Voters right now are wising up after everything theyve been through. Lets take them state by state. First, wisconsin. Scott walker, new Marquette Law School poll shows that, what . Hes leading the democratic challenger mary burke by seven points among likely voters. However, among registered voters if they get out there, it will be a dogfight. Walker leads by one point. So it is about turnout. It seems awful low close for a race where the Republican Governors Association has poured 8 million into walkers staff and where 2 million alone will be spent in the final week of the campaign. Maybe it has something to do with this . We dont have a jobs problem in the state. We have a work problem. What is your position on the minimum wage . Should we have it . Im not going to repeal it, but i dont think it serves a purpose. I was paid the minimum wage when i worked at mcdonalds as a kid. I used to save up in college, and i didnt expect to be my lifetimes work. I guess he did work in the private sector. Michigan Governor Rick Snyder is in trouble. According to the latest ppp polling, snyder is in a dead heat with democratic challenger mark shower tied at 48 . Snyder, always remember, he was at the helm when detroit filed the largest municipal bankruptcy case in United States history. He wasnt there to help detroit and in fact, they turned off the water. Snyder signed right to work legislation and signed education budget it is galore and he also says things like this. Where are we with right to work now . Thats the law of the state and is it showing with any results. Were standing up for hardworking michigan people. They have a choice now. I ask people, sometimes with right to work and if you remember the protests and the signs and the terrible things that will happen have people really seen a major negative impact in their life . No. Well, thats his perspective. Lets go to pennsylvania. The race is all, but over for governor tom corbett who is fighting for his political life here. The latest franklin and marshall poll shows him trailing tom wolf. Corbett will be the first pennsylvania governor to lose reelection since it became legal to run for a second term back in 1974. Gosh, i wonder why . I believe we shouldnt be looking at minimum wage as a life time familysustaining wage and most people on minimum wage are young people. 75 are between the ages of 16 and 24. We should be encouraging them to use that as a means to go find a job. You have not been a friend of education and i would disagree with you. And the 27,000 educators ive not been a friend of the union. So he has not been a friend of the unions. There is a Teachers Union and he hasnt been a friend of Public Education and he has the budgets to prove it and his numbers on mrin mum wage like all republicans, theyre wrong like that and the best business candidate, new quinnipiac poll shows Charlie Crist edging ahead of scott by three points. The trends with independent voters are very strong. Scott somehow managed to forge a political career despite overseeing the largest Medicare Fraud in u. S. History. Now four years later he can barely answer a simple question like this one. Do you support the principle of the minimum wage . Do you support the concept of minimum wage . Sure. What should it be . How would i know . The private sector decides wages. Now does conviction and confidence just pour off this guy when he talks about workers . Get off this idea republican, that minimum wage is a career. It is not. It is the lower end of the economic spectrum of this country, but theyve been at that level for too long. Referring points in that direction. Keep in mind, these governors, the ones we just saw highlighted here, they have a lot in common. They rejected Medicaid Expansion and they led the crusade against boom care and they actively targeted workers rights and voices in the workplace and theyre against equal pay and raising the minimum wage. Listen to what theyve had to say. They have slashed Public Education budgets and theyve supported radical legislation, radical legislation to suppress the votes. Now, the question tonight is if they are reelected are they going to change or is it going to be more of the same . It will be more of the same. No doubt about it and every republican governor thats running for reelection has outspent their democratic opponent. They have the wrong agenda. Theyre not for the folks. Theyre not for the working folks and not for the middle class and theyll attack every entity they possibly can to suppress the vote to make sure they can do what . Stay in power. Culturally, this is what the republicans understand. Theyre not out there to be statesmen, not even on the state level and theyre not out there to be representatives and they are out there to control and they are out there to have power and they know how to use it and if the democrats figure that out that youre not going to get ahead with rope reps out there, that this income divide is going to continue, no republican has a good answer for any of the graphs weve ever shown on the ed show when it comes to income and equality in this country. All you haveio to do is not only