His partner fired at the car which sped away. Moments later an attempted carjacking at a near by neighborhood. The owner of that vehicle did not fight back against the attempted carjacking and was himself shot in the head. Reporter that victim was taken to the hospital. A massive search moved from the original scene in sacramento north up interstate 80 to auburn. Thats where two Placer County Sheriff Deputies located and approached a red pickup. They were both shot. The Golden Gate Bridge district decided to go ahead and study charging for the pedestrians and bicyclists on the bridge. Reporter dozens of people showed up to tonights meeting at the board of directors theyre upset about a proposal that would allow the bridge district to study the idea of charging people a toll to walk or bicycle across the Golden Gate Bridge. Everyone who spoke urged the board to take the proposal off the table. I just dont see where its going to be economically helpful to put obstacles in the space of people who are demonstrating healthy, physical, emotional environmental health. Youre creating a whole new type of revenue collection. Its really unclear how you would do that. Reporter the district is facing a 33 million deficit over five years and has to do something to close it. Charging a toll to use the sidewalk is just one of dozens of ideas the district is studying. No actual amount has been discussed. But in the end, the bridge district made up mostly of elected officials from San Francisco, marin and Sonoma County voted 109 to keep the possibility of a toll on the table.
