The guys we send what we sent out to the officers was another reminder that this is directed at Law Enforcement personnel, so were encouraging officers when theyre on the posts, tv stations they be more vigilant than they might ordinarily be. This video is pretty specific what theyre asking their supporters to do. Rise up and commit violence against not only officers but civilians too. What is your biggest concern . There are a number of people in the process of being radicalized. Something like this can be the last straw to move them forward. We saw that with the individual who attacked our officers with the hatchet. Theyre continuing to work to contract more recruits. Theyre extraordinarily skilled with their Public Relations campaign, if you will. Much more so than the traditional al qaeda operatives. Its a real concern. So officers are being told not to sit in the car together at the same time, have one outside the car if possible to look for peoples hands when people walk up to them . What were actually talking about is when we have officers on the fix posts we want them to be vigilant to protect themselves and the public. So if both are sitting in the cab and theyre busy texting away or are not paying attention to the surrounding area theyre much more vulnerable to attack. So its something we continually try to drive home to our officers that this is real. This is real and we need to be constantly vigilant. One is the question of how serious you take the threat which you said you have to take it seriously. The second, how many people are you watching. How do you keep up with all the people you might be . One of the great strengths is we have over a thousand people as well as other detectives that can be brought in. To surveil an individual on a 24hour basis requires dozens of officers. You dont want them to know youre watching them. You have to have rotating teams so they dont realize youre watching them. Its labor intensive. Were one of the few departments that can do it because of the sheer size of the department. Indonesian authorities now say early analysis suggests cabin pressure caused the plane to explode when it hit the water. Theyre beginning the process of tapping into one of the planes black boxes. Indonesian searchers now have one of the boxes signaling the first breakthrough into what caused the plane to crash. They recovered the box from below the surface of the sea, one day after sonar picked up pings. Found under the planes wick it will provide altitude and speed at the time of the crash. Crews are working to recover the second black box which will reveal the conversation between the pilots. They have pointed to severe thunderstorms as a possible factor in the crash two weeks ago. Rough waters and low visibility are making search for answers slow and difficult, but progress has been made in recrennel days. On saturday a large pork of the planes tail was brought to the surface. The most challenging task is the heavy underwater current and strong ways. Crews also recovering additional plane debris including pieces of the nej over the weekend. We always have known thats been an aspirational goal and now were starting to see it carried out. From the european context whats complicated it is the amount of foreign fighters who have left europe, gone to iran and iraq, fought alongside isis and then gone back to europe. These individuals have basically been raised in france. We saw an incredible unity in france, nearly 4 Million People. What Elizabeth Palmer said was the largest march in frances history. You saw World Leaderses from from abbas to cameron to merkel. But not the president do. You think thats something . Eric holder was in paris and maybe john kerry should have gone or somebody else or a plethora of people. I would think in hindsight i would hope they would do it differently. What do you think we missed . An opportunity to stand with other World Leaders and therefore that puts us youre reporting on it this morning and so are others around the world. Especially at times of such great pain youre accused. We were called after 9 11. All these nations called and took our side after we suffered so greatly. One of the reasons i feel so strongly is because of the threat that this poses. In fact, it is easier to disrupt the plot of 25 people than it is to plot of one or two or three and to do that youve got to have all these tools at your disposal. I think to answer your question we do as good as we can with the programs we have to diminish those programs what its gathering intelligence or monitoring activities on jihadist websites. You need to increase. Well, not only do we need to increase them but we need to challenge them. Every time theres a discloseuredisclosure every time theres a report on a disclosure made by snowden or someone else they adjust what they do. They say were going to stop doing that use a different carrier or method o of communication. They have to constantly adjust to that. Its a real challenge. No one should understand state what a big, big challenge this is moving forward. So the white house is going to hold this terror summit. What do you expect will come of that . Hopefully an opportunity to educate the American People even further owner the nature of threat and how difficult it is to identify this threat and stop them because were still thinking in light of 9 11. The spectacular attack somebody crashes a plane into a building. That could very well happen. But these sorts, some inspired by al qaeda or isis not trained by them. My parents did isntnt have a cell phone. There are millions who feel like the American Dream is slipping out of reach and as a nation thats problematic because it undermines our ability as nation. Jeb bush, you saw a lot of reports, hes going to raise over 100 million, and i think he can certainly do that and will in the next few months. Theyll be very formidable candidates. I honestly if youre committed to a policy agenda and no one else is speaking to the policies you believe in irrespeckive offer who else is in the race you do it. If i decide the best place for me to serve america at this time in my life aisle run for president and im confident we can put together a campaign that makes us competitive and allows us to win. They released the 53 prisoners. Thats great news but unfortunately we dont know who they are. Its been kept secret. My understanding is many of them were at the end of their terms and all of them have been warned if they take up the cause of democracy theyll be back in jail. Whats forgotten is the cuban government has arrested thousands. 53 versus the thousands over the weekend they rounded up some other 100 people because they planned to go tothe Public Square and speak of freedom and democracy. In return, of those 53 and i dont mean to diminish it, the cubans are getting what they want from the obama administration. I dont have a problem changing the policies in cuba but i think it has to be a reciprocal change. Some argue that if in fact cuba is opened up it will change. Did vietnam changed . It did not challenge, nor did china. It changed sure, but my interest is i think People Living in the Free Democratic order can choose whatever they want. I wouldnt recommend socialism, but they can choose it. My interest in cuba is freedom and democracy and theres no contemporary example of a country with a resistant tierney that an economic challenge is open. China is as tyrannical and oppressive as it has ever been, even more so. Even vietnam and burma has suddenly backtracked on some of the changes and openings they promised to make. My belief is that the cuban government will pocket all of these changes to benefit the regime which completely controls the economy, but it has made it clear there will be no political changes on the island of cuba and theres no example of how a tyranny is open to change.
