Coming up next, explosive new reporting on the fallout from that trumps aide remark and why it reportedly put the White House Press team in disarray. What we are witnessing, alex, is a kind of a death of the heart. A corrosion of the soul that were experiencing around the white house and around the country. Bring reaction to the mccain comment and dismay over the absence of a white house apology. If folks want to hide this stuff and cover it up, i think its fantastic because im going to out them. It is a threat and a promise. Stormy daniels attorney launches new attacks and longer list of payments to Michael Cohen. And the sitdowns. Why the president s upcoming summit with kim jongun may affect any possible interview with robert mueller. Were going to get to what is happening right now for you. Going to go to the inside into the white houses handling of an offensive joke rather made by an aide about senator john mccain. In the last hour, Jonathan Swann called into the program and told me that at least five people leaked to him the details about a Meeting Press secretary Sarah Sanders held in order to address the matter. Lets take a listen to part of my interview with jonathan. The new reporting we got is that yesterday mornings meeting of the white House Communication Team in the wake of that leak visibly upset and furious Sarah Sanders told the group, im sure this conversation is going to leak, too. Thats just disgusting. Her prediction came true. We report on axios report from five sources in the room. In which she said that the remark was inappropriate but spent most of the time with the Senior Leadership focused on the fact that it leaked. At one point, according to a source in the room, the white House Strategic communication director mercedes interjected with a word of support for saddler. She said, quote, you can put this on the record. I stand with kelly sadler. You said there were five sources about this leak. How many people were in that room . Oh, theres more than 20 in the room. So, its a big meeting. Its communications and press team. Okay. Its a large meeting, but, nonetheless, this is truly unheard of. You did not have this in the Obama Administration and you did not have this in the george w. Bush administration. And this is not anne aberration th. Reaction to sadlers remarks. Lets go to jeff bennett. Hes got more for us. What all can you tell us about this . Hey, alex. I think we can certainly see the White House Defense starting to take shape here. Yesterday White House Press secretary Sarah Sanders refused to acknowledge or even disown the remark that kelly sadler made about john mccain. Today mcmulvaney the white house budget director who wears a couple hats in the Administration Says the issue is not the comment while offensive. The real issue is the fact that what was said in a private meeting was leaked publicly. Take a look at what he said earlier today on fox news. Remarks are awful. But, lets look at this in context. That was said in a private meeting. Inside the white house. Its not like you might Say Something really nasty about me off the air and it doesnt have that much impact. You come on air and say it officially, now thats a problem. This was a private meeting inside the white house. It was a joke. A badly considered joke. Some are calling for her firing. Do you think thats right . I dont. I honestly dont. You have to have some freedom to speak in a private meeting. We all said things in private, especially in smaller groups we work with. I think shes handled it appropriately and i was under the pressuimpression that she c the daughter. Im really disappointed that someone would undermine the president by leaking. I also think its worth noting in that new reporting from axios, Sarah Sanders was upset that White House Press staffers were effectively turning on each other and the fact that this leak really overshadowed the intended white house messaging about the return of those three americans from north korea. I have to tell you, alex. People who confirmed to me that kelly sadler made make that cruel and crude remark said she said it in such a way where it was clear she shot it would be well received in the room. And that, i think, can be read as a signal in many ways of the tone that President Trump himself has set for what is acceptable among his own staffers. Remember, President Trump has disparaged john mccain in a way that goes well beyond the two of them at times being political opponents. The president mocked john mccain for being held captive as a p. O. W. Will there be a public apology and a Public Statement . We dont know that for sure. John mccains daughter earlier this week on the way out here to talk with you. I talked to a source similar with that conversation. That person told me hes not entirely sure whether an apology was offered. The fact that kelly sadler reached oout was a signal that she had done something wrong. The white house is trying to frame this as an argument about the fact that the remark itself, what was said in private, has now gone public. Frankly as we cross another threshold for public acceptable behavior. Alex . You make a great point there, jeff. The statement was said in an environment. The tone of it was thought to be or expected to be acceptable. So, to that point, i thank you for that and much more. Appreciate it. Joining me now, erin, senior political director and Senior Reporter for politico new york. I want to get to the leaks in just a moment, but, first, erin, i want to get to your reaction to mulvaneys response that people should be able to say whatever they want in private. He went on to say because this comment wasnt made in public this isnt a problem for the white house. That is where i think he is seen as incorrect. You have reaction from lawmakers, especially in lawmakers in President Trumps own party. They are calling them cruel and unacceptable. And it is