally bought those handguns but now authorities are looking for a man who bought the two rifles used in the san bernardino attack. it's not known if the man was acting an farook's behalf when he bought the weapons or if they were stolen. community members in southern california are focusing on the lives lost and remembering the victims eyewitness news reporter dray clark joins us with the very latest information. >> reporter: good morning shirleen. reality is still setting in for so many people mourning the loss of their loved ones and close friends. the nails of those killed have been released. the youngest shooting victim is 26. the oldest 60 years old. >> there were prayers for the dead last night in a mosque not far from the scene of the massacre. the religious leaders there condemned the attack, and there were tears at a vigil in a nearby baseball stadium, but it does little to ease the loss for the wife of new jersey native nicholas thalasinos there is the memory of a final hug and kiss good-bye. >> i got an extra hug and a kiss before he left so i'm just holing on to that. i'm just grateful for that. >> he was a good person. i loved my father, i always will. >> giants safety nat berhe tweeted his cousin was killed in the loss. and michael wetzel, the father of six children. >> there are six kids that have lost their father and renee is a stay at home mom so they have also lost all their financial support. >> the first officer on the scene says the sight of so many dead and panicked people was surreal. >> it was unspeakable, the carnage that we were seeing, the number of people who were injured and unfortunately already dead and the pure panic individuals that were still in need and needing to be safe. >> so many lives lost, so many good-bye services being planned, and the one question mourners very nice chrysler building. as we look out here toward flushing we're looking at clear skies, and you can see the plains starting to take -- planes starting around laguardia. the west wind at 6 and the pressure rising 30.33. that's really strong high pressure that will be with us all weekend long. blocks out everything else. yesterday's high was right after midnight at 55, and then yesterday we hung around in the low 50s. we're at 42 now riverdale, murray hills 43. 39 belmar, 36 monticello. these numbers although they're chilly, they are above normal for the overnight hours. we've got a little light wind now as opposed to that 30 miles an hour wind we had yesterday. so that's calmed down, and this high pressure ridge which reaches all the way back to the great lakes will slide eastward and give us a lot of sunshine and very nice weather. of the west, and it will feel great today. up to the north will be all the cold air trapped, this high pressure ridge gives us a december delight starting tomorrow at 52 degrees, and it warms to about 56 on sunday. sunny and cool, less wind today, 50, tonight we've got clear skies, 30s in the suburbs, 45 in the five boroughs. saturday plenty of sunshine with a high of 52. here's your accuweather seven- day forecast, sunshine and really nice weather on sunday, 56, 52 monday. we'll be watching a coastal system on tuesday. this system could give us some rain. it may stay offshore, you know, 50 to 100 miles east or west could mean a very rainy tuesday. after that wednesday or thursday temperatures will still be above normal for this time of the year. looking at sunshine and mild temperatures as opposed to last year we were really cold. we're in an el nino year. that allows one year every six years where the temperature spikes up morning at the corner of berry street and division avenue in williamsburg. police say this man punched a 42-year-old man in the head while yelling anti-white statements. the suspect ran into the roberta clemente housing across the street. police say the suspect went inside the west side on broadway and shouted anti- semitic remarks. he punched a 52-year-old worker the suspect took off on a razr scooter. so far no arrests. 5:49. a suspect surrendered to police for questioning in an attack on a former resident of a city-run homeless shelter. that suspect says she is innocent. katoria washington is the mother of tyhera washington shown here who is charged with assault. katoria says they were defending themselves from the alleged victim and her boyfriend. she does not want to show her face but says this photo here shows the injury she suffered when she was punched in the eye. >> i'm here to turn myself in just to get justice because i was assaulted. i was the one that got punched in the eye, no one else got injured. it was just me. >> that's a very different story than that of the alleged victim. she says video shows shelter workers screaming at her when she went there to retrieve her belongings, and she says the attack was unprovoked. 5:50. an iowa couple had a never forget. that after a routine traffic stop turned into a life changing moment. >> jeff schulz was driving to his girlfriend's parents house for dinner when he was pulled over for speeding. things took a turn when schulz was told there was a warrant out for his arrest. he was handcuffed. when the officered ask schulz's girlfriend to take a look at a high priced item he had supposedly stolen. >> set up a time frame when he was going to be at. >> i'm happy i was involved with it and nice to be involved but something they'll remember for the rest of their lives. >> the officer involved in the proposal actually has a history with the couple. he ticketed schulz for real when he was headed to
