The start to this long weekend was slowed down, a little bit by a truck fire on the pennsylvania turnpike this morning. Chopper three was right here over the eastbound Delaware Valley exit in Bristol Township bucks county where a truck caught fire before 5 30 a. M. There was a huge backup for hours and turnpike closed the highway at bensalem. No one was hurt but the turnpike is actually still block at this hour. Search continues this noon for driver who hit and killed a man in kensington last night and kept on going. Earlier this week in the northeast a father on his way home from work, this time, a man who had just left church, a volunteer, Philadelphia Police say around 10 00 p. M. Thursday the victim was dropping off a church group here at front and diamond street. At the rehab facility. When he went to get into this white dodge van, Authorities Say a dark colored sedan traveling northbound on front street, hit the victim, dragging him about 20 feet, and then just kept going. Family members tells us the victim is 57 yearold elijah leon. Police released photos late friday morning of the car that likely hit leon or what that car would likely look like. It is a saab, between 1998 2008 model. Leons older brother told us the victim, who is a preacher, and a guy that would give you literally the shirt off his back. National Hurricane Center just put out their forecast for 2016 season in the atlantic basin. This is what we are calling for, ten to 16 named storms, four of eight of which will be hurricanes and one to four of which will be major hurricanes, in other wards a category three or greater. This is near average but there are different factors in short leading this to be somewhat of a difficult forecast, this year. There are a lot of factors that are making it go one way or the other. Regardless though we have already had, alex, the first storm of the season. That happened back in january, never ended up, affecting the east coast of the you had but didnt even come close but now we have an area of low pressure starting to develop and at this point this area of the disturbed weather between bermuda and bahamas is making a beeline to the carolinas. The it will bring in rain to that area by memorial day but 90 percent to see this develop within the next few days and next day on the list, if it was a named list tell would be bonnie. I dont expect any direct impact here but we will see an impact which we will get to. Off to the west we have a lot of storminess going on across the central plains, more of the same, essentially here, but for us, the big story lately has been the heat, now this is all common sense type stuff.