certainly a problem for the white house that these were said internally. And your impression of all this. What do you make of the white houses handling of sadlers comments. Will they issue an apology or have sadler fired . It doesnt look like that will be happening. What stands out in terms of this overshadowing the narrative that the white house wanted. You are seeing the press secretary from the podium put her allegiance to the president ahead of what many other people would have done, which is say that these remarks were cruel, awful and disparaging. She, instead, tried to defend her team and her staff in the face of what was really indefensib indefensible. What we are seeing trumps enablers doing what we thought was unthinkable. You know, at any time we would have said that these comments should be denounced and a no brainer. Apparently, today, thats not the case. Yeah. Very distressing, frankly. Mulvaney, as you know, also addressed the issue of the leaks in the white house. Heres what he said about that. What happened with the mccain comment yesterday or two days ago, i lose track of time, was different. It was a private meeting and the leak was designed to hurt that person. Also, completely ignored the harm it would do to the mccain family, which is doubly inconsiderate. That is a problem. I put that in a different classification and doesnt surprise me that stuff leaks about a cabinet meeting. The press is in there for some of that meeting and a private meeting and someone who has a throw away comment and bad joke and to have that intentionally, thats troubling and i hope to get to the bottom of that one. The upticks of leaks overall. How unprecedented is this . Well, alalex, you did a terrifterrif ic and i agree with what jonathan said. This is the normal. And i think that that is an important point here. You see the white house trying to make this a story about leaks. That becomes a story about the media which is one of trumps favorite topics. I think Jeff Bennetts reporting that this remark was meant to get some kind of reaction from the room that would have been seen as positive. That matters also. The delivery talks about the tone in the room and how aides feel and able to Say Something like this. Azi, the suggestion by mulvaney that the leak was put out there to hurt sadler. What do you make of that . She still has a job. Sources motivation for leaking can always be called into question. What is not being called into question is the atmosphere that enabled her to think this was funny. Someone thought this remark would be well received speaks to the kind of team that trump has brought into the white house. Obviously, the people who are leaking had a different view and theres always people who want to sort of climb up the ladder. But if this is the environment in which theyre talking about behind closed doors, it sort of gives more fuel to the fire about asking about what is the thinking behind some of the policy decisions that theyre making if this is how theyre talking about strategy and john mccain who disagreed with him on policies all you want. His record and the life hes lived is usually commendable and people have held that in a high regard. Trump stepped away from that and people are following in that lead. The people who want to work with him. Im telling you, president bartlett would have never allowed that on the west wing. Thats all i have to say. Lets get to independent senator angus king who is voicing his concern about this on morning joe. This was thursday. I dont think she was forthcoming in her answers. She was very careful, almost lawyerly, although she kept saying shes not a lawyer. You had to sort of pry the information out of her. We had a closed session for three hours after that meeting and the answers werent any more forthcoming. In fact, i got very frustrated and felt that in some ways they were worse than we had in the public hearing. Erin, we have also learned that democratic senator joe donnelly and being joe manchin of west virginia. What do you think . Will she be confirmed . The support from those two Democratic Senators means a lot. Donnelly and manchin are up for reelection having them onboard lets republicans come to the table and represent by a nominee backed by both parties. Telling especially speak to that closed door meeting that happened when the cameras are off. So, if he is opposing, it doesnt really move the needle here. The democrats stand opposed to haspels nomination because of enhance intear dpaaerrogation ts and now that republicans have been able to pull over two democrats, it is looking likely she will be confirmed. Do you agree . I think erin is directly accurate on this. I think if republicans who really didnt have an issue with her record going into this can point to two democrats and call this bipartisan and look at the other are opposing her as being part of the democratic opposition y think republicans have the cover they need and probably push this forward. Azi and erin, thanks for your time. Thank you. Coming up next, why the secretary of state calls the reporters meeting with kim jongun undignified. He holds your house in the palm of his hand hes your home and auto man big jim, hes got you covered great big jim, there aint no other so, this is covered, right . Yes, maam. Together, were building a better california. New today, north korea has sent a date for the dismantling of its may nuclear testing. The ceremony will take place on may 23rd and again on may 25g9. News coverage of the actual test site will be restricted to journalists from china, uk and the u. S. Joining me now, barbara lee, california democrat. Welcome back to the broadcast. Are you pleased with these concessions by kim jongun and things hes doing ahead of the planned summit with the president in just a few weeks . First, let me say that i have always supported diplomatic initiatives, denuclearization