Race that will determine control of congress. Well get to that in just a moment. We start this halloween with a trick or treat from President Trump himself. He heads to florida in just a few hours as hallie mentioned there. The first stop on a great race across the Political Landscape, at least 11 stops before tuesdays midterms. Races that arent so much nationalized but they are personalized. I think that the president s the best messenger for the party. He has a great story to tell, and hes been doing that all over the country for the last several months. Get out in 2018 because youre voting for me in 2018. Youre voting for me. A vote for marsha is really a vote for me and everything that we stand for. So theres a problem for President Trump this halloween, and thats the candy that hes handing out. Tax cuts havent worked, a number of critics have come down hard on sending troops to the border. The latest in the birthright citizenship by executive order or as the president tweeted today, socalled birthright citizenship. A hard sell, even for some republicans. You cannot end birthright citizenship with an executive order. As a conservative im a believer in following the plain text of the constitution. I think in this case the 14th amendments pretty clear. Birthright citizenship is a tight rope for some republicans in close races. In the Florida Senate race, polls of governor rick scott running just behind the democratic incumbent. Trumps appearance tonight with scott comes after hes kept the president at arms length for a bit now, and scott himself has struggled to answer that birthright question. Quote, when asked on tuesday whether he supported trumps proposed end to birthright citizenship, scott ignored the question and walked away from a miami herald reporter. Take texas senator ted cruz whose position has flipped, something President Trump gladly pointed out on the 2016 campaign trail. In 2011 cruz was opposed to any change. Ive looked at the legal arguments against it, and i will tell you as a Supreme Court litigator, those arguments are not very good. Fast forward to the 2015 and the president ial race. Candidate ted cruz flipped. Tell us where you are on birthright citizenship now . I think we need to end birthright citizenship. As a policy matter, it doesnt make any sense. In 2011, 2015, tuesday came the flop. Cruz telling the Dallas Morning News he supports the policy, but it is, quote, an open question whether trump has the authority to change it. As the New York Times reports today, the president appears to be throwing out any and all ideas to see what sticks. In close races across the country, its not always easy for republicans to stick with this president. Two reports now from our road warriors, Garrett Haake in waco, texas, kasie hunt in kansas city, missouri. Garrett, i will start with you. Youve got a beto orourke rally about to happen there. Two days now, orourke in Texas College towns. The question, of course, are these college age voters, are they going to show up for orourke . Reporter boy, craig, that is the question, and yeah, were in waco, texas, a conservative college town, but a college town nonetheless. Weve seen orourke governor to lubbock, texas, looking for support here. I can see Baylor University behind us. We are in the shadow baylor. He needs these young and Millennial Voters to come out. The crowd here at 10 00 local time on a wednesday morning is a bit older than the College Student crowd for the most part. Its a bit early for students, but talking to some of these students they tell me theyre excited about this candidacy in a way they have not been before. Perhaps they felt duty bound to vote for a democratic candidate in 2016, in 2018 they feel like the candidate is talking directly to them. Heres a student i talked to about what beto orourke is doing to talk to her generation. The fact that beto has a presence on social media platforms, like with his facebook lives videos and his presence on other social media probably encouraged other young voters. Reporter thats the style argument for beto that some of these students are making. On the substance, id make note of the fact that every student ive talked to has mentioned gun control to me. If gun control is an issue that is motivating people in texas politics, that is a new development, and that may be the kind of thing that gets some younger voters, gets some nonvoters to come out. Frankly, the idea of gun control being a motivating factor on the left in texas is a new element to texas politics, and thats what beto orourke needs if hes going to overcome what is an enormous mathematical advantage in ted cruzs favor. Texas is texas, and the Republican Voters do significantly outnumber democrats. Its going to take those folks coming out of the woodwork. Several hundred thousand they outnumber democrats in texas. You correct me if im wrong, garrett, i believe its mid90s since they elected a democrat statewide . Reporter 1994 was the last statewide democrat. The last senator they sent to washington, 1988, craig. It would be a development indeed. Garrett, thank you so much. Kasie, youre right on the border of two big very close races, an embattled