Good evening, im Natasha Brown. Thanks for joining us. Flash flood warnings are in effect as we speak. Lets get right over to meteorologist lauren casey in our Weather Center with more on this dangerous weather. Lauren. Thanks, not shah. Yeah, scary situation in parts of Mercer County as we have been dealing with steady rainfall and rainfall that is heavy at Times Leading to that flash flood event ongoing right now. Storm scan3 showing us most of the activity in and along the i95 corridor and points westward. Rainfall intensity is starting to pick up. This sloop three hours long so you can see that rain coming down steadily throughout that loop, time frame so were just piling up the rain at this point. This is Mercer County right here. The rain continuing to fall and the intensity starting to pick up a little bit in trenton up into the princeton area where we have seen that flooding. So far rainfall totals in the last three hours around parts of Mercer County up to five plus inches of rainfall and our doppler estimates thats why we have this Flash Flood Warning in effect for Mercer County until 10 15. Princeton is included within this warning. So its a really good time to just stay off the roads hang inside. West Windsor Township also under a flash flood emergency right now. That warning extending down to lawrence as well. As we well have this flash flooding concern over the next several hours. Never drive into flooded road wales. It only takes 6inches of fast moving water to knock down an adult and 12inches of water will float most vehicles. Remember turn around, dont drown. And we are going to see rain continuing to fall. The rain swath is going to spread east as we head into the next couple hours. Rainfall intensity will likely increase a bit in philadelphia and along the i95 corridor again as we push into the evening hours, some showers will approach the shore which has been mainly dry through the day today. We could see additional rainfall totals of about one to 2inches in some locations across the Delaware Valley and of course that will yield more street and possibly creek flooding so well talk about this situation and when well finally start to dry things out in your full forecast in a couple minutes. Lauren well see you soon. Fast rising flood waters caught some drivers by surprise stranding them inside their cars. Trang do was in west windsor Mercer County right now which is getting some of the worst of the rain right now. Trang. Reporter yeah, natasha, things rainwise have slowed down quite a bit allowing much of the flood waters to recede and im told here by people who have been driving by and just Walking Around getting out of their cars that this right here where we are off of alexander road is the worst of the flooding right here in west Windsor Township right now. Just minutes ago before you guys came to us we saw a car on the back of a tow truck actually its coming right back, i guess theres flood waters down the street that way. Here it is coming right back. There were two stranded cars, still one stranded carr in the road and you can see the other on the back of that tow truck. And this is the scene here across west windsor and in Mercer County in general, we he did see some videos that a viewer his name is Jason Beckett he posted onion to onto in his parking lot. This is a office park that we can take shelter off of alexander road where you can see the road is completely covered in a ton of water and every time, you know, cars try to drive by this water just kind of floods in. Like were at the beach and theres also been some cars that have taken shelter in this office park along with us. I talked to a woman who she said she spent an hour in this office park just waiting for the flood waters to recede. I pulled over. I didnt wander to drive through the water. I just saw traffic in route one and i saw some water before. It was moving too quickly so i pulled off the road. Reporter and shes not the only one. You can see this car over here. Theyve been here since weve been here just hanging out in their cars but before we let you go lets look over here back onto alexander road. Theres a new Jersey Transit bus try to traverse through the water. Not sure if thats a great idea right now, this intersection here alexander road and washington up there is closed this intersection as they try to remove these stranded cars. You can see that one stranded car right at the intersection but again as lauren mentioned, this area is under a flood watch until 10 15. So, people are just going to be really, really busy out here First Responders rather, just a lot going on here natasha. Back to you in the studio. Really have to be careful out there. Thank you so much, trang. A hot air balloon meantime carrying 16 passengers crashes in central texas. Authorities say the balloon caught fire before crashing into a pasture. Cbs correspondent Omar Villafranca has more. Reporter investigators surveyed a gruesome scene saturday morning. What was left after a hot air balloon loaded with passengers caught fire and plunged to the earth. A woman who lives nearby saw the aftermath from her front porch. I heard one pop before i stepped out the door. And then i heard another pop and im looking around to see who is shooting because it sounded like a gun going off. And then i looked off over there and the next thing i know you saw a big fire ball go up. Reporter Margaret Wiley says she often sees hot air balloons flying in the air and that