I spoke to two maintenance workers who actually made the discovery. They said from the appearance of that heavy duty belt with wires protruding from it they were absolutely compelled to call police. That call went out to 911 just after 9 00 oclock this morning. Now as a result, Temple School of Engineering Building at 12th and norris was evacuated, and about a dozen classes were halted. Police shut down the area while they investigated to determine exactly what they were dealing with. The bomb squad did detonate that belt and ran tests that determined no trace of explosi explosives. Its a thick, very thick belt of commercial grade possibly military style had some wires coming out of it. So definitely suspicious. We then evacuated the building. One confirmed tornado damage at least 30 homes. Home surveillance cameras captured that storms destruction near dallas. The storms packed hail and high winds and tour roofs right off homes. Other homes were leveled. More than 30,000 people were without power last night. Search part of the country many residents are that wassing out from this icy et mess. Incredible pictures in iowa two men survived when their truck crashed into a frozen lake. A layer of ice cover the community of dodge city kansas bringing coated tree branches to the ground and knocking out power lines it could take utility crews days before they can get power back on for thousands. Pretty shot yesterday on cbs evening news they had pretty aerial shot of cap can it looked beautiful but a mess on the road. Think about the weight of that ice. Of course it will bring everything down. Yes. Ice storms to me any way are some of the worst we have to deal with. But certainly not a major ice threat here we did have freezing rain issues actually freezing rain advisory in some parts of the poconos has been extended well get to you that information here in second. But we have seen some light rain rolling through our area now for the last couple of hours. The Early Morning was kind of spotty in nature was really outside of philadelphia to the north and off to the south we epped up with any rain now its kind of overtaking the radar as we had anticipated. Let me take outside first and for most to a couple of different camera shots well start things off here outside in ocean city where the boards are wet and the sand is wet not the prettiest beach day obviously but it is just rain here. Just rain in the steve philadelphia too. Too much warmth in place at the moment to support anything but rain. But if you go far enough off to the north a different story. So that brings in our next camera shot. There should be a mountain in the background. Clearly the fog has settled in low enough its making for poor visibility. But there was a lot more snow on the ground as of earlier this morning so thats had a chance to not just get washed away but also melt away here outside Pleasant Valley middle and high school. This is one spot in particular as we take you next to that freezing rain advisory that could still have some icing issues. Up until 7 00 oclock tonight Monroe County specifically is going to continue to be included here for that freezing rain advisory please keep that in mind traveling out and about here the rest of the day up that way could still be a little dicey. Looking at the localized zoom, a little bit of lull for some of us. We had round that rolled right over our station headquarters in the last hour or two here in philadelphia. And the rain continues to roll in and the scattered fashion this is all warm front related so the temperature will only continue to climb here. Even though technically cold front is going to sweep past us it doesnt knock the temperatures back all that much. Now, there is another storm system thats starting to move on shore right now, those poor folks out in the west United States another major storm moving on in. Eventually that will cross the country too and bring us another round of rain, but for now this is the big ticket item in terms of any kind of wet weather. And behind the rain that weve got today expect the temperature to rebound nicely despite a left over shower and passage avenue cold front moderate up to 54 degrees and keep the 50s from that point forward. Yeah, through the rest of the seven day. Friday thursday looks like really nice day. High pressure will yield to another system as we mentioned moving its way in. That lead to additional showers at it looks like later in the day on friday. An interesting statistic. We only gotten obviously 17 days into the year 2017 let alone the month. Nine of those 17 days have already had measurable rain. The total isnt all that impressive. Its only just shy of 1. 4inches or so. We do technically still have rainfall deficit. Think it was interesting here we have actually had about half the month so far with measurable rain. Two of those days we had to account for snow equivalent to liquid regardless starting the year off on sort of a wet note out there. At least dreary note. Current wind speeds are nice and light. Dont worry about your umbrella flipping out. You will find again showers lasting us through the rest of the day. Keeping the temperatures with a clouds and rain somewhat at bay but were already above by a few degrees. Whats typical for this day of the year. 42, 40, kind of up and down on i95 and expecting to rebound to about 45 before it is all said and done. Now, tomorrow is the mild defendant day at least for the neck several days of the pack here. It does look to me like thursday will be the nicer of the next few days. By friday again that next system moving in bringing in more clouds and eventually some more rain as the home show is getting underway for the second weekend here, but six of the next seven days are at least 10 degrees above average thats what gets me. I mean this warmth just keeping oncoming. Gift that keeps on giving. I love it. [ laughter ] katie, well be right back. Were still going. Just kidding. All right. Oh, jeez.