democratic senator there in missouri, a close Gubernatorial Race in kansas. How do National Politics play into these two very different races . Reporter and dont forget a key suburban house race as well on thes c on the kansas side of the line. We are in kansas city, missouri, keeping a close eye on Claire Mccaskill who is running a tough race against the attorney general josh hawley. Mccaskill has quite frankly lucked out a couple of times in the opponents that shes run against. Shes really hung on in territory that has gotten increasingly red, and shes in more danger now than she has been. You know what mccaskill is like. Shes kind of a fierce personality. Shes a fighter. Shes been frustrated with those National Politics that you mentioned because some of the things that have played out in washington, the Government Shutdown earlier this year, but then more recently the kavanaugh hearings she feels frustration reportedly with some of her democratic leadership and others who have made her race harder because of those issues. We have talked to a couple voters here on the plaza in kansas city on the missouri side. Weve talked to voters from kansas and missouri. They both happened to be democrats supporting their respective democratic candidates. A suburban mom from the kansas side who very clearly was motivated by President Trump, and she said she had her first ever official political fundraiser for the democratic candidate running against kevin yoder in that district. She said she also voted for laura kelly, who is challenging chris kobach. Hes the republican nominee for governor in kansas, and that of course has become a remarkably close race because of kobachs very hard line provisions on immigration. You wouldnt expect in a governorship in the deep red state of kansas would be at risk of going blue this year. You were also just in iowa as i understand it, where steve kings attempt for a ninth term now appears to be very uncertain. Is that a Fair Assessment . Reporter well, craig, i mean, this is still very difficult territory for any democrat. His western iowa district steve king has represented for quite some time, hes been sort of untouchable from the other side of the aisle, anyway, but he has gotten in some hot water because his actually, his colleagues that are responsible for getting him elected to the house, the National Republican campaign committee, the chairman condemning his remarks about and tweets that have White Nationalist sentiments. And he had on saturday told the Washington Post that a far right Austria Group that has ties to the nazi party has its roots there, that if those people were here in america that they would be republicans. And so of course that drew quite a bit of notice from National Republicans, some condemnation, the Antidefamation League taking the extraordinary step of asking the House Speaker paul ryan to condemn these moves. Clearly in the wake of the terrible synagogue shooting, his comments getting new scrutiny. So but craig, if youll just indulge me for a second, setting aside that dark story, why are you burying your lead . Why have your viewers on msnbc not seen your epic today show costume yet . Where is it . I didnt think the audience would appreciate it off the top. Were going to save that for later in the hour. Well show it to you again. I was waiting for it with baited breath. Kasie hunt, kansas city, missouri. Thank you. Thank you very much. Eddie is an msnbc amy holmes is a former speech writer for Republican Senate majority leader bill frist. Amy ill start with you in the studios. Are they happy to talk about birthright citizenship right now . Is this the conversation they want to be having a few days before the midterms . It depends on the republican and whether or not this is an issue that is going to rile up their base, their voters. President trump, we know that he can be impulsive and he thinks this issue that worked for him in 2016, so he drops this political grenade yesterday, and i can tell you my reaction was, boy, this puts a lot of republicans on the spot buzz of course theyre going because of course theyre going to be asked about this one week before election day, and they may not have a position on this, and of course if theyre in those hotly contested swing districts, this is the type of issue that could drive away moderate voters, those suburban female voters. Interestingly enough, were seeing that the national leadership, its like whos on first. You have paul ryan saying, the constitution is clear. Then you have Lindsey Graham in the senate saying hes going to offer a piece of legislation. So donald trump, he has scrambled things certainly for republicans and put many of them in an uncomfortable spot. This is part of what the president tweeted today, socalled birthright citizenship, which costs our country billions of dollars and is very unfair to our citizens, will be ended one way or the other. Socalled a very bitter way to close out a midterm. This is a president whos famous for caring about about striking a tone. The president presumably has some pretty decent lawyers around him who have probably gotten in his ear and said, mr. President , you really cant, you