listen to what they say, but listen and watch how they act. Get your cell phones out. Here ate question, do you believe these governors will be defeated next tuesday. Text a for yes, text b for no at 67622 and you can go to ed. Msnbc. Com. Joining me president of the United Steelworkers International and also mayor of lansing, michigan, verge bu burnarrow. Good too have you both tonight. Good to be with you. A question for you tonight, leo, you first. If they dont stop now, when will they stop . Can we expect things to go back to normal or is this radical agenda going to continue on . I think the radical agenda will continue on and it may get more radical because we have to look and see who paid their way to get the governors elected and you went through the minimum wage issue and a number of the issues and the fact of the matter is every one of those governors that you mentioned right now has had an attack on women and has had knowa attack on working people and has denied the right to have Medicaid Expansion and one of the things that should really enrage people and how many of those governors have tried to suppress the vote. They want to call it voter i. D. And when you shrink early voting. Its got nothing to do with i. D. When you tell people that i dont know anything about the minimum wage. Look, if the minimum wage is now, unfortunately, the wage that is employing millions of people because the wages have been stagnant for way too many years and if we want to fix the economy one of the things we want to do is deal with income and equality and what you want to do is raise the minimum wage to the living wage. You know, ed, i was in louisville, kentucky, yesterday. I want to Say Something about Mitch Mcconnell. Mitch mcconnell had to get 1. 8 million of his own money to get into his own race and he had to show people to show up at his rallies. We have a chance in kentucky to take Mitch Mcconnell to the wood shed and show them the door. Hes paying people to show up at their rallies to make it look that theyre supporting them . Thats what we were told yesterday in louisville, kentucky and what Allison Grimes has been reporting to people. And so hes in trouble and theyre in trouble, whether youre a governor or whether youre a senator is about continuing to punish people who are in the middle class or would love to get in the middle class. Everything leo gerard is talking about, does this get the attention of voters. Snyder has been as radical as any of them. The republicans are running out of gas and theyre running out of steam and the wind is out of tle sail. The secrets out. The attack on women that leo is talking about, the attack on working people and the attack on unons is an attack on working people and the attack on seniors and people have had it and people now get it. The nerd has been unmasked and he ran as the nerd and nobody knew what he stood for. Mark shower is a great guy, a standup guy with a great record for standing up for working people and thats exactly what were going to get with him as governor. We have a u. S. Senate race thats clearly on the democratic side and terry has imploded the senate race and gary peters will be the next u. S. Senator and he will lead the charge and lon johnson is doing a phenomenal job, turning out the vote and getting people to the polls and the opposite of what the republicans are doing. The Voter Suppression is disgusting and ive put it on my facebook many times and it is unbelievable and unamerican what the republicans are doing and theyre not a shamed and they ought to be ashamed because for years and decades in this country, we rolled that back and we were about getting people back, sdechl democrats and republicans were about deting people to the polls, these actions are despicable and down right, unamerican. This may be one of the last chances to do it. I do worry about revolution in this country if they succeed in stopping people from voting in this country. Its scare. What do you mean about revolution in this country. If they get to the point, im glad you asked. I almost said something i cant say on tv, the bull crap, where theyll have voting by congressional district, and youre talking about gerrymandered districts and disenfranchising people from a president ial election and the republicans are not afraid to play with that kind of fire. Its amazing to me. Leor, has there ever been this big of an effort to turn out the vote in midterms by organized labor . No. What about that . No, i dont think there has been, and its not only organized labor. Its the people that weve just been referring to. Women who are fed up with getting used as pingpong balls by the Republican Party. Its about people from minority communities that are seeing that they marched and they fought and some got beat, some got killed to get the right to vote and they see their vote is being suppress suppressed. They see theres an attack on seniors. Are they going to get the majority and try to privatize Social Security . How would that have looked in september 2008 when wall street collapsed if youre getting your Social Security from the private sector. Lets look at whats happening