Reporter frank, julie, youre talking about 200 to 300 yards from where we are standing. As you said fire crews were able to successfully save it. Behind me there are still some crews down here working. The reason being because of this. Let me show you over here. You can see some glows right there, where the fire is burning at this hour because the fire is only 25 contained. Now crews say it started just about after 4 00 this afternoon in the 6100 block of dry creek road in napa county about three miles west of yountville. Crews battled the 50acre fire, which was killed by a lot of dry brush in the area. However crews were able to make great progress because of change in the weather pattern. Fire investigators say that 85 to 95 humidity with little wind helped them gain ground. That weather will help play a role overnight as crews are dealing with steep brush and vegetation. The hand crews are cutting the line right now. We had dozers out here, four dozers and it is really steep country. So it was difficult for the dozers to make good progress. We did as much as we could with them and now well tie all the pieces in between them with the lines. Reporter and as you can see right now, we came back out here live with a torch area going back out here live. You can see right there that spot was sparked just a few seconds ago hitting up pretty high. Thats the reason why those crews are going to stay throughout the night as they say they couldnt actually get the bulldozers into that area because of the steep terrain. Thats why the hand crews are out there working in that area. A lot of hot spots throughout the night. Thats why they would stay out here. Thankfully once again the weather will play a major world. There is also an Evacuation Center opened in napa earlier today. I will also say that fire crews today say that the people at this home did a great job of taking care of their brush around the area, which is also a note for people especially since the fire season is still ongoing. Frank . Paul chambers in napa county tonight, thank you. Now to our chief meteorologist bill martin. Fire crews told us that the cooler weather definitely helped them. Reporter thats what cal fire is saying right now on their blog. Theyre saying hey listen, the weather has cooled off. Theyre at 25 containment now. If this fire had started 48 hours ago or 36 hours ago we would be a different deal because we would have the three days of very warm above average temperatures. Right now things have cooled off quited a bit, as quite a bit as much as 10 to 15 degrees cooler in some places. The winds are out of the south at 6 bringing in cooler moisture air. Theres 73 humidity in this area. That is really high. The temperatures are just 57 degrees. Heres the deal, were right in the height of the fire season, but things are starting to change in our favor. Weve got weather systems out here. Were going to talk about them and have a good chance of bringing us rain by later on in this week. That could be the end for many in the north bay of the fire season. So when i come back, well talk about that and keep you updated on the fire as well. You can get weather conditions any time with the free fox 2 weather app. Youll also find updates from all of our meteorologists on facebook, twitter, and instagram. Now to the peninsula where three High School Students are facing charges after they threatened a terroristreich shooting at their school terroristlike shooting at their school. New at 10 00 tonight, ktvu is live at Mountain View high school after speaking to the principal. The school isnt taking this lightly. Reporter and julie, the Police Department isnt taking it lightly either. They arrested the upper classmen today. I spoke to some students today. They told me the sad part is that they called these kids bright kids with a Bright Future having a lot going for themselves. Now thats all up in the air. School is a place where kids should feel safe. On monday some students here at Mountainview High School felt unsafe and uneasy after three seniors posted a snapchat message threatening to shoot up the school. Why would they do this in the first place . Clearly theres going to be consequences with this. Its concerning as well. Reporter police say a student alerted authorities sunday night. They then interrogated the three juveniles at police headquarters, searched their homes and booked them for making threats as well as conspiracy to commit a crime. It was definitely alarming. It was something that made us immediately act and go in and make contact with them and like i said that you have to be very careful with what you say and how you say it on social media. Reporter the threats are not tied to the creepy clown incidents, but they take all threats seriously. The principal sent a letter to the School Community and beefed up security. We have increased Police Presence today that were on the perimeter of the school. More than that there doesnt appear to be a credible threat at this time. Reporter parents called it a warning and a wake up call. I was shocked to see it. Then i thought about if it actually did happen. That it did upset me. Reporter students say that the other snapchat message revealed that it was meant as a joke. Calling them leaders at the school. One of them ran for asp last year and one of them is like really a good senior, which is a top choir. And so it is just surprising to see how leaders can drop down like this. Reporter that student tells me he will now think twice about what he posts on social media. Parents telling me that they plan to talk to their children. And the Police Department says that these upper classmen, they could possibly face jail time and these charges will remain on their records. Is there any training or classes for students on what is appropriate and what is not for social media . Reporter yes, we asked that question to the principal. He tells me that there is no formal