know, strike down the 14th amendment with an executive order. If he knows that, if the smart people who are around him know that, what is he trying to do here . Well, i think hes just simply appealing to the darker angels within his base, craig. Its a cynical and profoundly racist gesture, particularly on the heels of the tragedy in pittsburgh. What we saw at kroger, in kentucky, and of course the pipe bombs. We know that the alleged pipe bomb bomber and bowers were radicalized, the caravan, immigration, and here we are again in this moment after the carnage, after the death of 13 people, here we see the president of the United States appealing to those darker angels again. So if its successful, we could talk about the politics, if its successful, i think it reveals something very, very dark about his base. I also want to say that i think representative Ryan Costello had it right. He used this wonderful phrase that its kind of political malpractice. So for those republicans who are in those very hotly contested districts as amy mentioned, those suburban moms and others who may be turned off by this kind of appeal, donald trump has put Barbara Comstock and others in a difficult position. At the end of the day, it is a cynical move designed to appeal to very ugly parts of his base, and its also a reflection that donald trump wants to go back to precivil war. This is really, really bad. Barbara comstock, of course, in that Northern Virginia race right now battling for her political future. Amy holmes, speaking of members of congress, go back to steve king here for a second. Is steve king done . Do we think this is it for steve king or do we think the folks of western iowa send him back for another term . Well, i would not want to make any predictions a week out from election day, but a poll that just came out or was reported on yesterday has mr. King only up by one pouint. This very inflammatory rhetoric that he has used for years, including with me in an interview i did with him many years ago. He was on the radio, he tossed out this racial remark, and i said congressman i dont know if you know who youre talking to, and he was very embarrassed and he wanted to take me to lunch. You might find this amusing, i suggested we go to b. Smiths at union station. Steve king has a long history including attacking republican leadership, so i think there actually might be some republicans on capitol hill that would be rather happy to see the back of mr. King. So heres the thing, professor, you know, one percentage point down according to this poll. Thats where steve king is right now. Do we think that people who would actually vote for steve king would tell a pollster . Yeah, im going to vote for steve king. Or do we think that once again as weve talked about before people who tend to support the candidacy of those who have said time and time again offensive things, racist things, theyre not going to necessarily reveal to a pollster that theyre going to support that candidate . I think thats right, craig. We saw that earlier, remember that we talked about the bradley effect, people that said they were going to vote for bill bradley as mayor in l. A. Then theres the trump effect, people that said they werent going to vote for trump, that he was an abomination in some ways, his position around women, of course they couldnt support him. Then when they went to vote, they voted for him and supported him. Here we see folks, look, steve king has been a racist, a White Nationalist for a long time. Amy had her personal experience with him. Weve heard him, particularly with regards to the way he talks about black folk in this country, and the way in which he talks about whiteness in this country. He is who he is, and iowans people in his district have sent him to the congress on repeated occasion, but we have folk who are about to vote for duncan whos under indictment, whos been indictmeed . We cant quite predict what motivates folk to support some of these people other than they reflect the people they vote for reflect what they themselves represent, if that makes sense. It always makes sense. Thank you, sir. Amy holmes, good to have you. Hope youll come back. Framing mueller, the fbi now investigating an apparent scheme targeting special Counsel Robert Mueller with false accusations of Sexual Harassment. Well look at who might be behind it. A critical seat in a once republican stronghold now up for grabs. Were going to talk to the man vacating that seat, congressman mark sanford about whats fuelling the potential upset in South Carolina. And the florida governors race now down to the wire, i go one on one with a democratic hopeful who hasnt been afraid to call out President Trump. I think the president has done nong in tthing in the time seen him in the white house and certainly not in my encounters with him, not going through a hurricane, not as a candidate running for governor have found him to demonstrate the kind of leadership that you would expect from a president of the United States. At comcast, its my job to develop, apps and tools that simplify your experience. My name is mike, im in Product Development at comcast. Were working to make things