She is bringing strong winds and heavy rain as it moves through North Carolina and virginia this morning. Forecasters predict it could morning. Vida urbonas has more from the information center. There are Tropical Storm watches and warnings in place along the eastern seaboard from georgia to connecticut. The storm surge of nine feet covered 22 inches of rain, left streets and homes flooded. The weathers channel Reynolds Wolf was there during the worst of it. Unbelievable. We could see more of that today. There is a look at i70 and Lookout Mountain there. The backups will get busier. Keeping traffic flowing even when there is an accident. There is a new Incident Management Team in the high country that will work to make sure police, firefighters, and tow trucks are working together. When we started getting the backups and we have got these cues, drivers that are unaware can drive right into the back of these cues and thats when we have more problems. Each of the command team that will be used to push damaged vehicles to the side of the road as soon as possible to get traffic flowing again on a busy i70. This morning a Douglas County sheriffs detective is recovering in Critical Condition after a shootout in parker. Police say it started with a call about a suicidal man Walking Around with a rifle yesterday. The man started shooting at he drove away in an rv. There was a chase. It came to a crashing stop a half mile away outside parker adventist hospital. The suspect was shot and killed there. A surreal experience for parents who waited in fear. Students were told to hide under their desks. You hear about this on the news, about these schools and these shootings. Until you experience it yourself with your own child, it doesnt resonate. Detective brite is now out of surgery and continuing to recover. Its an intersection that now reminds a family of a 14 yearold boy they lost to a drunk driver in july. Cole sukle, his family dedicated a sign in his honor at the intersection of yale and madison. That is where an 81yearold woman hit and killed sukle in july. We have seen tweets from our sister station in dallas saying dakota. Meteorologists were saying the radius for the tremors of this earthquake surrounded around 750 miles. So a lot of people felt this and are requesting exactly what happened this morning. We are told this earthquake lasted for right around 1 minute 30 seconds. Thats a long one. Yeah. The biggest concern today is the potential for dangerous flooding in the virginia tidewater area. Hermine is continuing to make its way offshore. Experts fear this could mean even more coastal flooding and strong winds not only in virginia, but parts of the east coast. Several homes in florida have already been damaged. 7 34. In the high country a few storms developing towards the san juans. Those storms will be pushing from the southwest to the northeast, and i think the timing for the storms here in the metro area will be anywhere between 3 to about 7 p. M. After that the storms wrap up for us and they start working their way into northeast colorado, and its there where they could turn severe. Large hail, damaging winds, heavy rain, nt all in the cards if you live in northeastern coloradoand the Eastern Plains. Overnight skies are partly cloudy for us and then areas of patchy fog could develop. The horses have been reunited with their owner after a billly goat straight up opened their gate and let them out. The goat sir lancelot helping the out. The goat is known as lance, for short. Station in dallas that this could be felt in numerous states ranging from north dakota to texas. We are told that this spans around 750 miles. Tremors could be felt that far away. And a lasted roughly 94 seconds. You know, we actually even got emails from some folks in colorado saying they thought they felt some kind of tremor there. We dont know if thats true. We are trying to confirm that information this morning. Yeah, folks out east definitely say they well see. And you see all these photos coming in right now. Thats a supermarket. He crashed a half a mile away outside of killed. The school was placed on lockdown. A surreal experience for parents who were waiting in fear as students say they were told to hide under their desks. Other parents were hearing that their students were told to stay down while teachers were guarding the doors with continuing to recover. A major announcement from the fda could impact millions of american household. They banned more than a dozen chemicals in antibacterial soaps. More than 2100 products are impacted. Thats 40 of the soap and body washes on the market. Evidence that adding these chemicals to plain soap and water does any better at preventing infections or spreading germs. Researchers believe the soaps could pose a risk. The fda is most concerned about liquid soaps that contain two specific chemicals that could speed up drugresistant bacteria and even interfere with estrogen and testosterone levels. Basically, these chemicals can be endocrine disrupters. They can mess with the American Cleaning institute though insists antibacterials are safe. The fda is not suggesting that you throw out your antibacterials. Just dont buy any more. Hand sanitizers, by the way, not part of this ban. Only antibacterial liquid soaps.