training, no specific classes on this. But he is now thinking about bringing in a professional to talk to students and parents about internet safety. He also brought up prior to the School Year Students have to sign this pledge, this road of conduct about appropriate behavior. This obviously is not appropriate. All right, thank you. All right now to San Francisco where giants fans had their rally towels ready for game three of the National LeagueDivision Series at at t park against the chicago cubs. Its an Elimination Game for the giants. Win or go home. Oh yeah, ktvu Debora Villalon is live at the ballpark where the giants just took a 53 lead in the bottom of the 8th inning. Debora . Reporter julie, we came out to set up live, the giants are behind. They had been trailing the whole game. Then of course in the 8th inning three runs come in, Connor Gillaspie the hero again hitting the double. So this team battled tested and fans showed up here tonight very optimistic that this Elimination Game was going to go their way. Still another inning to go, but this is looking a lot more promising than it did just a few innings ago. 57 degrees at first pitch. The postseason is finally on their home turf. San francisco fans were ready. Shaking off two losses facing elimination, but clinging to the knowledge the giants have beaten long odds before. I dont believe in a lot of averages, but i believe in the giants. Theyve done it before and they will do it again. Reporter with this team like cincinnati in 2012 down two come back to win three . The mood is exciting. Its giants baseball. Now we have three. Reporter hoping for four world championships. Another display case at the ballpark overcoming a second half slump to beat the best team in baseball and move on, but dont write that headline quite yet. San francisco reporter fans howled when the cubs put up three runs early on. We need to win, we need to do it. It is just the beginning. We have a long way to go, yes. We have time, were going to win. Reporter the giants pulled within one run in the 5th. Fans can relax. Except that centuryold curse. No one can feel what the chicago cubs feel. You know, im going to turn 50 next year. And they have never seen a world series before. No one knows who has been there. And from the giants and their ceo. It is fun to have that short of a, you know, the dinosaur to try to knock off. It is fun to slay the dragons this year. That they are the best seat in the baseball. Reporter the dragon has not been slayed yet, but if they do win then they will have to win again, just two more games to put them down for good. And that they are odd makers saying that it is not likely, but the giants have shown time and time again that they will need to beat the odds. We are seeing some fans leave as they seem to be optimistic that theyve got this one in hand and already they are looking ahead to tomorrow night. Back to you. And what are those odd makers anyway . The giants. Thank you, debora. Well sports director mark ibanez is keeping tabs on the final few minutes of this game. He will join us a little bit later in the hour with highlights and all the post game reactions. Backers of a brand new football stadium in las vegas for the Oakland Raiders say its a game changer that lawmakers should get behind. The Nevada Legislature went into special session today to consider raising the vegas area hotel tax to help pay for a nearly 2 billion stadium. A number of lawmakers say that the 750 million might better go towards schools, streets, and public safety. Im very concerned about thinking that theres 10,000 to 22,000 people until the nation. If you look at most of nevada, they dont want a stadium. They dont want a stadium paid by taxpayers. Twothirds of each chamber of the Legislature Must vote to improve the tax increase. That could come later this week. If the tax measure does past, nfl owners would still have to approve the raiders move to las vegas by a threefourths majority. Kidnapped at 8 years old tonight, the story of misty sanchez escaping from a killer. How she is trying to help others years later. On segment 2 tonight, the story of an 8yearold girl from vallejo who defied all odds by escaping a kidnapper who had already killed at least two other girls. Her name is Midsi Sanchez. She is now 24 years old. For years midsi refused to even think about what happened to her. But now she is sharing her incredible story of survival with ktvus ted rowlands. Reporter in december 1999 7 yearold fairchild disappeared from her home in vallejo. Nobody knew it at time, but ziana had already been murdered by a local taxi driver named curtis Dean Anderson who had also kidnapped and killed 7 yearold amber schwartz. And would later have claimed to kill 13 other girls. Is there anybody that is more of a danger to society than someone like that . Reporter then on august 12, 2000 an 8yearold second grader named Midsi Sanchez was walking home alone from vallejos highland elementary school. It was my friends birthday party, i wanted to help my mom get everything set up. I was two blocks from home. I noticed a gentleman sitting in his car. Reporter it was curtis Dean Anderson. As i got closer, i noticed that he was watching me through the rearview mirror. And my gut instinct told me to cross the street. Reporter but excited for her birthday party, midsi kept walking. Anderson got out and asked her to help him grab a roll of duct tape out of his car. As soon as i reached in to grab the duct tape of the floor board of the car, he just leaned over me from behind and he put his hand over my mouth. Reporter within seconds anderson was driving away past midsis house where her mom was inside getting ready for the birthday party. And im watching my house. I just remember thinking i want to be home so bad. I wish i was home. Reporter anderson drove her across the freeway to this Shopping Center parking lot. He made me change my clothes. He at