the same Company Involved in the accident identified as heart of texas hot air balloon rides had what she called a close call in a neighbors field about a year and a half ago. She said it was foggy early in the morning but that the haze had mostly cleared. She believes the popping noises she heard were the balloon hitting high voltage power lines located just above the crash scene. The way it went up i dont think any of them even had any idea what was going onism a team of investigators from the National Transportation safety board out of washington will try to determine what went wrong. They hm treat this area like a crime scene. You only get one chance at it so we want to make sure we do everything correctly. Reporter Governor Greg Abbott said in a statement hes asking all of texas to join in prayers for the loss. Omar villafranca for cbs3 Eyewitness News. A plane that originated in new york city makes a Emergency Landing in toronto after smoke filled the cabin. Passengers were evacuated from the American Eagle flight after it touched down safely. Five delaware teenagers are facing felony charges for allegedly breaking into a Sporting Goods store and stealing 27 handguns. Police say the teens smashed their way into artemis outfitters on kennett pike in greenville in the Early Morning hours of july 22nd. Police were able to link the stolen guns to these five teenaged suspects thanks to a shooting that happened just a day later in wilmington. Its still not clear tonight if all of the weapons have been recovered. And a woman is struck in the head by a stray bullet while sitting inside her own kensington home. This happened in the 700 block of east willard street. A witness on scene tells Eyewitness News the bullet that struck the woman came through a window from a house across the street. Police say the bullet ricocheted off her wall and hit her in the head. The woman was rushed to the hospital where she is currently listed as being stable. And now we are learning more information that it may have been road rage that likely sparked a phony traffic stop in Montgomery County as the search for the man impersonating an officer does continue. This white van started flashing police style lights while stopping a car near church and brent roads in oreland on tuesday. Of course the event featured plenty of music lots of dancing. Vendors were on hand as well offering antique items for sale. Very nice. Im glad folks were able to get there before the downpour. Yeah, of course, i had to walk through the downpour but no worries on that. Thanks a lot mother nature. We did have some periods of try weather today, even some sunshine in center city but now that has all fade add weigh. All behind us. Behind us. Soggy looking scene. A live look right now well get a live look where we are seeing try weather, ocean city, beachgoers are like whats the problem . What rainfall . We havent seen any so far but you do see those clouds looming there in the scene and the rain is headed towards the coast as we head into the next couple of hours and we definitely have rain on the scene right now as we get a live look at center city philadelphia. Roadways are slick, low clouds are looming, rain coming down. Light in intensity at this time but as we head into the next couple hours well see our rain full intensity start to pick up. We have rain cooled air in place, 76 degrees right now with a calm wind. Checking in on our live Neighborhood Network check out this rainfall total so far in princeton. Over five and half inches of rainfall and this is just in the last several hours. Incredible. So we are still dealing with there flash flooding threat. Bethlehem a hearty total as well closing in on an inch and a half and reading pick up over an inch and a quarter of rainfall and the rain continues to fall in these areas and the rainfall intensity is picking up. On storm scan3 were noticing increasing pockets of yellow and red noting that heavier rainfall coming down right now across portions of berks county up into Montgomery County, bucks county as well, Lehigh Valley, rainfall intensity becoming more moderate as opposed to light and across portions of Mercer County we dont want to see this in and around the princeton area rainfall intensity is picking up and the rain is steady and we have more rain to contend with as we head into the next couple hours. More moderate pocket of rainfall working itself over center city philadelphia. The shore is dry as it has been throughout the day today but we are going to see this widespread rain swath slowly move its way eastbound over the next several hours continuing that rain threat. Again, we have this Flash Flood Warning in effect until 10 15 for portions of Mercer County and overnight tonight areas of rain embedded thunderstorms, down to 74 degrees. And more rain in the forecast for tomorrow. Breaks of sunshine and scattered storms redeveloping especially as we head into the second half of the day. Humid with a High Temperature at 88. Future weather showing us whats in store as we head into the evening hours. And that is much more rainfall as that swath spreads its way eastbound but still maintaining pockets of rainfall across our western counties as well and in and along the i95 corridor. Things will start to taper back a bit into the second half of the overnight period but even into early tomorrow morning, we still could see some hit or miss thundershowers lingering around across parts of the area especially in and around philadelphia and surrounding counties. So, for tomorrow, a hit or miss thunderstorm in the morning. Then i think we will have a dry period late morning into early afternoon with some sunshine breaking out but that will destabilize us. We have a stalled boundary in place so well see scattered storms redeveloping into the afternoon and continuing into the evening hours once again. But at least we have some rain cooled air. Thats the one nice thing. 