simple, easy and awesome. It may be one of the odder stories to come out of the russia investigation. Thats saying a lot, special Counsel Robert Mueller has asked the fbi to investigate what appears to be false claims against him, multiple reporters were contacted over the past few weeks by a woman who said she had been offered money to say she had been harassed by mueller. According to the political website hill reporter, the reporters each determined that the allegations were likely a hoax and that it was unclear if the woman had been offered money to make them. The reporters then contacted the special counsels office. Natasha bertrand is an msnbc contributor. Shes also a staff writer for the atlantic. She has been digging into this story. You actually as i understand it, obtained a copy of the email that one of these women sent. I want to read a portion of this story for our viewers and listeners here. The woman identifying herself as parsons told journalists in an email she had been offered roughly 20,000 by a man claiming to work for a firm called Surefire Intelligence, which had been hired by a gop activist named jack burkman to make accusations of Sexual Misconduct and workplace harassment against Robert Mueller. You reached out to burkman. What did he tell you, natasha . He told me this was all one big effort by muellers office to distract from this Big Press Conference that burkman says hes going to have tomorrow that will reveal the Sexual Harassment and Sexual Assault allegations against Robert Mueller. There is no evidence that a woman actually exists who is making these kinds of allegations against mueller. The only allegations that are out there and that are credible are that this jack burkman along with this right wing kind of twitter troll jacob role have been trying to pay women to make up allegations. We all tried to reach out to this woman that originally reached out to the journalists saying that she had been contacted by this man who claimed to work for burkman and another Company CalledSurefire Intelligence to kind of get more information about this, but she would not get on the phone with reporters. So weve been unable to confirm her identity. But yesterday another woman reached out to me, jennifer ta rurks ub, a law professor, and she told me she had received a similar overture eight days ago claiming to work for Surefire Intelligence, which is this private Intelligence Firm or it claims to be, that said it was digging into muellers past. Here we have two instances of people claiming to work for this company. When we dug into the domain records, it turns out that this company was registered not three weeks ago and the numbers that are listed actually, they link back to jacob walls mother. So this is clearly one big scheme that went awry. There is no actual allegation against Robert Mueller as of right now. Again, the only allegation thats been made is that these women were beingunsels office on the record . Extremely rare. So when we got this statement from the special counsel, it was like an earthquake. I mean, this is someone who never comments. Every single time we reach out for comments there were automatic responses, we will decline to comment. When we saw the special counsels office was taking this seriously enough to issue a statement about it and say they had referred this matter to the fbi for further investigation, that just showed how seriously they were taking this because of course, it is a plot to discredit mueller and smear him not two weeks before the midterm elections. Its a very obvious scheme, but its one in which the special counsel really is not taking any ru risks natasha, thank you. And, were going to need some help with the rest. Youve worked so hard to achieve so much. Perhaps its time to partner with someone who knows you and your business well enough to understand what your wealth is really for. The trump factor, how will it play in florida . The president heads there today to campaign for republican candidates. The governors race there between democrat Andrew Gillum and republican ron desantis is one of the most closely watched in the country. The latest polling shows a tight race there with gillum holding a slight edge. I went to florida and spent some time with the democratic hopeful. We took a look at how Florida Politics stand to once again shape the Political Landscape of the country. With less than a week to go until election day, the gloves are off. So we need you on the road and in their debates, the candidates to be the next governor of florida have channelled the no holds bar style of politics that has dominated the nation. Im not calling desantis a racist, im simply saying the racists believe hes a racist. Im not going to sit here and take this nonsense from a guy like Andrew Gillum who always plays the victim. Headlines have called the race the epitome of politics in the trump era, the candidates representing the polarizing extremes of both parties. The democrats get in power, the country goes in the wrong direction. If we dont have a blue wave coming, its going to be horrible for the working class. Mayor Andrew Gillum of tallahassee a surprise victor in the democrat