There is a new effort to train airport workers to be on the lookout for Human Trafficking going on right in front of them. Ktvus brian flores heard from one victim of trafficking and joins us live to explain the Program Underway at Oakland International airport to rescue others. Brian . Reporter hi, tori. Good afternoon. Its a bigger problem than most think. Here at Oakland International airport as well as the two other bay area airports, tsa agents, airport employees and even passengers need to be aware that this is, as you mentioned, happening right in our own back yards. The antitracking coalition hosted the event to teach agents the signs of human and section trafficking. Organizers say this is a major problem right here in the bay area. Oakland airport was the last of three bay area airports to get trained for the signs of Human Trafficking. And while tsa agents and airline employees were mainly trained, they say regular passengers can keep an eye on warning signs. Things like looking at the type of clothing, noticing whether its weather appropriate. If a passenger doesnt have any personal attention or if you talk to somebody and they are not sure of the destination all of those are warning signs. Its much bigger than most people think because we have three airports that facilitate the travel for conferences and conventions and sex traffickers make a point of coming to all of the big conferences and conventions because they do a brisk business. Reporter now, we also spoke to a sex trafficking survivor, mckenzie said she was trafficked from new york to five other states ending in florida. I told him i wanted to die. He asked me to choose death or not. I chose death. He put the loaded gun in my mouth. It wasnt that easy to say i want to leave and hes gonna leave me some money. Reporter she was able to escape to the backer to of her pimps house back door of her pimps house. She wants people to know that this isnt just a problem here in the u. S. Prosecutors convict about 86 of the cases. If you see something, say something. Brian flores, ktvu channel 2 news. All right. Thank you, brian.