of north korea and, really, opening direct talks. So, steps leading up to the j e jujune 12th negotiations are very important but i dont have any illusions that these negotiations will be easy come when, in fact, theyre going to be very difficult. Easy, difficult or permanent. How do you feel about that given history. I have really some concerns about this being permanent only because i do know that kim jongun and his family want nuclear weapons. I mean, thats their goal. Now, the question is, can we really use these negotiations to try to narrow the scope of their program . Im very concerned about our negotiations right now given what we have just done as it relates to iran by pulling out. And, so, the timing of this pulling out of the iran deal is very curious to me and i think really does not bode well for us coming up with some agreement with north korea. But im very pleased that the direct talks are moving forward. Lets all take a listen to secretary of state mike pompeo. When asked by a reporter if he thought kim is rationale. Here it is. You asked about my conversations with chairman kim. This question sort of undignified. Yes, we had good conversations, substantive conversations but good conversations. Theres some videos that have been released. You can see our conversations were warm. Why is the question undignified, the president himself has portrayed kim as unstable. What should we take away from this kind of rebranding of kim . We should really understand that the rebranding of kim is really, i think, quite frankly, a ploy. You know, we have a president who changes his mind each and every day and, really, i think is not quite prepared going into these negotiations. And, so, i would hope that the name calling would stop and that the efforts are forthright on behalf of both sides so that we can begin the path towards denuclearization. I have been to the demilemilitad zone. And i know endangers of nuclear war, as well as war fare and lets hope that both sides come to some sort of agreement but im very worried and chagrin when it comes to the iran deal and what we have done as it relates to our pulling out and not keeping our word. I want to ask you more about that because i know you joined seven fellow democrats on a statement on this withdrawal from the Iran Nuclear Deal and youre saying that the president has manufactured an international crisis, i believe, that risks armed conflict. Do you really see the u. S. Heading to war with iran . This is one step in heading to war with iran. Im very concerned because, first of all, the International Atomic Energy Agency has verified ten times that iran was complying with the jcpoa. So, they were keeping faith in terms of this agreement to stop their nuclear program. Once that, once we pulled out, we have to rely now on, alex, the europeans. To help prevent war from taking place in the future. And, so, im extremely concerned that this is a step backwards and, you know, in our efforts to achieve global peace and security and a step forward in unfortunately unleashing what could be a terrible, spiraling of events in the middle east that could lead to a war. I want to switch gears here and ask you about the white house handling of the incense ittive remarks about senator john mccain who is, obviously, battling brain cancer. Do you think there is a decency deficit in this white house and do you think it is the president s job to set the tone . The its a decency deficit but these people act in an unethical and immoral way each and every day that we know of something that is taking place. This president has created an environment thats really, quite frankly, toxic. People think they can say anything, do anything and thats why its so dangerous. And my heart goes out to the mccain family. Why in the world would anyone have this even these views, you know, about senator mccain. And why in the world would they even think to Say Something like that. Unless theyre trying to create an atmosphere where they can, you know, begin their own agenda publicly about senator mccain. I think its dispicable and who they are and its because donald trump is who he is. Im just about out of time but i want to get to what you and house colleagues are doing voting on the farm bill next week proposes the cut to the food stamp program. The president wants to slash, what, 15 billion. How many people would be affected by this and what are the democrats going to do about it . We are fighting back against this farm bill because we have some 200,000 some children who would lose access to nutrition access through their school programs. 2 Million People would lose access to snack benefits. I have to tell you, i was on food stamps during some very difficult times in my life. A bridge over troubled waters. The majority of people on food stamps they have this work requirement they are disabled, theyre children or theyre seniors. This, again, shows who they are. Its immoral and unethical and personally as a person of faith, this goes counter to everything that i believe in. That everything this country is about. So, hopefully republicans will understand that this is wrong. That we need to stop this farm bill from coming forward. And we need to go back to the drawing board and create a farm bill that is worthy of everyone in america in terms of the provisions that we all can agree on. But this one here needs to be defeated. Well, good luck to you on all of that and thank you for joining me, congresswoman barbara lee from california. My pleasure. Coming up next, how the russia probe is dividing america. Would that have any influence on Robert Muellers investigation . Im not a bigwig. Or a canythingo. But ive got an idea sir. Get domo. Itll connect us to everything thats going on in the company. Just 13 of republicans believe his investigation is legitimate while 75 view it as a witchhunt. As for democrats, 76 consider muellers