in schools as corbett has done. We lost 27,000 teachers as a result of corbetts budget cuts in pennsylvania and then youre going to complain that kids arent graduating at a high enough rate . Teachers are the most important people in our society next to our parents who have access to our ikids more than we do. I know youve spent in time in wisconsin and in a john dough investigation involving walkers administration, there have been some emails that have surfaced, for instances, his staff has used some very disparaging language, describing organized labor. One email called an aflcio member the crazies and another referred to union thugs. This is the kind of vernacular thats being used by these staffers that these radical governors surround themselves with. They have no concept about what a union is or what a union does. A union is a voice for the workers whether its teachers or steelworkers or autoworkers or Public Sector workers and the guy who picks up your garbage and the person who plows the road after a snowstorm. Those are the workers. Those arent thugs and those are the people that do thes work every day and were the one tos brought you the middle class and were the ones that brought you the weekend. Im going to be in maine tomorrow and saturday. Im going to portland, maine, because we have a chance to elect a guy as governor who got off the shop floor and worked his way up and got elected to congress and hes coming back to be governor so he can fix the state he grew up in. Workers will work harder than ever and so are women, so are people of color and so are young people who cant afford to go to college good morninanymore and revolution at the ballot box that you need. What both you gentlemen talked about and what i documented at the top of the show here, if theres low voter turnout and if the turnout is not whats needed and its not a good night for the democrats, what does that signal for america, verge . Leo got to the things, ed, that really make up the American Dream. My dad came here from italy and he was able to raise a family of five and to support them. The uaw has done a tremendous job and he was able to support his family and work hard every day and hes still with us at 89 years old. The American Dream is at risk. It is in jeopardy in this country and its all of those people with the attack thats going on and this attack on the American Dream will continue. There is no reason to believe that the republicans will stop. Just when i think they might, they never cease to amaze me with the stuff they come up with. The attacks on the middle class is incredible and the attacks on women with reproductive rights and going after Birth Control. It goes beyond abortion. They want to limit access to healthcare and its unbelievable and the Voter Suppression. I do fear for the future of this country and what we stand for and what we went through and as leo said people died to get the protections in place and theyre being rolled back and in michigan, we are doing it. Mark showers running a phenomenal campaign and hes a great guy and the party is there and all regular folks are there. I believe they will respond. This is the time. This is the hour for people to step forward and vote fur conscience and do the right thing. Vote for the middle class. Vote for your future and vote for the American Dream. I want to go back to ed, can i just go ahead, leo. I want to put it in a my perspective. Im like verge and you, and im worrying about the future. I worry if the republicans get a majority in the senate and the majority in the house and if we dont take out some of the extremist governors what we will see is continued extreme exasperation with the public and well see continually spreading inequality and one other thing to know for sure, you cant have the kind of democracy that america represents when workers cant have a ladder up to the middle class and you deny them the right to vote and im worried as you put it at the start of the show, more extremism and more Division Within the country and democracy will get badly wounded in this fight. Good to have you both of you with us tonight. And appreciate your time on this subject. Remember to answer the question on the bottom of the screen and like us on facebook. We appreciate that and we always want to know what you think, thank you. Coming up, rand paul compares the Republican Partys relationship with africanamericans to bad pizza. Todays top trender, buckeye battle. The citizens of this great state deserve a chief elections officer that believes in expanding and protecting access to the franchise. Nina turner faces an uphill battle for the ohio secretary of state seat. Ive been fati fighting for last few years for the Voting Rights space. Ohio continues to be one of the best states in the nation for voting. We dont need a secretary of state that will go to the Supreme Court of the United States and try to lessen the number of hours that people can vote. You are making it harder for people to participate. I dont believe im running for an office, im running for a cause and the cause is unfettered access to the ballot box. Joining me tonight is ohio state senator