this point pulls out alcohol and he poured alcohol and said drink it. Reporter that night was spent in the parking lot of this truck stop off highway 80 on the outskirts of vallejo where he abused midsi and pulled out a chain. It was like one of those long silver chains and he tied it really tight around my leg and locked it up with a padlock. I thought this is it. Im not going to see my family again. Reporter meanwhile word spread quickly that another little girl from vallejo was missing. Vallejo police are again asking for help in locating a missing 8yearold girl. Police say Midsi Sanchez was last seen at about 3 00 this afternoon. You are searching for every little tiny clue that might lead you to something. He would put up blankets and towels to cover up the windows so nobody could see inside. He would leave me in the car to go watch my mom cry on tv. Reporter then two days after the kidnapping anderson left midsi alone and left behind his ring of keys. I just picked the smallest one and i unlocked the padlock that he had chained around my leg. Reporter a few hours later curtis Dean Anderson was in custody and Midsi Sanchez was home. Midsis father carried her in as dozens of people celebrated her return. Reporter it was surreal, it was unbelievable. It was miraculous to think a child that young was able to free herself and get away from this is just stranger than fiction. Reporter midsi had her birthday party, but things would never be the same. Everyone was there to show their love and support. I was still not okay. Reporter for the next few years midsi was in therapy known as the kidnapped girl. She struggled to fit in at school. Her parents also struggled. Then after midsi turned 12, things got worse. I was loaded, drunk, doing god knows what. I remember thinking that, you know, this girl is self destructive and feeling really bad that most likely her encounter with the child kidnapper is a reason why she is so selfdestructive and figured it was a matter of time before, you know, she would turn up dead somewhere. Reporter in 2009 midsi then 16 was severely injured as a passenger in a drunk driving accident. Once again she was fighting for her life. This time though things would be different. Coming home from the accident from the hospital i found out i was pregnant. With my daughter who is now 6. And that was life changing for me. That was my wake up call. Now 24 midsi is living a clean life still in vallejo working and raising her daughter. She also helps counsel families of missing children. This is what im here for, this is my purpose. When i think about fiona and amber and all of the other girls that didnt make it, i just, sometimes im overwhelmed with the feeling of, like why me. Reporter curtis Dean Anderson was sentenced to 300 years in prison. He died in 2007 from kidney failure. Now midsi says she owes it to the children anderson killed and other victims to make sure she makes a difference with her life. Ted rowlands ktvu fox 2 news. What a story. When you think about everything that shes gone through and then to see her now and how shes talking and how it seems like she is thriving and how she has a little child, great to see. She found purpose and is so brave. We want to change gears now to get a check in on the weather. Big changes are headed our way as the rain is about to return to the bay area. Reporter when a teenage boy was accused of killing 8year old Madison Middleton after luring the girl into his santa cruz apartment last year, prosecutors decided to charge the 15yearold with murder and to try him as an adult. Prop 57, which is largely aimed at easing prison overcrowding would take that discretion away from prosecutors and place the decision in the hands of a judge. Prop 57 would also allow some inmates serving time for crimes defined as nonviolent to be considered for Early Release. The legislatures fiscal analyst says that there are 129,000 inmates in the system. 30,000 are serving time for non violent crimes. 7,500 of them would be eligible for Early Release under prop 57. Two measures on the statewide ballot would focus on the Death Penalty offering opposing solutions to address the states broken system of capital punishment. Right now 748 inmates sit on death row including notorious killer richardage davis, scott Peter Richard davidson, scott peterson. The last in 2006 when Clarence Ray Allen was put to death. Prop 66 aims to speed up the time between the death sentence and an execution by requiring condemned inmates to file appeals within one year after getting an attorney and requiring the appeals to be resolved within five years. They would also attempt to expand the pool of lawyers who can defend capital cases. Death row inmates are housed in one of two places. The men are here at san quinn. Death rows are expensive to run and prop 66 aims to save money by allowing condemned inmates to be housed at a number of different prisons across the state. Prop 62 takes a more straightforward approach and would abolish californias Death Penalty. Replacing it with a maximum punishment of life in prison without the possibility of parole. I can remember a couple of years where it really wasnt great all over the weekend. But things are changing around though. If it happened next weekend, then we would have the bad weather, because there is rain in the forecast down the road. Theres fog at the coast, you knew that. A slow burn off in the mid morning and then clear for everybody except the coast. It is exactly what you would expect tomorrow. Thats what we discussed earlier. So thats tuesday, wednesday looks like this too and thursday looks like this too. So it is nice, its a big change that will come here. This is the first step to get closer to us now that it has been extensive and it will push the fog in. That is the big inland intruce tonight and tomorrow and the next couple of nights. Then it kicks through. When this low kicks through, thats when