Although that is low it looks like we will have risk for strong gusty winds. Philadelphia gears up for big flower show there is always a first sign of spring we will get a taste of spring from the the flower show. Joseph the protect or Elementary School in glenside. This year they hosted the junior flower show competition a program, that mimics the big flower show in philadelphia. And, put on by the pennsylvania horticultural society. The junior flower show is a program that phs sponsors, and we go out to area schools, and introduce children to horticultural and natural environment. Reporter st. Joseph protecter principal dawn perry how did all of this come about we were approached by the Philadelphia Horticultural Society as well as the connolly foundation, and they provided an offer to grant, to have us participate in the junior flower show. Everybody wanted to participate. I dont think there was any class left out. Reporter more than 400 students took inspiration from the Philadelphia Flower Show theme holland flowering the world. What was the inspiration behind it. Well, i went to holland back in march of last year, and i dont know, it is basically exactly what i saw. Reporter with the seed of inspiration planted these budding artists created both artistic, natural forms of the expression to compete for best in show. We have had craft i creatures made out of pine cones, natural material, we have had color wheel, photography, we have had a variety of things in the artistic side. On the horticultural side we had some tarariums which was really great. It is always amazing me what the kids come up with. It is remarkable. Reporter it wasnt only judges that were impressed by what these kids could create from nature, the kids were too i think they were just amazed at what they could come up w they were surprised that was art too. Reporter i could also mention that best in show winners from today will have their pieces displayed in the Philadelphia Flower Show, so all of you can see as you go flower show starts march 10th, and todays event also supported the schools exciting new endeavor to build on campus greenhouse.