nina turner, candidate for ohio secretary of state. Senator, good to have you with us tonight. Thanks, ed. Were coming down to the wire here and there hasnt been a lot of polling in your race and i do want you to give us a sense of where the race is right now. Do you have a chance to win this . I do, ed. I am in a statistical dead heat with mr. Houston and absolutely i have a chance to win and this is about the people power. I was listening to your segment with leo and the president of lansing and everything that they said is so true, everything that you all discussed that this election 2014 is about the heart and soul of the great people of this state and of this nation. It is about the middle class. It is about women and it is about our children, it is about our future and we need folks to come out to vote. There is no such thing as an offyear election. Your opponent is saying that the state of ohio is one of the best in the nation when it comes to voting. What do you say to that . Hes scaled back voting opportunities along with the republicancontrolled legislature. He just appealed all of the way to the United StatesSupreme Court to stop, to ask for a stay taken, away golden week and also less hours and weekends for folks to be able to vote. A chief elections officer should not be doing that so he definitely is not making it easier to vote in the great state of ohio. Hes making it more complicated and more difficult and challenging and it makes no sense. 16 hours before early voting was supposed to start on tuesday, september 30th, the United StatesSupreme Court 54 gave him a stay. Which means . That its going to be harder to vote in ohio. Yes, for workingclass people, absolutely, ed, and the lower court agreed that this was a violation of the 14th amendment of the United States constitution and section 2 of the Voting Rights act, but that did not stop him from continuing to appeal all of the way to take away access to the ballot box. It is the greatest equalizer that we have and we need people to come out to vote to express the vision they have for this nation, state and the community through the power of the ballot box. How does he come to the conclusion that ohio is one of the best states in the union to vote in . What is he talking about . Hes changed boundaries, has arent he . Hes comparing ohio to other states and what hes leaving out is voters in the great state of ohio have less voting opportunities than a year ago or a year before that. We are a nation of progress and no chief elections officer should be scaling back those opportunities to vote, left we forget that in the state of ohio we got those opportunities because of the debacle of 2004 which was at the hands of another republican secretary of state. You fast forward to 2014 and they are at it again, ed. It is unfair. Ohio should be the gold standards of elections and we should be making progress in this state and republicans are scaling that back. Golden week was the time when one could register and vote at the same time. In 2012, 90,000 voters took advantage of that and 14,000 of those voters both registered and voted at the same time. He has taken away evening and Weekend Hours that working class women and men utilized. It is wrong and especially on the heels of Citizens United where the more money you have is more speech and you look at the mcclutch encase and you have the leaders scaling back voting opportunities. It is unamerican, ed. Im calling on all ohioance of good consciousness to stand up to the madness and get out there and vote. A survey conducted earlier this year by the Pugh Charitable trusts found only 8 of ohio voters know who manages elections in the state and theres a real dip in knowledge here. Has this made it difficult for you to get the message out to voters . I know we talk about it an awful lot, but it seems like the people dont quite understand the process and they hear hustead say this is one of the best states in the union to vote in and then you have governor christie asking the question who do you want in charge . Kasich or a democrat or scott in florida and Charlie Crist and he went around the horn, asking that question, leaving the impression that democrat dechls would run fraj lent elections. Your response to that. You know, ed, when democrats are in control, we expand and protect access to the ballot box. What republicans know is when they scale back opportunities less people vote and that is how they win. They subscribe to if you cant beat them, you cheat them and that is exactly what theyre doing and that is why we need democrats to win in this race. The fact that i am running for this race, ed, and we are continuing to educate people, the Democratic Party is out educating people about why its so important to vote and i am running an initiative right now called meet me at the box and i want all ohioans to go to ninaturner. Org, meet me at the box where were encouraging people to vote in a communal way and luckily we have saturday and sunday, before election day thanks to a judge so we will be able to bring souls to the polls this sunday and i want all souls to come to the polls and exercise the