investigation legit. Only 10 believe it is a witchhunt. Lets bring in Peter Emerson and noel. Welcome to you both. Good tasee yo see you. Noel, your position on this is what . Is it legit or a witchhunt . I think it started out legitimately. I think he had good intentions. I still think he has good intentions and i think a lot of republicans are irstated about is the length of time it has taken. Russian meddling in our elections is horrible. Every republican americ whether it via social media, advertising or whatever theyre doing is a det riment to our society as a whole. I think even mike pence was on a show saying lets wrap it up and get to the bottom of it. We have a lot of things going on in the country both, you know, abroad and at home that we need to take care of. And the Mueller Investigation is just a long and drawn out process. It is, noel. But the problem is, its been compared to an onion. You peel back things and unveil more things you should investigate. Should there be a timeline on this . Is that fair to put this on an investigation of this magnitude . You gave a good description or, you know, about an onion peeling back and theres more and more and more. But it seems like there is a lot of bad actors that have been surrounding trump and i think, you know, even giuliani, for all the mishaps that he, you know, has said on television, he has made some good points and it looks like that its all around manfort. What man. Youre calling them bad actors around donald trump. Doesnt every avenue need to be investigated . If you want to be honest about it, its exhausting to keep talking about it, as well. All at a point where there is a lot of saturation about this. Does that mean that republicans should put pressure on mueller to stop the investigation just because its taking a while . I think a lot of the rhetoric. I think a lot of the things combine would the mud with the investigation, the constant, you know, narrative for a lot of the democrat politicians by saying impeach, impeach and commercials constantly going aimpeach, impeach, impeach. That combined with the Mueller Investigation is a Tipping Point for a lot of republicans. I think theyre just tired of it. You know, peter, the impeach comment there. Do you agree that thats not necessarily something that is going to get democrats anywhere in the election . I mean, its premature to be talking about impeachment at this point, isnt it . I think its premature but as ambassador mcfall told you a short while ago that were headed into unknown territory. Weve already seen what the russians are capable of doing and weologist kn also know that democracy is under siege. The polarization we were talking about in terms of this poll and the fact that so many people have taken such strident positions in whether its the Mueller Investigations, whether its the immigration issue or whatever. That this country while were focused on this opens itself up to an investigation, once again, the social media that could very, very well determine the outcome of the 2018 election going into 2020. So, to me, the democracy is undersiege and if it takes five years for mueller and, by the way, there are investigations on capitol hill to get to the truth. Then it seems everyone who is a patriot would want to get to the truth no matter the length of time. If thats the case, peter, how did we as a nation get to such a polarized position on the Mueller Investigation . And then what are the implications of this . Well, i think no question that we have been creeping, walk and even now more recently running to polarization since the civil war. So, when the particular Tipping Point for this current polarization is determined by historians, ill leave to that. But theres no question in my mind and so many others that when you have a candidate who calls out people for their color of their skin or because theyre immigrants or because theyre different than others and makes fun of people who have physical handicaps. When you unleash that kind of fear and that kind of hatred and bias and prejudice, its inevitably going to lead to very, very strident polarization. Its not about a victory for the world. Why are you shaking your head, noel . What peter is saying is that hes describing some things that trump did on the campaign trail or what he, some adjectives that he said. Thats his personality. His personality is different from his policies. Yes, peter. His personality is different from his policies. A lot of americans think that his tax cut policies, that a lot of things that he has done have been a success. You know, his judicial appointments. They have been a success. Youre talking about his personality. No, im talking about racism, bias and prejudices. Thats not a personality, that may be a personality flaw strong view on immigration. Go ahead. He has strong views on immigration. But if you could remember him going down the escalator or whatever, you know, part of his platform was immigration and this wall. This crazy wall. And that was what put him on the map. You know, being a republican, we had 16 great candidates. I was working for one of them. I was not working for donald trump. And nobody took this seriously. When he was going down making a big production on the escalator we were like, whatever. As a pundit. When i would go on shows and talk about it. When we would get to donald trump, i was like, whatever. And totally won. And then we have him and he won the nomination. So, we have to look at why he won and a lot of that was based on this wall. This, you know, this immigration policy. Youve got to admit, he flipped some of these states. Its something to look at. If the democrats want to look at how to take this guy out rather than concentrate on impeachment and stuff, get a really great candidate for the next go around for 2020 and then if you dont like him, smoke him out. We should build a wall for canada then. The