76 degrees in philly, low 70s in the Lehigh Valley where we havent seen the rain down the shore, temperatures stim around 80 degrees and it is definitely muggy. Dewpoints way elevated up there into the 70s and we are going to be dealing with these humid conditions as we head into the next couple of days but ironically as we kick off the seconds day of august, the humidity levels are going to drop back and well finally dry out as we head into tuesday but wet weather in store for down the shore and the poconos tomorrow. High temperatures topping in the middle 70s in the poconos. We keep it in the upper 80s on monday in philadelphia with some spotty storms still in the forecast but by tuesday, wednesday and thursday, looking and feeling much better, ringing ourselves out. Comfortable conditions High Temperatures in there 80s with a lot of sunshine so something to look forward to but kind of touch and go over the next several hours. Boy, ringing myself out, thats exactly what ive been doing actually. I think my feet are still wet. Thank you lauren. Appreciate it. Do i see he a familiar face. We have been waiting for this moment, natasha. Yes. Its a big news out of Training Camp one of the greatest eagles of all time back in the nest after a bitter departure in 2009, Brian Dawkins rejoined the franchise. Hell be working with the teams scouting department. He he spent 13 years with the eagles. His resume is impressive eight pro bowls, the franchise lead intergames played and inter exceptions. Its not just scouting. Im trying to grasp the whole gambit of Football Operations of how a team is run. Im learning about the scouting part of it, how the terminology and all those things but sometimes its either you have an eye or you dont and ive been believed to have an eye to be able to see talent so if i can help in some that respect, love to do that but also i want to learn everything about running a football team. Back in january calling him and asking him again to be part of it, always trying to get him here and because hes got such a bright future, hes got such a great football mind and a great presence and leadership ability which translates to the front office. Meanwhile the pads finally on at practice at a after months of seeing the birds run in shorts this was a real football practice. They practiced for about three hours. One of the strengths of the team so far this season is the defense but after the first day in pads defensive coordinator jim schwartz says they have a long way to go. Teamwork can trump individual play. I think if were doing our job in Training Camp if our players are responding well in the scheme, if we have a scheme that matches the players, youll see the sum should be greater than the individual parts. Were not there yet. Believe me were not there yet. Now to baseball phillies and braves just under way. Before the allstar break the phillies offense was hot averaging five runs. Since the break theyve been in a funk covering under three runs again. Jeremy hellickson on the mound for the phillies. This could be his last name as a philly. Couple teams have expressed interest in him. Trade deadline is monday at 4 oclock. Another phillies pitch they are could be out of here is vince velasquez. Several members of the Texas Rangers were on hand last night to watch vince give up two runs in a two run loss. The rangers have a great farm system. Remember last season they traded cole hamels to texas in return the fightans got several good prospects including pitcher jerad eickhoff. Third round of the pga championship hampered by rain. Storms came through around 2 oclock and brought play to a halt. Only 37 players finished their rounds. Coleaders jimmy walker never got off the course. Play will resume tomorrow at 7 00 a. M. We have to talk to lauren about this rain. Are they ever going to get to play. Welcome back. One of the biggest musikfest values in the country it is well under way this weekend. Louisianalmost a hundred thousas are expected to pack the park. Headliners include the red hot chilly peppers janes addiction and radio head. This is the who do you talk to for military advice right now . Im Hillary Clinton and i approved this message. Well, i watch the shows. I mean i really see a lot of great you know, when you watch your show and all of the other shows. While donald trump watched tv, as secretary of state, Hillary Clinton negotiated a cease fire in gaza. A reduction in nuclear weapons. Took on vladimir putin. And stood up against the trafficking of human beings. A steady leader in an unsteady world. Lauren so keep the umbrella handy. Keep the umbrella. We have that Flash Flood Warning in effect for Mercer County until 10 15 this evening. More rain in the forecast tomorrow. We could see storms in the morning and then more storm activity in the afternoon and evening. Spotty storms monday. Tuesday, wednesday and thursday to start the first week of august well look and feel pretty nice. Very nice. Thank you very much lauren. Thats going to do it for us tonight.
