The penalty stems from dozens of gifts given to the District Attorney over a fiveyear period. Good evening, im ukee washington. Im jessica dean. Reporter well, jessica, ukee ethics board said it negotiated with Seth Williams and his attorney to reached that 62,000 penalty, they say , it is a financial hit, they are confident that it send a strong message. It is just a scale have of this is significant. Reporter philadelphia ethics board on tuesday leveled a significant and sizable fine, against District Attorney Seth Williams. Williams was said to have cooperated in reaching the settlement, with the ethics board. It comes with a 62,000 fine, for failing to disclose on financial interests statements , five sources of income, and 89 gifts according to the paperwork. Shayne creamer is executive director of the board. This is the largest, penalty that the board has ever assessed against an individual. It is the largest fine anyone has ever been required to pay. Reporter williams was also find 2,840 for additional gifts given by Defense Attorneys quoting the board who had a financial interest that the the District Attorney was able to substantially affect through official action at the time that they gave the gifts. Seth williams first found himself on the city watch dog s radar in the summer when he disclosed five years worth of those gifts. A spokesmen at the time said they were from close family friend.
