This comes one day after another, sewer line broke on hartford road. That one has been repaired. Fbi is investigating the ambush shooting of a Philadelphia Police officer as an act of terror. This noon we are learning more from police and lawmakers about the case. Eyewitness News Reporter walt hunter joins us live from Police Headquarters to explain for us, walt, good afternoon. Reporter good afternoon, top Law Enforcement officials, politicians, everyone speaking out one week after officer Jesse Hartnett was gunned down in an ambush. That includes james comby the director of the fbi scheduled for a press conference at 3 00. Only cbs3 cameras were there at penn Presbyterian Hospital this morning where officer hartnett is recovering from three bullet wound from his arm and the fbi director and Police Commissioner richard ross both went into the the hospital to pay a ten minute visit to the wounded officer. They even talk after leaving so we dont know what word if any they exchanged with hartnett who remains in the intensive care unit the but comby will be speaking later on this afternoon. It was late last thursday night that the officer was gunned down at 60th and spruce streets in West Philadelphia in what police are calling an ambush attack. The suspect in that attack edward arch as rested allegedly confessing and saying that it was related to his motives related to the Islamic State. That has prompted a lot of controversy, and a lot of investigating in the wake of the shooting, including questions about whether archer had links to anyone else, or whether anyone other a attacks might be planned. Fail police doubling up in two man police cars. This morning there were comments on this by the the senator, by pat toomey, and we have those comments which just came in a short time ago. It is just appalling a attack is a vivid reminder of the danger that the the men and women who wear the the Police Uniforms around the country face on a daily basis. Radical islamic terrorism are not limited to countries far way. It is not just civil wars that are raging in the middle east or attacks against civilianness paris, beirut, jakarta but attacks against americans at fort hood and san bernardino, and now philadelphia. Reporter you may recall, that last weekend, a day or two after the attack on officer hartnett, at a anonymous informant told Philadelphia Police that the danger was not over and that there were at least three other suspects, potentially, more dangerous who might be involved. That investigation has been ongoing, but sources have told cbs3 so far there is no link between archer to anyone else, and this morning Police Commissioner richard ross asked about that, had this comment. Well, part of the problem is that we havent gotten a lot of movement. We are still with archer really havent linked him to anyone else right now. We know of that tip that was given. It was somewhat credible but still no real link to other individual other than identifying people that he may know. So right now archer remains behind bars, held without bail, the director of the fbi holding a press conference at 3 00 this afternoon. Just moment ago here at Police Headquarters the mayor of philadelphia james kenney, along with senator robert casey, both arriving. They are now meeting with the Police Commissioner and they will speak out within the next 45 minutes. Two Philadelphia Police officers are recovering this noon after a violent crash involving an alleged drunk driver. The the 20 yearold driver is in custody after after police say he slammed in the officers at the intersection of the b street and west moreland and fair hill late last night. The the driver tried to runaway from the officers, but he didnt get very far. Not only was he under the influence of alcohol but he also, had a suspended drivers license, so that is more than likely yes fled from police, ran four blocks, and then actually for the with the police who had to take him into custody. The the officers were in plainclothes, and were driving an unmarked car at the time of that crash. The driver is facing at least two charges, dui and resisting arrest. All of the yours are none in life threatening. Police want to know what prompted vandalism in the holmesberg section of philadelphia neighbors woke up to this scene this morning. Windows and windshields smashed, on several cars, near luring and ditman streets. It is a half dozen vehicles that were targeted. Police were called and a suspect was arrested nearby.