ig primary. Hes a liberal, progressive politics once thought too extreme now resonating and putting him and other progressive candidates across the country on the midterm ballot. Former republican congressman ron desantis cruised to victory in his primary by embracing the president. So the president s going to send folks down there to safeguard the border, im all for that. That ad Getting National attention, reading the president s book the art of the deal to his son. Then mr. Trump said, youre fired. I love that part. Both men attracting big names to their state as they try to reach the majority of voters in the middle. Do you see it as two guys who come from opposite ends of the political spectrum . I dont fit very neatly in that box. I mean, i believe in corporations, i believe in business, but i also believe in people, and i dont think you have to choose one over the other. Gillum won his first Public Office at the age of 23 while still in college. He was elected tallahassees mayor in 2014. His views very different from his opponent and some in his own party. You do want to raise taxes on businesses . Correct. I believe that businesses ought to pay their fair share. You do want medicare for all . I believe health care auloug to be a right and not a privilege. You would acknowledge that you would be more progressive. Progressive i wouldnt deny any day of the week. On the other side desantis, a harvard educated lawyer and iraq war vet was elected to congress in 2012. Hes been drawing big crowds touting the president s achievements and agenda. We got 20year low in unemployment. The iran deal is dead. Our taxes have been cut. Id say thats pretty good work for a year and a half. Desantis has been hammering gillum over an fbi investigation into possible corruption. Im the only candidate running who can credibly say hes not under investigation for corruption by the fbi. Gillum denies hes a target of that investigation. The fbi has not commented. Gillum who would be the first black governor of florida has sparred with his opponent over race, especially after this controversy comment. The last thing we need to do is to monkey this up by trying to embrace a socialist agenda. A spokesman for desantis has said he was only asking voters not to make the wrong decision in november. My opponent spends a lot of time talking about and helping remind people of my race, and i spend a lot of time trying to focus people on what it is im trying to talk about. The candidates in florida and nationwide trying to get their message out to a divided nation. We should note that we did reach out to the Desantis Team for an interview, but the candidate was not available. Lets bring in dan meduri host of news talk, florida. You talk to floridians every day. What are they saying about this election . Theyre saying that its absolutely polarized. Theyre saying that they have voted. They dont want to even wait until election day. Theyve made up their minds and theyre voting Straight Party ticket. Right now if thats the fact, it looks like its going to be razor thin as you pointed out, maybe half a point to the victor, whoever that might be. Would you have thought a year ago that a guy like Andrew Gillum could become governor of florida . Absolutely not. I mean, Andrew Gillum really came out of nowhere. Hes got a rise, hes a shooting star, hes just plowing through the norms here in the state of florida, and hes got not only a real chance but he is the favorite now to take this away. And its not because of the weakness of ron desantis, which is clearly, clearly, a weak, weak candidate that only is where he is today because donald trump touched him on the right hand and said this is my guy, Andrew Gillum is breaking down a will the of norms a lot of norms here in florida, shaking a lot of traditions we came to understand. Thats why its very interesting to watch this race. Theres an oped in New York Times this week, it cites gillums dilemma. Florida is actually five states, a coalition out of lower alabama, a midwest like midsection, a tropical megalopolis and more can be tricky there. How do these red areas of the state, how do those areas not doom a progressive candidate . I dont think they doom it because Andrew Gillum is focusing on the more populated counties across the state of florida. Hes focusing a lot of resources in south florida, in southwest florida, the tampa bay region altogether. Hes focusing on those regions to try to pump up base turnout, which, again, he came out of nowhere. This was a guy that was continuously during the democratic primaries in third or fourth place, considered a nonfactor, and then on primary election day people showed up to the polls in just droves to vote for him. Thats going to be where he does his damage. Right now republicans still about 2 ahead when it comes it early voting. Democrats have spent millions of dollars to try to get people to early vote, but theyre just not early voting. Republicans have turned in 57 of absentee ballots where democrats only 51 . Its going to come down literally to election day on gillum. Will the independents go his way. Will the youth vote show up. Will the people show up and vote, and at this point in time, theres no reason to doubt they wont. Lets talk about rick scott for a second. He had been trying to shall we say keep his distance from this president. Now, of course, we know that President Trump is going to be appearing with him later today there in florida. Did scott finally realize the reality of republican politics in the era of trump . Well, i think that rick scott is a person whos always checking the polls and has surrounded himself by very capable people. Hes a person thats won every election hes ever gone despite his company having to pay 1. 