the rain starts, but it doesnt just start, it opens up the door a little bit pretty early in the season for the sowal flow if you will, just straight across the pacific the zonal flow if you will just straight across the pacific. But here we are for friday. Look at this, look at the moisture plume, right . That is the interesting thing to note. Then here comes saturday night, another one. Where you can see where it is coming from. It is pulling from the subtropics. Here is another one that comes in from monday and tuesday. It would be a real wet pattern if it was another time of the year. The forecast rain totals, im going to rush out of here. If the giants end up winning this game, everybody will forget it. But if they lose everybody is going to say all season long they did not have a closer who can finish things out. Its been an amazing turn of events at at t park. Could you expect no less when you get the giants and cubs . I know cub fans are considering it to be a disaster in the post season. We are really freaked out with the way this thing went. But on the first inning, mad bum, 24 scoreless innings in a mustwin game. Jake arrieta the pitcher would smoke it with two on, a three run homer. And up to that point all driven in by pitchers. Unbelievable. The 8th inning though the giants bullpen did a good job of holding them down. Only 32. Chicago brings in their 8th closer, chapman, only to have Connor Gillaspie the hero in that wild card game against the mets. He delivers a tworun triple. Buster posey scoring the go ahead run. First time the giants have led in this series and then they backed that up when Brandon Crawford hits one right up the middle. Gillaspie with the run that made it 53 with the drawnin infield play. With that being said, we go to the top of the 9th. One on in the 9th. Chris bryant who will probably be the national mvp, deep off the top of the ford out there, the car. It is a tworun homer to tie it in the 9th inning with nobody out. 55 and that is the way it stands. We go into the bottom of the 9th, look at how close the giants came to winning this game. Brandon bell is at 1st base, buster posey at the plate drives one down the right field line. Albert jr. With this sensational catch. Not only that, but thinking that the ball would be a double down the left field line doubled up. Look at that catch right there that saves the game for the chicago cubs. The giants need this game obviously or their season is over. But we are 55 right now in the 10th inning, the bottom of the 10th as a matter of fact. The other games today, the dodgers are just one game themselves away from elimination now after dusty baker and Company Takes care of them. This is sweet for dusty at dodgers stadium. A close ball game. The dodgers will bring in their 8th closer. Jensen to try to keep it a one run game, but they get to him with the jayson werth homer and Ryan Zimmerman with a tworun double. Josh reddick, the former as out in right field could not make a play on it as you watch them get a glove on it breaking the game open. 83 nationals wind up winning. And they have a 21 lead as the dodger fans head for the exit. Now many Baseball Players or any sport for that matter will be able to walk out with the dream scenario. It did not happen for big papi even though he wanted to win a world series in his final game. But instead cocoa crisp the coco crisp the former as. The tworun homer for coco. Indians go up 41 and the drama happened for david ortiz. Being the hero, but he did draw up a walk to come off the field for a pinch runner. The fans salute him in a very emotional event after the game. But the red sox are eliminated as the indians win that series 43 and in three games to nothing. Changing sports, man, ill tell you what there are a lot of golf fans in northern california. Very disappointed by this turn of events. They probably should be. Tiger woods has pulled out of the safeway open scheduled for silverado this week. Tiger woods abruptly withdraws from the event on his personal website today. He says after a lot of soul searching and honest reflection, i know i am not ready. My game is vulnerable and not where it needs to be to compete on the pga level. The only thing i have to say about that, didnt you know that a week or so ago when a lot of tickets were actually being sold . That is kind of a low blow right there. In the meantime i would call it the beginning of a happy divorce between the 49ers and Colin Kaepernick as it is not official yet, but they have restructured his contract. No official announcement, but the niners and kap reportedly agreed on a contract restructuring. The bottom line is that the new deal will void the final four years of the contract. It will also allow kaep to become a free agent after the season, and the niners will not be on the hook for the rest of his salary should he get injured. That may open the door for kaepernick to see some action this year if Blaine Gabbert continues to fail for the 14 49ers. Monday night football, how the mighty have fallen. Last year they were in the super bowl and this year carolina is in the tank right now. Their quarterback, of course, cam newton is not available with a concussion. Derrick anderson is in. 1st and goal. Brent grimes instead intercepts for tampa. Panthers are denied in the final moment of the game as they turned the ball over 19 times all last year. They had 14 in five games this year, 1414 final seconds, tampas roberto hits the kick and he missed two earlier, but hes got that one as time runs out with a 38 yarder and the panthers are now 14. That is the sporting life as far as i know it is still 55 now going to the 11th inning. Its a crazy game at at t park. It looks like the giants had it in the bags. To think that some fans were leaving early. Yes, thank you for joining us tonight. Have a great night everyone. Go giants. Good night. Well see you tomorrow. Still alive. Alla lot of its a hoax.