most fundamental right that they have all across this nation, ed and not just in ohio and we look at north carolina, texas, wisconsin and republicans are scaling back the hands of time. They are regressing this great nation. We are a nation of progress and we need folks to stand up whether theyre democrat, republican or unaffiliated. We need to stand up and say that our democracy will not be stolen from us, we will exercise our fundamental right to vote. Correlation between the ballot box and the bread box, people must vote. State senator, nina turner of ohio. Good to have you with us tonight. Coming up, extreme makeover, the Rapid Response panel will talk about rand pauls brand to rebrand the gop. Good luck. Rand paul compared his own party with africanamericans to bad pizza . The kentucky senator said, remember, Dominos Pizza said hey, our pizza crust sucks. The Republican Party brand sucks and so he said this, not me, but i do believe it, he said so people dont want to be a republican and for 80 years, africanamericans have had nothing to do with republicans. Were also fighting 40 years of us doing a crappy job, of republicans not trying at all for 40 years so its a lot of overcoming. You have to show up. Youve got to have something to say and really, we just have to emphasize that were trying to do something different. I dont know what it is. This is the same senator who said he agreed with nine out of ten portions of the civil rights act. Rand paul said in 2010 he disagreed with making it a crime for private businesses to discriminate against customers on the basis of race. He compared segregating lunch counters to carrying a weapon in a restaurant. If you decide that restaurants are publicly owned and not privately owned, then do you say that you should have the right to bring your gun into a restaurant even though the owner of the restaurant says, well, no, we dont want to have guns in here. The bar says we dont want to have guns in here because people might drink and start fighting and shoot each other. Does the owner of the restaurant own his restaurant or does the government own his restaurant . You own a business, senator, you dont own the world. Conservative talk show host laura ingram has another idea of why africanamerican voters overwhelmingly support the Democratic Party. You cant get off the plantation. It is their seoul province for maintaining control of the black population. You must be liberal. You must be for certain policies that al sharpton and barack obama and nancy pelosi and harry reid favor. You cant waver, because if you think for yourself, you are, as that caller said, a sellout. The republicans do nothing on issues like jobs, health care, cutting Public Education. Thats for minorities . Howi how are you supposed to get off the plantation if thats the way its going to be . This thinking is outrage outside and laura ingram is playing the race card. You cant get around that joining me tonight on the Rapid Response panel angela ryan, political strategist and Michael Eric Dyson and Georgetown University professor. Dr. Dyson, your response to this story, the comments by laura ingram. Well, i think laura ingram is repeating that suggests that black people are on a plantation and that the democrats have got us slavishly following them and as a result of that black people who are democrat cant think for themselves because to think for themselves would be to, what . Go into the arms of the republicans . I think that would be an even greater, if you will, enslavement for so many africanamerican people, two ideologies that have been counterproductive to our huft rye, but i must say ill give rand paul credit for rethinking the issue of the relationship between black people and the Republican Party. Hes talking about poverty, hes talking about unemployment and hes talking about Crime Reduction and reform and talking about educational reform and we cant beat him up on the one hand and say you have to Say Something and when they do, throw them away, we have to challenge them to speak up about the issues they address. He stops at the waters edge and he does not talk about the story that unfolded in georgia where 90,000 africanamericans were registered and oh, by the way, the secretary of state lost 40,000 of those names in registration. The republicans pick and choose, but across the board when it comes to making a commitment about equality, they are a noshow. I agree with you. This is just rand paul trying to game the system to get people to Pay Attention to him, but he is of the same ilk, think la, your thoughts . Several. One is rand paul is this this very interesting creature who has manifested, you know, several different faces at this point. The first face that we saw of rand paul was i dont support the 1964 civil rights act, at this particular arm. His father when he was in the house voted against a commemoration of the 40th civil rights act. Who does that . Where does that happen . It happens often in their party. So again, you just mention Voter Suppression and rand paul went to ferguson to have a kumbaya meeting with naacp, but nothing else that he does demonstrates any type of