7 billion to the taxpayers and to the federal government because they defrauded taxpayers. I mean, he is corrupt. He is thoroughly corrupt. His net income has raised 82 since he took office as governor. Were only finding this out now that hes running for u. S. Senate and his wife ann has to report her Financial Investments and her financial offerings. Were finding out just how thoroughly corrupt and his blind trust not very blind. Yet rick scott a smart guy, a very sinister guy, and a guy that knows how its going. And the fact of the matter is that trump still has a 90 Approval Rating here inside the Florida Republican party. He wants to keep his distance, be his own man, but yet he also wants to show republicans that, hey, im still with the big guy. All right, well leave it there. Thank you so much, dan. Do appreciate you. Thank you very much, craig. From florida to the palmetto state, the congressional seat in South Carolina that should have been completely safe for republicans this time maybe not so much. Were going to talk to the man vacating that seat. Congressman mark sanford about why, and peer pressure may be the key to turning out the Millennial Vote come tuesday. Our road warrior, Gady Schwartz at a high school in pennsylvania. What are they telling you . Craig, a little bit of optimism to share when it comes to getting out the youth vote. Were going to talk to a classroom full of firsttime voters. Theyre going to tell us their hopes, their fears and why they dont trust the twoparty system. Thats coming up. Kevin tibbles is in plymouth, minnesota, Gadi Schwartz is in redding, pennsylvania. Ill start with you. I know youve been talking to students at Governor Mifflin High School there. What are those students telling you . Craig this school is a total bright spot when it comes to getting students out to vote and getting them registered to vote. In fact, this right here is an award they are very proud of. They got this for registering 90 of eligible seniors to vote. So those kids are very excited about their first elections, and one of their tricks here they said, it was pretty easy. What they did is they had the kids go around and talk to other kids. They were the ones doing the registering, cutting out the adults, and some of those kids werent even that engaged in politics. They just wanted their voices heard. We talked to a classroom full of those first time voters and found all kinds of enthusiasm. Take a listen. Quick show of hands, how many of you guys are voting in the midterms . If you guys had to summarize with one word, what are your fears what would it be . The environment. Polarization of the country. Gun rights. I would say ignorance. Human rights. Resources. I would say immigration. Totaltarianism. Unjustice. Corruption. What would be one thing you hope for when you g out to vote . Change. Representation. Equality. Economy. Setting an example for the future generations. Having a voice. Do you think the twoparty system adequately represents your views . No. No. The twoparty system is too set in stone. I really care about the environment by im a registered republican. You cant really be in the middle because if you say that youre in the middle from both sides you get hated for it. Do you think the older generations take you guys seriously . No. No. I want to show them we do mean business and we do take our future seriously i do. Reporter taking their future seriously. A will the of those student reflected what we see across the country, g nerthey dont like t labeled, put into a box. They like to think their own mind. Now its going to be up to them to actually show up to the polls. When you look at some issues like gun rights, here in pennsylvania that was one of the things that we talked to them about. Even on an issue like that where everybody assumes that they all have somewhat of the same mind, we found some differences. Were going to talk about that coming up. Thank you so much, Gadi Schwartz in pennsylvania. Lets go to Kevin Tibbles now. He is in minnesota. I know youve been talking to women voters specifically in that states Third District. What are they telling you . Reporter well, first off, craig, i drew the short straw today because i get to spend a day Drinking Coffee in Dunn Brothers coffee in plymouth, minnesota, which is not a hardship. But i am talking to women voters here. Julie peterson is a lawyer from the area. Youre also a young parent. Youre a professional, and you are going to be voting which way this time . I will be voting for dean phillips. And that will be the democrat . Yes. Here in the Third District theres a lot of talk