new democratic platform. Oh, god. Okay, peter. I think thats extreme, but no. I think a mexican wall is very extreme when you start blaming all of our internal problems on the color of peoples skin. Legal immigration, coming in the right way. We had an influx. By the way, since donald trump mentioned the wall, people coming through the border back when he, you know, took office, decreased. Now, its up, again, now. But when he came in to office, the numbers coming across have decreased because people are a little nervous about coming to the United States. It is now increased which is why he mocked a woman who serves in his cabinet during a cabinet meeting. So, all right, you guys. I dont think were going to come to an agreement on this and trying to rectify the president s personality. I do want to talk about the revelations about Michael Cohen. And the consulting deals with novartis and Columbus Nova and at t. Youre familiar with large sums of money changing hands. Im going to ask you the same question, peter. Noel, you first. Two parts to this. The first part of it is back when i said nobody really, you know, had it in with donald trump. This was true. I remember a lot of people calling different consultants saying, you know, a lot of deals on the table. There are a lot of things going on and no one had an in with donald trump. I mean, the people that were surrounding him were not normal, you know, campaign politicos that you would go to for consulting or whatever. You have to look at a lot of these companies. At t and Drug Companies and a lot of people looking at this administration going, oh, my gosh. What are we going to do . We dont know how this guy thinks. This is not someone that walked down the halls at the rnc on a regular basis. No one understood how this operation so, thats okay. But on the flip side of it. You know, i think that he was, you know, i guess aggressively seeking some of these companies and taking these huge retainers. Maybe not being able to deliver anything because it sure didnt look like he brought anything home. Do you agree with that, peter . Im just flabbergasted by the lack of any ethical commitment. Listen, influence peddling is bipartisan. It always has been. An administration a little over a year old with 19 indictments ranging from Money Laundering to influence peddling. What about the Clinton Administration . How many people did that . There were not. I was making a point. There are 19 indictments. Please tell me how many indi indictments there were in the Clinton Administration, noel . I dont know how many indictments in the Clinton Administration. Look, you guys, unfortunately, im out of time but the fact is what kind of irks me sometimes we are talking about the Trump Administration and we dont have to go back in time unless the questions ask to do so. But, nonetheless, i will see you both very soon. Thank you so much. Thanks. How the president s upcoming summit with kim jongun could affect the russia investigation. But then something happened. We had to deal with spam, fake news, and data misuse. Thats going to change. From now on, facebook will do more to keep you safe and protect your privacy. Because when this place does what it was built for, then we all get a little closer. This is a jungle gym. And a baseball diamond. A mythical castle. And a grand banquet hall. Nothing runs like a deereâ„¢ save 300 on the x350 select seriesâ„¢ tractors with the purchase of a mulchcontrolâ„¢ kit. New developments in the russia investigation after special Counsel Robert Mueller has reportedly questioned the Pharmaceutical Company novartis about payments to trumps attorney Michael Cohen. This comes after cohen sold himself as an adviser and offered to provide intel on the trump white house. Now, Stormy Daniels attorney telling joy reed cohen formed a relationship with a d. C. Law firm. Lets listen to michael avenatti. What did Michael Cohen sell as it related to the idea that they were going to allow Michael Cohen to come to the law firm . Its pretty clear what he sold them. What he sold them was a book of clients. A book of corporations or individuals that had already retained them for access to the u. S. President. That needs to be the next inquiry. Joining me now, federal and white collar criminal attorney caroline. What is your take on what avenatti just said . I think its quite interesting, from my perspective, the question is, is it legal . The fact is what weve seen so far is, in fact, perfectly legal. Pay to play is nothing new in washington and the federal bribery law, which is everybody sort of throwing around here, very narrow after that 2016 decisi decision. An official act on the part in this case of the president for the money in exchange and i think a really good defense in terms of certainly in at ts case. They gave him all this money, but, obviously, the Trump Justice Department then moved forward with blocking the deal. So, they didnt really get anything in return. Look, its unseamly, its swampy. You know, it doesnt pass the sort of smell test. But, as far as, you know, legal things go at this point, it seems legal. Swampy and unseemly might be a step further because novarits apparently allowed a contract with cohen and essential consultants to lapse early in 2018 because canceling it might have caused anger. This is according to reports quoting an unnamed insider. If these claims are proven, would extortion charges be a possibility . You know, i see the angle there. I dont think, you know, just the sort of unmitigated fear is enough to get to an extortion charge at this time. Now, thats not to say that there arent many, many facts that were not aware of. Look, i agree. Is it quite odd that a company would choose to let a contract of this magnitude lapse and continue paying 100,000 per month for literally no work at all . Yes. I mean, thats questionable. And, you know, prosecutors dont really