real support for communities of color, and were not stupid. People that have liberal, leaning policies whether theyre africanamerican, latino or whatever else know that this is a gain. Whether youre talking about im not going to support the president because the Immigration Reform piece didnt pass and he didnt move on the executive action, at some point you have to realize the reason why theres no comprehensive immigration bill is not because of the president and its because of republican policies and rand paul is one of them and if they really cared about addressing these issues they would address women and the fact that theyre now a majority in this country and so are young people. So where are the policies that benefit the Community Says that they say they really want to serve. I feel this is a big trial balloon by rand paul. If youre going to go with equality you have to go the distance, dont you, dr. Dyson . There are absolutes here when it comes to suppression. There is no question about that. I agree you and miss rye. They have to open the door and those of us inclined to do so must exploit the door opening and push it open further and do what were doing here, if youre really committed to inequality and injustices erosion, the following things must occur. If youre interested in africanamerican people voting for you, then stop the ability of africanamerican people to vote, stop going against sundays when black people might go from the church to the polling place. Stop suppressing that kind of effort and stop the suppression of africanamerican people because of their criminal past or a conviction of a record that often is a reflection of inequality in the Justice System to begin with. Im with you 100 . Okay, good, if youre interested . It, heres what it takes for you to have a serious engagement around africanamerican people. Angela, i dont want to ask a leading question here, but the plantation talk. Your response . Its ignorant. It is blatantly ignorant and overly inflammatory. So many times weve seen whether its rand paul or they put out, you know, allen west and ben carson because theyre black so the term can be more socially acceptable, im not really sure, but im not enslaved by either party. I have a free thinking mind that, works on my own and what is more captive to not only to the people that theyre talking about targeting is the fact that how convenient for rand paul now to be procivil rights when he has a potential 2016 president ial bid on the line. How convenient now that its time to turn out the black vote and have all of these races in the south. How convenient. How does a guy make a comment about what a Restaurant Owner can do with his counter as to who sits there and discriminate and then say, you know what . We have to have a conversation about rebranding our party and be genuinely serious about it. And to compare the party to a bad pizza crust and this is the party that wants to ensure that some folks never get their fair slices of pie. How ironic is all of that . Its very troubling. Dr. Dyson, your final thought on this, when it comes to his comment. You are what you say, right . Unless you apologize and show restitution. And i dont think there is. I dont think rand paul at all has ever backed off on his comment on discrimination by the Restaurant Owner. And this is what precisely you have to hit him on, between the hip be onning rosy between what he states now if hes involved and what he said in the recent past, if hes merely trying to do some kind of rhetorical slight of hand, so to speak, what hes saying is just poppycock, but at the same time we have to at least open the door, jam it open and force the republicans to deal with the fact that europe will have even less of the africanamerican vote and if you try in one sense to play us without speaking to the substantive issues that constitute our concern at the voting place and i think Voter Suppression is a huge one. The plantation metaphor is much ado about nothing, and its ridiculous and recalcitrant and reactionary and its irrelevant to the plight and predicament right now. But it was said. Absolutely it was said and it needs to be opposed, as well. It needs to be said. The Real Plantation happens to be on those places where republicans continue to dole out resources to the africanamerican people as a cherry picker. And in pretenders tonight, sucker punch, john boehner, now the speaker is using revisionist history as a campaign platform. Boehner told a group of Iowa Republicans the world would be a lot better off if george w. Bush were still in charge. Boehner said president obama just doesnt have enough punch. Five years ago when the president of the United States went to europe and he went to the middle east on what i call his his apology tour, poapologizing for america being strong and leading. And the manifestation of the apology tour is the even putin is smart enough to know that push would have punched him in the nose in ten seconds. Boehners memory is weaker than his control over his house. W. s best weapon was eye contact. I looked the man in the eye, i found him to be very straightforward and trustworthy. John