that this could change hands. When it comes down to it when youre thinking about this vote, what is it thats swaying you that way . One of the issues thats important to me and is very important to dean phillips is taking the big money out of politics. Thats interesting. Thats an issue we havent heard a lot of people talking about up to this point. What is it about this money that concerns you . Well, if big moneys coming in, then its their interests that are being listened to and pandered to, and i would rather my interests are being thought about. Well, we have done some research into this, and weve found that some, more than 10 million has been spent in this region. When you hear figures like that with regards to just one district in minnesota, 10 million, what are your thoughts . You can tell somebody has some interests that need to be served. I know that dean phillips has been getting a lot of his money from small contributors like myself, and its those small contributors and candidates that are focusing on getting their contributions and their support from real voters and not big interests. Thats whats important to me. It sounds like part of the concern here is the fact that perhaps the wishes of the voters are being manipulated by people with big, deep pockets from somewhere else. Thats obviously a concern here with julie and a concern of many others in the Third District here in minnesota. Back to you, craig. Perhaps all over this country. Kevin tibbles there in minnesota, Gadi Schwartz there in a high school in pennsylvania. Thank you both. Safe no more . A seat thats normally a republican stronghold could flip blue in six days. Introducing zero account fees for brokerage accounts. And zero minimums to open an account. At fidelity, those zeros really add up. Maybe ill win, saved by zero the last week of the race, the republicans are defending themselves in some normally safe district districts. One of the districts that are normally safe is the First District of South Carolina. The republicans are pumping in about 87,000 now to help their candidate Katy Arrington, and Steve Stivers told reports that i expect that we wont have to spend any money. But now sh, the outgoing rep of South Carolinas first, congressman mark sanford and thank you for being with me. Pleasure. You have refused to endorse ms. Arrington who beat you the prima primary, and why not . Because i have normally not. And i went to college with the opponent, but i have never endorsed down ballot, and sticking to true to what i have done for more than 20 years. So it is nothing personal . No, i mean, i think that she is compounding it a little bit a and made it more difficult saying that we are the party of donald j. Trump and this is not what i would have gravitated to while in office, but it is consistent to what i have done consistently for 20 years. Do you see a difference of the republican and the democrat in that race, Katy Arrington and joe stivers . In what sense . Well, in ideology . Certainly. That is the case of every race i have looked at and been asked to get involved in over the last 20 years. And i have endorsed up ballot, but not down ballot. And i have seen that you are offering the trick thor otreaters pocket constitutions it seems this year. Is that a not so veiled swipe at the president . No, nothing that we didnt have candy, and the constitution, and hi had to cloe out the office and so i got the pocket guide and nothing more complex of that. And you have more constitutions than bitesized snickers. And what do you make of the suggestion that birthright citiz citizenship can be revoked with the stwip of a pen . I would find it hard to believe. Again, i am not a fan of the birthright citizenship, but i believe it is more complex than the stroke of the pen. Why why are you not a fan of it . Because you know it is enshrined for the 14th amendment of the constitution. I am on a bill that says otherwise there. Are a number of folks who have said that interpreatation is not what the founding a fathers intend and the idea that you happen to have come in from haiti or anywhere else, and because you get your boat the shore, all of the sudden, you are open to the same rights and privileges that anybody else is, i think that is at odds with the intent. Think it is ultimately about slavery at that time. And rights that should come to former slaves, but we will leave that to legal expert, but i believe it is more complex than the stroke of a pen. Steve king in iowa, and should the voters in west with earn iowa send him back for a ninth term . Well, that is for the voters of that district to decide. And a number of republicans have disavowed him. And a number of business backers as as well have disavowed him and some of the tweets, and are you with one of the folks or Still Standing by steve king . You know, i have not followed that race. I have been focused on again shutting down the office here in charleston, and i have not been watching what is happening in the midwest. Okay. Congressman mark sanford and we hope that you wont be a stra e stranger, because we always enjoy your commentary, and send me one of the pocket constitutions. All right. Ill do it.