believe in coincidences. So, i agree that theres likely more. I dont think that there is enough to get to an extortion charge just yet. Honestly, i think my opinion is that we could be seeing more of like an organized crime charge here. When you look at all the different payments in totality. So, i think that could be sort of a more likely candidate for a federal charge here. Okay. Thats interesting. But i want to get to the daily beast reports which says at t met with other allies for intel on the trump white house. Is any of this illegal on any front at all or is this just viewed a little bit on the shado side or all above and beyond the norm . Well, you know, i think that reporting, again, goes to mitigate any sort of potential criminal liability on the part of at t because it shows they were really casting a wide net. Thats not to say that, again, alex, it is certainly unseemly but it has been going on in this country for years. That bribery statute. What has to be the case. What federal prosecutors has to show is there a direct connection, a direct link to that money and an official act like choosing not to block the at t time warner deal which did not happen. Rudy giuliani said its likely the president will not be interviewed by robert mueller, if interviewed at all until the summit on june 12th. He has also told the ap that he doesnt expect mueller to interview any family members not jared or ivanka. Do you agree with him . Rudy giuliani does not get to decide how this investigation goes. He said he would wrap this thing up in a couple weeks. Thats just not how things work. We know giuliani now thinks he changed his thinking to believe that a sitting president cannot be subpoenaed to testify in front of the grand jury. That simply is not the case. All of the legal precedent certainly points to there being strong legal arguments for why a president could be subpoenaed. That is not to say that they wont voluntarily interview. But, again, mueller has the subpoena power at thiz disposal. I will point out that it could take a while to sort of get a ruling, ultimate ruling especially if it goes up to the supreme court. Time is on sort of giulianis side when he talks about sort of a bargaining tool here. He tried really hard to circumscribe the scope of any voluntary investigation saying it could only last two or three hours and we can only discuss these certain types of questions. Thats just not necessarily how its going to go down if mueller doesnt feel like he will get all the information he needs. Caroline, thank you for your insights. See you again. A new book on the russia investigation explores whether President Trump is either hiding something when it comes to the kremlin or was duped by soviet union yet state craft. Seth, youve got a lot of details in this book here. Have you figured out whether there was any sort of collusion between donald trump and russia . Lets take that january 9th, 2016 meeting in trump tower where don jr. Has a group of russians june. June of 2016, don jr. Has a group of russians coming in, hes told its a russian attorney and they have dirt on an opponent and he says love it. Thats welcome on any campaign. People want to get that information. Is it just because it was coming from russia . It want just an isolated event. I think thats what we need to do is pack up a bit and look at the context here. There were repeated attempts to get their foot in the door in the trump campaign. They kept knocking on the door and the reason they did is because the door was opening. They westbouanted a back door relationship with russia. Why . Are you implying there was more than just dirt going on with Hillary Clinton . You have relationships with russia and people around him that go back decades. This isnt a new development here, that these are relationships that go back to the 1980s even. You have a quote from fusion gps founder glenn simpson. As we got deeper and deeper into understanding, you know, Donald Trumps Business Career and his history, it seems there was a connection with organized crime. Is that about money . In the 80s there was a group of russian criminals running a lucrative gas tax scam. The interesting thing is donald trump found them and got them to invest in trump tower and got them to buy a block of amounts for 6 million. That was trumps entry into the world. So is it clear that donald trump knew this was criminal money or just that it there were a bunch of russians that had a lot of money that they didnt know what to do with by your description so lets maybe swing it my way was his thought . Maybe initially he didnt know but donald trump never wants to know. He takes your money is he playing dumb . He just doesnt want to know. Yeah, playing dumb you could say. But i think after a while he knew. He had relationships with people who had criminal convictions. It was pretty obvious they were dealing with a criminal element here. You also wrote this article for Rolling Stone about the president s personal attorney Michael Cohen and the law practice and the fact that some of his Auto Insurance clients were indicted on fraud charges. Right. Is that more of the same of what youre talking about here . I believe it is. Before Michael Cohen joined the Trump Organization, he was running these sleazy personal injury cases with people deliberately crashing cars into each other. That was a scam that was being run in new york by the russian mafia. And they still dominate this and theyve just gotten better at it. Again, what we see with cohen as we see with trump is theres russian criminal connections to his past. What my sources tell me, thats how he got into the Trump Organization is through these connections. It is a most interesting concept were discussing and i want to thank you for joining me. The book is trump russia, a definitive history. Next, he was going to a waffle house and what prompted calls for action.