boehner can turn a blind eye to history, but if he thinks that soul gazing counts as foreign policy, he can keep on pretending. Welcome back to the ed show. What has happened to talk radio in america . The 30year domination of conservative radio in the industry is coming to an end because of, i think, one woman. This is where it all started. In 2012, sandra flook, she testified before congress to support Birth Control access, and she was attacked. What does it say about the college coed susan fluke who goes before a Congressional Committee and essentially says that she must be paid to have sex . What does that make her . It makes her a slut, right approxima . Makes her a prostitute. She wants to be paid. If we are going to pay for your contraceptives, we want something for it. Ill tell you what it is. We want you to post the videos online so we can all watch. Well, it was a threeday rant, and this was a turning point in talk radio. The king of the conservative airways tried to knock down a law student because she stood up for Womens Health care. Advertisers, where did they go . They fled the format. It cost a lot of people in the industry their jobs. Rush limbaughs influence diminished along with his ratings. Sandra fluke, an outspoken advocate for womens rights. Shes running for state senate in california. But now theres another conservative trying to take her down. Bill bloomfield dropped 1. 3 million in campaign against the candidate. Loose Campaign Finance laws are allowing this wealthy donor to push his own agenda once again. Sandra fluke has a challenge to overcome. She joins us tonight. Sandra, good to have you with us tonight. Thanks so much, ed. Youve attracted some attention. Why is that . I think that i am standing up and loudly fighting for our progressive values, and it seems pretty clear that mr. Bloomfield doesnt want to see me in office fighting for the kind of change that we need in this country. And there are a whole host of other conservative voices who are also contributing to my opponents campaign and attacking me with misleading and personal attacks to try to keep me out of office, try to keep us from accomplishing things like the change we need to Campaign Finance reform, the types of Environmental Protection i want to fight for and the types of gender equality that are so important that we accomplish. Conservative talk radio, according to conservative consultants, pretty much on life support, nowhere near what it used to be. I believe and others do as well, i think it all started with what you went through three years ago. Whats your response to that . As i said, ive faced these kinds of attacks before. And im really proud that i helped to put an end to these types of efforts to silence people in our community. Because i think theres this idea that if you have enough money, a loud enough microphone, your voice counts more than others. And frankly, were in that fight again now. Im up against an incredibly wealthy donor who is trying to buy this election. Hes put in about 1. 5 million more than my opponent has raised for his entire campaign and hes trying to take the choice away from voters. So im proud in 2012 i spoke out and called out that kind of conservative bullying and im doing it again. But what really mattered two years ago was that it wasnt just my voice, it was a lot of folks. A lot of the public, voters standing up and saying this is not how we want a democracy to work. We dont want women to be called is the sluts for speaking out. If we dont make our voices heard, well not be able to fight for the progressive change that we really need. Some of that change that i think youre going to fight for, and correct me if im wrong, do you plan to address Campaign Finance laws, allowing people to come in and buy elections and what could be done on a state level in california on that . Absolutely. I think we can do more at the state level than we can federally. The state is where we define a corporations obligations and responsibilities. So we can put in tough disclosure requirements. Were working on that in california, but theres more to be done. I also want to create a matching grants program so that we can give candidates an incentive to fund their campaigns in the way that i have, by reaching out to individual contributors for contributions. Weve had 5,000 people contribute and 85 of them gave 250 or less. That gives me the independence i need to be accountable to the community and go to sacramento and fight back against the special interests that are pouring money into our elections. So there are those kinds of reforms, but i also want to be really honest with folks, that Citizens United is going to be a long fight and there are some things we can do legislatively, but until voters ask their candidates to do more, thats whats got to be done. Voters have to take a stand. Thank you, sandra. Good to be with you tonight. And we hope youre successful. Way to stay in the fight. Thats the ed show. Politicsnation with reverend al sharpton starts right now. Good evening, ed, and thanks to you for tuning in. But we start with tonights lead, five days before the election, the republican
